I reached out to about 15-20 well reviewed brokers. Uni First was top 3 competitive in terms of their rate and overall offering (zero points, PMI, etc). I had already started preapproval with another broker/lender so ended up going with them since they were about the same as Uni. But writing this review as my experience was very positive working with Emerson Tat and if I wasn't already started with someone else, would have gone with them. Emerson was professional, responded quickly and did not put any pressure in terms of being salesy. I never met Eric but heard about a broker in Alhambra a few years ago that would be able to refinance or purchase a home with no cost. The federal govt dropped interest rates to its lowest ive ever seen. Never knew about Eric and his team and did some research. Uni First really impressed me, not only they completed both of my refinance (Primary and Rental) very quickly with promised great rates, but the personal attention and super responsive communication I received is beyond my expectation. I actually have never spoken with Eric but I had the pleasure to work with Matt who was assigned to both of my cases. He kept me informed every step away (which in unusual for this type of business as everyone is really busy) and always replied my messages right away even it was late in the evening. One of my original mortgages was sold to another company during the refi which caused extra complication and time needed to process the loan. However Matt worked diligently and proactively to obtain the payoff info so that my prior loan could be paid off on time. I also like the final confirmation emails I received prior to closing the loan where they highlighted all the important information such as when your first payment due, how much your min. monthly payment is, your rate/term. I am so glad I found Uni First investment and can understand how they've earned hundreds of 5-star reviews. I've evaluated several mortgage brokers to understand their pricing models and fee structures, so it was hard to believe that Eric @ Uni First could actually provide a refinance process with no points or fees. It's the best service in 3 ways, especially during times like COVID: 1. Eric advertised (and delivered on) the lowest rate among all other brokers. 2. Eric was quick to respond. One thing to note is that we never talked on the phone, but the beauty of working with email is that our history was "in writing" so I could always refer back to Eric's answers. Speed and accuracy of information differentiates Eric's team from other brokers I spoke to. 3. A mobile notary came to my home and was courteous in remaining socially distant when possible during the signing of escrow docs. I am so glad I didn't have to walk into an office.
