Was concerned about it being too cold in the winter months, but heat was working just fine. There were some coat racks available, too. The bar prices were reasonable, with a nice selection of tap and cans, and seltzers and other options available for the non-beer drinkers among us. Sodas and non-alcoholic options were also on the menu. The staff at the Hangar was pleasant and helpful, through and through and the sound was good throughout all bands. We parked a couple of blocks up the street; parking at the venue is limited, but finding parking in Troy is rarely an issue.

Very authentic. Not the largest spread of food, but all A-ok, and not corndogs. The music? World class. The crowd? Super groovy, family friendly but not oppressively so. The "no alcohol" policy? Uh- not heavily enforced b/c there are NO DRUNKS! We get there for the hot air balloon show Sat, & always stay through the last gasp on Sunday. DO NOT MISS the dance tent in back: always a band you are glad to discover back there. Bring a cooler, and an umbrella and sunscreen and GET A PARKING PASS EARLY! The grounds are beautiful to explore, and you get to hear performances by world class musicians, while enjoying a picnic, if you wish! They always have a great lineup of classical as well as popular artists. I go regularly in the summers for concerts, and usually sit in the hall, but this time I enjoyed a wonderful concert on the lawn with my extended family. People really go all out setting up their picnics! Definitely get there a couple of hours early if you want to snag a prime and shady spot, especially if it's a popular artist. (Lawn tix are free for kids under 18!) You can bring your own food and drinks, or there are dining options on premises, and you can even order a picnic-to-go in advance online. Bring all the accoutrements to make your setup as comfy as possible - lawn chairs, picnic blankets, cooler, shade umbrella, misting fan, maybe a candelabra lol. The lawn is beautifully kept and lush & green. On this occasion we saw the powerhouse quartet of Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, Yo-Yo Ma, and Antoine Tamestit performing an all-Beethoven program. The music was transcendent and the weather was luckily perfect, and it was a pleasurable way to spend an afternoon. Again, I stipulate arriving 1-2 hours early, more if you want time to tour the sprawling grounds properly. There will be a traffic jam leading up to the parking lot, and parking can take a while (though very organized). If the main lot is full, it might take another 5-7 minutes to walk to the gate from the parking field across the street.

Well, the Ramble and I made that birthday great. It's an amazing show in an amazing venue. They call it The Barn for a reason. All wood everywhere, it's an intimate show with seats all around, above and behind the stage. Apparently Levon designed and acoustically engineered the space himself, and it shows; the sound quality is phenomenal in here. I think any act would sound good in here, but the Ramble blew my mind. The musicianship is incredible. You'll watch people swap guitars for keyboards for drums and show startling prowess on all of them. They brought in all sorts of friends including Graham Lesh and Twisted Pine (the excellent opening act), and literally everyone could play, and sing, and just rock. With some of Levon's family in the band, you'll hear them play his music with real feeling and emotion, and watch them have a great time doing it. I can't recommend this show enough, and I would certainly come back to the venue as well. Be aware that they don't sell drinks and food, which isn't the worst thing in the world because you could pour half a bottle of vodka into into a water bottle with some powdered grape kool-aid because that's all you had on hand, and have a great time.
