I made an appointment with Amber at The Beard Room to get a haircut and get my out-of-control beard looking good. My expectations were exceeded! I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and Amber addressed me by name. Of course, that makes a person feel very welcome, and then being offered a beverage extended that welcome feeling. Amber was just finishing up with a customer before me, but I was in her comfortable Barber chair in just a few moments. Amber explained her approach and philosophy about shaping beards. She explained that she always looks to achieve a look that best complements the shape of the face the beard is on. Seeing the magic she had worked answered my quest to find someone who could put a great shape on my beard. As she applied coconut oil to the beard, she explained some tips about caring for my beard so that it stayed healthy. As I said before, my expectations were greatly exceeded. A note about the location... Getting there confused Google Maps - it had me in the small shopping center across from the Lee Hwy. It was a bit confusing since these townhouse-style professional offices do not face Lee Hwy.; they are, in fact, on an unnamed street perpendicular to Lee. If you are coming from Fairfax, it is on the right. Your landmark is a large Shell station just before the right turn into the address. If coming from Chantilly (West of the Kamp Washington area), your landmark is Havertys Furniture, on your right. Just past Havertys, you must turn LEFT onto the road next to the Shell station. The Beard Room is the first building, second door, on the left as you drive into their street. There was plenty of parking even on a Saturday. The business is located up a flight of stairs.
