D., THE LISTED "OWNER" HERE ON YELP, REPLIED THANKING HIM AS A FALSE "CUSTOMER" 2/9/2018. My car was illegally towed from a legally parked handicap spot with the placard showing. I took a Lyft to go pick up my vehicle and ADAM proceeded to accept my payment for my vehicle at 10:01 PM. I was THEN notified that since they only have ONE key for the gate and another driver was out towing another vehicle with the key that I had to wait until they returned. IT TOOK OVER 30 MINUTES for the other driver to return and open my car. I was then told that I could not drive my own car out of the garage and I HAD TO surrender my key to the other driver so he could enter my vehicle and drive it off their property. I have been towed before and in general, it's never a pleasant experience to have your car towed. It is also increasingly frustrating when you have to pay $339.10 to release your car for no more than 3 hours of ILLEGAL REMOVAL AND STORAGE. After about 25 minutes passed, we proceeded to inquire more about when exactly the keys would be returning as it was almost 10:30 PM on a Thursday night. ADAM then proceeded to respond with "just be patient and sit down" and I didn't think that was an appropriate response so I continued imploring him to reach out to his partner. His next response involved threatening us he'll "call the cops" which we happily agreed to a visit from law enforcement. It is interesting to think how he deemed it so necessary to call law enforcement at this point when I just wanted to receive my car and return home after I paid the outrageous fee. It ended up being a bluff as they were not called as we continued to sit there but the level of egregious unprofessionalism was outmatched. ADAM MALLORY was very unpleasant to deal with and while we waited he proceeded to return to his desk to work on his taxes at his desk on TurboTax.com. When concluding the interaction, I wished him good luck with his taxes and he proceeded to explain that the taxes were so complicated since he has 3 foster kids that he takes care of and their actual parents claim all of them. I don't know much about taxes or his situation but after reading his false reviews and illegally removing my vehicle I cannot imagine that was true either and Adam was trying to elicit a sympathetic response so I wouldn't be as disgruntled with my experience. ADAM has already established a baseline of deception and I would NEVER use a company that deems these practices acceptable as the OWNER REPLIED TO THE FALSE REVIEW. This company is shady AF. I'd be willing to bet money that every single one of their positive reviews are from people they know personally that have never had to actually deal with them on any sort of professional level. My rental car was towed from a handicap spot with the handicap placard up in plain site. I've been trying to get it out for the last 4 days and can barely get anyone to answer the phone there and when I do I am told that no one will be in the office for the next 5-7 hours and then when I call after those 5-7 hours I get hung up on multiple times while being told I'm being put on hold. What the hell is this? Is this your version of upselling cause this is insane that you keep the clock running despite claiming to be open 24 hours 7days a week yet there is apparently never anyone in office to process customers. I wish there was some way to hold these towing companies accountable for this kind of crap. How on earth do they keep getting contracts when they're literally in the business of scamming people. So after my apartment (please read both my reviews for Icon Plaza.. bleck) towed my car after lying to me about the parking situation, I was left to deal with these scummy people. The original charge was $300+, which is ridiculous as this is literally a mile and a half away from my apartment. Anyways, after much arguing with Icon about how maybe their incompetent leasing staff shouldn't be making false statements they can't back up, I was told I need to pay "only" $170 to get my car back. I have been calling these people all today and they have not been straight up or honest with me once. How are you going to tell me that you're taking a huge loss from this right after you tell me that Icon is paying the rest? WTF? You're not making any loss, and I'm not an idiot so please don't take me as one. Then you refuse to tell me why a one and a half mile tow is so expensive?? "Our drivers make commission and have to put bread on the table" ummm first of all, your drivers are most likely salaried by either the hour or by a base ON TOP OF THEIR COMMISSION, and your drivers make max $30k a year so they're not getting more than a 10th of what I'm paying or more people would want to be truck drivers. I just got my car back from United Carrier, Inc. These are the guys you see when something has gone badly wrong in your life, and the country you live in is circling the drain so fast that for ever broke person, there's someone broker trying to scam them. I drove into the Honda Plaza for lunch, and hit the ticket button twice before realizing nobody was in the booth, and both gates were wide open. Lots of other cars rolled through the same way. Obviously, none of us had taken, or were handed, any kind of stub, or told we couldn't park there by security. I spent time and money in the plaza for several hours, walked through Little Tokyo a bit, and dropped back in the late evening/early morning. Mind you, there is nothing posted in the parking lot about policies regarding parking and patronizing the plaza. As with the city lot by the MOCA, and the lot across from the JANM, this is a paid lot, but free with validation. Meaning the only legit case where'd you'd pay the attendant is if you didn't go to any business within the plaza. Contrast this with the Office Depot lot across the street, which is free, but parking is only permitted for patrons of the businesses there. Nonetheless, I had eaten at Aloha Cafe, and spent a couple more hours hanging out in the very plaza. I headed back to the Honda Plaza to check out Bar C around midnight (open till 2 in the fucking am). There's a big puff of air where my car was; though I think I did sense the crackling of wickedness and the stench of corruption. I searched for signs posted about towing policies, limits, etc. One sign said that cars parked when lot isn't open (i.e. the gates are open, but no one is there to give you a stub) will be subject to the regular fee when the lot does open (at a time not stated). It also says the lot closes (attendants leave, gates are open) at 11pm, giving no statement of policy in that regard. The public parking garage in the building where I work will close the gate and lock your car in if you don't pick it up before closing. They're clear about that, and they damn well don't tow you. Furthermore, if being there past 11pm was a problem for the lot, wouldn't it be a bigger problem for the businesses still open for the three hours afterward? Then there's a sign about towing, with no criteria beyond "improperly parked" or "unauthorized" vehicles being subject to tow. What makes a car unauthorized? Lack of ticket? Should I have turned back when I saw no one was there? Should I have gone out to get my stub at the time unknown to me when the attendants decided to do their damn jobs? As it turns out, I did nothing wrong, according to CA law. See the end of this review for the reason. My friend had been through this shit before, and not only drove me to the impound lot, but coached me on what questions to ask to get important pieces of information later. The place has a side view of freeway at either end of the street, and a shanty town down the sidewalk, in case you missed the fact that this is an abscess of misery and despair. A Don Vito-esque guy named Jorge was running the logistics of car theft and ransom behind a two inch thick plastic window "Who called for the tow?" "The building," he said. "It's a plaza. What building?" "They got you on camera. They have a picture of where your car was parked." "What the f...? Who called it in?" "Security called it in! You didn't pay parking ticket!" He flashed some piece of paper at the window, but wouldn't let me see it or copy down any information. He made it sound like I'd had some unpaid city parking ticket, which is not even in the ballpark of what this was. I suppose trying to make his scam sound more scary and official. After dealing with this lout and his guilty evasions, I finally got the number of some unnamed persons who supposedly called in the tow. It literally just happened, so I haven't called them yet. When they let my car out of their torture cave, I checked every obvious place I could think of for missing items. On that count, it seemed the only thefts that'd taken place were the $264 in their "services" and "storage" I'd paid for, and their original theft of my car in the form of illegal towing. And now, I bring you the important bit: "CALIFORNIA CODES VEHICLE CODE SECTION 22952b. Every person engaged in the operation of off-street parking facilities is guilty of a violation, who: Tows or removes or authorizes the towing and removal of any vehicle when such parking facilities are held open for public use and there was no attendant on duty or other facilities permitting the patron to pay or remit the parking charges at the time such vehicle was first parked. This subdivision shall not affect or limit any parking lot operator from charging parking fees in accordance with his posted schedule for the time such vehicle is parked." We called AAA when we were stuck on a curb we couldn't see as flood waters rose near 50th & Los Ángeles and we were stuck with one other vehicle. Long story short, he picked up the stranded vehicle next to us and moved his stalled vehicle because our axle was setting on the curb which of course as the rains ceased we could now see. He returned, figured out a way to lift the vehicle so as not to damage our axle, my husband put the car in reverse and we were free! They saved my life! I was driving down Fig and 22nd when my car started to make a noise & began to slow down. My boyfriend popped the hood and the alternator belt and power steering belt came off completely. After trying to fix it ourselves with no luck I decided to get a tow truck. I ended up speaking to an incredibly nice man named Luis who was very helpful during the process. Because the ETA of a tow truck was 2 hours due to their high-demand services he offered to get the car towed back to his shop so that we wouldn't be stranded in the car for 2 hours and told us we could go home and he'd take care of everything. My car got towed back and after speaking to my mechanic the next morning l called Luis back and they sent my car to my mechanic right away!
