My passport renewal went well! It was fast and expedited very quickly. I was in and out as soon as they got my paperwork!

Well, for one thing, it's 1 PM in the afternoon, and the mailbox is completely full of letters! It was supposed to have been emptied at 12 o'clock (the letterbox) - the one at the drive-through. There used to be two mailboxes! I had to mail an IRS payment today, so I wasn't happy being here to begin with, now I'm wondering whether or not I should have just walked into the post office and delivered it, but because of the apartment housing across the street sometimes the post office parking lot is full. This location used to be called the El Toro post office, but it is the city of Lake Forest now, name changed in I believe the 1980s? So now it's called the US post office only? Unfortunately, the next time that they'll be taking the mail out of the drive through mailbox will be at 5 PM. Hopefully the IRS will receive my letter and payment ! read more

Went to mail a return had my prepaid label in hand because I needed to buy a shipping envelope. Guy said he could not give me tape to fix the label to the envelope. A PIECE OF TAPE?! And stated we can't offer tape for this service I could buy tape... Literally walked to a business next to it and asked for tape. A little ridiculous considering I've been to many others that had no issue taping a label to the package for me. read more

I had a very frustrating experience at the USPS location on El Toro Rd in Lake Forest on Monday, December 21st. I came in with an extremely important letter that needed to be mailed to a PO Box, and I clearly told the clerk that I needed it to arrive as quickly as possible. The employee assisting me--a man with large ear plugs--told me that USPS was not doing 1-3 day shipping and that the earliest delivery would be Friday. I specifically asked if he was sure, given that it was a PO Box address, and he insisted that my best option would be to go to UPS or FedEx for faster delivery. Because of this advice, I spent extra time and gas driving to UPS--only to be told that the information I was given was completely incorrect. UPS informed me that all PO Box mail is ultimately handled by USPS, and that sending it through UPS would actually be more expensive, since USPS would still be the one delivering it. In other words, I was given flat-out misinformation that directly cost me time, money, and unnecessary stress, especially given how important this mailing was. I expect postal employees to understand basic USPS policies, particularly something as fundamental as PO Box delivery. This experience was disappointing and avoidable, and it reflects poorly on the level of training or care at this location. I hope management addresses this, because customers should be able to trust the information they're given--especially when it comes to time-sensitive mail. read more

On Usps website it states the self service kiosk is open 24 seven including Sundays and it showed it was open on the USPS website. I drove all the way here. The doors are locked. There's no self service kiosk outside anywhere either the first doors to enter. The building should be unlocked for PO boxes and self service kiosk and the second set of door should be locked to access the post office but both doors are locked even though on the website it says a self service kiosk is open. I drove all the way here and wasted gas and drove 10 miles for nothing. I work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6 PM so by the time I'm leaving the house or getting post office is always closed read more

Over the 4th of July weekend they lost an important package that had my Rx in it. They claimed the label was incomplete but somehow the package made from CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy in San Antonio to Lake Forest, CA with an incomplete label??? How is that possible? read more

We went to the RSM post office to renew my kids' passports and it was a horrific experience. The lady named Bobby was extremely rude, combative and not helpful at all. We made an appointment at this location and it was so much more pleasant. The man who helped us, Ramo, was kind and explained the process more clearly and offered solutions instead of being dismissive. Avoid the RSM location and come here instead. read more

The service here is fast for me. I have always appreciated there services and often depend on this post office to help me get my shipments sent with good timing. In drive up lane to drop letter in box I'm in front of an elderly woman and a postal worker was emptying out the box while we were waiting. The lady was asking the worker something and he was shining her on so she just drove off pissed. My turn and since he had the basket of letters he just removed from box I asked if I can hand him the letter no reply I asked again he grabs the letter fast hard and rudely from my hand no eye contact no words nothing. Maybe he hated his job he looked like a sloppy Hispanic with tattoos all over his hands and weighed around 400 pounds breathing heavy just to walk from parking lot to office. I scheduled a passport appointment for my baby under 2 at the El Toro USPS, expecting the photo to be taken there, as indicated online. When I arrived, a sign said they do not take photos for children under 2, which was never mentioned when booking. The staff were extremely unhelpful and dismissive, basically saying it wasn't their problem. I asked if I could take the photo elsewhere and return, but they said no because they close at 4 PM, even though I later found out online that they actually close at 5 PM. The online information is misleading, the staff provided no assistance, and I ended up wasting my time and effort. USPS should clearly state policies online and train staff to properly assist customers, especially for minors. This experience was unnecessarily frustrating and avoidable. read more

If you're looking to apply for a passport for minor children, do yourself a favor and don't go to the Lake Forest post office. It's pretty clear by the 20 signs and closed sign on their office door for passports that they have no interest in processing any applications for a passport for a 16 and 17 year old. I showed up with all the online documentation,an appointment and my children for this and the gentleman that "helped" me went out of his way to make sure that I couldn't take care of the business I was there for that day. I'm pretty certain they just don't know how to do it. He said multiple times that my daughter who is weeks away from 18 that she should just wait 15 days and it would be easier. Needless to say I left with nothing being done as he claimed I needed more documents. Btw I already had passports for them that they got 5 years ago that were expiring soon. read more

On March 14, 2026 in the morning, I mailed in the drop box an envelope to DMV with a renewal payment for a vehicle. That night someone fished out of the box, my payment. The check for $153 was "washed" and cashed on Monday the 16th at BOA for $653.00. We will never use their drop box again at that location. I have spent 4 days trying to fix what this person, Nadia, messed up for me. Please upgrade your Mail Drop so others do not have to experience this. I am still not done fixing and changing things to avoid this person accessing further info. I will not deal with this location again. They need to upgrade their drop boxes. read more

The El Toro Post Office has always being my post office since it was the primary post office for 92630, the greater Lake Forest area, since 1982, even though my mails are handled by the 92610 RSM these days. This PO is always busy. Today is no exception. On the other hand, they have all 3 stations open and the line moves quickly. Even the lady manning the passport affairs pitched in to handle the crowd. We were done in less than 10 minutes. We also brought ourselves a couple of books of forever stamps since the price is going up in June. You may want to get yours now that you know. read more

Talk about an absolutely "unpleasant" experience, going to the post office at 24552 Raymond Way, Lake Forest, CA takes the GOLD. And I do not mean that in a complimentary way whatsoever. I'm new to the community, as first impressions set the tone, for future reference. This was NOT a good first impression. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews posted by others before I scheduled my appointment. I won't make that mistake again. I understand people need jobs, but the customer service I received was so poor, I couldn't resist posting my experience for others to be forewarned. While I asked questions, Tony focused on explaining how he had been "trained" to complete the documents required for obtaining a passport. I didn't mind following the procedures; my concern was his tone. Clearly, he hadn't received any further training in customer service, as evidenced by his attitude and lack of professionalism. 1.5 hours later, I was leaving. I thanked the former clerk for her willingness to assist me, then left. An organization is only as good as the employees who represent that organization. If I could give the service I received a 1/2 star, I would. The only thing I can do now is avoid coming back here. I hope someone higher up in the organization reads this and makes some positive changes. read more

This morning about 10:30 AM I came to this post office office to send a letter. While I was online and it was my turn to be next. The clerk looked past me and started talking to a man who was waiting on a separate line assigned to process Passports. He walked away from his work station and went to look for the passport clerk, but just as he was walking away, the passport clerk informed him that the customer had an appointment at 10:45. He went ahead and called him next to the window. I said to him "what am I, Chopped liver"? He didn't explain his reasons for skipping me, He didn't care and continued to helped the passport customer. He obviously did not wanted to help me. This clerk was a Middle Eastern man approximately 50 years old and it was clear that he did not wanted to help me. I 'm a little woman, older, and don't dress fancy. I have become invisible. He bluntly show disrespect to another human being just because this person is a female. The Postal Service must have occasional training to employees who work in the retail office and have contact with the Public. Specially men from other countries who are used to disrespecting women. I will not go this office again to avoid this type of situation again, if you're an older woman, stay away from here, or dress fancy before you go. read more

This branch seems to be much more helpful and understanding than most. The line moves fast and there are 3 different self serve machines where you can do your labels on your own if you want to. Parking lot has plenty of spaces. read more

I arrived at 8:30a and the was only 1 postal worker servicing customers and thus was the main Tustin post office. There was a long line of customer during the busy Christmas rush. I've shipped with usps for well over 20 years. This is the only post office that won't let drop off a package I have from a different area code. I just happen to be in the area and wanted to drop off my personal package that is address from a different city other than Lake Forest. read more

We have used this location several times and have never had an issue. They typically have fast and efficient service. Staff has always clearly communicated and been kind during then interactions as well. There is a large parking lot, and we have never had an issue finding parking. I love snail mail! And I love our neighborhood postman, because he's like a postman in an American movie. He's always smiling and saying hello. I regularly drop off mail and buy stamps at the post office and everyone I've encountered there knows what they're doing. They're efficient, knowledgeable, and helpful. Even though the lines sometimes look too long, it moves pretty quickly even during busy hours. I also had my passport application and photo done here, which took maybe ten minutes. I just wish the drive by drop off thingy for the mail was emptied more frequently, because it seems to be overflowing at times. Especially during Christmas season, when it's absolutely popping all of the time. Still, not a complaint. Everything I mailed was received and everything that I expected to be delivered to me got to me. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! I am escalating this issue for sure. The staff including the manager are some of the rudest people I have encountered, period. Very disrespectful mostly one lady named Veronica or something! Scheduled an appointment "WITH PICTURE" for my son to get his passport. I get everything ready, even the checks because arranging for an appointment for two working parents is very hard! We get there and this lady says per protocol we can't take a picture of kids under 2! Now mind you, we took my daughter to the same location last October when she was 1.5 years old and they took a picture! This "protocol" was not noted anywhere on their website when I made the appointment. With the horrible attitude she had she pointed to the door and said it's on the door! So, you are telling me I come here with everything ready and need to get this done and head to work and you tell me the note is on the door and now I have to go to some other place to take a picture and come back? We were still nice and told her you have to follow protocol, we understand, can we talk to your supervisor? With her fabulous attitude she said "I'm not gonna lose my job over this!" Lady, we are saying we understand YOU JUST WORK THERE so why are you being so rude?!!!!! The supervisor was as disrespectful as the lady. We ask to see the protocol and the guy says I don't have it. So this is not a protocol. You guys just decided "not" to do that and failed, miserably, to communicate it with the costumers and to make it even worse, treat the costumer like that. This is unacceptable. Very poor service. Get it together, update the website, have a note on the appointment page saying you can't make an appointment with picture if your kid is under 2, attach the new "rule" at the end of it. The employees working at this location (manager too) know very little about processing passports. What I encountered was straight up DISCRIMINATION against women. They refused to process the passport for my child even though I had all the required documents. My child and I have the same last name, but because his birth certificate had my maiden name listed (which is the case for ALL birth certificates!) they refused to take it, which means any married woman who took their husband's last name cannot file for a passport for their child! Every birth certificate has the mother's maiden name, and they should know this! My child's father wasn't there, but we filled out the appropriate form for that, got it notarized, and provided a copy of his ID which is the requirement. Even with that legitimate paperwork, the employee told me multiple times "his dad needs to be the one to do this." Well, his dad cannot be here, and that is exactly why the government has this form to begin with! Even if his dad was there, that doesn't change my last name or his birth certificate. What if the father was overseas in the military serving the country?!?! What if the father passed away? Are women not allowed to get passports for their children?!?! Only the fathers can? I had to make my case over & over and give them MY birth certificate (which is NOT a required document) until they finally processed it!! It was like they were TRYING to find reasons why they didn't have to process it. This is absolutely discriminatory and goes against passport requirements. I'd say they need better training, but this all seemed very intentional. read more
