My wife and daughter have gluten allergies which is how I found Unrefined bakery, it was my wife's birthday and I needed a cake. I've had plenty of gluten free desserts over the years and frankly they are generally mediocre. I walked in and there was a good inventory of cakes to choose from so I was able to check the box and buy one. What came next was unexpected, the cake was FANTASTIC! Even my son and I who can eat just about anything were very impressed, it was well worth the drive from Allen to Richardson. We will be back and look forward to trying more menu items. read more

I went to "Unrefined Bakery" at Campbell & Coit & purchased 2 coffee cakes which were marked $15@. I was in a rush & did not pay attention to the total amount until after my event. They charged me an extra $5 per coffee cake on top of the listed price on the item. I returned the next day for my refund thinking the salesperson just made a mistake. Not so.. the only explanation she could offer was if she hit coffee cakes, the computer adds an extra $5. She would not refund the overcharge. There is no signage in the store stating I could be charged extra once I got to the checkout. Beware...This is a scam. My recommendation is not to shop there due to their unethical business practices. read more

My mom is visiting and is gf so i had to look up gf bakeries in the area beyond just a macaron shop. This place did not disappoint! They had great cupcakes and cookies that were fresh as well as a whole bunch of other gf goodies in their refrigerated cases! Pies, cakes, slices, breads, crusts, etc. As someone who is a baked goods aficionado and not a dedicated gf eater myself, it's important that flavor and quality dont suffer. I was very happy with the quality of the goods we purchased and tasted. I wish the cupcakes were a little bit lighter and fluffier but overall were some of the best gf cupcakes either of us had ever had! The service was great. I always love to ask for recs from the folks that work there and they did not disappoint. We were steered to some super tasty treats and cant wait to go back for more. It felt a little industrial inside and not super cute, so thats something that could be improved, but overall great product! Was in town for an event but also scheduled my little ones cake smash photos. I wanted a cake that was good in flavor, vegan, and not to sweet since I still didn't want him to eat to much sugar. Haha. I am glad i found unrefined bakery because the cake was just what I imagined and wanted. I got it semi naked once again so there wasn't a lot of frosting. My husband and I did try it after the photo shoot and it was delicious. We got raspberry filling. I wish there were fresh fruit but other than that cake was still delicious. Whenever I travel within the U.S., I seek out gluten and dairy-free bakeries. I was happy to find Unrefined bakery, as they are now in my top 5 favorite bakeries!!! While I was in town, I stopped here two times. While here, I tried a vanilla cupcake, loaded monkey cupcake, whoopie pie, and coffee. My husband got an equally delicious hot chocolate made with coconut milk. I had planned to grab some more stuff on a Sunday, but they opened after we left on a drive back to Austin. Overall everything I had here I would recommend. I can't wait to come back while in Dallas to grab more treats and try something savory, like their pizza or sandwiches. read more

Oh my gosh, so excited to have a place in Dallas like this! Wish we had it in Tulsa! I go to Dallas often as I grew up there and my sister still lives in our old neighborhood. One night we passed by it and I looked it up and stopped by on my way back to Tulsa. It was a Monday and they had just moved to this north Dallas location and opened the Saturday a couple of days before. The people there were so nice and helpful. So many samples! I loved all the healthy options. I bought a loaf of gluten free bread (I tasted several samples and they were all good) and bought an iced pumpkin cookie and also got a free cupcake for my Yelp check in. They ended up giving me 2 more cupcakes for free! So nice! Everything was delicious! I put 2 of the cupcakes in the freezer for later; they told me they freeze well. I am so impressed with the flavor, consistency and the fact that the baked goods are not overly sweet, just right! And love the customer service. I will be back the next time I am in town. read more

Yesterday my wife and I stopped in for lunch on our first visit to Unrefined Bakery. For starters, it's much more than a bakery--as impressive as that part of the business is--with an excellent food menu including coffee and tea, smoothies, sandwiches, and pizza! Dallas, yes that's his real name, impressed us as soon as we stepped in the door. His friendly greeting was followed by his asking if we have any special food preferences. When I mentioned that I'm vegan, Dallas mentioned several options on their menu that would work for me. I ordered the very best vegan pizza that I've ever had, and it was the first one that was actually good! :-) Mizael in the kitchen conferred with Dallas about the best options for toppings. In addition to a delicious pizza sauce and several kinds of veggies piled thick, they recommended adding herbed chickpeas for protein. Chickpeas? Wow, they made a perfect flavor and nutritional combo! Ellen had their turkey sandwich with vegan mozzarella, on their unique sandwich bread. She was so excited about the sandwich that she thinks she may order it every time we go there for lunch. Unrefined Bakery is an Uptown gem of the highest order. The overall vibe was of the bakery was welcoming, there were lots of samples on the counter. Service was pretty good. The cashier recommended the chocolate cupcake when I asked for the best seller. So I got a chocolate cupcake, a brownie (sampled), and a carrot cake cupcake (sampled). The chocolate cupcake honestly didn't wow me, there was no strong chocolate flavor or sweetness like it really didn't taste like anything tbh. BUT the brownie was very tasty. Nice chocolate flavor with a fudgy texture and paired well with ice cream. The carrot cake was also delicious. Very moist and the spices shined through. We sampled a chocolate cupcake and it was okay, I ordered a sandwich and it was not very flavorful and the bread was lack luster, even for GF. I didn't expect the sandwich to nock my socks off since it is a bakery. My husband and I split a cookie sandwich and it was definitely better than the sandwich. No catastrophic issues but other chain restaurants offer better tasting options in my opinion. Came to Dallas for a turn around trip for an appointment with a neurosurgeon and had a little time before my flight and typed in Gluten free and this bakery popped up. So glad it did.. Wanted just a cupcake. Ended up leaving with 4 plus cookies and some cream filled. I ate 3 before I got to the airport then the cookies on my lay over. So glad I don't live in Dallas or I would be 300 lbs. The guys working there were super sweet too. This place is my go-to gluten free bakery. Super grateful that they are so close to home. Very hard to find yummy baked goods as a celiac. My favorite cupcakes are the lemon, the chocolate with cream cheese icing, and the chocolate chocolate. I did try the vegan cupcakes as well - the chocolate was good if you put it in the micro for 10 seconds. The vanilla with strawberry cream was inedible. Vegan baked goods are nearly impossible, so I can't ding them for that. Stick to the gluten free goodies on the menu and you will be very pleased: fresh, soft, tasty, and filling! read more

Amazing place for the keto/gluten-free in mind. Right from the start they went out of their way to provide a nice selection ranging from their different breads to the various cupcakes they offer. Breads were very natural tasting, wouldn't have figured they were gluten-free. Cupcakes were actually really good, I think the frosting helps to provide a buffer for the gluten-free aspect as the cupcake has a somewhat crumbly texture to it without the gluten. I sent a question via Yelp which was responded to very quickly. It gave me the information I needed and a link to see my choices with prices. I was ordering a custom cookie cake for my daughter's birthday. I needed to have it delivered as I am in Austin and she is in Dallas and we are all sheltering in place. The girl who took my order over the phone was very friendly. The manager continued the order due to needing delivery instructions. He said he would deliver it himself at the requested time. He was very nice as well. It was delivered on time and my daughter said it is beautiful! I will post a pic as soon as she sends me one. When in Dallas, I have visited the location on Greenville and had very good experiences as well. My daughter visits here often as she is gluten intolerant and they have gluten-free products and keto products. I love this place! I wish there was one in Austin! The people at the shop are always super helpful with recommendations and they have macros/nutritional information for everything. They should rename this place the frozen cupcake distributor since none are made on site and made somewhere else and frozen. Bakery means you bake them there. There are surely lots of freezers there. I considered heating it up but if I wanted to cook my own food I would not have ordered delivery. it was soft and a little soggy, the pizza sauce was good and so was the pepperoni so it saved the overall cold soggy pizza mess. i also ordered a slice of vegan chocolate silk pie that turned up to be nearly frozen. The lady that helped us was super helpful and knowledgeable about what ingredients are in everything they have. She brought out a menu and crossed off what we couldn't have as well as one for me. I got the keto-vegan pecan pie. I only got a slice (probably should've gotten a whole pie lol). Also, got a summer berry and a muffin all of which were awesome! We went back the next day for the cinnamon roll/muffin. Crisped it up at home on the cast iron with some pure maple syrup. Can't wait to go back. We bought 6 cupcakes, two flavors were good an 8 out of 10 score = the chocolate peanut butter and carrot cake. The chocolate cupcakes were terrible as there was no flavor to the cake or frosting. The frosting was like a crisco mouth and the cake needed more cocoa powder, salt and chunks of chocolate would have been helpful. I cant believe a bakery doesn't taste test a new batch of cupcakes before presenting to customers. Dip and taste test the frosting too. Very disappointing for sure. read more

Then they told me they would only agree to physically put it into my car, which would also defeat the purpose of avoiding close human contact.
