It's USPS, okay, so there is a general level of suck that can be experienced at any government or quasi-governmental agency office (dreary environs, draconian & nonsensical policies, an assault of directive signage, inflexible staff who do not exceed the parameters of their Standard Operating Procedures, etc.). With that very low expectation set, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the level of smart efficiency I experienced at 10 minutes before closing at this Metric & Braker Lane location on a Saturday afternoon. If you have used this location before, you may know that the window for picking up packages is a closed door placed outside of the "main" customer service counter / store part of the place. A common mistake folks make all the time is coming in to pick up a package, waiting in the long line at the main counter, and only once reaching the front, learning that they were supposed to go stand at that closed door and wait for someone to appear out of nowhere to acknowledge them. Been there, done that myself. On this day, I showed up to retrieve my "requires signature" item and found a line of about 15 customers ahead of me with just a few minutes until closing. I had my doubts about how this situation would end, but the postal worker handled it with professionalism and efficiency, calling us up to give our addresses & show ID, taking down our info, and then going away with a complete list to get all of the packages in bulk. This calmed everyone and assured us that we'd be able to get our stuff before the place closed for the day. One by one, each name was called, even those who had arrived after me, and soon only one person was left without a package - me. Turns out, my mail carrier had picked up my item and had it out with her for another delivery attempt, even though the order was specifically set to be held at the post office. Argh! This post office is awesome. They provide easy access to ALL of the available stamp designs, organized in a binder you can flip through. I haven't experienced this at any other post office before! All employees that have helped me were kind and didn't rush me at all. Overall pleasant experience, definitely returning even though I don't live near. read more

Dear Jeff Bezos and Amazon Prime: It's my understanding that Amazon and USPS are in negotiations for contract renewal midyear 2026. As an Amazon Prime customer, I advocate loudly for Amazon to NOT renew with USPS and completely remove the 7.5% (~$6 billion) annual revenue that Amazon provides for USPS. Divert this investment to something that actually supports Amazon as well as the businesses and customers who use Amazon. USPS is willfully failing to update their infrastructure and instead implement employee policies and services that actually reduce delivery services and ignore customer satisfaction. Once again USPS failed to deliver my Amazon package to my door. In fact, the USPS delivery person left a note in my postal box telling me that I had to rent a locker for my package or collect it from the post office. The postal worker went on to tell me that even though I pay for delivery and specify door delivery that there is "no such thing as paying for door delivery with USPS....everyone is treated equal and no privilege for door delivery." Let me get this straight, USPS and their employees actually believe that customers should pay for delivery services that USPS does not provide. That actually receiving delivery in exchange for payment is an unreasonable "privilege" or expectation of the paying customer. That's insane. On top of that, USPS has decided that the only way a customer can qualify for full service door delivery is to require Americans to complete and submit a Medical Hardship form. That's right folks. The federal USPS requires individuals to share and release personal medical information for an undisclosed USPS personnel panel to review and determine at their discretion if you qualify for door delivery. And this medical information has to be updated by your doctor and resubmitted to USPS for review every 6 months. That's obscene and immensely offensive. Can you imagine? Elderly parents and grandparents, whose health and physical abilities are diminishing, are being told by USPS they have to get their own packages or relinquish their medical privacy. Disabled individuals have to go through the same level of humiliation and private scrutiny by a delivery service just to get a service they pay for. Any private or federal delivery service (or any business) should be ruined for requiring that level of access to personal medical information in exchange for a paid for service. Obviously USPS would rather infringe upon our individual privacy than actually become a reliable delivery service. Drop them Amazon and Bezos. USPS wants to take our money, but they won't deliver. read more

Saw all the bad reviews - wanted to chime in. Only my 2nd time here. But I had a very easy and kind experience with Scott.

This post office seems to have some pluses and minuses. This is not my neighborhood location. The service window is very slow. Some people waiting for it when I left had been waiting when I walked in. They looked very annoyed. As for the service line, it started getting long so a new employee came out to assist. He served me and was very friendly. My package was going to a rural address the Post Office system always has trouble recognizing.  So, of course, it happened with him. We had a great conversation about rural life as he got my package processed. It was a very pleasant experience. The post office is clean and there is a lot of parking. read more

When you walk in make sure you know where to go. There were long lines for package pick-up which is right by the entrance door. For postal service, continue to the left and the line should start there. (The station on the left is passport service only, with their own opening hours M-F 9:00 am.-5:00 pm.) The postal service was fast and knowledgeable. Their payment system was recently updated and have Apple Pay tap the screen option too. I was in and out in a flash during my break and that helped a lot! read more

This post office is terrible!!!... i lost the key to my mail box and needed to get them replaced. So, I called before I went to get a key made to see what I needed, They told me to bring a ID with the correct address. After getting there and waiting in that long line, they told me that I needed a utilities bill showing my name on it. I do not keep them after paying so the most recent is of course likely in my mailbox. Found an old one and took it but they told me it was too old. I just got a change of address form and will likely get a PO Box somewhere else. I would never go there if I didn't have to! read more

Because of its proximity to my work, I started using this post office location a lot and have to say they do a great job. The staff are polite, professional and provide small town post office charm to the clientele. As with any government entity there a limitations and of course lines; but time and time again this post office blows it out of the water with their customer service and just being nice. read more

Nobody answers the phone there, spent over an hour trying to get a rep, it rings, then hangs up. My package tracking says "delivered to parcel locker" but now key in my box. Impossible to get hold of ANYONE that will help. The package was a replacement passport and will now have to go through the entire procedure of reporting this one lost, making an appointment, and spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket due to their incredible incompetence. Bluebonnet Station is the worst. At the very minimum get an answering machine so you can at least call people back. Why the US Govt would use these idiots to send passports is beyond me. I will say, I never thought I'd need to leave a review for USPS. Watching how one female worker was treating the customer because English was their second language... it was horrifying to witness. I tried to help the customer, she could communicate what she wanted and was trying to be patient and kind, but the lady behind the counter was condescending and volatile. Someone in line stood up to her and asked her not to treat others that way and she yelled at them and became especially unpleasant. I couldn't stand to watch and left without mailing my package. I come here often because it's the closest location to my job and I typically go right after work. I typically just go to drop off packages or buy stamps. Never any problem really with that... The reason I gave it one star is because the staff is unBELIEVEABLY rude. Like.... is one of the job requirments to work at a post office to hate your life and make everyone around you miserable? Because that's seriously the vibe the staff here gives off. One of the ladies, she looks to be the biggest and oldest of them all, is the worst one. She doesn't ever smile, she scowls at you, she has a serious attitude problem, and she's just plain awful. I tried to get some xmas stamps and i thought i could pick the amount I wanted. When she replied she basically spat in my face and said "they only come in packs of 20." Listen guys I know reading that doesn't sound like she was mean but trust me, the tone of her voice and the scowl on her face made it so. THEN as I was leaving (it was closing time) -- and let it be know there were still a TON of people in there, she began pulling down the metal cage from the ceiling... I'm try to leave and she's pulling it down. It's literally the ONLY way out of the building. So i stand there in front of it until she gets the hint that I want to get the heck out, and she raises it juuuuuuust high enough for me to get out BUT low enough that I still have to duck to avoid hitting my head on it... Like, okay honey. Who crapped in your cornflakes this morning? The staff needs a ton of customer service training.... That, or fire the old lady. read more

I watched the main desk staff be short and surly with multiple people in line ahead of me, and experienced the same myself. Worst post office in Austin they sent back one of my packages (has yet to get back to sender it's been two weeks btw). They also never brought my other package I was supposed to sign for and it says it was out for delivery 3 days ago and when I went in today to ask where it was all they said they couldn't find it all of this has happened in a month I hate this place they don't take their jobs seriously definitely recommend getting your mail sent to another post office these packages I never received total to over $2,000 dollars and I have lost money and opportunities not yet receiving these packages. Scheduled an appointment for a passport (which took two months to get) and I arrived 10 min early (as the confirmation email says to). The lady criticized me for being "too early" and to stand in line until my appointment. I did so and they finally called my name to go to the counter 5-8 minutes after my appointment time. The lady processing my D-11 passport form was very rude and rushing me through the process. Luckily I had all of my documents ready but as a first time applicant it was very overwhelming and not at all what I expected. It was not confidential AT ALL and all of my documents were strewn all over the counter. I was nervous and fumbling with my documents and people were staring at me and being rude. I've been having difficulty getting a hold of anyone at this location over the phone. I called about 5 times in one day over a two day period and no one answered or the phone was disconnected. It's frustrating especially since I was out of town and needed my package to be intercepted since I wrote down the wrong address. The management at this location is trying to make the experience as pleasant and efficient as possible, but they seem unable to address the issues with the counter service. When I came in on New Year's Eve to drop off a Priority Mail package, both managers on duty were reminding people in line of other options besides the counter for picking up mail or packages. After a few minutes of dealing with the counter staff, I saw why. Namely, the clerk at the counter seemed confused by my simple Priority Mail transaction in a USPS Priority Mail package. First she started measuring the package, then needed help to complete the transaction. In other words, she was legitimately confused by the simplest transaction of all - how to sell a set amount of postage. The management is trying, but it's clearly not enough. read more
