This was the easiest car rental experience I have had. I got off the plane and waited 2 minutes for a van to pick me up after I called the toll-free number. The driver was very pleasant, safe, and got me quickly to the office where my car was waiting. He loaded my luggage into my car, and I literally was on my way in 5 minutes. I extended the car rental twice during my visit with an easy phone call to the office - with NO upcharges, which was great. When I returned the car, the driver took me directly to my gate in my rental car so it was easy to get my luggage back to the airport. I rented from United Auto Rental and immediately noticed a warning on the tire. I called to check it out but they didn't answer the phone. I went to get the tire inspected, was gone for only an hour, and when I came back they tried to charge me for EXTRA full day anyway. Instead of resolving the issue, they sent me to collections over this ridiculous charge. For the next two months, I got constant harassing calls from an overseas call center, and now this nonsense is on my credit report. They are vindictive, unethical, and completely unprofessional. They picked us up from John Wayne Airport, and gave us a great rate for our rental car. Sid was able to get us into a like new Camry. I believe with less than 100 miles on it. So we were basically driving a brand new car. We will be using them again in the future for sure. read more

When flying from Chicago to LA, I much prefer flying in to John Wayne airport (SNA) over LAX. It's much smaller and less crowded. I've been using United Auto Rental for about 6 years. I've always been happy with their service and prices. This trip, we got our checked bag, and called immediately for a pickup. I then went to the bathroom, and by the time we got to the pickup location (which is a very short walk), Amber was already waiting for us in the minivan with the doors and the rear hatch open. It's only a few minute drive to their office where we got the car with no hassles. I wish everything in life was this easy. read more

This was by far, the best experience we have ever had with a car rental! As soon as we got our baggage and called United Auto Rental, they came withen 5 minuts to pick us up to get the car. It was incredibly easy to get the car and start our vacation. The last few times we used Hertz or Budget, or any other car rental company, even if we did the early check in, it would take FOREVER for us to get our car. We woudl have to take a shuttle and stand in line. It usually amounted to over an hour lost of our vacation. Returning the car was simple too. I love this company. If I could give zero stars I would. I purchased a vehicle at the Ontario location from Tom who will not give a last name and claims to be the owner of both facilities. The car had damages Tom did not disclose. Not only did he not disclose the damages he followed up by the accusation that I have cause the preexisting damages to the vehicle. The car has body frame damage it has a chunk of the transmission broken off, you can only see when the vehicle is lifted. He is extremely dishonest. When I spoke to him the first time he said Sid was his supervisor. When I tried to reach Sid, Tom answered and is now stating there is no one higher above him and he is the owner. Sadly he cannot get his story straight, no surprise there. Untrustworthy thief. I would recommend taking your business else where. read more

Really poor customer service. Find some place else for your needs. Due to the fires, our annual camping/rafting trip this year was cancelled and we were notified of closures the day before our reservation started. This was out of our control, as our whole group was ready to go. Once I received the information of closures I contacted all the rental places (van, raft, and lodging) to let them know and both the raft and lodging places were accommodating, letting us postpone our rental to the following year labor day wknd (we always go during LDW). United Rental, however, penalized us $129.99 for the cancellation and said "they lost out on money that weekend too, because we cancelled". How are you losing out on money when you could have offered to postpone our reservation to the following year and gain a repeat customer? Then my validity was challenged by the Manager, Tom, saying "I don't know what really happened"-- I even offered to show him our reservation postponements for the rafts and lodging (since we didn't get a refund and they agreed to postpone and sent new confirmations) but he didn't care. Really disappointed at UAR, and I will NOT be using them again in the future. read more

If you rent from here you only get 250 miles per day and after that it's .28 cents/mile. The price for a week was great just didn't read the fine print and I paid almost the same price as the Airport Rentals for unlimited miles. After being lied to, and given a price $150 dollars more than I was quoted, with a confirmation number at Enterprise, I was 3,000 miles from home with no rental car. United Auto Rental saved my vacation. Staff person on duty , Javier listened to my horror story about being just brushed aside, and left stranded at John Wayne Airport, checked the inventory and got me into a 2020 Nissan Rouge for $350 dollars cheaper than Enterprise, Alamo, Thrifty etc. I would recommend United Auto Rental to anyone The experience was top notch. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!! 2 weeks ago I reserved a 12 passenger van for a family vacation on 6/10//21. TODAY 6/9/21 the day before our trip I received a call from Sid the owner claiming that the van was in an accident and does not have another van. He offered me 2 separate vehicles to substitute for the van. I explained that we are taking children and cannot have separate vehicles. He said there was nothing he could do. I made a formal demand for him to take responsibility and locate another van as this is the day before we are to leave! He claims he did and nothing is available. He reiterated "OUT OF HIS CONTROL AND NOTHING HE CAN DO". I call BS on this business! The same way he warned me of a 1 day charge/ penalty if I didn't cancel the reservation within 72 hours of pickup date. He should also have to pay up/penalty for not having said vehicle the day before I am to pick up! AGAIN I WARN YOU NOT TO RENT FROM THEM AS THEY WILL RUIN YOUR VACATION!! I rented a Hyundai Elantra for a trip to Vegas this past year. On my return trip back in the middle of the freeway, the back bumper flapped out. They are charging me for the damages in full when there was no collision or accident on my part. Not only did Rob get them into a car quickly so they could get on with their amazing vacation, but he was incredibly sweet and kind. I give 1 star only because I have to. I was speechless when I called Tuesday morning to let united know I was on my way to pick up my reserved cargo van when the person on the phone said ," oh , um , nobody called you yesterday?" I said no . That is when I was informed that my vehicle was not available as it was not returned . I asked for something comparable and was told that they had nothing available. I said ,nothing??? What about another location, a pick up truck, mini van etc? They said nothing available. I explained that I had a motel reservation and movers reserved in Monterey which are non refundable if I cancel this late. The phone went silent...I didn't know what to say!!! Apparently neither did they. I tried calling everywhere over the next couple of hours in Orange County . Nothing available for that day. I called United back and asked them if they had any type of vehicle that I could transport some cargo in and was offered a small SUV at higher milage cost per the manager . Then after much debate Jordan, the CSR, got the rate down to be equal to the cargo van. Unfortunately it ends up I couldn't use that suv as it was much too small . This type of customer service is unexcusable and very avoidable. The manager showed no care or concern for the monies I would be losing due to their mishandling of my reservation. Jordan , the csr I spoke with, was the only person who seemed to care at all at United Auto Rental at the John Wayne Airport. The manager was not willing to accept any responsibily for the mess that they caused me. The money lost, (over $700 ) or the time lost and frustration and panic I was experiencing due to their error. I was obviously easy to forget once they didn't have to deal with me anymore .... Soon as the phone call ended I am sure they quickly forgot about me and my situation and were done with me. They got to move on with their day. It is clear that the way they handle customer satisfaction is they don't. I was nothing but a pain in the butt customer that deserves nothing .... Nobody tried to even compensate me for the horror that was now my day. Rented Red Elantra for ~$40, super friendly guy. The service is as good as it gets: I had a flight the next day, he flexed it to the hour before and had someone drive me to John Wayne. He could've charged me for two days or made me return it in the 24 hour period but he didn't do that and threw in the ride to the airport for free. Totally would return. Fast, cheap, friendly. This place is a RIP Off! My husband and I came here because no other rental car place In the airport would accept a debit card to rent us a car. One of the rental car companies told us about this place and it was only a 5 minute drive from the airport so we came here. They have a 150 mile per day limit which is unlike most car rental places these days who offer Unlimited milage he quoted us $31.99 but after asking us how we heard about them and us telling him that Dollar rental in the airport told us he said "Oh, then I have to charge you airport rates and that's $39.99 a day" wtf? Then they wanna charge us $29.99 for insurance per day when we have our own insurance coverage! These people can kiss my arse, keep their damn car and park it straight up their arses! Biggest RIP off in Car rental I've seen in my car rental life! I would NOT recommend them to my worst enemy if I had one! Very Dissappointing. Rip off crooks!! If they want to have the reputation of being just this then do nothing about my transaction. If you are willing to make it right, then I will revise this post, but I feel ripped off and have no problem sharing my word with every social media outlet I know of. Being a marketing executive, I can do some damage. PEOPLE BEWARE OF RENTING FROM THEM. Unless you want to have money taken out of your bank account whenever ...they will charge you all sorts or erroneous charges taxes etc after you return your vehicle. And if you dont get a full detail with every speck of link vacuumed up before you return it, they will charge you a 200 cleaning fee. Businesses like this wont last very long. They are so focused on taking all they can out of a transaction, that they can care less about a client for life philosophy. I qwas charged a 200 "cleaning fee" because they said the car was excessively dirty. When i spent 5 minutes when I returned the car to wipe out the car as a courtesy to them. Who does that?? No one but I did. They still charged me $$ just because they have your card information and the power of the pen, and sadly they will take your money. Keep in mind, when you rent a car there will be some remnants of the outside find it way into a car. That's standard. Was it clear that I needed to get a carwash before I left the parking lot? No? Was it clear that there was going to be a cleaning fee if I didnt return the car the way I took it out? No. If they can go charge people whatever they want whenever they want to , then they should give the customer an opportunity to get the car cleaned themselves. If they say the car is dirty, then they need to show me proof because this is just a scandalous way to make a buck off of people and a dishonest way of conducting business. Also, if you keep the car longer than what your contract is, they will report your car stolen. Come on, everyone keeps the car an extra couple of days. that's why they charge a per diem fee. The list goes on. Keep your reservation with Enterprise, dont waste your time with this place. read more

Stop n go asked DOUBLE the price of United and SNA was offering an older model. Happened to turn out United had the car type, color, price, and availability at the right time. The ranking would be 1. United auto 2. SNA 8. Stop n go Don't even bother stop n go, they priced TWICE as much as United auto. Offered no monthly rate because it's summer and they're busy... they had two 3 mustangs just sitting there eating depreciation. Go to united auto. I would definitely come back. read more

I logged on to rewrite my review for United Auto Rental after the manager called me several days ago to explain why the rate they charged me was higher than the daily rate listed on the website. He added that for the inconvenience, he would refund the difference (with my credit card that he states he has on file - did not approve that either) as long as I updated my review. This has yet to happen. He also didn't want to take any responsibility for any smells lingering in the vehicles that his company represents. So, here we are, no refund. Definitely poor follow through. And stinky, overpriced vehicles. My updated review: Sheisty. United Auto Rental is a boutique car rental company in Southern California with three branches at smaller local airports--Orange County, Ontario and San Diego. Although small, they offer wonderful value and service to their customers. I have only rented a car out of the John Wayne/Orange County Airport (SNA) but would absolutely use them again at any of their locations. For the SNA branch, they do not have a counter at the airport. But their office is located down the street and they are very quick and responsive about sending a shuttle to pick you up. They do have the most detailed car inspection I've ever seen so it does take a bit longer than usual to get out the door but I don't mind because checking the car thoroughly protects both the consumer and company. Their return process is super easy...like most other companies, you can just drop off the car. However, unlike some other rental companies, United Auto Rental makes you feel like you borrowed your good friend's car and are just stopping by to return the keys. I never worried about the possibility of getting charged with some bogus fees afterwards. Everyone I interacted with was very nice and friendly, going out of their way to be helpful. I had received an online price quote that I was happy with but when I showed up, they checked their rates again (I didn't have to ask) and ended up giving me the car for even less! I should mention that their hours at SNA are a bit limited but that shouldn't be a problem considering how flights in and out of this airport are also pretty limited (e.g. no red eyes). I had a wonderful experience renting from United Auto Rental and love supporting local small businesses so will definitely be a repeat customer! read more

We rented a minivan from them for a 2-week family vacation in Orange county and couldn't have been happier with their service. They picked us up from the airport right as they were closing and in the van itself so we could load up our kids' car seats. The person that picked us up was friendly, professional, and efficient. The vehicle was great, it had 18,000 miles on it but looked/drove brand new. Originally I was looking at intermediate SUVs, but their price on the minivan was better than what I was getting for SUVs from the national chains, and given how much luggage we had with us traveling with two small children, it worked out perfectly. We visit this area often and will not be renting from anyone else going forward. read more

WOW, if I could give a negative review I would. Found these guys on kayak, and they advertised unlimited miles, but that's only if you have a boarding pass. Locals only get 150 miles per day...LOOK AT THE TERMS CAREFULLY...sigh. Upon arrival, I had to wait a bit before this guy walks out mid-conversation with another person finally helped me. Didn't have great customer service and wasn't too helpful...the guy who did the walkthrough with my rental car was ever worst. The car itself was not great, but that was already expected for the price. There were a couple dents and burn marks on the seats and the speakers we not great quality. Overall, I WOULD NOT recommend this company, horrible customer service. There's other car rental places that have similar rates, you just need to go in and speak with the front desk people and they'll give you a discount majority of the time. Only went here because it was last minute and boy was I disappointed! I had reserved a car for my trip to SoCa into John Wayne Airport several months ago, but decided to check rates again last week. United Auto Rentals came up on the screen and decided to check them out. A local company I was not familiar with, but their rates on a compact car were 1/3 less than what I reserved, and over 50% lower than the big boys! I reserved a compact, they picked my up at the airport, received a 2021 Toyota Corolla, clean and gassed up. Everything was perfect, I returned the car will a full tank, and they took me back to the airport. The staff was very polite and I will definitely use them again on my next trip to SoCa.
