I have been banking here for about 25 years. Been through several mergers with them. They have always provided top service.

My husband and I purchased a vehicle in 2021 and have been making the monthly payment monthly on time. They don't allow you to pay extra in principle. The first complaint is I am the signer, the is co-buyer. The credit union. Sends every coupon to my husbands name. I complained and was told it was because "He is the MALE" which is racist. Ok now , we took our van in time and time again to the dealer because of the ch vk inhibit light coming on. Long story short, lemon law. The manufacture agreed to buy it back giving us everything we paid plus, so I called to get a payoff, the principle ea month and the interest each month since July 2021 to date since last Tuesday. Each Dayi call the get the information I get a different person with a different length of time it takes to get it. I finally get the payoff good for fifteen days. I call on 9/3 ask again for the payment history of the principle and interest amount up to date. On 9/2 they say I will get it by end of the day. Nothing here. On 9/3 they say they need 24 hrs. On 9/4 the say 48hrs are needed, 9/5 it 78 hrs. Well after the lady informed me it already was sent to me. I asked were and when it was sent, she didn't know. Now I am speaking to a manager, I m informed it was not sent and it will be done by the end of the day and she will call me to be sure I got it. Nothing. This morning once again I call, was told I would get it by 2pm and he will call me to make sure. Nothing. I call again ask for a supervisor again after a long , long wait she comes on and I explain things she tell me it can be done in a few minutes. Yes it was but first the email she sent was empty, then it would not open. I make yet another call, ask again for a supervisor, wait again. Now the new supervisor says it can't be done it takes a few weeks. I said no , I have been asking for it for a week and the last supervisor already told me it's just a push of the button so I need it done. She says ok she will call be back,I say no , I will wait others have promised and haven't done what they say, so I will wait.after 2hrs and 27 minutes and hold (her checking in every 2-5 minutes) she finally says ok check your email. We open the email and you guessed it, it is not what I asked for. It took her over two hours to type each month plus the amount of the payment . I tell her that is not what I asked for. I asked each time for the broken down payment, how much was principle and how much was interest. Really , all of these people work at a bank. No wonder banks go under . Now she also said the payoff that was good til 9/17 was wrong. Boy am I frustrated. Where do these banks get these idiots. How do I trust them to get me what I need and that it Is right? Got a car loan through this company. Have never heard of them. I let the dealership run my credit one time and they chose this place. come to find out worst place to work with. Can't do principle only payments. To make a payment is a headache. The website sucks beyond reason. It is 2025 someone can go update that monstrosity and make it more user friendly. I have never even considered refinancing anything before but I'm counting down the days until I am able to get out of this and with a real bank. Now I know better for next time to ask which lenders are available. read more

I always leave this place with a smile. The employees know their jobs and definitely know how to treat their customers. I've been in the union for 30+ years and have followed all the moves and new owners and name changes. I have had 2 automobile loans, 1 personal loan, and grow up accounts for both of my (now adult) daughters, and have never had any problems. Shout out to Pratap I, and Christina S. The rates they have look great, but the service is lacking. They tend to not be in a hurry to help you after you have been approved for a loan. Days will pass and you will have to call them about the next steps. Then you will receive some instructions last minute, and hurry to get the request items to them. In the meantime, when they could be completing other things such as sending you a membership enrollment via DocuSign the week before, they will sent it to you the day of your deadline. Then when you can't drop everything to complete a packet they just sent a couple ours earlier, they will tell you that YOU missed the deadline and now there is a problem with getting payment sent as you instructed. Never mind that you started the process 10 days before and they decided to do something with the loan 3 days before the deadline. I have never worked with any ending institution that was so slow, unfriendly, and procrastinating. I have worked with many, many lenders through my work as a REALTOR, and this one was the worst. read more

We thought it was going to be a hassle for our daughter to get her first loan, and didn't want to do it through Bank of Dad & Mom, but she was able to do everything online and over phone with Jennifer, and was driving away with her car within 24 hours! I mistakenly got an auto loan through this company not knowing anything about them. Their online website is a joke, it's very hard to navigate. They also offer an option to pay principal only online and when selected it may or may not work properly. Isn't that nice? So all this time, I've been paying to my "principal" or more like finance charges. Literally no one explained this to me, or even noticed this is what I was trying to do every month, they just keep on taking my money. NEVER AGAIN. Do yourself a favor and go with a company that can better explain their policies and then those policies aren't ridiculous. Such as, you can only pay to your principal amount with your savings account money, not an external account. Literally makes ZERO sense to not be able to pay the principal amount with whatever account I want to. read more

*I posted this review on the Western Federal Yelp page and feel that it should also be here: Dear Mr. Howe (President of Western Federal/now- Unify), I would like to express to you my recent frustration with a bank that I thought had my back and was by my side through thick and thin. I have been a long-time customer of this bank, dating back to when it was CD Federal Credit Union. Back in those days, everything was more personal, when my boyfriend-at-the-time and I applied for a vehicle loan, the loan officer worked with us and helped us to get the loan we needed. When I went to refinance my vehicles, on my own, the loan officer again worked with me and made the experience a very personal one and I felt a great appreciation for her genuine care and assistance. A little background, I am a mother of 2 who works as a property manager of an apartment complex. My pay includes an apartment worth $2050/month (therefor I do NOT pay ANY rent) and then I receive additional monthly salary. When the bank switched over to Western, I went in twice to try and refinance my vehicle, which in the past had never been a problem. However, the representative told me that I did not qualify because my income was too low. (My point of refinancing was to lower my payment in order to help myself out). I explained both times that I do not pay ANY rent and that I even have my gas, electric and cable paid by my company. She explained both times that they could not put $0 for rent, that there had to be a minimum of around $900 in that area. I do not understand why there would be a forced expenditure that does not exist for me. It was very frustrating, I asked if she could add $900 to my income to compensate for them taking out a random $900 and she said they cannot do that. I was denied because, with that amount taken off for rent that doesn't exist, my income didn't qualify. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I applied with my fiance for a vehicle loan. I still owed $6500 on my vehicle loan that I had with Western, now Unify. My fiance and I make a combined income of $8000/mth and neither of us pay rent, gas, electric or cable. Unfortunately his credit is not great but I was told that we were actually denied because I have 2 accounts that I put with a debt collection company!? This is unbelievable to me that something like that would be a negative and a reason to deny someone a loan when they make far sufficient money every month and have been nothing but a loyal customer who always pays on time! I am being a responsible adult and putting a couple of my credit cards that got out of hand with a debt collection company. That company not only stops the credit card from being able to be used anymore, but they negotiate with the credit card company to lower the interest and agree to payments to pay it off. This should be a GOOD thing and a POSITIVE thing when people are responsible enough to do this and not to just let the credit card go without payment or keep spending up to the limit every month and only pay the minimum amount due getting caught in the trap of credit cards! I wanted to let you know that the way your loan department works is now on the level of all corporate banks. I had 2 vehicle loans with CD Federal that were paid off over the past 10 years and never had late payments, yet I was STILL denied. I have been nothing but a loyal customer and paid all of my loan/credit card payments on time EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Yet I was still denied. The personal touch is gone and I really hope you find it again, it's why so many people stayed with CD Federal. Instead of Western/Unified helping me out, Redwood Financial accepted me for a vehicle loan. My 3rd car loan with you was completely paid off with the purchase of this new car. I am so very disappointed in Western/Unify. In the past, I had recommended numerous people, always able to tell them how unlike a big-time bank you were and how personable and caring it felt to be with you. I no longer feel that way and judging by the Yelp for the bank, you have a LOT of other long-timers who are also pulling out. I did a new car loan with Tyler Sveen and he did such a great job getting me a great rate, making it easy for me and patently explaining things that I refinanced our other vehicle with him too. I found Unify to have the best rates and I shopped. The document signing was easy. Tyler is super knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend both Tyler and Unify as least for auto loans. I have a super low rate on my home loan from several years ago but if I was looking for a home loan I'd give Tyler a call first. Tyler is perfect because he's a no pressure kind of guy. Problem resolved! I am happy to report that my issues with setting up minor bank accounts for my children has been resolved after several months of going back and forth with Unify. This is a late update but this was resolved last year. There have been many positive changes and I know it is due to the fact that the Concord branch now has a competent manager (Rima) who was able to identify my issues and help me rectify what her predecessors were unable to do. When I returned to Unify to find yet another manager, I was not hopeful. However, when I first made contact with Rima, I shared with her my frustrations and she could see how frustrated I had been since the issues had gone on for a year. Rima immediately jumped in and wanted to make things right and by doing so, consistently kept me updated as to the status of my request. I see a complete change in the branch and now find that when we enter Unify, we are warmly greeted by the staff and are regularly acknowledged by them that they are aware we are waiting and that they "will get to us as soon as possible." For those reasons, I am happy to update my review from a 1 star to 5 stars. See Rima for any banking concerns and she will be more than happy to help! If you were a clown and traveled with the circus this would be the perfect date for you because that is who runs these Credit Unions, clowns. I had my account for over 30 years through four different credit union changes and ultimately ended up with unify. These snakes purposely saved up all my transactions and ran them after a holiday weekend and gave me 18 oh, yes that's correct, 18 overdraft fees for a total of almost $1,000. I refuse to pay it and so they knocked off like seven or eight hundred dollars and I still refuse to pay it so they sent me to collections and now I'm refusing to pay them. I had this account since it was Dupont Federal Credit Union then to California Pacific Federal Credit Union then to Western Credit Union and now to this joke unify Credit Union. This is a sham organization stay away. read more

She focused on completing my request from start to finish, like there was no one else in the office! She is knowledgeable and detail oriented. She set up automatic payments on the date I requested. She made sure I had no additional questions or concerns before I left. The process was quick and easy, verifying income through deposits on file. I love my credit union! Ive been going to the same location since 2012 because I always have a pleasant experience. The whole staff always makes me feel so welcome, I brag about them to everyone. One time in particular I had fraud on my account and Samantha and Rema were so patient with me; they took care of everything. Throughout the whole experience they worked hard to get me my money back and reverse all the overdraft fees acquired by the fraudulent activity.The ladies were always available to talk whether it was on the phone, email or and person. It's quarantine. I started a new job and needed my first paycheck deposited ASAP for bills past due. They couldn't waive the 2 day hold because they didn't have "history" from this company. It's my NEW job I started two weeks ago, of course there isn't history for this job. But I previously had checks direct deposited prior to this. I've been a member since 2014 and I have had nothing but awesome interactions with the customer service reps thru the 1-877 number and in person at the branch. My checking accounts is always up to date and items are debited efficiently, right when the transaction occurs. Bank transfers are seamless and efficient. Unify has been nothing but awesome! They also have some of the best interest rates for their loan products. Unify has given me the best banking experience ever! read more

Alexa was so hopeful with answering questions I had regarding my credit card transactions. Today was shaping up to be a PAIN until she figured out right away what was going on with my visa account. I was sent here by Ace Auto Sales in Martinez to try for a car loan. I worked with Tayler and he was amazing in helping me get approved with a decent APR. He kept in touch with me and helped me through the process. I got the vehicle I wanted and they cut me a check quick. Thank you guys so much for making things simple and great customer service. I too was a CD Credit Union customer and they were outstanding. Once it switched to Western it was a nightmare. I had a personal account and a joint account. I set up bill pay online with both accounts. My bills were paid out of the Jt. account, with an occasional payment from my account. Western decided to pay my bills from BOTH accounts, therefore, I had my homeowners dues paid a year in advance, my house payment was bouncing, all Hell broke loose and they told me it was my fault! I finally got it straightened out after months of arguing, got all the bounced checks waived and left them asap. Now this unify place can't seem to understand I haven't been a customer in 4 years and they keep sending me statements saying I owe nothing. If I could rate it as zero I would. read more

The ATM is broken 90 percent of the time, homeless people are camped out in the parking lot and very close to the ATM, and they constantly and consistently make accounting errors. This used to be a great credit union but since it became Unify it has declined in customer service and quality banking. Go to Travis CU instead! read more

This is an update to reflect the incredible change in the service and staff at this location. The Branch Manager, Rima, has done an incredible job improving the branch and encouraging staff. While Mr. Howe (CEO) and Nick (Regional Manager) have no clue what being a credit union is, they are lucky to have this group of people on Second Street at the front line. This bank offered me half of a percent lower interest rate than the dealership did so I financed my car through them and I wish I just went with the dealership. The customer service is mediocre. I have never had bad service here but it's never been great. I have to jump through hoops to get on the phone with someone to ask a simple question and they're not even helpful half the time. I'll likely be refinancing through another bank just to get out of here. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

I'm a member from Arkansas & I am sick of this credit union they cant even balance my account correctly yet expect me to. I have to call & get $30 courtesy pays canceled at least once a week anymore. they charge you out of nowhere when the moneys there & then you all of the sudden have five of these charges because of the screw up they made with the first one. I'm done with this. it's basically stealing from the working man. dont bank here it's a joke. read more
