It's difficult to understand the negative reviews. I've been going here for more than 2 decades and never found the experience inadequate -- except for the occasional front desk admitting staff that sometimes forgets about notifying you about a hard copy CD -- after 20-30 mins. I waited for an anointment for a couple of months. They sent email to me a couple of days before the appointment that said I was required to pay them at the time of the appointment, before they even process the claim with my insurance. I called to explain that I almost met my deductible and there are claims being processed, and if I pay now there is a big chance they would have to refund me and I really have no time to deal with it. There wasn't even an attempt to resolve this situation, so I had to cancel. Disappointed! Be aware of possible scamming with their billing. Went to Barnabas emergency room back in October 2025, received a hospital bill that got completely paid off with my insurance. Then today March 2026 I'm notified that THIS company has sent me to collections for a $415 bill that appeared out of nowhere. There's no charge or trace of this bill on my actual hospital bill/receipt. In the months that have passed they have never contacted me or made it known in anyway that I had a bill with them despite having access to all of my contact information, address included. It's as if the bill appeared out of thin air. I called customer service hoping for access to more information on this charge and (as is my right) the option to pay with my insurance, I was denied both immediately. I was told there was no way for me to access the bill or ANY information with University Radiology despite them being responsible for the charge, I was denied the option to pay with my insurance and was told I had no choice but to pay the $415 to the debt collectors ( Remex inc) who also provided no information on this sudden charge and is leaving no option but to pay off the bill TODAY . As someone who now has to cough up almost $500 for a mystery charge or suffer bad credit I seriously recommend avoiding any hospitals working with them you can check who they work with on their website at the bottom of the page. read more

I've been here for a few different things through the years. I've never had a problem with scheduling, staff or examination. In fact the times that I have come here, the area is always clean, the staff has been quite pleasant and for the most part, the wait time wasn't that bad. read more

Often a very long wait time in a crowded waiting room (Metuchen, N.J.). After the first time waiting almost an hour, I left. I made two other appointments at different locations (Warren and Scotch Plains, N.J.) with better experiences and was brought in much more quickly. My doctor needed to be contacted as she was not ordering the right tests for me, and University was very delayed in responding to her and not telling me soon enough that I needed a prescription from her for further tests. Ultimately, the delays went on for almost two months, and some of this was the fault of my doctor as well. When you're dealing with the possibility of breast cancer, for which University wanted me to have further testing, I think they need to be a lot more aware of not delaying information or being impatient with the customer/patient, which they were, "they" referring to any staff that we had to deal with by phone. The back area staff that do the examinations are really nice and efficient. Front desk and support need to be better trained and have better people skills. read more

Came to this location because it was the earliest appointment for the procedure I needed done. My appt was at 7:45 and I wasn't called in until a little after 8. I checked in through a text, which was fine. The receptionist was ok. Didn't really have much interaction with her. The technician was great. She was very professional, caring, and friendly. She also explained to me another issue I had mentioned and she eased my mind a little. I would probably go back to this location if I needed to get any additional tests. read more

I went in for a CT scan. It was my first time so of course I was a little nervous. She started the scan and then came out and said very gruffly that my heart rate was too high so she couldn't do it. She asked if I was nervous, I said I was a little but since I saw what was entailed in the test, I felt ok. She tries again, yells behind the glass, it's still too high. So I lay there just trying to breathe, keep in mind, I was calm at that point but her attitude surely wasn't helping me. She tried again and it worked. She comes out and takes the leads off and says you can take off the rest yourself . She had such an attitude about her, she made it a horrible experience for me. I will never, ever go back there and I strongly do not recommend this office. I wish I remembered her name! read more

You need to go on the website and make an appointment, and you'll be in and out fast! So don't wait the last minute, cause sometimes there's a week or two wait! But I scheduled three days ahead and was in and out. Just remember the earlier you go the better! read more

They want their copay.but cant make change so cash is frowned upon. The front desk person was unapologetic and could care less.

They have horrible practices. They don't schedule you for the correct appointment on the correct day and then refuse to see you when you get there. They have shady billing and patient relations/communications. Person came out and butchered my name so badly I thought John Travolta was giving me an award. No attempt to sound out any of the American letters in my name. Then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted her to write down what I needed. I said No and walked out. Dad going in for Brain MRI. Wait time was little. My dad gets cold easily so I asked for a blanket which they got him for the waiting room. very nice staff! Loved my dads technician and overhearing the other the way they treat the patients with such care. This location has an open mri if you need that. read more

I scheduled my annual mammogram appointment following my annual physical. My doctor gave me the script for it, woke up early to drive there. When I arrived, they refused to do the mammogram at the scheduled time, despite my doctor's script. They wanted to see my prior mammogram (which were done out of state, so not an easy task). It seems that the receptionist here believes she should be a medical care provider. I will not be using this group for any future needs for me or my family... What a nightmare. From the time I walked in the door at 9:45am for a 10:00am appt - I never knew to budget 3+ hours for a simple mammogram. The experience I had here was the worst! The woman processing my paperwork was incompetent and she took about 20 minutes to process items I had already completed online prior (by weeks) to my appointment. !! Very frustrating. Since the only have individual offices and not the company as a whole, I'm going to copy and paste this in several places... Watch the billing of this place...very shady. My wife went here (Metuchen location) for a simple X-Ray. This facility billed as a specialist and not as a radiology center (which is what they are). Office visit=copay, radiology center=no copay. This is the only radiology center that I know of that does this. I called and spoke with several people. No one cared, basically said they can do whatever they want. Our copay is minimal, but it's more of the principal. Beware, especially if you have limited or high-deductible insurance. You'll get socked. read more

My wife had received a message that she would have to pay for a follow up mammogram. I called our insurance about it, amd was told that our insurance covers all mammograms. We did a conference call with University Radiology to confirm with them they the procedure is covered, and the conversation (which was recorded) she had with Gloria (front desk) wasn't pleasant. Unprofessional intake staff. No understanding of HIPPA. Loudly asking questions about my medical history, wanted me to just openly say in a big open room what my medical history is, what my date of birth is, why my Dr, sent me. Loudly announced my insurance notice as she read it in the computer. She became quite visibly irritated when I asked a question about why I was being asked to pay for the X-ray when it should be covered by my insurance. She was curt and short in her response. With that being said the X-ray tech had a wonderful bedside manner as well as the person scanning temperatures. Unfortunately it didn't make up for the poor display of the intake person. read more

This comes as an honest opinion. I've worked in radiology for 20 years now. The office is well run, the staff is friendly. And the CAT scan technician, Sue, was a breath of fresh air in modern medicine. It was a pleasure. I've done more than my fair share of MRIs, CAT scans and x-rays. This was by far the easiest and most efficient office I've been in in many years. Friendliness and cleanliness go hand-in-hand in radiology. And university radiology has succeeded in that. read more

Very bad experience with billing "director" of patient services. I unfortunately had a terrible experience with dealing with Carol who is patient director of the group. When I called to get my billing issue resolved, never have a been spoken to like I didn't matter and unprofessional demeanor. Very bad business practice when they demand payment in full to be paid same day or I would have to pay Full billing price without any insurance discounts for self pay patients. I did not choose this practice, I was not even seen by the dr, it was ER dr from Saint Peters hospital. I know I'm not expecting FREE service but there is no compassion at all. When I asked if I can speak with the department's manager, Carol refused to give me any information like she is the president and CEO of the company. read more

Wait times are usually short. I have been using this location exclusively for 22 years and never had any problem. Very surprised to see negative reviews. Must be just a sign of the times. For this company alone there should be MINUS STARS. Each and every process that customers of Theirs go thru, is abusive and time consuming. Apparently there is No one at this company that likes working for them, cause they're all nasty and rude. Once you get thru to someone after pushing one button after another, with the recorded message asking the same question, they'll ask for your birth date, then a long pause of a couple of minutes, then they'll ask for your name, another long pause - with them searching thru their system to find your name, then they'll ask you to repeat it, another long pause of a couple of minutes. Then you'll finally get to the pointed question, your insurance, you tell them, another long pause, then they'll ask when do you want to come in, I told them anytime, this obviously was confusing to them. Then they asked morning or afternoon, gave them my preference and once again was put on hold, this time for over 5 minutes. Now tell me, do you want to wasted 15 -25 minutes of your time attempting to make an appointment? Does a company that puts you thru this process, sound like a company that you can TRUST to do their work correctly? Yes, I know - the answer is a resounding NO. Frankly when someone treats me well, I compliment them and the company they work for. When someone does the opposite, I complain, hoping they'll see the light and make changes that will help their company become better. I attempted to do this by calling their Corp number, went thru the annoying press this button, press that button, knew the name of the president, entered his name, system said unrecognizable - who would have thought. Finally was able to get thru to Bill Ziemke's voice mail, left him a short message, asking him to give me a call back - Still Waiting! I know from conversations with a couple of docs, that none of these doctors like this company, you'd think that someone, anyone, could open as a competitor and do well. read more

Wish I could rate less than one star. As a follow up on my prior post, I finally got an appointment & went to University Radiology. Was told that in order for them to do the test - I needed to pay over $200, which according to them my insurance company said I would owe. I didn't and after sometime they agreed to do the test. Next day I spoke with my insurance company - they told me that this test was covered 100% and there should be no charge. It's obvious by their rude behavior in scheduling appointments and then once again their Arrogant, Immoral and Shady business practices that we all need to find another place to go for the tests that they do. This type of behavior comes from the Top of the Company and frankly I find it horrible. Next step for me - is to find out which government organization is over facilities like this and report them. read more

I use your facility for every test. There is a 1-2cm nodule in my right breast. Doctor wrote prescription for a mammogram and ultrasound and because of the wording, I was turned away! Took the day off and paid for parking. WAY-TO-GOA university radiology....we will just let the growth continue while the doctor keeps submitting prescriptions until you're satisfied with the wording read more

The bureaucratic phone maze to make the appointment was terrible, but once I got to the office it was a totally different experience. This was the most pleasant medical facility experience I've had in a long time. The receptionists are so nice, and Chris the x-ray technician was especially friendly and sweet! University Radiology on Veronica Avenue does not even deserve one star. The receptionist that "helped" my husband and me almost cost us $2300 because she did not verbally notify us that an MRI was not going to be paid for by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. As an in-network provider, they are obliged to do so. The business office in East Brunswick was terrible too. Wanda Mercado assured me that since my husband signed the hidden waiver, it released the company of their responsibility as a health care provider. There was no care. It took 13 months to complete the battle against them and their debt collector. Beware of the bad treatment. Get another radiology provider. read more

Even one star is over rating them.....they have some serious billing issues....Despite of making payments they kept sending balance payment bill. I have called them multiple times and provides them the proof of payment and they Sia's hey updated their system and next week I get a letter from a debt collection company. I have been patient enough to provide them with same info and it's been 6 months now I still cannot get them to stop calling me. Every time you call you talk to a different rep and they ask you to do the same thing. I am formally going to file a complaint against them to be taken out of my carriers network. I WOULD LIKE TO WARN ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF GOING HERE PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF SOME HASSLE AND DONT GO HERE. Mammogram technician was friendly but the procedure was intensely and inexplicably more painful than previous one I had done elsewhere. Extreme soreness afterward, including ribs and down one arm. I heard another woman whimpering in the changing room next to mine. Seems especially barbaric. read more
