If I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. We've banked here for years, and it's shocking how far this place has fallen. What used to be a reliable, customer-focused branch has turned into a frustrating, poorly run operation. They've cut lobby and drive-thru hours to the point of being downright inconvenient, and any sense of valuing long-time customers is completely gone. Customer service hasn't just slipped--it's fallen off a cliff. The MoPac and Parmer location used to have quality team, but they've all clearly fled, and what's replaced them is unhelpful, and indifferent. At this point, it's obvious they don't care about their customers or the relationships they've built. I presently have a rv note with this institution. This is my only debt, and I haven't had a late payment since initiation approximately 5 years ago. I was pre-approved for a car loan on 01/01/2026 through this institution, my debt to income ratio is 18%. When I went to CarMax to get my car, I contacted my loan officer and he denied my loan, even though I was pre-approved. He stated that my 18% debt to income is too high. If you know about debt to income ratios, you would realize that mine is probably better than every employee of UHCU. I was embarrassed in front of my CarMax salesman and ended up walking out of the dealership. read more

I have been banking with the credit union for over 14 years and LOVE almost everything about them. However, there process of replacing a debit card is HORRIBLE! 4 times in a row this year, my debit card has had to be replaced. Yet I never receive it from there vendor they use to issue debit cards. Every time, I have to ask for them to replace it manually and my average wait period to receive my replacement debit card is 4 weeks. If I pay them $50 they will provide a tracking number and ensure I receive it timely. I spoke with several managers and they are not able to assist or explain what the issue is. I have been a member since 1972, when this CU was Bergstrom AFB CU ever since UHCU took over service has gone down hill. I get my statements on line. It was a good process. Now they have preformed an update and I can't get my statement. Something about cookies which the program will not let me "continue" to fix. So the customer service person tells me if I switch to "mailed" statements I will loose the interest rate I get on this account. That doesn't even make since with the Feds raising the interest rates yet again today. I guess it is time to move on. UHCU is getting like the government. TOO MUCH RED TAPE! read more

Regina did what every salesperson should do; she followed up on an inquiry I had made last December and she explained the process and some of the requirements. They say they are very coustomer service orientated but this is not so in my opinion. Can't access account on line due to having to replace my phone and was unable to transport old number. Because of this I am unable to receive a code to access my account. Was told I would have to come in and update info in person or send a hand written letter with ID to do this. Gosh, I'm really starting to feel like a grouch lately. After my last review, I told myself that the next one would be a positive one. Unfortunately, that's not the case here. I don't know if I have a bank curse or what, but I'm just generally an unhappy banking customer. I don't agree or understand with the numerous amounts of fees for every little thing that you do with a bank and the customer service is usually less than friendly. After being bludgeoned by several past banks, I took a friends suggestion and made the switch to Untied Heritage Credit Union. I've never been more unhappy with a decision to switch banks as I am with this one. The way that they handle their Web Bill Pay services is just wonky, never consistent and when I call their Customer Service line to ask some questions, I get nothing but rude people on the other end, who are obviously put off by my questioning and are obviously trying to get me off the phone as fast as possible. I thought it was bad at my previous bank, when I would always get routed to someone with a very thick Indian accent who's "names" were things like Bob and Jim and Mark and "lived" in Washington State. Comical, but I'm not stupid. However, atleast when I could understand what they were saying to me, they were nice and helpful. These people, at UHCU need some serious customer service training. Also, totally my fault for not looking more closely at their fees beforehand, but their banking fees here are the worst that I've seen on top of the poor service. Sigh. Maybe I'll just turn into one of those people that puts their money away in a jar and pays for everything in cash. At this point, it's really not sounding like a bad alternative. read more

United Heritage Credit Union - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Austin, Texas

UHCU financed my wife's car before we were married. After we got married I set up a bill payment from USAA every two weeks. Right away they started loosing the payments. They would not allow me to discuss the details even when she told them to. We squared it away at a personal cost to us. That was in July. I just got the 4th quarter statement and discovered that out of the last 7 payments they've lost another check we sent in December. This bank is LOUSY at handling transaction and LOUSY at recovering from their own mistakes. When this car is paid off I will never do business with them again. read more

I can't believe I wasted so many years banking with large "retail" banks. We joined UHCU in 2009 and haven't looked back. Their branches are conveniently located around Austin, and because they're part of a national Credit Union netork you can use most credit union ATMs around Austin and around the country without a fee. Even better, if you have Direct Deposit and use your debit card for purchases (I think 10 a month?) they'll refund all the ATM fees that you incur using a non-Credit Union ATM. That saves us about $20 a month, because sometimes you just need cash when you're not near a CU ATM. Online account access (including Billpay) is free and fairly convenient. There's no smartphone app, but that's not a big deal IMO. As for the $5 "Checking Advantage" fee, it really doesn't bother me. It's the ONLY fee we've even paid UHCU, and you get a bunch of fairly useful services. Some discounts (eyeglasses, etc) in addition to Identity Theft protection, coverage against fraudululent use of your Debit card, and some extra AD&D insurance. Nice little suite of services for $5, and if you don't want it, don't sign up! We've since moved a bunch of other accounts to UHCU and it's been excellent. I would STRONGLY recommend checking them out if you need a new bank. read more

Lately customer service has been bad I get misinformation they want me to access my account to resolve a problem, but I am not authorized to access it. Had an accident with one of my vehicles and the process to pay off my Silverado that was total loss is taking entirely too long. United Heritage Credit Union seemed to not be concerned at all with the COVID-19 situation and the bad things that are happening, I will contact BBB, and also Consumer Affairs, very noncustomer friendly and difficult to deal with. Buyer Beware!! Do not bother getting a car loan or refinancing. These people are selling financial predatory products. GAP insurance is a JOKE. They will charge you $400 or more and if you want to sell your vehicle before your loan is due you will NOT be able to get a refund on the unused portion of the insurance. Refunds only during the first 60 days of purchase! Never have I had GAP insurance which could not be refunded before the payment of the loan. Clearly my fault for not reading the fine print. I own that mistake. But when I contacted Christine Kilcrease, Consumer Loan Sales Specialist about it, she was belligerent and argumentative and I eventually just had to hang up on her. After i wrote a review with my frustrations i was contacted by Debra a Branch manager and she turned it all around and fixed my situation within hours! I recently moved to the Austin area and sadly my old credit union does not have branches here, so I decided to open new checking and savings accounts at United Heritage. I filled out an online application over a week ago and received an auto-email reply that stated I would be contacted within 2 business days. NO response. After escalating (i.e., making several phone calls and leaving voice mail messages directly to the branch I wanted) I FINALLY spoke with someone today. Ridiculous. If they don't want my business I'll take it somewhere else. Not acceptable. Would NOT recommend. Paid my car loan, which was paid perfectly, on 3/14/22. The payoff check cleared my bank account on 3/15/22. Still have not received my title! I was lied to and told it was mailed out on 3/28/22. I live in the same city as UHCU, it has been 5 days since it was allegedly mailed and still no title. It is bad customer service to lie to your Members. I am in the car business and know there is no excuse for me not having the Title by now. Not disappointed, but angry for the disrespect and lying. read more

I have been a member for over 10 years. I recently applied for a rate modification in March and never heard anything back from them. I then called back in May and tried again. After not hearing from them for a month, I called and back and was told they weren't able to a rate modification because I had already had one done. This would've been good information to know 7 months ago. It's misleading to have me submit an application, twice, knowing that I have had one done. It's shame that you all would rather lose a loan then let me refinance it for a lower rate. read more

They verify who you are and what car you are driving if you decide that you are more comfortable staying in your car. They even gave us the opportunity to make appointments while other banks were completely closed. I'm just here to warn anyone thinking about their home loans. Do not do it! It's like giving strangers documents and walking blindly. Customer communication is lacking. They aren't honest with their average turn around time. We opened the process with the home loan in August 19th it's Contract was for the 9/30 it's November 1st and we are yet to hear a clear to close phone call or email. If this doesn't happen in the next week we will lose thousands. I'm so disappointed & truly at a loss for words of how much financial damage this has caused our family. I have been with UHCU for about 30 years. They were my go to for my auto and home loan needs. I have excellent credit and make decent money. Always treated with professionalism and part of the family attitude. Lately there has been something going wrong with their loan departments. I really noticed it with my truck loan. What used to be competitive rates, they are now high balling as if they are expecting you not to do your homework and they don't care. They didn't get competitive until I walked away and signed with someone else. Then they pursued me like no tomorrow to transfer over to them. I reluctantly did it. For one, the bank I originally signed with treated me like they wanted my business and didn't play games. Incredibly, that was Bank America and I felt wrong to turn my back on them after they did things right. Maybe they learned from all the screw ups these past two decades. It was a huge hassle to sign back over to UHCU and I won't do it again. Now, along with everyone else I am looking at mortgage rates. I write this knowing they are swamped with calls with the recent down turn in rates and wanted just a quick call with for information. I wanted avoid wasting their time. I reached Joe in real estate loans and not only did he high ball me again, he wanted me to provide him with the going rates in the industry. And he was condescending as hell. Treating me like I don't have a clue. If he didn't want to deal with me, just say so. No need to treat people like they are idiots. And I am not your marketing team. It was so bad I told him I didn't appreciate how the call was going. His response, I'm getting to it. This used to be a CU that helped its members, not a used car sales lot. Now I'm going to get an equity loan to take advantage of these low rates. It will not be with UHCU. And after I sign the paperwork and then UHCU wants to pursue me, my response will be no thank you. Don't call me, I won't call you. I will no longer take my loan business to UHCU and I'm not interested in hearing from them. Hitting me with a lower rate won't work. At these rates, going a basis point or two lower will not be an incentive. Maybe you should have treated people right in the first place. read more

4 years with this credit union since 2007 at the time of signing up I also signed up for a bogus membership $5.00 monthly. I recently canceled this membership and the fee hit my account again. I went into a local branch to get a credit and was informed they needed to get approval to credit this money back... If they need approval for five bucks its time for me to get a new bank. read more

An employee named Jennifer responded and let me know that they don't provide rates to anyone who doesn't give them extended personal details, which are really none of their business until I choose to approach an offer. Great Rate for my refi. Pretty easy as refi's go. In the past took out a home equity loan for remodel, so now everywhere I checked had higher rates for this classification. Not here.
