I've been coming here for a little over a year, and I can say that Monique knows exactly what she's doing. This is the best hair styles I've had from a professional stylist ever!! I can honestly say she doesn't get 5 star reviews here from all of her clients for bad service. I just read a recent review of someone (AG) who seemed disappointed about a MISUNDERSTANDING, and that's not how Monique operates. She is the most honest and trustworthy person you will ever meet! I wouldn't judge an establishment on a business who (AG) only made ONE review so far with a 2 star, versus all the other 5's stars here. I wish I could say the same about the services I received from Monique. I have baby fine, naturally curly, Caucasian hair. If you cut an inch it's like taking 3. I have always had trouble finding someone who truly knows about my hair type. After extensive research, I thought I found it with Monique. She is very knowledgeable & had some great techniques, however, after 6 months I STILL can't wear my hair down....took 3 months to wear it back without wearing 20 bobby pins. My sister recommended her to me and I am so glad that she did! Monique is a real master at her craft.. she takes the time to figure out what would look good for your head shape. She uses all Kerastase products which is really nice-- she has many different bottles of potions and uses the right one for your hair texture / type. She did a clarifying treatment on my hair which was definitely worth the $30 I can't stop touching my hair it's so soft! Not only is she the best hairdresser I've ever had, but she is so funny and fun to talk too. My family and I just moved to Hawaii on May 9 and I needed to get a trimming really bad. I'm african american and everyone had told me before we moved here, "good luck on finding a hair stylist." I started googling hairstylists in Hawaii and this long list of stylists and salons came up. If the stylist/salon didn't have ratings, I would just scroll over it, because I am big on ratings. Anyways, I saw Monique Son and she had all five stars from every review with great comments...so I decided to contact her. We talked about the service I wanted to receive and set up an appt. She texted me directions and the day before my appt a reminder of the appt for the next day(never received a reminder text from a hair stylist...so professional:) I arrived there and she was extremely professional and friendly. She wanted to know about my hair's history like what type of products I use and chemicals I put in my hair and also recommended products that would help keep my hair healthy....she knows her stuff and is all about HEALTHY HAIR.....YAY. The shampoo service was the BOMB!!!! After the shampoo, she massaged my head with the conditioner in it....I literally almost fell asleep! My inverted bob had grown out so she cleaned it up for me; gave it more layers and more of an angled look! It turned out perfect! The finish was even great. Normally I have to repart my hair or just bring a comb just to comb it the way I like it after I received a service from someone, but not from Monique. My finish was great! I just really appreciate her dedication and knowledge towards what she does, because hair stylist these days are too comfortable and they forget how to simply be courteous towards a customer....Moniqe is just all around: friendly, professional, and well educated with hair and products! Needless to say, I've never ever in my life experienced such an experience with a hair stylist as I did today! I was previously going to (2) other high end salons in town but I never got that "WOWWWWWW I feel like a million bucks" feeling after always spending well over $120 a cut. Needless to say, that got painful on my pockets after a while because the pockets ain't juicy! Today was my very first time seeing Monique and she has me hooked. Monique is awesome! Super sweet and very knowledgeable and passionate about hair. So just a back story on my hair, I had done a digital perm 3 months ago and although I loved the perm, it had done a number on my hair. It was dry and damaged at the ends. I spent hundreds of dollars on products to bring it back to life but nothing helped. I knew what I had to do which was to cut off all the dead ends but I needed a hair stylist that was very knowledgeable on how to deal with digital permed hair. I'm so glad I found Monique on Yelp. I basically left my hair in her hands. She analyzed my hair and recommended a hair cut that addressed my wants and concerns. End result? She did a wonderful job with cut, style and most importantly, she brought life and health back into it which was my number one concern. She also taught me how to style and use the products which btw made my hair feeling so luxurious. It's been over 1 1/2 years since my last haircut... it was a mess and needed much help!! Monique was not only so kind and generous, she was beautiful and talented... and super AWESOME!!! My hair got the ultimate care and treatment it deserved, and more! The shampoo and massage was relaxing and pamperous... Monique gives good head massages, hands down!
