Who do you call to tow a 66,000 lb stranded truck in front of your driveway? I've only used a tow truck 4 times in my 64 years of life. Some of you 21 year olds can probably match that record, those who park in no parking areas. First time it was after an evening of tennis at Evergreen tennis center when they were constructing left and right in 1981. Drove my girlfriend's Mustang across the dirt in the dark, and landed with the front wheels in a shallow construction trench. Driving while Asian! Got a ride from another tennis player and the girlfriend called the tow truck from a nearby phone -no cell phones in those days. Girlfriend didn't hold it against me, and we were married 19 years. Second time a co worker called me to bail her out, when she drove her Previa van forward into a vacant cement planter in a shopping mall. She made the mistake of continuing driving until all 4 wheels were off the ground, with the body of the vehicle on the planter. This was right before Thanksgiving, and the car required a crane to pick it off the planter. Car suffered both mechanical and body damage, and was in the shop until after Christmas. Yes, a foreign born Asian lady! Third time, my second wife's 2001 Nissan Altima blew a head gasket after 161,000 miles in 2013 . I had the car towed by AAA at no charge back to my house, where I sold it to my janitor for $200. Fourth time in Hawaii, went swimming with an electronic key and fried the battery, preventing me from starting the engine of the rental car. Rental car company called a tow truck to tow me 40 miles across the island of Maui. Alamo ate the tow charges. Earlier this week, I walked to tennis, past a new house being built. Two fully loaded cement mixer trucks with their engines and mixers running were waiting to lay down the slab foundation. 3 hours later I'm walking back home, and the cement mixer truck is in front of my house. Now we have some cracks in the driveway and could use a new cement driveway. This cement mixer truck is not moving. 33 tons fully loaded -let's hope they discharged the cement, as otherwise it's going to solidify in the mixer. Heavy duty tow truck from Unique Towing out there. Don't think they had a flat bed strong enough to handle a 33 ton truck. In this case they lifted up the front of the cement mixer on the towing boom of the 50 foot long heavy duty tow truck. Driver knew what he was doing, and they got that monster out of here. Now if one of your neighbors parks his ragged old eyesore pickup camper in front of your house for more than 72 hours, you know who to call! read more

My car battery died right around the corner of my house at a small intersection. I was very scared and nervous as this was my first car breakdown on the road. Took our car from our complex, not even one notice first. He was in the wrong spot, sure, HOWEVER, That spot isn't even being used! It's been empty for 6 months and still is. They refused to even let us retrieve our belongings from the vehicle OR give us any paperwork or documents. My car got a flat and tire pressure was getting lower and lower. I didn't feel safe driving it especially since today was in the high 90s. Humberto came and called me when he arrived as he wasn't sure where my car since it's a shared complex parking lot. He offered for me to wait inside his tow truck while he put my car on the bend. Had a flat tire on my Tesla and they were the ones called on behalf of Tesla Roadside Assistance. Friendly, quick and efficient service. Don't know what the value is since I wasn't the paying party. The only thing they could've maybe done better is to carry a tire inflating compressor. In my case my tire was toast. In other cases the tire might be saved and in those cases you could avoid damaging it further by not driving on a completely flat tire. read more

So, I called GEICO for a jump start so I could take my car to the shop, it was leaking radiator fluid from the back of the engine and as I saw it this could only have come from a rusted out freeze plug. I was saving up all my paychecks and, unfortunately looking forward to no Christmas at all when Joe from Unique Towing showed up to give me a jump start. As soon as I started my truck he told me to shut it off, I couldn't possibly imagine why since it was dead as a doornail, but he immediately drew my attention to the heater switch block at the back of the engine. We are talking about a $40.00 part maybe more when I was looking at possibly thousands! I don't have to tell you that this man did not have a thing to gain by telling me, and yet he took the time to explain exactly what I was looking at and what I needed to do to correct it! The wait was not long at all, less than 30 min. We were not in the most ideal area for a car to be towed! We were parked in a small parking lot dedicated for the ER and hospital use, so cars were coming through nonstop. Jeff was a pro and was great at handling the situation. Great, awesome, fantastic! This is a actually the 2nd time I've used Unique Towing. The 1st was some numb nuts moron blew through a stop sign, and hit my wife's car in the back, breaking the axle. Stupid moron. So got the car towed from there, and that car ended up totalled. This time, our 3rd backup car started, then wouldn't start, cranked but wouldn't catch. The lady dispatcher said it would be 30 min, but luckily it was only about a 5 min wait. Tony was great. Quick, professional. I'd definitely use them again. read more

Unique Towing is great. I've used them in the past for vehicle tows but today Jim towed a large tool chest for me on a flatbed and took amazing care of me. He arrived promptly, was super friendly, and I enjoyed talking with him as we loaded and unloaded the chest. My tool chest was safe the whole time and he paid extra attention to make sure it wasn't damaged during loading or transport. I would absolutely use them again. I was going to drive to Sacramento to see a show until I found that my battery was dead and my car wouldn't start! I got the contacts of Unique Towing from Geico. I called them up and they were here in ~30 mins to jump my car. It was a smooth process and I was able to catch my show eventually. Also the person who came was able to answer a few questions for me and let me know what I should do next, in a very friendly manner. Hopefully I won't need this again because I will buy one of those portable chargers for such situations. But I would recommend the service to anyone who might need it. read more

My Tesla got a bad small battery (not the big battery) and Jon came out to help. It was a complicated setup, where my car was in the garage and we couldn't open the hood until we dragged it out a bit. Then we were able to get the car jump started enough to get it onto the tow truck for a repair. Jon (#106) was genial, polite, knew what he was doing, and wore a mask the entire time. I needed my '66 Mustang towed from San Francisco to San Jose. Because it was garaged in the infamous SF tiny garages without a driveway, in the infamous narrow SF streets, multiple companies declined the job. When I called Unique Towing they went above and beyond what a tow company does. They gave me a reasonable quote which never changed from start to finish of the job. When I met their driver at SF, they sent me Jimmy, the best ever as far as skill, knowledge, and most of all on customer service, the flatbed tow truck looked like it was brand new as well. He maneuvered the truck like it was VW Bug with the most precise turns. To get the Mustang out of the garage, it was like poking a 3000 lb thread through the eye of a needle. He used every single device in his truck and was able to get a non operable classic safely onto the flatbed with out any damage to the car or the tiny garage door. The drop off in SJ went just as smoothly as he was able to fit it in my two car garage and still have room for my other car. This company not only accomplished a job that 2 other tow companies wouldn't even consider, they made the process so smooth from beginning till the end. This is the best towing experience I have ever had, and I tried many companies before. This is for my Tesla that had the 12 V dead battery. The first trial, the driver was so generous trying to help me out charge the car instead of towing it, I did jump start it before and it never worked but he didn't give up, then after that he tried to take the car from my very narrow garage and he was careful not to damage the big battery underneath so he told me he will ask another car to try the task. Then the other car came not so long after and Nimo was generous to ask me if there is anything I can try to solve the issue without towing but we tried everything. Nimo got the car out of the garage like a thread out of needle. I am impressed with the team, fantastic job! read more

My car was impounded by unique towing. They assumed that my car was totaled and decided to create an additional $3000+ in damage. The forklift driver destroyed the underside of the car. Broken fuel lines, evap lines, all of the covers are torn, side skirt has a massive hole in it and the rear bumper is torn. Not to mention he had a small child in his lap while operating the forklift as if it was some kind of game. They refused to pay me more than $1000 and I ended up paying $2000+ out of pocket to fix my car. read more

I was incredibly impressed with the driver's care and driving skills. Our driveway is steep and many large trucks gouge the pavement when they drive up. As a car person, I always need to have an excuse, today, it was the daylight savings time change. Locked my keys in the car first thing in this Sunday morning. Called Unique up and they were at my apartment in less than 10 minutes. I had the window already a hair lowered so when Jimmy got here it was a quick grab of the handle with their tools and the door was open in less than a minute. So thankful for Unique Towing and their drivers, Ernest and Robert. My car got stuck with a bald, leaky tire and my car insurance company sent Unique Towing. I was so stressed out thinking I would be there the rest of the afternoon waiting for a tow truck but Ernest was there within 15 minutes with a smile on his face and such a friendly and helpful attitude that I couldn't help but feel a little more relaxed. Unfortunately, of all the tire stores on my insurer's list, I happened to choose the one that was out of business(!) but Ernest texted me right away and waited for me to give him further instructions. With his help, the car was towed to another tire center. I didn't find out until later in the day that the tire center that my car had been towed to couldn't get the tires I needed for another few days. The next morning, I found yet another tire center that had the tires in stock. I texted Ernest and asked how much a second tow would cost since my insurance wouldn't cover another tow. He gave me the main office number and I was able to compare their price with several other tow companies. They were one of the least expensive and had the quickest turn around time. Ernest even texted to check in on me throughout the morning to ask if I had been able to get my car taken care of. Wow! In the end, I was able to arrange another tow and this time, Robert was the driver. Another competent and friendly person who arrived 20 minutes early and waited for me!!
