Union 50 is a Cunningham Group restaurant. They're located right off East St. It's a nice area not too far from Mass Ave. If you see the patio go around it as the entrance is down the brick lined street in the middle. It's big inside, has a huge and amazing selection of drinks you can see from the bar, open kitchen window, and a nice outside patio. The hostess was nice and we were seated outside. Seems like they prefer reservations, but we were seated immediately. The waitress was helpful as we had never been there before. The petit board which came with crostinis, grain mustard, cornichons. We picked smoked Gouda, potato bacon terrine - basically potatoes wrapped in bacon, and whipped ricotta with honey. Probably wouldn't order this again because the serving sizes were so small. I've had a lot of charcuterie boards and this one was by far the smallest serving size. Never again would I order that. The sticky wings were my favorite! They were sesame-soy glazed chicken wings. So good!! I like how they brought out warm cloths to use because they were messy, but delicious. We for some reason weren't given a dessert menu. I don't know if they didn't have one. We ordered the carrot cake which was good. I wish I knew what all was in though. The cream cheese icing was my favorite. Not heavy and thick. Nice and light! Nice place downtown and would order the sticky wings and the crab cakes next time. I wish the menu would write how many you get though.
I hadn't been here in forever! I always loved the ambiance here and the food, of course. We started with the pork belly, crab cake, fried calamari and rosemary duck fat fries with truffle aioli - 10/10 across the board! For my main I ordered chicken fettuccini. It came with chopped asparagus, tomatoes, and red pepper flakes. It reminded me more of a cajun pasta than fettuccini. Definitely not the typical creamy pasta I was expecting. The dish was still good, and I would order it again (minus the asparagus). Also, our server mentioned since 2020, they haven't utilized their stage in the dining room, which I thought was interesting! Would be awesome if they brought back live music.

First time dining at Union 50, and me and my party were impressed by the diversity of flavors on our plates. I went for dinner thinking of it to be a traditional American restaurant just based on menu, but the flavors in each dish we ordered were spectacular. We got the fried calamari, pork belly and cauliflower steak for appetizers. For main course, we got blackened chicken pasta (that my toddler was able to eat), salmon and swordfish, and were happy with what you got. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. Shoutout to Michael S. (Mike) for an exceptional service.
Came to this popular place in downtown for a business dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. Glad we had reservations and we were sat properly. Our waiter was the ultimate professional. We tried one of their fries and the Mexican poutine for appys. Both were very unique and yummy. Didn't realize they were also half off. I had their pork chop for main course. Very nicely presented, nicely cooked and very yummy. Couple of the guys got the chicken cacciatore which looked delicious in a nice tomatoe sauce with olives and veggies. One got the kimchi meatloaf that was unique and the other their duck. Everybody finished their meal and enjoyed it. We skipped dessert as we were all full. Busy restaurant and very lively.
What a great night my wife and I had here during devour Indy. We popped in on a Thursday night. Despite it being devour, the place wasn't super packed. It wasn't loud at all in the restaurant. The place was elegant and well decorated on the inside. We were sat and greeted quickly. Our waiter was on it throughout the night. I had a wedge salad, subbing the blue cheese dressing for balsamic. I was appreciate of the restaurant accommodating my request. For my entree, I had the short rib. Oh my- I don't know how it's not a regular on the menu. It was flavorful and fall apart. For my dessert I had the chocolate terrine cake. Again, knocked it out of the park in taste. My cocktail was strong, and unique (unfortunately I can't remember the name of the drink). Overall, I am eager to return to try some of the other items on the menu not listed on the devour menu.
It has been YEARS since I've been to Union 50, but they once again popped up on the Devour options so it rolled into rotation. I find you often go to a Devour restaurant but end up ordering off the regular menu. To start, I had the cocktail - the day the music died and it was divine! I ended up having two. Presentation and taste matched which doesn't always happen! I had the beef tenderloin and I left no crumbs. My partner had the lamb shank and added french fries as an appetizer. We both left very satisfied with our meals and an intent to come back. Our server had plenty of recommendations for us and we weren't disappointed. Now, the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is something I've not really ever experienced and especially in the area Union 50 resides. My partner is a person of color and we were uncomfortably stared at by patrons from the minute I walked in (partner was already at the table) until the time we left. This was not the fault of the restaurant, but it still encompassed the experience of the night. We didn't let this impact our stay; as we spent quite some time at the restaurant between our food, my drinks and overall conversation.
I was already won over when we tried to find the entrance to Union 50 walking on Mass Ave, and we had some trouble. It felt a bit like a secret, and I was glad to learn it! The welcoming atmosphere was lovely. We missed happy hour by just a bit, but it turns out I didn't feel slighted. Our service was excellent and the food was not only delicious, but such a gorgeous presentation! We shared their fries with two dips, the Caesar salad (with real anchovies!) and the bacon jam dates.... ...and, because it was our anniversary, the carrot cake. And now I'm addicted. It was like a carrot cake whoopie pie! Genius and delicious! I've never had a carrot cake quite like it.
Last minute date night to Union 50. Food was superb and server was very attentive and was spot on with menu recommendations.
We went for devour and 10/10. Everyone knows I love a Cunningham restaurant and frankly I don't know why I have never been to union 50. Don't let the outside of the building fool you it is so spacious on the inside. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so pleasant and a joy. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. I did not get a cocktail but my friend got a class of wine he recommended and she loved it. I need them to create some sort of three course menu so I can try more food lol.
Union 50 is the best Cunningham restaurant in the city - the menu is full of unique twists on classic dishes, anyone can find something they love. Perfect for a date night or place to bring clients for a local humble brag. Restaurant has been here over a decade, the patio and bar are expansive and beautiful. The waiters know every dish like they cooked it themselves, but the real highlight is the quality of the dishes - they have amazing appetizers especially poutine and charcuterie boards! They always add interesting ingredients to classic dishes to spice things up: the duck is melt-in-your-mouth, the veggies salted with great flavor, and I just honestly haven't had a bad dish here in years. My absolute favorite place to bring colleagues or for sales dinners - everyone from out of town deserves to try out one of Indy's finest at Union 50!
I love Cunningham restaurants & had not tried this one yet! A nice venue tucked just off of Mass Ave. Chic interior with high ceilings and a beautiful bar. Service was quick and efficient. What *really* drew me here was the fact that they had octopus on the menu, which is my favorite. And it did not disappoint! I also loved their version of the Caesar salad & the chocolate cake was quite delicious. Ended the evening with some port which was a nice touch. Overall, a nice modern American restaurant-- would be a great spot to take family, colleagues, host an event, etc.
It was easy to make a reservation. They have their own parking lot. Its somewhat dark inside which was a vibe. The bathroom was clean. They offer vegetarian options and I had a tasty mocktail. I celebrated my birthday and received a birthday card. I honestly felt special. My cauliflower steak was surprisingly good and very flavorful. I hope it's good reheated. I wanted fries and asked if they grease was vegan safe. The waiter checked and confirmed cross contamination because it's cooked in the same grease as the chicken. I appreciated the honesty because I could've easily gotten sick.

I've checked out mesh and provision so far from the Cunningham group. I think union 50 is my favorite so far. I had the sage of enlightenment as my drink to start. It was outstanding! I have no idea give they got a bourbon drink to taste so damn good but it had so many levels of flavor it was incredible. It was herby, sweet, and even buttery. I like making old fashions and manhattans at home but not even sure how I would recreate this one. It was devour week so I got the house salad to start. It was good and the vinaigrette was tasty. My wife got the pan roasted gnocchi and roasted bone marrow. Both were excellent. The bone marrow I thought was a little strange it was paired with pulled pork but the pickled veggies on the bone marrow were delicious. If I had to choose one though I'd go for the gnocchi The gnocchi was excellent. Soft and pillowy. One of my favorite dishes for the night. My main dish was a pan fried sea bass with mushrooms, coconut rice and a mango curry sauce. I'm sorry I forgot to take a picture but it was amazing! I did take a picture of the aftermath and I cleaned the plate. Who knows if that's a menu item outside of the devour menu but the chef knows what he/she is doing. Finally, I had the chocolate terrine. I was full at this point and this massive chocolate cake comes out! The terrine was rich and decadent. Overall, loved this place. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back read more

I was brought here for a work trip and loved it! The grand board was excellent for a big group (the habanero cheese was amazing with its hint of spice!). The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. I will return when in Indianapolis again. read more

Union 50 is a Mass Ave downtown Indy staple. It is part of CRG - Cunningham restaurant group, which produces a lot of local Indy hits. The vibe is swanky but still casual and the menu is appealing and tasty. I've never had a "miss" on a menu choice. Cocktails are solid and innovative. read more

Covid friendly! Caught a couple of the last great days in a mild December. Sitting outside with spacious seating and the option of an evening seat by the gas fires Since I haven't eaten meat in almost two years I was slightly worried about the options. There were a lot, but they are well worth the visit. The Pan fried mushroom and Gnocchi were aaaamazing. Opted with the tofu and it was great with a crunch and softness to accompany the mushrooms. In addition the rotating cocktails give tons of options to enjoy a evening by the fire. If any of those are left this year. read more

The atmosphere was very nice, and fit the fancy vibe we were looking for to celebrate the new year. The entrance was hard to find though, especially after this snow storm where there's piles of snow and ice everywhere. They should really have a sign. The food and service were both equally amazing. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. I got the truffle oil fries as an appetizer and got all of the sauces except the chili aioli and they were soooo good. I LOVE crispy fries and theirs had such a good crunch. And I couldn't pick which sauce i liked the best, it's great to get a variety. My entree was super good too; I got the prime ribeye that had chimichuri sauce and crispy onions on top. Some kind of potato purée with cheese was below the steak. It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The sear on the surface created the most flavorful crunchy taste that was soooo yummy. I wish I could get another one now. This is a favorite for small group celebrations. The menu isn't huge but there's something for everyone and the food is consistently good. I went with a small group to celebrate a friend's promotion. We started with happy hour in the bar before dinner. The rotating cocktail menu is truly seasonally inspired with a list you will struggle to choose from. But fear not, the bar staff knows every drink and can help you narrow it down. I tried the Beets on 50, a beautiful balance of sweet and earthy flavors. For dinner, I had a the stuffed dates and mussels. Admittedly, the dates are a favorite of mine and I try to get them every time I go. The dates, bacon and ricotta create a trifecta of sweet, salty and creamy with a pleasing slightly chewy texture. The mussels were delicious as well, and more filling than I had expected with potatoes and salami added to the pot. The 2 pieces of crusty bread were perfect for soaking up the tomato wine broth. Buuuut...dinner wasn't so filling that I turned down dessert. I'm glad I split the chocolate terrine because it saved me the sadness of having to leave some of that dense chocolate dreaminess behind. If you love chocolate and black raspberry save room for this. Rich chocolate, not too sweet garnished with black raspberry ice cream and whipped cream. I thought I heard a tres leches cake ordered but it didn't last long enough for me to try and steal a bite. Our server was also very familiar with the menu and attentive. On paying our bills, he took the time to check if we participated in the Cunningham restaurant rewards program. I was really pleased he did that, as I had (again!), forgotten to mention I did. The patio is first come first served, reservations can't be made specifically for outside-it was nice out and we wanted to move. So either get in early to get that patio spot on nice evenings or be prepared to spend some time trying a couple of the bar's creations until a spot opens. read more

Oh you guys, you have to go here! This jewel is such a sweet find! The design and ambiance of this destination is so beautiful and welcoming! Our service from Lindsey, as well as all the staff, was spectacular! We started our adventure with a couple bevs...the Hellfire and Sage of Enlightenment...Delish!! It was a cold snowy, blowy night so these definitely helped warm us up! We ordered the Grand Board which includes 3 charcuterie and 3 cheese selections and a LOT of artisan breads as well as some other yumminess. Needless to say we took more than half of it home so we could explore the grand menu. I chose the Shrimp and Grits and my husband picked the Beef Tenderloin. Oh my gosh! So delicious! We finished up the evening with the House Made Chocolates. Such a great ending to a wonderful evening. Hadn't been to Union 50 in years, and decided to try it on a rainy Saturday. The menu special was a NY strip.... sheesh it was good! We also had the garlic wine mussels - pro-tip on mussels, ask for extra bread so you can use to soak up and eat the sauce. read more

The food was 7/10. I didn't enjoy the Caesar salad and my friend had the devour warm burrata and she said it it was just like tomato soup and crunchy bread. The crab cake was fire! Her salmon dish on the devour menu was also fire. Ambiance was nice! More casual. read more

Loved the food, loved the atmosphere, loved our server! We had a larger party celebrating a couple birthdays and this place couldn't have been more accommodating. I was one of the first people to arrive and our server came right over and asked if I wanted a drink while I was waiting for the rest of our party, I had my drink with in minutes. I know some places make you wait until your whole party arrives before they even acknowledge you. She was spot on as soon as other people arrived doing the same thing. Then to top it off we had brought in a cake (which they do allow) and she took it in the back, lit all the candles and brought it back out to our table. So service was 12/10!!! The food wasn't far behind I thought the charcuterie was a little small (portion wise) for the price, but our entrees were amazing. I think that was the best tasting pork chop I've had at a restaurant. So food was 10/10. If you find yourself in Indy this spot is definitely worth stopping at. read more

Came here for a date night with my husband. Ambience is good, it's a pretty cool place overall with a nice looking bar. Seating options included flat tops, high-tops, and bar seats. Service was for the most part good, with the exception that at the end of our meal, took a little bit of time to get our bill. I got gnocchi with shrimp, and unfortunately, my shrimp was very overcooked and there were more vegetables than gnocchi and overall the dish was not enjoyable. My husband did get these steak special which was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. I am not a very big steak eater but found it to be quite delicious and wish I would've gotten this instead. Got the chocolate terrine for dessert, which we got this at the recommendation of our server, and feels like this just fell short overall. The place does seasonal menus which is unique for Indianapolis and think it is a niche feature of the restaurant. Price is on the higher side, so would consider the same expensive date night. Really wanted to give this place more stars, but there was only really one dish that wowed us and given the higher price point, couldn't. read more

Came to Union 50 during the Devour Winterfest and I was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of street parking outside is a plus! The minute I walked in I was greeted and quickly seated. Our server came around and informed us about the Devour menu. I ordered the duck confit toast, paella, and chocolate terrine. Out of all three plates, I am docking one star because I felt the duck on the duck confit toast was a bit overcooked. However, I still really enjoyed the flavors on the plate. Moving onto the main dish, the paella was absolutely the star of the night! Delicious mussels, the juiciest shrimp, and the rice were all cooked to saucy perfection. Finally, it was time for dessert. The chocolate terrine was absolutely something else. The chocolate was rich and decadent but was well balanced with the tartness that came from the raspberry sauce and the mildness of the vanilla ice-cream. Overall great vibes, great service, and delish food! Will definitely be back!!! read more

I went to Union 50 to celebrate my new job. They have created such an inviting atmosphere at the bar. I sat at the bar and ordered an amazing Espresso Martini. It was easy to find and they were quick to seat us. I like that it is not very loud in there so I can converse with the company I have. read more

Cunningham Restaurants are my favorite, they are each known for something different... Union 50 is famous for their Charcuterie boards. On this visit I was not with a large enough group to order my traditional charcuterie board with "all the options" as an appetizer, we opted for the Medjool Dates: Honey Ricotta / Bacon-Onion Jam / Peruvian Pepper Sauce / Mint, to be completely honest I was not expecting to enjoy it, I am always up for trying something new and I went with it... Soo glad I did, Union 50 Chefs never cease to amaze me! My tastebuds were thrilled, I would definitely order the Medjool Dates again! I was recently reintroduced to grits and found that I am now surprisingly a huge fan! I have been trying them EVERYWHERE and the Shrimp + Grits(Wild Gulf Shrimp / Heirloom Grits / Mushroom + Tasso Ham Gravy / House Worcestershire / Scallion) at Union 50 are among my top picks! If you enjoy grits this is a must try for you! We eat with our senses: what we see, smell and feel, for me plating/presentation is everything... when my appetizers & entree's resemble art they just.taste.better! LOVE that the Union 50 Chefs take plating/presentation seriously. For those concerned with social distancing Union 50 is here for you! Tables are distanced, everyone wears masks and hand sanitizer was available. Union 50 offers a great atmosphere and amazing service! The cocktail menu is superb and they were able to make a delicious aperol spritz! The food is a bit of a miss for me, but mostly because I'm a vegetarian. They did not have the most unique options compared to the variety of meat related dishes they offered. The sea salt and parsley fries were delicious especially with garlic + truffle aioli, but the siracha aioli didn't have a strong siracha flavor or any spice to it. The east street salad was also great for a lighter vegetarian option, but the sweet potato (I was looking most forward to) was cold, some pieces were not fully cooked, and did seem seasoned at all. read more

Stopped in for dinner for the first time. Cameron was our server, he was very polite, informative and attentive. The service over all was great! I ordered the half chicken and I was very delicious! I crave the pastrami poutine from here at least every other week. This is one of my favorite takes on poutine that I've had in Indianapolis, as not many places try this dish. We've enjoyed eating dinner both in the bar and at a table at our favorite place is on their patio. Union 50 is located right off of Mass Ave on East Street so you get a beautiful view of the neighborhood side of downtown living. My husband always gets the Medjool dates that are bacon wrapped and we love their beet salad. For entrées we really enjoy the pork chop & the risotto. I'm a Cunningham Restaurant Group fan, but who isn't? Having visited Rize and Provision multiple, multiple times, I'm always looking for a Cunningham restaurant to celebrate any occasion -- or honestly, just to try a new restaurant in Indianapolis! To celebrate yet another occasion, we visited Union 50 yesterday night. Having perused the menu online already, I was reminded of Provision in more ways than one: a focus on seasonal produce, good quality ingredients, and innovative creations meant that we were in for a treat. We began with the artisan bread and tomato/goat cheese appetizer and a specially-made mocktail: a sparkling blueberry lemonade that was fizzy, tart, and quite delicious. While the bread was soft and perfect, the dip, quite cold despite coming out quickly, left a lot to be desired. What followed was the wild mushroom entree (subbed tofu for the potato-bacon terrine) - a true treat overall. They definitely don't skimp on portions, although we quickly found that fresh tofu isn't really our scene and would've liked it fried more. However, the romesco sauce that accompanied it was flavorful and delightful. We ended the night with a dessert that everyone online had raved about - the carrot cake - and it lived up to the hype and more. A touch of fried carrot slivers on top of the cake was the perfect finish to a lovely evening! Overall, the food could've used a little more seasoning and, well, temperature warmth but with socially-distanced seating and pleasant interiors, it's a lovely spot to head to for a quick yet fancy, non-chain dinner. read more

We were traveling so tried to find something close to the highway. A big fan of the sister restaurants, so we tried. Did not disappoint. Our table ordered the tomahawk pork chop, ny sirloin, sticky wings, and fries. All amazing. Service was great. Only issue was it was freezing in the restaurant. Food came out prompt, and it was pretty busy. Definitely try! read more

I probably have high expectations for CRG restaurants because some of them are my favorite restaurants that I frequent regularly (Mesh and Provision, I'm looking at you). Unfortunately, this one just did not meet my expectations. I was meeting up with a friend who I had not seen in a while, so this was a dinner to "catch up." We came on a Sunday evening when it was not busy at all. Our server kept coming to interrupt us despite us saying we planned on taking our time. We ordered charcuterie and planned to eat that for a while as we drank and chatted, but our server would not pick up the vibe and continued to interrupt our conversation to see if we were ready to order. This can be frustrating. I understand if they were busy and we were holding up a table, but the entire inside of the restaurant was empty, and I intentionally planned the time so as to not be a nuisance by sitting for too long. Beyond the service taking away from the experience, my meal was just not good. I ordered the kimchi meatloaf because I love kimchi, but it was so dry and dense that I took a bite and didn't want any more. Despite how often our server interrupted us, he didn't seem to notice that I had only taken a bite of my food. With so many better CRG restaurants in Indianapolis, I'll skip this one and head to those in the future. read more

Double date at Union 50 last night with out of town friends and everyone left happy. We started with drinks and the large charcuterie board. All the selections on the board were great, we especially loved the soft cheese and spicy salami. The bread that came with it was good and made it a filling appetizer for 4. Drink ranged from seasonal options like a fall sparkler topped with cider, pumpkin spice cocktails, to beer and gin and tonic. All were strong and good and I wouldn't hesitate to order them again. My entree was the ricotta gnocchi which was a simple dish but very good, flavorful, and filling. My date had a great steak with blue cheese potatoes and enjoyed that as well. read more
