I was contacted by the branch manager to come in and resolve my claim. This was a life saver being with no fund all week and my daughter is going to a party it all work out. Thanks for the great service read more

Brian. Your dishonesty is not appreciated. We sat at your desk before you needlessly ran my credit. If you had been honest this wouldn't be an issue. I could've made an informed decision either way before you dinged our credit scores with an inquiry. The most frustrating thing other than you lying through omission (not previously telling us that we needed my wife to have a credit score of 620) you waisted our time, you didn't get back to us right away and in reality, this should've been handled right then and there while we were in your office. The irony is that we already got a loan for this car, three years ago. And even with my wife's lower score we've never missed a payment. Obviously you and your underwriters don't have any common sense or ability to think critically. So why would a borrower attempt to use this institution? Avoid this shady business and "manager" read more

For over a decade I've used the nearby PCU to do transactions on my ChevronFCU account. Most always thru the drive up ATM attached to the building. This last 6 or so weeks have been nothing but dissappointing. Last month the ATM refused to do a check deposit. Per PCU direction I went to a CFCU office and confirmed that everything with the account and the PCU-CFCU relationship was OK. Today I tried again and the ATM said the card was invalid. Went inside and was told that they'd been having problems with the ATM -- AND THEY CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT THE ATM. OK, I'll do business elsewhere. read more

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling Provident CU! All you Swifties get that but let me use the word SWIFT as one of the words to describe their service. Along with: responsive, friendly, professional, and welcoming. I have been in the market for 6 months now to purchase a new car. Rates have really turned me off so looking a loan at a credit union was a must for me. To be honest, I do my everyday banking with a credit union, but their rate was already high and even with being a long time member, they were set on their and don't match. I searched local credit unions to my home and work. I came across Provident and a few others. I made various calls and Sod at Provident CU was the most patient and friendly with all of my questions. During our conversation, I asked if I could get a same day appointment to come in, open an account and apply for an auto loan. Sod was able to meet with me within hours. Needless to say, Sod was wonderful getting my accounts set up and submitting my loan. I received a call later that day with the good news that it had been approved and he would call me the next day for next steps as it was nearly the end of the day. I heard from Sod the next day and he needed a couple docs for my loan...it was as easy as emailing all of it and voila! I just needed to go in and sign. Did this really happen in a span of 2 days?? Awesome. I didn't have a set appointment the next day and was just told to come in anytime. I thought I would beat the lunch crowd so I arrived around 1030 am. When I walked in, Misha recognized and greeted me and said " WELCOME BACK!" He knew what I was there for asked me to have a seat and he's aware that my paperwork is being prepped. I was sorry to have missed Sod as he had a day off, but Brian help me and he was just as wonderful. He walked me through my paperwork with care, explaining and answering all of my questions. Before you know it, I was on my merry way, accounts opened, online banking set up and car loan approved. This was thee absolute most delightful experience I've had with banking! I am very happy I chose Provident Credit Union. I'll be referring anyone and everyone here for their banking needs. Thank you so much Sod, Brian and Misha. I am grateful for your help and appreciative of your teamwork. read more

I came in, right before the lunch hour rush, for a wire transfer to an escrow account. I purchased a home and it was important that I get the wire in before the 1pm PT cutoff. Unfortunately, like so many other establishments, they were short staffed that day, with an assistant branch manager (I forget her name, but she was SO patient - helping a customer with a Venmo issue, which clearly wasn't a Provident CU, but she continued to help him nonetheless) and Robin. Because the assistant branch manager was tied up, Robin bore the brunt of a lot of the incoming customers. The line GREW and at one point had as many as 8 customers waiting. But because the manager and Robin were so professional and patient, I heard not one complaint from anyone in line. Working in customer service is HARD. Not to mention, having to service people and their money - tensions can get high and patience can be thin. I was SO impressed with Robin and her ability to breathe, smile, and continue on with the busy work. I closed my accounts with a huge bank and opened my CU accounts in January of this year - I am so happy I did. Great job, Walnut Creek Provident CU. Thoroughly impressed by the customer service! read more

What a horrifying experience! Tried to open a simple checking account, and for 2 weeks all I got was excuses from them. Never returned my calls, managers ignored me, waited on hold for 25 minutes at a time, never even got the account open!! They obviously couldn't care less about customers. read more

Where do I even begin. First of all, I can't tell you how I can't stand banks!! So glad I have a Credit Union. The amazing woman by the name of Angela Caldwell took care of all my questions. Not only was she very knowledgeable of the products that PCU had to offer, but she was patient enough to answer all my questions about each checking account product! I may just have to close my other accounts with other financial institutions and bring all my money here. She was very personable and had a great insight to what my needs were. I believe it is people like her that gives me faith that humans can never be replaced by any AI or machine. Customers need to feel important, we need to feel heard, we need to feel like we are valid. Her customer service skills should be the staple of PCU's training. Because of her, I will definitely be referring this branch in particular to my friends and family. read more

Brian Gonzalez is the best. He helped me navigate getting my business accounts open and was very knowledgeable. I look forward to working with him or one of the other wonderful staff each time I go in! This branch is so warm and welcoming! I was treated like royalty today- all thanks to Brian. I will no longer do any kind of banking elsewhere. I know Provident will treat me with professionalism & kindness each time. Brian deserves all the accolades and a promotion for how much he helped me today:) read more

Dismal phone support. First call claimed a 4 minute wait and 18 minutes later no response. The second call two hours later claimed a two minute wait and 10 minutes later no response. It is obvious they want customers to select call back and not wait requiring more cUstomer service reps. They used to be the best customer service company with rarely a wait. This is more like a bank effort and not a credit union. read more

Great experience with Provident CU Walnut Creek! Sod Farjian helped me with my Auto loan. Great Customer service! Thank you PCU!

Love Provident...I have been a member for years, and they have great customer service and cares about its' members!

You have a wonderful employee at the Walnut Creek branch. Angela has been a great help to me in dealing with my partner's estate. His son was the beneficiary of one of his Provident accounts and Angela helped me navigate necessary details to ensure the transition went smoothly. She was able to tell me how to handle the transition when I was still in shock from his passing. Her calm, cool manner helped me with the situation. I so appreciate you having such a delightful, knowledgeable employee. She is a jewel! read more

Wonderful experience dealing with Provident in obtaining a car loan. The banking officer was Ms. Angela Caldwell. She was extreme competent, efficient, and friendly. She made sure that I understood all of the requirements of the loan and answered all of my questions (and I had a lot of them!). Thanks Provident and Ms. Caldwell. read more

I love my credit union, BUT I came down to know the loan balance as of today. The customer service person just handed me the toll free phone number because the branch cannot get that info in their system. I was thinking, since I came all the way to the branch, could he have called the loan department for me? This branch had people who always took care of me, so I was a little disappointed. I know their toll free number already. I wouldn't have come down if I didn't need the info urgently. I will still love Provident at least for now. read more

I have not yelped in years but now I definitely need to praise the great customer service I have received. With Covid still actively effecting our lives, I needed help and not only got an open ear with Member Services employee James Teaney, but also got customer service above and beyond, going the extra lightyear. Thanks to James I was able to get the assistance I needed and ease with what I have to deal with and what live currently is throwing at me and got me more stable on my feet again. Thank you so much James for everything you have done for me!! read more

I had a very positive experience 2 days ago at the Walnut Creek branch. I was there during the noon hour and it was fairly busy. Isabel was very friendly at the counter and got my details recorded to start the process of opening a term certificate. Brenda the acting manager that day then completed the paperwork at her desk in a few minutes. She was very thorough and professional. I had also spoke to the manager Brian on the phone a few days before, who told me I did not need an appointment to open an account. He was very informative on the phone call. read more

I went into Provident credit union today about 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday. I had no appointment and I needed to open an account. I explained my situation to the manager and he was able to assist my request in a professional, timely manner. The credit union is poorly managed, I have had several issues with basic banking issues and have encountered bank tellers and customer service staff truly not understanding what they are doing. With the more recent issue, they are referring me to a third party check cashing business with a fully endorsed cheque.... "Since the other payee is also entitled to the funds, it would need to be deposited into an account with both payees listed. A branch location or check cashing business may allow the check to be cash with both parties present, with valid ID. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any questions." Do yourself a favor and steer clear This Financial institution does not value its clients. I have had an account with them for 15 years, I had an unauthorized Fraudulent charge on my debit card for$179.84 I had to take time off to go to the branch to dispute this charge Bc when I called in online said they couldn't help me, I went in filled out paper work and got a new debit card, a week later I called their fraud dept for provisional credit only to find that they NEVER EVEN SENT IN MY CLAIM, I called the branch Mgr. Brian got his vm left a message but he never returned my call, It has been two weeks No refund to my account so I called the fraud dept. again only to find still no claim sent in...Did they just throw my claim away and hope I would forget it? This is by far the best banking establishment I have ever used. Brian Gonzalez, the manager is excellent with customer service. Always greeted with a smile, and that extra individual attention you don't get from big banks. I have banked with large institutions for over 35 years, and nothing compares to the service from Provident Credit Union. I have both personal and business accounts with them, and I could not be more pleased with the services I receive. If you don't want to be treated like another account number, but an actual human being , I urge you to consider Provident Credit Union in Walnut Creek. Making the switch was seamless and easy, especially with such a professional team led by Manager Brian Gonzalez. I have had so many bad banking experiences, that I felt compelled to give credit where credit is due. Provident Credit Union simply is the best. read more

Two and a half years ago, my wife's employer set up a Health Savings Account for her. Unfortunately, they set it up with Provident Credit. There's a long list of the screw ups by this fine institution; and they just keep coming. I'm not necessarily saying that it's a clown show, but I suspect that the employees are wearing red noses and floppy shoes. UPDATE: After posting this review, Brian asked that I call him. I did so and he requested a full account of the many, many problems that we had encountered. He patiently listened to my full litany. I realize that none of this was his fault or the fault of the local branch; it is almost entirely a matter of issues with the website, the IT department, and the online customer support. He said that he was taking copious notes and would pass it on to the proper sites. My review remains at one star (I would give zero if that were possible), but I greatly appreciate the patience and sympathy from Brian. Hopefully he can initiate some improvement with those remote departments. I would give 5 stars to Brian. read more

I bank at several different banks, both big and small. Provident is among my favorite. I have numerous interactions with staff and I must give a 5 star especially due to James Teaney. He knows his stuff, always has me in and out, answers all my concerns promptly and swiftly, and gets me out of there with no hassle. Who wants to wait in a bank right? He also had me do a refi on my auto loan (killer rate cha-ching) and put me in touch with a refi on my house. Anyway, thanks guys at Provident for all your hard work. Happy customer here. read more

Sarah T. at this branch is AMAZING! She turned my 1 start experience (from another branch) to a 100 star experience. I was in the market for a used car and was pre-approved for a loan from a different Provident branch. I found the vehicle I wanted in Walnut Creek so we came to this branch for the transfer. For anyone planning to do this same transaction please make an appointment and have your documents ready: Tittle, DMV Registration, Smog Check, Proof of Insurance and Driver's Licenses of Seller and Buyer. I asked my local branch to confirm this info and the three people I talked to never did this type of transaction and provided little help. I called the WC branch a couple hours before my appointment to make sure I had everything, I'm so grateful Sarah T. answered my call. My appointment was with another banker but she took the time to walk me through the process and asked me to email any documents I had so she could start preparing the transfer forms right away. Over the next few hours we exchanged emails and I sent her the remaining documents from the seller. I came in for my appointment and sat down with Mohamed. He was very efficient and had the seller in and out in less than 20 mins. He was thorough and knowledgeable and made the process easy. Sarah went above and beyond for me to ensure the transfer would be seamless and fast. She even worked through her lunch break. It's truly refreshing to meet people who are passionate about what they do and have a gift for helping people. Sarah's bright energy and willingness to help left me smiling. read more

I made the mistake of getting a car loan with them and they don't stop harassing me about proof of insurance, even though me and my insurance company send them proof a lot of times. Now they told me that they need to give me insurance too just to sell their own products and raise my rates. Very dishonest bank. I also got stolen my bank cards from them a couple of times because their internal security is a mess. I am already in the process of closing my account and taking my money to a better place. read more

Provident Credit Union - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

We have been members of Provident Credit Union for some time. We appreciate the friendly tellers at our local branch in Walnut Creek. We also commend Provident for their loans, especially the process to attain a mortgage or home equity loan. We have had 4 different mortgages or home equity loans over time with Provident. Mo Sangabi in the loan department is unbelievable. His communication is amazing and he is very supportive. His dedication is such that it seems as if he lives at Provident. After recently applying for a Home Equity Loan with a larger bank, we realized that the process of obtaining a loan was so much more streamlined at Provident. When you consider their low rates and the ease of the loan process, I would highly recommend Provident. read more
