Welcome to my review. Parking is good with spaces, not for event or venue, but since it's downtown Lawrenceville there is easy access of parking. The sitting is good. Looks like a old garage and not restaurant, which give a vibe. The place was slightly busy so our service was slow. The food was okay. I thought it was very average and bland. I got the southwest quesadilla and buffalo quesadilla, both were okay not really worth to try at all. The names sound amazing but the taste does not. I also got a burger, I don't remember which one but it was okay also. Nothing special here. No special sauces or anything. The tater tots look good, but those are average also. I feel like they could do more. I don't know if I will come back, but hopefully they have other things better than this. Thank you for reading my review. read more

After wasting 30 minutes waiting to even be acknowledged at McCray's, my family and I headed to UJ. So glad we did. The hostess was super friendly and our server was super attentive. I've been here a couple times and all of those times weren't that great. We have to sit ourselves (which is cool) but I feel as though they do not notice the people sitting down at a section. I see people getting their orders taken before us and they actually brought us the wrong food before they even knew we didn't have our drinks ordered. Every experience here I've had has been a shit show. Just as I'm typing this they cleaned a table for a couple and sat them down and took their order immediately. Walked in to no service Whats so ever. The girl working looked back at me and then went back to talking to her friends. Another person walked in and straight to the back, still no acknowledgement, until a drunk guy from the bar scream to me that they will be right with me. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! After our food was brought out we had to get our own silverware, & flag a server to stop after a long wait for refills. !We had 3 servers go to the 2 tables near us at least 7 times never asking if we needed anything. Food was dry & just ok tasting. read more

Visiting for a nearby open air concert, we went for supper. Friday night 45 min wait is expectable, totally endurable with good bar staff and ample outside waiting area. Took my bride there for a GREAT evening out. Hummus exceeds any I've had, even in Israel. Salads offer a variety of meats and grilled tuna; solid offerings. Service is on point. read more

This is probably the best restaurant on the square. There is nothing on the menu that isn't less than delicious. Very accommodating for families. The edamame and pimento cheese appetizers are superb. The house cucumber salad has just the right amount of vinegar for that tasty tang crunch. Full bar, amazing food, and even better staff. The manager has always checked on us every time. Wait can be a little long on weekend afternoons, but every minute is worth the wait. Favorite place for a meal and a drink. And all prices are reasonable for the amount of food given. Will come here again and again and I know we will always be taken care of, especially when I always come with my 10 month old. Juice boxes are aplenty. read more

Been here multiple times but this time was severely disappointing. We got there around 6:30 which is their busy hours but it does not excuse them from no service. We sat down and waited 20 minutes. No waiter/waitress arrived to our table to greet us. Just sitting there looking at the menu for 20 minutes. I understand they were busy but we weren't even given any water. Our party of 6 got up and walked out the door. We walked down the street to McCrays Tavern down the street and sat down immediately with water. Great service and great food there. Do not go to Universal Joint. I mean c'mon, not even greeted or water for 20 min is ridiculous. I recommend McCrays Tavern over Universal Joint for now. read more

i decided to bring my girlfriends mom and brother out to eat for my girlfriends mothers birthday. We arrived at Universal Joint and instantly knew we were in for a good time. Honestly, the hosts Mohawk is bad ass. He also is insanely friendly and helpful. He was more patient than we deserved and we really appreciate that. Julie was our server. She had every answer we needed and showed us drinks we didn't even know we wanted - which were all absolutely delicious, so thank you to the bartenders. Julie was there every time we needed anything, which was a lot (we're needy). She was so damn friendly and professional!!! SO HYPED YALL HAD SOUR MONKEY!!!!!!! This was a horrible experience. Reading through the reviews, it seems they have totally slipped. Waited 20 minutes and never even got greeted or menus, however the server went to the table beside us 3 times within that time. Finally decided the food here isn't worth taking this kind of treatment. Decided to leave. Another table noticed we were leaving and told us it took 30 minutes to get their drinks. Went basically next door to the Local Republic. More expensive, but worth it. Actually got good service and good food. Reviewing the other reviews, this isn't a one off. read more

This place was great. We came a random Monday night about 845 pm. We sat ourselves outside because it was so nice. I had an apple cider which was good and 5.75. Wasn't too bad. I ordered a burger with mushrooms and it was well done and very good. The fries had a nice taste to them. Not sure what they added. My son had a kids meal. They were out of the corn dogs so he had to get mini burgers. Which he only ate one. But over all the service was fast and nice and the food didn't take long. I'd recommend to try it out. Excellent set-up to maintain social distancing! I appreciate the fact that everyone orders outside, but we can still sit inside in the cool air conditioning. As usual, the food was delicious. I tried to make reservations for a group of 10. Voicemail was full so I called several more times to be polite and knowing it was a big group. I even sent an email on their website hoping to get a response. We ended up showing up and when I explained that I had attempted to let them know a day before the waitresses were still snooty, I get it we were a big group but we attempted to give a heads up. In addition they will not split tabs for large groups (not uncommon and I understand that and was okay with that). We ended up leaving to go to McCray's who happily seated us and told us they'd be able to split tabs. As we were leaving the waitress were running their mouths about how we didn't want to have one person pay the tab and everyone else venmo, cash app, etc... service wasn't worth it anyways as tables took forever to be cleaned - not the first time I've noticed this. Ate there with a buddy of mine, who recommended it. The burger I had (don't remember the name, but it had bacon, pimento cheese and jalapenos) was really good, and the fries I had with it were very tasty and perfectly seasoned. I got the edamame for an appetizer and was pleasantly surprised at the amount for the money, and it was very good as well. Have come here several times over the last few years. While they aren't in the greatest location, we've typically enjoyed the food. My wife and I have grown very fond of the Southwest Chicken Quesadilla, but they also have some of the best burgers around (and were our favorite in last year's Gwinnett Burgers & Brews week). I previously reviewed UJ at 5 stars primarily due to their early efforts at practicing good sanitation efforts in the pandemic. Unfortunately I have to drop this now since the employees no longer wear masks (inside or outside). Also a negative is that I recently ordered for pickup, and when I got there the price was more than 25% higher than their online menu! I was told that they just hadn't updated their website. I'm sorry, but that's just not acceptable. I've given them 2 weeks since then to see if they would fix it, but they still haven't. Keeping your website up to date is a critical part of running your business. It looks to me like they've raised prices at least twice without taking the time to update the website in that time period. read more

I don't usually bother to leave bad reviews, but I'm still aggravated hours after leaving Universal Joint. The food was fine. The service was abysmal. I was sent to a table smack in the middle of the place, then it took ten minutes for someone to take my drink order. After that, I couldn't even tell who was supposed to be working my table. After my food was dropped off, no one came back to my table. There weren't that many other customers and the 6 or 7 staff members had to skirt around my table to get to them. They didn't seem to notice that I was there. The person I thought was my waiter sat down at a nearby table to spend twenty minutes tallying her order book. At one point, five of them stood around having a chat and I couldn't get any of their attention. I was finally able to flag someone down to ask for the check. The I spent another ten minutes trying to flag someone else down for a properly working pen. This place is listed as one of the best in Lawrenceville, but I can't see why. read more

Went to the Joint for a birthday lunch. Was extremely disappointed. It felt like they were extremely understaffed (understandable since everyone is), but the food quality was really unforgivable. I would avoid the shrimp tacos (probably all tacos). It was some tasteless chopped up pieces of shrimp in a cold corn tortilla with some sort of sauce and a bunch of cabbage. It was truly awful. The burger was okay, but the blue cheese was mostly mold and tasted very bitter. Fries were okay. The only good part was the server who kindly took the meatball sandwich off the bill when we complained. It was 4 small meatballs on what seemed to be a microwaved hot dog bun. I ate here for the first time with a friend and maybe it was what I ordered but I wasn't impressed. One of the reasons that I chose this place is because they advertised that they serve dessert from The blue rooster bake shop. Well the waitress had no idea what I was asking about and it's totally false as to what they advertised. Our server Julie was great. The execution was trash. Our "fresh" avocado came out with the stickers still on it. So you can tell how well they clean the food. The manager was dismissive when we brought it to her attention and rolled her eyes at us. Then told us that they were out of their impossible burgers but go try Burger King.
