I searched the area for food and this came up. When I got off the train it was conveniently right across the street and very inviting. I was greeted warmly and ordered the hot veggie wrap and theor bottled Ginger juice. They have a very intimate yet spacious space. I sat amd waiting for my order. They do have a small pastry/muffin section, coffee options as well as very good looking lunch amd dinner options. The wrap was smaller than expected but it was so good. The ginger juice was delicious and very gingery. Next time, I will order cassava fries also, should I choose the wrap again if pressed for time. It's a really great vibe. I look forward to returning over and over again.

I've had the chicken yassa and it was so so delicious. I don't drink coffee too often, but when I need a pick me up, this coffee offered me a smooth energy, so I appreciated that. Some coffees make me jittery and feel on edge. The Moroccan mint tea is also great. The staff are very kind and accommodating. I love the atmosphere, and this is a safe place to visit again and again.

Definitely worth stopping by, bright with café tables outside suitable for good weather, you can enjoy here the surrounding view of New York apartment buildings from the 1910s. It's nice to have an independent, eclectic café nearby, especially with the large picture windows to let the sun in. Used to come here when I moved to the neighborhood more often for a coffee and small bite while working... that is when it was 1927 Café Bar Popular before whatever buyout and conversion to Claire's. That being said for me, honing my own home barista skills and noting Claire's food was a little pricey for what you got, had not been inclined to return for some time. In the interim, its interior has been tastefully redone with warm dark wood accents plus some new items are on the menu. Since I do like supporting local business, after spotting a promo on one of the apps, wanted to give their food another try. Some of Claire's dishes have Mediterranean influences, including Israeli origins. Ordered their "Signature" Pastrami Ciabatta (with Chimichurri, Mayo, Swiss Cheese, Sautéed Onion, Red Onion) and Sabih Malawah (a Jewish Yemenite puff pastry flatbread with Roasted Eggplant, Hardboiled Egg, Israeli Salad, Red Onions, Pickles, Tahini). Both were excellent choices (see pics) with the definite winner being the Sabih Malawah! Its tahini was with prepared with beets, served on the side. Not having had anything like Malawah before, found it delicate, flavorful, and really amazing! The Ciabatta, which I brought home to enjoy while working, was also fantastic. The ciabatta itself had the perfect tender, crispy crust allowing it to hold the delicious melded components. With friendly, attentive staff, I plan on returning to Claire's for eats more sooner than later. Recommend you check them out too!

However, we wanted to try something that seemed very interesting. I found the Milano market that offers great sandwiches which is up the block from a friend of mine's high-end supermarket on the west side. After looking at this, we decided to order four sandwiches. A salmon, Eggplant Parm, Cuban and Italian sub sandwiches. I have to say the most important thing in the sandwich is the bread. They offered like fresh baked rustic Ciabatta, and heros. Plus from the panoply of various sandwiches that they make they don't skimp on the condiments or the main ingredients. The salmon which is hard to do was fresh and medium not well done or dry. The eggplant Parm was amazing. The Cuban delicious with fresh pulled pork and stiletto thin ham with an amazing bite made me want to speak a different language, and the Italian made both of us speak in Italian because my beloved speaks fluent Italian and I am part Sicilian. This place is truly a cut above. If you want a sandwich that is truly a meal, this place really doesn't disappoint. Will definitely be going there from time to time for something amazing.
