This is one of the better post offices around, which says a lot because I generally hate going to the post office. This location has plenty of parking and is not busy during off-peak hours, which makes a big difference. The staff has been efficient when I have come in, and I have noticed faster mail delivery compared to other nearby locations. Two times they have doubted whether or not my package is in their office after they supposedly left a slip saying I wasn't home for signature. Earlier today I went to our neighborhood Post Office to apply for my Passport book... You first have to use the kiosk in the lobby to make your appointment... The process to do that was SO EASY... After making your appointment,,, you then bring all of your documents to your 15 min appointment... Well let me tell you that I was so stressed out having to do all of this that when I went to the window I was greeted by Kris,,, ( spelling might be wrong ) however upon being greeted so friendly like,,, by the end of my appointment I actually didn't want it to be over... She was an absolute doll and answered all of my questions and I even found out that we think alike on many topics... Kris deserves to be noticed... Worst!! Came for a 11:45 passport appt and was told the person who processes it just left for her lunch break. Waited 30 mins and had to leave so my daughter doesn't miss her next class. Employees take joy in our suffering. First I call because I know this is USPS. I don't have a printer and want to know if I can print my shipping label there. Well, I get caught in a robot loop I decide to try my luck and just go in. I walk in with a package to return and a man behind the counter waves me up. Me: "Can I print my shipping label here?" Man: "Yeah. You need to tape that?" He salivates as he points to my untaped package. Me: "Oh, yes I do." No hesitation, he rings me up $3.99 for a roll of packaging tape. Now he starts to drool. Man: "Can I scan your shipping label?" I pull it up on my phone. He scans, then starts to sweat with excitement, his pores gushing out a mixture of government agency-induced sadism and a pent-up power trip that's been dying to escape since his last 15-minute break. Man: "You're going to need to print this. You have to go to a FedEx or a Kinko's if you don't have a printer at home." Me: "Really? There's nothing I can do here?" With one final orgasmic blow, a pool of saliva spews from his mouth and taunts me from the glass protector that separates us. Man: "No." Then I leave. TLDR 1: tape your stuff before you go (maybe this is common sense to you but I don't ship/return things very often). My father lost his PO BOX because he hadn't been in there in months and in return failed to pay for another year. I went in today and Nathan went above and beyond to help me. Nathan offers great service and is an excellent multitasker, they should hire more staff like him. My father has had the same PO BOX for 40 years and Nathan was able to get me the same one after another employee complained about us wanting the same box and refused to help me. I'd also like to note, Horacio is extremely rude and condescending. Apparently they have him there because he's bilingual, yet he treats Spanish only speaking customers horribly. A lady who was waiting to be attended by him due to the language barrier was complaining to me about him, yet he's the only one there who can help her so she has to put up with his rotten attitude. I came into my appointment prepared having read through everything and brought all my documents. Right away she refused to collect my paperwork and said I didn't have what I needed to proceed. I can't stand this post office. They have the most unhelpful and rude man named Tan he's the small Asian man. I have dealt with him too many times. He should not be working with anyone. He yelled at this little 88year old lady and myself as we were explaining that we needed help and that we used the machine to make an appointment. Even showed my screenshot to him. He then yelled and said what do you want me to do about it kicked the machine and said WHAT THE HELL how dear you! Looks back and us and said there I did something you happy. Home to the MEANEST postal worker. Each time I come here and he happens to be the person to "help" me he makes assumptions as to what info I need to provide. Today I went to pick up mail that was on hold so I tell him that, take out my ID and tell him I have a confirmation #. He says I need to give him the address so I go to hand my ID. And he says no you need to say it. So, I do in the same tone he was giving me. Fast forward he says I need to go to the post office on Adams. So I do and I get there and do the same process except this time I begin to state my address and no joke this postal worker tells me , no just hand me your ID. Don't assume I know how to do your job. I'm surprised I am even saying that because I'm sure it's super annoying when people claim to know how to do your job. Go to the post office on Adams. Really it's only a block away. It didn't ruin my day but it sure made the time very frustrating. The first time he made it difficult for me to send something to my husband who is deployed in the army. I just got back in line and a very friendly female postal worker was patient enough to help me. Not everyone is mean but he's always there. This mean postal worker should go work at the DMV. This post office is making it easier and easier to hate it. I don't mean the staff - which can be a hit or miss depending on who is working the counter that day (some of them act and look like they are counting the days until retirement, while others courteously treat their customers and are helpful) - but the biggest pet peeve is how they keep changing the lobby hours. This used to be a 24/7 lobby - meaning PO Box customers can access their box even when the counter wasn't closed. This also meant that if you needed to ship a package, you can use the automated machine to do so if you go after-hours. Then, over the past year, they reduced the 24 hour availability to having the lobby open only from 7am to 7pm. Okay, sucks for those of us that work night shifts, but still manageable somewhat. Sometime over the past two months, they further reduced the lobby hours to being just when the counter is staffed, half day on Saturday, and completely closed on Sunday. I'm not sure if this was a decision from the head office, but if this was something done at the management level local to this office, I think those individuals need to be replaced. Sunday used to be my post office day where I can ship out my packages using the self-service machine, but I can't even access the lobby anymore since it's not open at all on Sunday. They should just shut this location down and expand the bigger USPS over off of Adams Avenue/Harbor. read more

They constantly misdeliver mail that contains sensitive information. When you initiate an investigation with the Costa Mesa post office, they say that there's no way of finding out what happened to your mail without a tracking number. I SO want another way to receive mail as I feel this government agency misdelivers mail to encourage paying a certified mail charge for important documents containing sensitive information when they should DO THEIR JOB without that extra fee! We went to go got one of our passports renewed and we were missing some forms. She then proceeded to be very rude to my mother and berate her for not having the right forms. Authentically this is the worst post office I have ever been to. Not only are the lines exceptionally long but the people that work there including management are complete jerks. The personnel here needs to be retrained from a director's standpoint because their customer service is nonexistent and fully dismissed. I walked in on a man dismissing a woman and two young children and her husband because they were within five minutes after one of their appointments. The Latino manager was chuckling about the situation. I personally had another man that was standing in the back of the post office not spend more than two seconds I'm trying to help me find a package in the back. I have had 3 pieces of mail stolen on 3 different occasions by a mailman that delivers on my regular mailman's day off. I have informed delivery where the post office takes a picture of mail that is addressed to me. 2 of the times there were 2 pieces of mail but I only received one of the 2. And the pieces that were stolen were ones that had monetary value. This last time was a birthday card that was sent to me from Newport Coast and I am in costa mesa. I have called the Adams office only to be laughed at, hung up on and told they would call me back after they investigated. It has been over a month since I called and no call back. I called the 800 number and all they gave were excuses and told that you never get it the same day. YES I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN MY INFORMED DELIVERY MAIL THE SAME DAY!!! Alright, I am giving it a 2 star. Because of the convenient location next to my house. But after the next time I'm here, I'll have to revisit the review. I dunno, I have had so many better experiences at other post offices, yet still continue to come here. Mainly because of my laziness. It is right on the way home or to the office.
