It's across from the Alamo Plaza. The post office and court house is combined here, so you have to go through security to get to the post office. Watches and removal of all items out of your pocket. The staff at the post office all go to lunch at 2:30pm for an hour, so we had to come back an hour later. The post office is in hallway with the windows along the walls. There are two windows open, but one person working and it's super slow. $0.90 for a wooden postcard from the Alamo. The post office staff said he would have to manually feed into the machine or it will crack the wooden postcard, thus why the postcard costs $0.90 to send it. read more

The Central Post Office. Once the lynchpin of that system seems to have a reduced roll these days. All the major cities in Texas have interesting and or beautiful inner city Post Office Buildings from another era. San Antonio has a good one. Thank goodness because I needed to mail some correspondence before leaving town. Thankfully,I looked up and there it was across the street. I go here occasionally and have had an issue with a female clerk in the past when returning something from Ebay, but she may be gone now. The male employees are alright, even the security guards. I have had to leave a pair of scissors outside to retrieve later, because I forgot they were in my backpack. Please remember to remove watches, cellphones and metal jewelry. It is somewhat of a pain in the foot, but I understand the need. I do not know anything about the courthouse portion of the building or even if it is in use! read more

I went to renew my passport there on 6/1/2023. It was perfect and there were no other people there.

If I could do 0 I would. Front desk agent said I was late for appointment (showed up at 913 for 915 appointment.) Front desk agent was already helping other customers then told me I was late for my 915 appointment when I was standing in line at 915 while he was helping others. Then, informed me he couldn't do the appointment due to the fact my application wasnt fully filled out. When previously I was able to write a new application due to an error on the page. Front desk agent was very short with responses and seemed to not be willing to help despite him taking other people before a 915 appointment. Hopefully this front desk agent finds whatever happiness he's looking for ‍ read more

I normally go to the post office on Pierce but there is an employee there who is really past his prime and needs to retire. I walked to the downtown post office and was really really shocked at the difference in customer service. The guards that have to search you are a little grumpy as I interrupted the man gossip session, but the postal clerk was very nice and friendly. I had the exact same packages I have been sending through the Pierce location for the past two months. Exact same size, weight, everything. But to my surprise, the $3.43 I have been charged at Pierce was only $3.03 at the Downtown location. I am going there more often. for me the two mile walk is a short walk, the service is far better, and I get to see the Alamo as well as treat myself to a Starbucks. I like the fact they also have a bike rack, but some jerk was hogging it that day. read more

I have no idea why this post office doesn't show up in any search engines or even on the USPS website. You really have to try to find this. Okay, so it is hard to find, but it is right across the street from the Alamo on Houston Street. It is inside of a larger building. The strangest thing- they are closed on Saturday and they don't have a drop box! So, essentially, you have to drop off your stuff Monday-Friday, 9-2:30 or 3:30-5pm. Some of the hotels in the are charge $10 just to mail something, so this is your best bet. I was able to ship my salsas home, avoid having to check in my luggage, and only pay $11 for the flat rate priority mail. read more

On January 30th, my wife and I went to this post office location to ship out 4 packaged books at media rate. As we are being serviced by the gentleman at the front desk, his supervisor, Mr. Morris, opens one of our packages, pulls out the sales receipt we included in the package, and begins to berate my wife and I on how we "can't mail out correspondence with media mail!" We told him that they were sales receipts for the purchased books. "Didn't matter", he said and Mr. Morris continued to rant about how the correspondence served as an advertisement for the company (Amazon). IT WAS A SALES RECEIPT! The sales receipts are basic; listing the purchase, cost, addresses, etc. No logo was present on the sales receipt. Mr. Morris had our media mail boosted to Priority Mail which in turn raised the total cost of shipping. By this time, my wife and I were furious at how we were treated by Mr. Morris and felt that this policy was absolutely ridiculous. Something was evidently wrong. But being that they were books needing to be shipped at a timely manner, we shipped them Priority. Later that day, still upset over the transaction and treatment, I called the USPS via their 1-800 number. I was met with a very friendly agent by the name of Ellen who went on to tell me that there is no such policy stating that we can't include sales receipts in outgoing media mail. Mr. Morris was wrong in boosting our medial mail to Priority. The agent went on to submit our complaint. The very next day, I received a phone call from a local supervisor at another location verifying my complaint and stating that "sales receipts may be included in medial mail" and advised that I go back to receive my refund and to make sure I had my receipts. The next day, I went back to the Post Office to claim my refund. I was met by the gentlemen at the front desk in a very cordial and friendly manner and I promptly received my refund. The employees were very helpful, the supervisor was not. Be mindful of what the policies truly are and do not be afraid to ask questions. read more

beautiful building. I needed to ship my niece's birthday gift and figured it would be nice to walk there during my lunch break and explore a little. I followed the directions via yelp and got to the federal building. I was a little confused since there wasn't a specific sign that said post office. I walked inside and asked the security guard if I was in the right place. there's metal detectors so you can't bring any "weapons" into the building. I walked around the corner to find supplies for the post office and a window. no waiting! the very friendly staff member helped me. will be back. read more

Convient if you're on foot and in the area. Don't bother coming here and looking for a quick place to park and hop in. The PO is in a federal court building, so you have to go through the building's scanners to get in. Be prepared to wait in line for the scanner, then to have you, your bags, and all your packages scanned by X-ray and metal detector. Have a nail file, multi tool, or "potentially sharp object" in anything and you'll be turned away. If you can put up with all this and actually get into the PO, then the rest is a breeze. The PO is fast and efficient. Now there's a phase I never thought I'd use to describe a post office. read more
