They stole my package. Straight up handed me a tampered Amazon box with the cheap tape the post office uses to seal things. The lady and guy were acting suspicious throughout the entire interaction. They didn't let me take a look at the package until I signed off, and, when I opened it, they put on a "show" and said things like "someone must've stolen it" and "huh that's weird". Needless to say, don't order expensive things to the Post Office. If you need to, OPEN THE PACKAGE inside and check that it is all there. read more

First, I stand by my 2021 review. I would like to add that I now have Informed Delivery thru USPS. For this, I know when I am supposed to have that mail in my past office box. I'm happy to report that the mail is always there. This branch has never let me down. I still believe this location, being the main hub for Austin, is doing a solid job. read more

RUDE ASF!!!! i just came in there to return a dresser, it wouldn't fit inside the original box. the little girl tells me tells me i can buy another box and tape it closed because i can't buy another label. im looking at 9 rolls of tape where she is but she tells me i have to purchase some, im like whatever. however a man purchased tape for me and then another customer had to help me with my box, while the employees watched. my issue is with the little girl because she seemed to have a problem with me from the start and repeatedly rolled her eyes. i've never been so ready to leave an establishment in my life, FIX YOUR ATTITUDES. read more

The manager was defensively hostile, failed (or refused) to follow what I was saying and to read my intention, and put words in my mouth, when I went there to discuss a package that had been stolen, possibly by an employee at this facility. The post office in Manor, TX is pretty poor when it comes to customer service, so I was delighted to find out that there is a customer counter located within the main processing center for Austin. Just 10 minutes from my house, this location has extended hours and the staff always gets me through the line quickly. Recommended. read more

This is where packages go to disappear! I love how stuff goes quickly until Dallas, then they move stuff from Dallas, pst Ft Hood to Austin and then packages just disappear for days and days with no Movement missing guaranteed delivery dates. An ongoing issue with this place. read more

Online tracking indicted that the mail I sent arrived at this office days earlier but hasn't been delivered. Concerned, I called this office and was told unapologetically that if the tracking shows that it arrived in this office it means that they have delivered. They just haven't scanned it. She sounded very annoyed even though it's her office that has done a sloppy job. So why are they charging for tracking? read more

Staff is reliable but a bit slow, definitely no rush around here. Issue is most people are in a rush. I've never had a bad experience here. Some of the staff is welcoming, others just get the job done. I don't really care which I get. Customer service part of this facility is pretty big. I find the best time to go is very early morning or mid afternoon. There is a separate entrance that has two or three big blue boxes for metered mail out front. read more

Don't bother calling! Don't bother even going in if your mail is missing! They won't do anything to help. They Won't look for your mail they won't search for your mail they will tell you that it all arrive and if it doesn't that you just need to file a dispute it is absolutely useless to try to go up there in search for answers because they do not know it is always busy I waited so long in line just to find out that no one was going to be able to help me in the end it was very very annoying I wanted to just call to try to find out a answer to a very simple question but yet nobody answers the phone at post office I don't even know why they have phone numbers listed when they don't even answer the phone at another post office I even called while I was there and heard nothing no type of rings or anything so it's pretty ridiculous I would really suggest you wait to just receive your mail or maybe actually just go personally to your friend or family's house and pick it up read more

This is the central post office for Austin. Unless you live or work in northeast Austin, it's pretty inconvenient to use. However, I came here around noon today to drop off a letter for Express Mail. There were plentiful mailing supplies. When I stood in line, it began to get deep. Amazingly, the two clerks at the window were soon joined by a third, who ended up helping me. Relatively speedy service and plentiful mailing supplies go a long way. read more

I work by this location and wish that I could swap the one by my house for this location. I don't go there a whole lot, but when I do, the lines are usually short and I am in and out. The employees are so very nice and friendly! I've never had a bad experience at this post office (unlike the one by my house). This location is the worst so lazy and unorganized. For starters they open so late at 8:30 am for a postal service is sad, I have two packages 5mins away from my house with them being delivered together but they're up in limbo all over the place. When I was trying to decide whether to get a P.O. Box from the post office or UPS, I went with the post office because their monthly rates were much cheaper than UPS. BIG MISTAKE! I have had no issue receiving letters at my P.O. Box, but it's been a nightmare receiving packages from third-party carriers (e.g. UPS etc.). Amazon Prime, for example, will not ship to a P.O. Box address, but they will ship packages via UPS to the actual physical post office address as long as you include your P.O. Box number. Back in the day it used just to be the UPS Store that gave customers a physical address, but USPS started offering that service a few years back so their customers could get their packages delivered there by third-party carriers. This was precisely why I decided to get my mailbox from UPS instead of The UPS Store. I didn't want to pay more for what I thought would be the same service. The problem is that this service does not seem to work. First of all, third-party carriers like UPS get confused when you put the physical address of a post office as your delivery address. Most of my Amazon Prime deliveries have been delayed for days while UPS works out where to deliver the package. Then, when they finally do deliver it, the packages seem to disappear for ages in the depths of the post office before an employee finally gets around to putting it in my P.O. Box. There is absolutely no point in paying around $100 for an Amazon Prime membership every year if my stuff doesn't get delivered within two days. It takes at least around five days for items with "two-day shipping" to arrive. Also, UPS tracking says that a package was delivered at the Cross Park post office last Thursday (five days ago now), and the package has completely disappeared. I don't know if UPS delivered it to the wrong address, or if it's floating about somewhere in the Cross Park post office - but either way getting stuff delivered by third-party carriers to your USPS P.O. Box's physical street address just does not work! In a nutshell: If you'll just be using your P.O. Box to receive letters, a post office P.O. Box is just fine. BUT if you will be receiving packages sent by third-party carriers, do yourself a favor and get a mailbox from the UPS Store. You will save yourself a lot of hassle. read more

I have a package bound for my home address in Blanco, TX that has been sitting in this post office for 8 days and STILL hasn't moved. Last time I checked, it takes only no more than 2 days for a package to move from Austin, TX to Blanco, TX. Furthermore, this is a package I paid $84.41 for. read more

I haven't used the counter service at this PO. It is the place where mail is delivered first from outside the area for distribution to local addresses. Things surely get stuck there for days on end. If you watch your tracking numbers, you find quite efficient service in getting packages from far away to this office - maybe 2-3 days - but once there, it can be stuck for another 2-5 days. 2 days or so just to get to your local PO if you have a PO Box and up to 5 for home delivery. read more

I've been here twice, during the holiday season no less, and had absolutely zero issues. The first time I came was to ship a package and buy a stamp. I was helped immediately and the whole process took less than five minutes. Shipping was a little more expensive than I remember in past years for the same weight class, but that's okay. The package I shipped was given a tracking number, even for just regular shipping. I didn't know USPS does that now and I think that's pretty cool! It arrived quickly and was not damaged, which is really all I can ask for when it comes to shipping. The two Christmas cards I mailed also arrived to their destinations quickly. I finally tried one of those machines you can buy stamps from, instead of waiting in line - super easy and took less than two minutes to get in, buy the stamps, apply stamps to said Christmas cards, put them in the mailbox, and head out. Nothing was lost, damaged, or broken, I received friendly service, and it wasn't crazy busy. When it comes to visiting the post office during the busiest time of year, what more could you want? read more

I have a strong fear of walking into post offices and sitting in line for an hour then having to be talked to like I am waiting there time. The Cross Park Post Office is open later than your average Austin post office. Its daily collection times are 2:30, 6:00, and 8:00 (pm). It's big and has lots of post office boxes for rent. It has a convenient location near 183 and 290 on Cross Park Dr just off 290 a block west of the 290 @ Tuscany intersection. I took off a star because the automated "Postal Service Center" that dispenses stamps was out of order when I came. If you ever miss the last collection time of the other post offices (usually around 5 or 5:30 pm it seems), drop off your mail here. The indoor service office is open until 6 pm on weekdays so people can just come by after work instead of skipping lunch or taking off early. read more

If I need a package delivered quickly I bring it to this location. They consistently get my packages to their destination a day earlier than when I mail them from a drop box nearer to my house. They work well for my Netflix movies as well. I've had a couple of instances of the Netflix movies either not being received back by Netflix or them being delayed, but that hasn't happened at this location. I've never had to wait to use the drive through mail drops, so it's an easy and fast in and out. When I've gone inside to buy stamps from the machine, I noticed that the lines at the counter are not very long. If I needed to handle some counter business I would come to this post office. I appreciate the ability to get in and out of here quickly and without stress. read more

This is indeed the main post office for the Austin area, as well as most of Central Texas. I've had a P.O. Box here since February, and I get all my mail, as well as Amazon orders delivered here. Lately they have become really lagged, just from sheer volume, I guess. The Post Office is no place to be if one is impatient. When it comes to post offices around Austin, I've tried many, and this one is my favorite. First off, it's the general mail facility. All the mail that comes in or goes out of Austin? it goes through this one. So if you have Netflix or a within-city letter to mail, you'll shave a day off your sending time if you go here. So I always drop off my Netflix movies if I have to go anyway (also because my postal pickup person seems to take a few days getting my movies from my house to the office- maybe s/he has the same taste in movies as me?). Most importantly, the people that work here aren't jerks that sit around and watch you while you wait. They try to help get through the line as quickly as possible. Honest! I've never waited here longer than 10 minutes, and the employees I've encountered even have a little personality. If you're cute, they might tell you to have a nice day. So that next time you have to send your mom a present or mail off your GRE scores, check out the GMF. read more

This is the fourth post office I've visited since my move and felt motivated to review. I recommend avoiding this location as much as possible. First, the lay out of shipping material thru me off - the priority is separated by the rest with this big awkward open space. So walked right past what I needed, before thankfully one very helpful employee saw my confusion and led me back to non-priority options (even showing me a more economical way to send these forwards). Then of course I forgot a pen this time bc I didn't want to carry my purse and the fragile OfferUp item box that was such an awkward size. Get past those, get my second package addressed and packed. Get in line, and watch what seems to be a supervisor harass his employees, making them feel defensive and they were doing their job just fine - why are you authoritatively speaking to your employees at all, let alone in front of paying customers? So these employees are all anxious and I'm being called ma'am by every member on the team, totally confusing and anxiety provoking - and I just came to mail a package and forward my Uncle's mail! Yikes! So surprisingly the helpful employee I met was ordered to start helping line customers. I hadn't noticed so this is like the sixth ma'am and I'm finally ready to get postage paid for and drop my box. So I thought this was bad, right? It took them TWO days to scan the OfferUp box. And if I hear that my perfectly packed Car Model was in any way opened or mishandled, thus interfering with my sale - I'm going to be even more uncomfortable with this experience than I already am. Avoid this location, horrible management, poor mistreated employees and one box isn't scanned for TWO days! That's absurd. And an awful experience all around! The one down the street from me, scan has happened within 30 minutes four times; I'll deal with the potential of a long line any day over this. read more

According to USPS tracking a records - my package never left this facility. I'm on video dropping it off and I didn't get a scan receipt. Monday 12/4/2017 between 9 and 10 am. Even if the line is long, wait and get it scanned in or get scammed or ripped off! They gave me two numbers to call were just people at a desk that said people should give out my number - directed me to the web to submit a claim. 512.343.1236 512.342.1540 I'm on video dropping this off. I work here. The pay though not bad, but the schedule you're given means nothing. NOT a secure place to work. You can be let go for any reason and have no benefits for 2 years, you have to join the union to have any protection, but Union membership doesn't kick in till 90 days after employment. The postal service has 30, 60, 90, and 360 day evaluations. You're not even guaranteed a permanent day to day job for 2 years. If you can find work elsewhere I urge you to do so. I know this is not necessarily true of all US Postal Service locations across this Nation. However, I sent a Certified Return Receipt requested to my Brother in Austin on June 30th 2018. Tracking information showed it arrived in Austin on July 2 2018 and bounced around for three more days before hitting a wall where information stopped. Since there was a check in the envelope, I stopped payment and wire transferred the funds to my Brother. Ok...it gets worse. I wrote a letter to the Austin Post Master (by priority mail) requesting he investigate where the certified letter went on July 10 2018 and as of today, it still has not been delivered. As a test, I sent the same letter by plain old 50 cent mail. So, I'll wait and see if I get any response on where the heck my registered letter went? read more
