Coming here is always the worst experience. Today they only have one person working at the counter the line is out the door and the lady at the counter has no haste about her. Maybe it's because I know so many local folks and I never send packages, but I rarely come to the post office. To keep a reasonable flow of traffic, the parking lot is mostly one-way -- which can be confusing if you're on Hanover Parkway and miss the sign. But otherwise, I appreciate the flow. I think the only times I've been inside are when I've needed stamps, which I get once every few years -- I send a bulk of things for the holidays, and always get more stamps than I need. I needed regular stamps, since it felt odd sending holiday ones in the summer, so there was that. One time I stood in line it was a little long, and the other time it was totally empty. I always drop off my letters at the box outside. I do take jogs, so I've seen when it gets really busy. Avoid coming after work, around lunchtime or on weekend afternoons if you can... you will indeed be dealing with a lot of folks. read more

I'm not supposed to engage in "Biz Shaming", so I will not disparage the organization itself as a whole; however, one of the clerks at the Greenbelt Post Office on Ora Glen has been observed being rather unprofessional to numerous customers (myself included) on more than one occasion - so it's not like I could chalk it up to that clerk having a "bad day". Bob (the guy with the pony tail) is just mean to the people who come up to his counter. Often times, he takes too long chatting it up with one customer at the expense of many other customers, while others behind that person being chatted up at the counter assemble in an ever-growing long line, rather than Bob keeping the line moving. He also barks orders at people in the line. Recently, there was a woman who needed a small piece of tape for a package she wanted to mail, and rather than help her with her package, by providing that small piece of tape, he insisted she buy an entire roll of tape (for sale) rather than just give her a 6-inch strip. Fortunately, another customer in line who was taping a package of her own overheard this and offered the poor woman needing tape some of her own roll. United States Post Office Management would do well to remind Bob that the Post Office is still a service industry and that the customers should always be treated with respect and courtesy. read more

I called due to a package with an incorrect address meaning the apt number was missing now. It could have easily been taking to the rental office or just left at the mailbox in the building. So I called to see if I can come Pick up the package consider the post office is 5 mins away and I can prove it's mine. The lady I spoke with just sounded so unenthusiastic about her job like she answered the phone. I said good morning how are you? She said mhm what can I do for you. So I told her my problem and immediately it has to go back to the sender. I asked was it anything I can do and no needs to go back to sender and they can fix it. Really wish I did not have to come to this post office in Greenbelt There is one worker here which is a white guy is very nasty to customers at this point, I am going to be contacting the corporate office. I asked the question about my mail being on hold because I was moving to a new address and he told me that there was no mail at this location which it should be. I am still getting emails of the mail being delivered to the old address, which is always accurate that's how I know what's coming in the mail I really think he needs to go back into customer service training because his customer skills is very poorly and this is always the case when I come to this location read more

The older pony tailed man was not very helpful this morning. Two stars because the time before his customer service was excellent. However, it seems his level of service fluctuates with his mood that day. Sometimes I don't address my package and they can simply type in the address and affix a label for me. Today the older gentleman had a problem with that. The last time it was not a problem. I left as he insisted I step aside and address the package or purchase one for 99 cents. If you are having issues with this post office concerning intentional mail issues, packages being misplaced and not located, opened mail, mail not being placed in your mailbox, receiving messages that your package has been placed in the parcel when it had not, etc., I strongly encourage you to file a complaint with the Office of Inspector General 703-248-2100 or hotline@uspsoig.gov. Document every incident to build your case. The issue is not the employees, it is the supervisor. If there are enough complaints and enough voices raised, they will eventually do something about the subpar nature in which this post office is run. With each subsequent occurrence, call the Consumer Affairs office 410-347-4330 which will help to build your case with the Office of Inspector General. Maintain all records and pictures including packages that have been opened and ones that you feel have been tampered with. Customers, do not be afraid because you have a post office box at this location and fear that it may make matters worse, by reporting the incidents. If you do not stand up for the next customer, who will? We have to be bold and fearless to help us all. Customers pay for good services and should not feel it is a hassle to receive that services. If any of the reviews are positive, they were likely written by family members. My mailbox was vandalized. I was instructed to fill out a Hold two days ago. When I went to pickup my mail, the clerk yelled at me, while the "Postmaster" was standing there. I was informed that if I did not give them a date, as to when the box was to be fixed, they would not hold the mail for 30 days. She expected to know the date the next time I arrived. I will be reporting them to the Postmaster General. I would advise others to do the same. read more

The people at this post office are reasonably friendly and competent. However, this post office needs some Security or a process for managing its very long lines. Today, the line was long and the guy in front of me was watching a soccer game on his cell phone and barely paying attention to the movement of the line. When he got to the front of the line, someone else skipped the entire line so I asked him whether he isn't the next person in line? The man who skipped the line became in enraged, shouting that it was none of my business and that if I said another word he would beat my face in. All of this was fairly loud and everyone in line and the cashiers heard this, but no one said a word to him so I dropped the matter. Shortly later, another man also skip the line and again, the man in front of me either did not notice or decided not to confront. This time I decided to say nothing To avoid a repeat of the previous experience. The lady behind me rolled her eyes at the craziness of the situation and lack of line management. I have to assume that the cashiers simply view the line as not their problem nor part of their responsibility, or perhaps they don't wish to be physically assaulted either. My impression is that the man who threatened me was himself frustrated after having previously stood in the line and then having to leave and get additional documentation. While I normally do not consider Greenbelt to be a dangerous community, unless there is a little bit more crowd management I think one should consider this post office to be a hazardous place. At least if you are the type of person who speaks up when someone else cheats on a line. read more

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I wish that I could change my post office. I'm considering a move simply to relocate to a new post office area. (Only half way joking, seriously). They have lost my package multiple times and not delivered mail I should have received. When I call to get help, if they can actually be reached (which is not often) they aren't the least bit helpful. The guy on the phone tells me that the delivery man must have incorrectly entered information into the system and that's why my package is nowhere to be found, then the next minute he denies that the post office is responsible for any mistake. He tells me he'll ask the delivery guy if he remembers what he did with the package that was supposed to be delivered - over a month ago! Says he'll call back, I'm still waiting for that call over a week later. I called back and he kept me on hold for 15 minutes while the office closed and then never pick the phone back up. It's incredibly frustrating to be so powerless over your mail, packages, and belongings,... and then to have this office brush you off and deny responsibility for lost and misplaced packages. Be warned, if you need to go there or call them, prepare for bad service and bad attitudes. 2 minutes on the phone with them might just be long enough for their horrible attitudes to run off and put you in a bad mood for the next few hours. read more

Similar to other reviews, this post office constantly holds our mail and delivers MONTHS later. We have called on several occasions because a package was shown as delivered (via tracking info), but the post office lady for my neighborhood would just hold on to it instead of delivering it. The lines here are very long and service can be slow. I live next to this post office and my wife sells books on Amazon so we're here all the time. Basically, I put aside a half hour for any trip I make here. This location is newish, as it used to be located in Old Greenbelt underneath the Co-Op, but the staff are the same. The self-serve postage machine is broken 3 out of every 4 trips, which makes going there when they are closed a total crap shoot. read more

I lived in my old apartment for 12 years, and got mail for the previous resident for most of that time. I informed the PO repeatedly that he didn't live there anymore & I didn't know him. The only response I ever got was when a clerk literally yelled at me for writing on someone else's mail. My neighbors & I routinely received each other's mail. Once the new tags for my car arrived the day before the old ones expired, with "not this address" in god-knew-who's handwriting. Another time I found a replacement tax document (first one never arrived) pinned to our building's bulletin board. I received someone else's credit card statement. Mind you, these are just the highlights. The real fun came when I moved away. It was rather hectic & I forgot to put in a change of address before I left. That of course was my fault, but their handling of the situation was awful. I was told twice that the carrier would bring back anything that had been delivered since the end of my last month there. This never happened, and even the postmaster had no clue what was going on. I kept hearing what the carrier would have done, should have done, might have done, etc, but no one had made a note of anything what had actually happened. Neither did anyone seem to care or feel accountable - including the postmaster. I miss a lot of things in Greenbelt, but not their terrible service. read more

I went to this post office to ship because it's close to my job, but even the mail delivery is awful. I went in and got the worst service. I was next in line and the young lady at the counter just stood there. I had to ask her if her line was open, and she was like. ' I guess', shrugging her shoulders. Well, she obviously wasn't excited to be there, and didn't great me or even look at me when I asked questions. I asked for the tracking #, and she snatched the ticket out of my hand, circled the number and laid it on the counter. I looked at her sidewayz, but just need to get out of there cause I felt my blood beginning to boil. I will never go there again. The only reason this post office received 2 stars is because of their self service kiosk. With the kiosk, I can get in & out in NO time. The lines are usually long & the customer service...depends on the day & the person. I went to mail off a package but the envelopes I needed were not out in the lobby so I rang the service bell to see if someone could come outside to hand me some (it was 8:30am. They open at 9). No one opened the door but I could hear people in the back talking. After ringing it 3 times, I called the post office & someone answered. Told me they won't bring any out to me because they open at 9am. I could literally hear her speaking through the door but she still refused to give me any. I wouldn't have had to bother her if they kept this location stocked properly. I now do all my transactions online & drop offs anywhere but here read more

I come to this location a lot since it's by my job. It's an extremely busy post office, especially during lunch or at 4:30 pm. They have P.O. boxes to rent and a passport office. Everyone who works there seems nice and helpful. I've never had a bad experience. read more

Customer service is poor. The employees don't look happy to be there, and they just don't care. I called them to ask if they can retrieve a tracking number, and all the woman said was "no" and hung up. How RUDE. The lines are always long, and there's always two employees working at a time. If there are 4 computers, why can't there be more employees....I live very close to this post office, but after that phone experience, never again. I was just at this post office to mail 2 packages overseas. I arrived 5 minutes before closing and there was a long line, but the line moved quickly. When I got to the desk, I learned that I needed customs forms to mail my packages. The clerk gave me the forms and had me fill them out on a side table. She also gave me a pen when she noticed me wandering around looking for one. One of the other clerks helped me when I needed assistance with the forms. The original clerk then helped me take care of mailing my packages - by this time it was already 20 minutes past closing, but she was still very friendly. I was the last person in the office, and the whole staff was taking care of closing procedures. They were smiling and joking with me, and I was thankful to have such a pleasant experience after being stressed about getting packages mailed for the holidays.
