I highly recommend that if you just need stamps. Mailing a package.... i probably will use UPS or FedEx next time. The staff here are just flat out rude. It's amazing. I've lived in 6 states over the years. This is the worst post office annex I've encountered. The manager should step in but don't hold your breath. I think nationally the PO is doing the best it can overall. However, don't expect a polite clerk who is helpful if you use this location. But they do not care they put it in the box. Not their fault they did not close the door right? They have absolutely no problem delivering to the wrong address. I have the advanced notice as to what mail is coming. There has been several times where I get an email saying something is coming that we do not have a scan for and then the mail arrives and whatever it was is not there. Then in in office. They cannot possible give you a piece of tape. Oh no. I needed two piece of tape but I had to buy a $4 roll of tape. You are telling me people some of these people are making $20 an hour on up and they cannot give away two pieces of tape? $20+/hr is waaaaayyyyyyy overpaid for ringing up a transaction or putting a letter in a PO BOX. Ringing a transaction I admit requires some skill putting the mail in a PO Box requires being able to read. Wow way to put that third grade education to work.

The reason given is due to homeless people sleeping in the lobby and vandalism. I just spoke with Shannon, who is the supervisor, about a missing "delayed" package that was sent to me for Easter. It was shipped out of their location, yet, no scans are officially listed as leaving their facility. She went from saying that the first scan shown, besides when it was accepted on the 12th, was on the 14th "to next facility". Then, when I continued to ask why Wood River was not shown or scanned, backtracked and said that it was scanned and shipped out to St. Louis on the 12th, yet there was no scan in St. Louis. She wouldn't answer my questions, and instead gave me the runaround... unable to answer which facilities the packages were scanned into on the 14th and 15th. The package was not heard of again until the 24th in Memphis. She could not explain anything and just kept saying that there is a whole system and things are all sent out in one big bunch. Cool... but how did my package suddenly go from Wood River to St. Louis with no scans or tracking actually showing? Where is the accountability that the package was wrongfully handled between Wood River and St. Louis? All I could get was that she is "guessing that it was scanned in St. Louis"... WHAT??? Finally, she said that she was leaving a message for the Post Master to call me back. This is not the first time that I have had a problem with their office. I have had mail go missing quite a bit from there. When I asked her to please look into how they operate and handle their mail, she blamed the other locations and the "entire process". She also would not help in refunding my mother's money. If an accident happened, apologize and own it. Work on fixing it. The biggest sign of weak leadership is denying any responsibility and refusing to fix it. Offer solutions, not excuses. Shannon needs to go based on her inability to apologize and problem solve. The rest of the staff needs to be looked into. Seriously... bummer summer. You are an executive branch of the United States Federal Government. Do better.
