I decided to choppity- chop off my long, long hair in the name of a fresh start. (See the photo attached. Isn't it fantastic despite my double chin and baggy clothes!?) Anyway, I chose this salon because they were open and I got in right away. I ended up getting a pixie-ish cut by the owner. She was friendly and quick. It wasn't exactly what it wanted but it's close enough and I still love it!!! The haircut was very, very affordable. The cut and a bottle of hairspray and tip came to $56. The kicker of this review is that in the shock and excitement of my haircut I left my purse at the salon. I forgot it for over 36 hours. By the time I realized they were closed so first thing next morning I came in to retrieve my purse..and everything was there nothing had disappeared. So she is quick, friendly and honest. The younger woman was kind and respectful of what I wanted and was talking to me every step of the way! The older woman who is the owner I assume, was rude and condescending when I mentioned the woman in my photo had longer hair than how it looked on myself, which ultimately led me to have a panic attack. This is a very good hair salon, where you can either walk in or make your appointment very easily. The stylists do excellent work for a fair price. They are also open on Sundays, so you can still get in your hair appointment if unable to on Saturday. I went to another well-known area shop for years, and when the pandemic hit, it hit them hard, even when they reopened. In the meantime, I found this shop easier to get into. This place had a good rating so I went there. The lady was nice, but I hate it when because you're a new customer or you're not a "regular", they don't really care about the service. As in...I requested a shampoo and a cut. The lady literally left me at the sink with my hair wet, so that she could tend to one of her regulars who walked through the door. They chatted for a little bit while I sat there but I'm like...you have a receptionist, and my hair is halfway washed/still wet. When she got done with that person, she finished and what not but you could tell that for the rest of my cut, she rushed because she wanted to get another customer in who had just walked through the door. The only place I get my hair cut off at! I usually go with Liz or Ruby and they're both so awesome. We have really great chats while I'm sitting in their chair. I am the sort of person that's scared of chopping off too much, but they check and make sure the length that came out of my mouth matches what will actually be cut off. I have A LOT of hair, but they always have a really sweet disposition to straightening it all out for me. Everyone here is incredibly attentive and easygoing. The prices are fantastic! I have been a loyal and satisfied client of this salon for about 8 years - since the shop was located in a hidden strip mall to their more visible location. I have been through gals who have come and gone, yet most of the hair stylists are permanent features. I am very picky about every detail of salons, especially my hair. I trust every lady at Unique Hair Design, although I have yet to sit in the chairs of two or three. About the prices: inexpensive for the quality. You pay more at the "haircut" chains where people come out upset at subpar cuts/styles. The hair products are also reasonably priced and are not found at nearby stores. Customer service: my personal experiences have been nothing but stellar. I am always made to feel welcome and my requests are treated with the highest regard. Unique Hair Design instantly became the family salon and we have never encountered a discontented moment. We each have our personal favorites, but I will leave it at that. read more

I went to this place once before getting my hair from black to a hot pink. They worked really hard to get it when I was turned down by another salon before me. However when I went in this time I sat down and she did a strand test on my dyed black hair. She did a strand test and said the strand came out red, the opposite of the color we were going for which was blue. However whenever bleaching or removing color from hair, the hair will always come out a red/reddish brown/yellow in some spots, so it's really just a basic common starting place for my hair. once it's red it can be bleached to a lighter shade and then go from there and so long as you use treatments, olaplex, hair masks, it's fine and your hair will recover from the damage of bleaching. However after she did the strand test, she put three types of blues over my hair on different strands of hair also strands that were not even changed. She would test it on strands that were brown and some still black and say that the dye didn't show up on my hair. After saying that she said Now I had to pick what I wanted to do. She said I can only grow my hair out and there is nothing else I can really do about it. I asked about olaplex, I asked her about bleaching it. I asked her about using a color remover but to no avail she stated to me that even using a color remover will not get the black out. she stated to me that the bleach she used was also a color remover and that the black still did not come out. I asked her "so what if I can get the black out and then come back to you" to which she replied "good luck you can do whatever you want but you're only going to damage your hair there is no way you can get this black color out". Very upset after my two failed salon visits of people that are just completely incompetent I go to Sally's and pick up an arsenal of tools. One of them being a L'Oreal color remover, and whoa shocker(sarcasm) it worked. First time using it, it took out all of the black from my hair and the damage was very minimal. I'm leaving this review now to tell you that do not even go out go to the salon because clearly they're not competent enough to use a simple color remover that you could literally by yourself and do yourself it's a waste of money. It also made absolutely no sense since I had been at the place before and they got me from a box dye black hair to a bright hot pink which is more difficult to get to then any shade of blue that I was going for. It just makes absolutely no sense that they would say there is absolutely no way you can get this color out all you have to do is wait for your hair to grow out that just made no sense and it was completely unprofessional and she didn't even she did a strand test and she didn't even give me a shade I could go for that day, she didn't give me options, all she said was oh it didn't work. Of course colors are hard to get to but that's why am at a damn salon this is your fucking job. This is literally why you're working here is to do what I can't do get this color out of my hair because this is why you're a professional however they are not professionals at unique hair design and I'm never going back there again because they clearly have no clue what the fuck they're doing. Never going back there again and being really really picky about whatever salon I go to from here on out. Guess that's what happens when a low level salon prioritizes money over the customers happiness. read more

The lady that did my hair, Rosa was her name if my memory is correct, was so sweet and patient to listen and make sure she was doing exactly what I wanted. I got the top 3/4's done a very dark brown and the tips faded into blonde. She was very patient and made that she had it the shade I had hoped for.
