We were having issues with our AC unit. We sent an inquiry through yelp pretty late at night after business hours and Shay responded within an hour. We texted him the next day and he was able to come to our house within 45 minutes. Shay was incredibly kind and professional and spent quite a bit of time with us to thoroughly diagnose the issue. He was very communicative and honest with us about the issues he found. Not once did he try to upsell us but instead did his best to present us with the most cost effective solutions he could think of. Ultimately our system couldn't be repaired and needed to be replaced. He took pictures to show us and explained in detail why a replacement was necessary. Our backyard tends to flood during heavy rains, and the water flows down onto the patio, where it threatens to flood over the threshold of our patio doors. After getting two quotes from contractors who proposed collecting the water in the backyard and routing it around the house to drain in the street, I wanted a fresh viewpoint. I asked asked Shay to come up with a way to mitigate this problem. He came to my house the next day (a Friday). After surveying the backyard, he told me that the the previous proposals would not work, because there is not enough elevation drop from the back yard to the street to allow the water to drain by gravity; a pump would be needed. He said he had another idea. On the spot, he designed a French drain system consisting of a trench drain collecting the water before it reaches the patio and routing it to a network of four 4'x4'x4' French drains, which would be lined with alternating layers of pebbles and sand to act as reservoirs for flood overflow. I was impressed: both the idea and his estimate were reasonable, so I hired him then and there for the job. Shay and his team arrived on the following Monday morning at 7:30 AM to start work. The team completed the epic engineering feat in four consecutive days of hard work, arriving promptly at 7:30 AM each morning and leaving at 3:30 PM in the afternoon each day. I observed the team at work daily, since I was at home. I was quite impressed with their work ethic: the holes and trenches, piping conduits and concrete trench lining were done properly and according to Shay's original plan. They did not cut corners. After finishing the job, they cleaned up the back yard and left it just as they had found it. Shay said that if we ever had a problem with his system, we could call him and he would come by and fix it. He even offered to take the last installment of the contract *after* the rainstorm we are going to have this weekend! It was a pleasure doing business with Shay, and now we feel confident that our home is safe from flooding because Shay's system will absorb all the water from the fiercest rainstorms Southern California can throw at us!
