This company recently fixed an AC problem I had. The person who came to help me is Mike. And I want to go out of my way to write this review of him to show what kind of character he has. He and his company installed the entire AC system of the building I lease. And after a neighbor had some problems with it before, Mike went out of his way to come to me and made sure everything was being maintained correctly on my end. Then, when after a few years go by my AC started to have problems, Mike was able to come back and fix the issue at a very reasonable cost. He came to our appointments on time and was able to fix everything within a few days. Just from the fact that Mike would go out of his way to help me a few years ago, I could tell he sincerely has a heart for his customers. He had no need to warn me of what I needed to do back then as that responsibility laid with my building manager. But he came to make sure everything looked good (for free) so that I could avoid unnecessary future problems and repair bills. Perhaps if the building manager clearly explained to me about my responsibility to maintain the AC unit, Mike wouldn't have needed to come to me at all, or at the very least, come at a later time. But the important fact is Mike is a very professional and reliable man. So five years later, and I have to amend my original review. The guys came and did the work on time, during COVID, on budget, that was the good part. They did an all new HVAC, heating and cooling, and re-ducted. It was definitely better than what we had, but unfortunately still not good. Two of the rooms do not get cool. We had them come back out once and they took a temp at the vent and said cold air was blowing and I couldn't argue with the temp gauge but ultimately the rooms themselves don't get cold. They didn't do anything and left. I called again and they didn't return my call. The two rooms are my kids rooms and we ended up just buying them fans but I think I just have to bite the bullet and hire a new company to fix it. What's even worse though is that they didn't explain to me how the new heater worked. The previous was forced air which was great. This new one is apparently stronger and more efficient but it's electric. It used to be that my summer electric bills were high but now my winter ones are through the roof. This was never explained and it is such a disaster honestly. read more

Couple weeks ago, my HVAC decided not to work, only blowed cool air. It was cold in the house. CD HVAC was the one available/on call/emergency. Steven quickly sent his team out to check. It was my control board that didn't work. The team had to search, locate the part which was not available at many stores due to the way the house was built. CD HVAC was quick to scheduled for their next available opening to install once they got the board. After installed and the tech left, the metal closing panel was loosed, I tried to fix myself but couldn't. Called, and Steven quickly sent one of the brother come to check/fix. Less than one hour on site, but charged for 2. $100 "company overhead" $208 additional "company profit" Extremely overpriced. My fault for not getting this detail in advance. Their fault for ripping us off. We'll absolutely never use them again and we're extremely happy we chose to NOT replace our system, depriving them of a chance to rip us off more. We have been using this company for a few years and have been very happy with their twice yearly visits for maintenance and troubleshooting. When our 21 year old central AC/Heating system stopped working, we decided to it was time to replace it, and to also update our 3 unit mini-split system which was 10 years old, the date at which they usually begin to cause trouble, with one already needing repair. They came to give us an estimate - Michael and Kevin were very prompt and able to answer all the questions we had. And to educate us as to how the updated system would be a great improvement of performance and reliability. They took their time and made it a point to make sure we understood all the moving parts of the project. The crew arrived exactly on time to start the all day job. The foreman, Sebastian, and his workers were incredible. Fast, friendly, respectful of our property and privacy. By the end of a very long day, there was one small thing left to do. I suggested they come back tomorrow, but Sebastian insisted he would stay late to finish it. He was aware I have asthma and can't breathe without adequate air conditioning. That is why we have the backup mini-split system. So he stayed an additional hour until the work was done and I had my air back, better than ever. The three new multi splits are working perfectly and it feels like we have a whole new quality of air in our house. We also love the new Nest thermostat that is actually easy to use. These guys are who you want. The three brothers who own it are always available and never too busy for any questions or help. We could not recommend them any higher. read more

We moved into our condo that had no AC with the intention to add AC immediately especially since we are working from home during the pandemic. Because of our condos location and city/HOA rules as to where the condenser could go, we were told by several companies it wouldn't be possible to install central AC or wall units. I kept trying different companies and had multiple people come out and give me the same news or it seemed they didn't want to take a difficult job. But we finally found Construction District and they were so responsive and helpful. Mike approached everything with optimism and creativity, assuring us that it would be possible. It was a difficult job because of our unit location but Mike helped us deal with everything that came up and they installed central AC that works perfectly. We were told people that lived here before us had tried to install AC and never could figure it out. We are so grateful to Mike, Kevin, Armand and the rest of the team for their hard work in making sure we got AC! They also always walked us through everything and were so knowledgeable. Unfortunately this company is no longer affordable. All their pricing is almost double of any other company in the area. $165/hr for labor is astronomical. Their service call fee is $175 and is not applied towards the repair. Having an issue with a 4 year old unit they installed so I wouldn't recommend getting a new unit from them either. There are many other companies who are affordable in the area! * In response to Steven's comment, all you have to do is request multiple quotes here on Yelp to validate what I am saying. You will see the drastic difference in price as I've stated above is accurate and my negative review is warranted after experiencing issues with a new unit this company installed and the outrageous prices for their services after. You're better using the service providers directly provided by the brand of unit you have or buying a home warranty. I highly advise you not give business to a company out to gauge its customers and leave them in a tough spot. I have found many companies here on Yelp more than willing to do free estimates or service calls under $100 that is applied to the repair. The real Kicker is that I had even gone so far as to recommend other people to this company who all reported back that their prices were too high. I got several quotes to replace my almost 30 yr. old Rheem condenser. I went with CD HVAC because I felt like I could trust them to be honest and reliable after reading all the positive reviews here on Yelp. Mike came by and he was very thorough in assessing my needs. He gave me some options and explained each one to me. He spent a good amount of time in addressing my situation but was not pushy at all which I appreciated. Despite of Mike's youth he seemed very knowledgeable about process of replacing my old unit. I just had a good feeling about the way he conducted the visit and felt like I could trust his word. I received the estimate and it was very competitive and reasonable. It wasn't the lowest but definitely very competitive pricing. Because I felt good about Mike and his company, I actually asked if they can match another quote and they were very responsive to my request. In the end, I decided to use CD HVAC. There was also good communication and follow-up in between. Leading up to the day of installation, I received good communication via text, email, and phone calls. It's great to have a company looking out for your best interest. The crew (3 technicians) that did the installation was punctual as promised. They were friendly and worked well together. They seemed experienced. They cleaned up well afterwards. I was told it would take about 6 hours but they finished in 5. The two brothers who own the company (3 brothers own this company) came by and checked on the progress of the install and made sure the crew had everything they needed. It's totally awesome to see that the owners care about the customer as well as their own crew! They tested the unit after install to make sure everything is working properly. So far the unit performs well with no issues but only time will tell as this will be the key metric. But so far so good and overall I'm very satisfied with their service. My parents who are in their 90s still live in their home. Their air-conditioner conked out in the middle of this heat wave. The company that they have been dealing with over the years told them they didn't have the staff to help and to, "go get a hotel room." I checked the yelp reviews and decided to call CD HVAC. I explained to the very nice woman who answered the phone that my parents were elderly and at risk, and she told me Kevin would be coming to their house soon. Not only was Kevin quick to come up with a very, very reasonably priced new system, he went out to Costco to get my parents an air conditioner in the meantime to keep them cool! Kevin also called my brother and I and informed us what he was going to do to help my parents. Kevin and others spent all day yesterday installing the air conditioner. My mom wasn't able to see the small print on the thermostat, and Kevin came over today to bring her another one that she would be able to read.
