I stopped by La Casita Bakeshop on a Sunday morning an hour after they had opened and it was already pretty busy in the dine-in area of the store. Fortunately, if you're not dining in, ordering from the to-go line is very quick, and there's even a comfy seating area in the front where you can enjoy your food and beverages. In addition to a double shot espresso I ordered, I also got a broccoli mac and cheese croissant. The croissant was expensive ($7.50), but it's hearty enough to be a meal. I wasn't offered an option to toast up the pastry, but I didn't particularly mind the coldness of the mac and cheese component of the pastry. The croissant surrounding the filling was flakey with nicely laminated layers. Meanwhile, the filling was satisfyingly salty and rich. Although the pastry was tasty, it's probably something I would only try once -- rather than something I would get regularly, due to how heavy the pastry ate. Overall, if you're looking for skillfully prepared, creative pastries, La Casita Bakeshop definitely fits the bill. read more

Went with a big party and it was popping. The coffee was good. The pastries looked super appetizing. They sold English muffins in a bag that were homemade and those were super delicious. I know these things happen but I hope that it isn't a bigger problem. My friend to go'd a delicious cake that was seasonal and it was beautiful and delicious. I've been to La Casita Bakeshop several times with a variety of friends and it's been amazing every single time. This location is my favorite one. I made a reservation for my friend and I a few days early because they tend to get busy, and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was attentive and very friendly, and understood exactly what I wanted when I placed an order of the baked goods before anything else, since those tend to sell out as the morning progresses. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich special and was so excited I forgot to take a picture! The place was busy but the volume was never so loud that my friend and I felt the need to raise our voices, and the smell of freshly baked bread was very comforting. We left feeling satisfied and with plenty of leftovers. The price was also extremely reasonable, except for the box of desserts I ordered to go lol we did give the olive oil cake a try before departing, and it was delightful. This place is pretty good. I was impressed with the grab and go fresh bread they offer. Next time I need a loaf of sourdough I know where to go. This place is two concepts in one. Full service brunch on the left with a hostess and a full coffee bar with pastries and grab and the go fresh bread. I didn't come for anything specific other than to check it out. I wanted to get an iced tea since it was hot out, but I didn't see that on the menu. I may have missed it and didn't ask though. My wife ordered a coffee drink. She said it was very strong. I could tell since she was bouncing around the house for the next few hours driving me nuts lol. The pastries were fresh and flavorful. They are the real reason for the visit and it did not disappoint. The tart was crisp and flavorful. The puff had some rice in it. It was okay. I didn't really get any mango though. I do plan on coming back to try other offerings. That freshly baked bread was so nice and warm I really need to plan a meal around it. I also really enjoyed their salta matcha latte on the side :) As for the bakery, the monkey bread is a favorite; however i believe they offer specific goodies on specific days, so i'll have to come back at another time to enjoy the fruit tart i saw on that specific menu. read more

Our first time here and we went on a Sunday, so the dine-in wait time was about 55 minutes. I didn't know about reservations so most of the tables were empty but they were all reserved. The waiting area was really nice and spacious. We got to try the Love Potion Latte (limited time), the Croissant Monkey Bread ($4.75), and the Birria Brisket Croque Madame ($19). The Love Potion Latte was okay, it's made of chocolate mocha, espresso, milk, and dried strawberry chunks. The Croissant Monkey Bread was delicious. The dough pulled apart so well and the cinnamon sugar on top added a nice touch to it. They toasted your bread too so it was warm and moist. The Birria Brisket Croque Madame was the best! It is a huge portion and we cut it in halves already, but it filled us up! The sourdough was still crispy, well-toasted, and it absorbed the juices from the birria so well. We went for a light breakfast but came out so full and stuffed. The prices are a bit expensive but it was reasonable for the quality and portion size. Overall, I had a really pleasant experience and would definitely come back! We ordered the strawberry shortcake, which was delicious (8.5/10), and the jalapeño croissant quiche was light, flaky, and full of flavor (8/10). I especially loved the horchata cold brew, though the vanilla cold foam cold brew didn't wow me as much. An absolute gem in Richardson -- we'll definitely be back! La Casita Bakeshop completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and our server Diana made the whole experience. She was knowledgeable, genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, and so pleasant to talk to -- exactly the kind of hospitality that turns a good meal into a great one. The food itself was outstanding. We ordered the French Toast and the Birria Brisket Croque Madame, and both were incredible -- beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The Croque Madame especially blew us away; it's the kind of dish you think about after you leave. The side hash rounded it all out perfectly. And then there are the pastries. We grabbed the Mango Sticky Rice Cream Puff and the Amaretto Cherry Basque Cheesecake Brownie from the Weekend Selections -- both were stunning, not just visually but in flavor. The cheesecake brownie topped with those cherry meringues looked almost too good to eat. Almost. Washed everything down with the Salted Honey Matcha and it was the perfect companion to the whole spread. Honestly, the hardest part was choosing -- the menu is so creative and well thought-out that we already have a list of things we want to try next time. And there will be a next time. We visited La Casita with our friends while in Dallas recently and really enjoyed it! Our waitress, whose name I unfortunately did not catch, was attentive to our group throughout our visit even though with three littles at the table it was a bit rowdy. We genuinely enjoyed our beverages and food! Some of the food orders at our table were the chilaquiles, birria croque monsieur, breakfast burger, monkey bread, and pesto/parm croissant. The pictures really speak to the execution and quality of these dishes! We also got some baked goods to go - strawberry/guava pop tart, blueberry pistachio danish, and pesto/parm croissant. I am always a little cautious when I pull up to an old strip mall to go eat breakfast, but for this restaurant I was pleasantly surprised when I ate their specialty pastries and breakfast crispy potato sandwich! The other pastry I ordered was their orange ginger cranberry eggnog Bundt cake - mmmmm! It was light, airy, full of flavor and just down right delicious! My crispy potato sandwich was amazing! The poblano aioli leveled up the taste. I will definitely order it again. I was so excited to talk about the food that I wanted to talk about the atmosphere later in my review. Again, it's in an old strip mall and you feel when you walk into the restaurant. There are old 80s tiles on the ceiling and the windows have probably been here since then too. The decor is sparse and underwhelming, and it's all open so you hear every plate being placed on the tables, and every conversation that is happening around you. This place isn't about the aesthetics of the restaurant - it's about having really great food! The service was outstanding! Once we were sat down, our waitress was at our table with water and our menus. We asked for suggestions and she didn't hesitate, she offered up some great ones for us, and she was right. Was looking forward to trying La Casita for a few weeks now, but i left not really loving our meal . The croissant didn't taste fresh, wasn't flaky more like dry & hard. Wow this place has an awesome blend of Hispanic and Asian cuisine! I love the idea. This place is a bakery but you can also sit down and eat as well. Their menu has both sweet and savory options with quite a few fusion options if you want to try something unique. I got the passion fruit french toast as my main dish since I had already eaten prior, and while it was a little too sweet for me the passion fruit flavor was definitely present, and the texture of the French toast was moist. Unfortunately by the time I got there at 12:30, they had ran out of a lot of drinks so I ended up getting the black sesame hojicha, which was good too! I would like to try some of their banana flavored items next time as those ran out the quickest. I would also want to try their more savory items. read more

The chilaquiles were honestly some of the best I've had -- I loved that the tortilla chips stayed crunchy the whole time instead of getting soggy like they do at some places. And that salsa verde on top? So good. Both the chilaquiles and the blueberry Earl Grey scone were my favorites. The scone was especially nice and moist with a unique flavor combo. I also liked the churro cruffin, and the birria brisket croque madame was delish and satisfying. Two of us ordered the Sweet Potato Latte and one got the Turkish latte, all half sweet (we generally prefer less sweetness than most), and all three of us really liked ours. Great food, but front-of-house operations and management are a total mess My family and I finally visited La Casita Bakeshop over the weekend after seeing a lot of marketing for it. While the food itself was definitely good, the front-end operations were incredibly poor, and the service left a lot to be desired. The serving staff seemed completely untrained and lacked basic common sense, right down to knowing how to properly handle plates and utensils. To make matters worse, we encountered the shift manager, Jesus, on Sunday, May 24th. Not only was he arrogant, but he completely lacked Customer Service 101 skills. At one point, he told us the wait time would be an hour, yet there were four completely empty tables inside and servers were just standing around idle. He is clearly an inexperienced restaurant manager who does not know how to efficiently run a floor or manage a team. A major caution for potential guests ordering takeout: The staff has absolutely no clue how to properly pack food. They packed runny eggs into a standard cardboard box, which inevitably leaked right through the holes and made a massive mess everywhere (see attached picture). On top of that, for a bakery and coffee spot, they didn't even carry basic options like 2% or Lactaid milk. My humble suggestion to the owners is to invest some serious time and guidance into improving your front-of-house operations and management training. The kitchen is doing its part, but the front-end experience and sloppy packaging are dragging the whole establishment down. read more

Maricsa Trejo, the owner of La Casita Bakeshop has been on the news a lot in the Dallas/Fort Worth area recently. It seems she is a contestant on Gordon Ramsey's Next Level Baker Show. I'm not going to lie, it kind of made me want to come try her bakeshop! When we arrived, apparently a lot of other people had the same idea I had...there was a bit of a wait! It went by quickly though, in about half the time they had quoted us. Once seated, our server Diana greeted us warmly. She would become key in helping make this a five star experience for us. La Casita is a Richardson icon, and for good reason. We normally grab our pastries to-go, but today we decided to dine in. The ambiance is always so welcoming and kid friendly with a lot of background noise in case your kids prefer not to use their inside voice like mine. The coffees are always delicious with seasonal offerings, but I settled on a vanilla latte which was rich in a not-too-sweet kind of way. The kids plate was huge and they kindly swapped bacon for avocado which was a hit. The chilaquiles were deliciously crispy despite being soaked in a delicious salsa verde. The eggs were cooked to perfection. And of course we couldn't pass up a few croissants for "later" (the car ride home). The menu is cool but what we got fell flat. The peaches n crem iced tea didn't really have much peach that you could taste. The black sesame latte barely had sesame flavor. The birria croque madame was good but very heavy and after a few bites it just felt too greasy and one note to enjoy. The pastries, however, were good. I love a good brunch. My current favorite is Old West Cafe, but this spot is now close to the top of the list. Apparently, they have a few locations. This one is in a slightly rundown strip mall, which is pretty typical for DFW. Inside, though, it's a lovely space with an open kitchen, exposed brick, and a warm atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait, so I took the opportunity to eye all the pastries. They all looked incredible. I had read that they make their own English muffins and was hoping to grab a six-pack to take home, but they were already sold out. I settled for a loaf of their dense and tasty sourdough, which we've been enjoying all week. When we were finally seated, I asked our fantastic server Brad if there were any English muffins hiding in the back. Sadly, there weren't. But Brad, MVP that he is, surprised us with three complimentary pastries: a dulce cruffin, a carrot cake cookie, and a lavender cream doughnut-like treat. We split the cruffin before our meals and took the other two home. Let's just say that my husband cannot provide any feedback whatsoever of those 2 pastries (wink!) I ordered the mushroom toast, and my husband had the potato breakfast sandwich. My toast featured perfectly deep-fried jammy eggs, which stole the show. The mushrooms were delicious, though I wouldn't have minded a touch of creaminess added in. My husband's sandwich was a full-on carbohydrate bomb, but he even added bacon... Talk about an "atta boy!!" I loved everything about this place and cannot wait to go back. One day, I'll finally get my hands on those English muffins. I'm determined. Be sure and go to the restroom while you are at this location, as it allows you to to view the bakery in action through the large windows in the hallway. read more

I had heard great things about La Casita and finally had a chance to check it out. I had a Matcha Latte which was amazing! So smooth and delicious! I also had a Murder Cruffin which was a Cruffin with Raspberry filling and White Chocolate on top. The filling is great because it is tangy and really sets off the sweetness of the Chocolate on top. La Casita was a whole experience- lovely light pouring through the whole bakeshop and restaurant- all the seasonal smells and the coffee- it was the best dreamy vibe. We arrived around 10:15, waited about an hour but were able to snag one about 45 minutes later- I had to have a coffee right away so we veered right to order at the to go counter and sipped coffee and enjoyed a super flaky almond croissant before getting our table. The food was very flavorful- I got the chilaquiles to share, we also shared the banana pancakes- bomb. My coffee was awesome- it was a seasonal mocha with maybe a little orange- So good! This place has been on my list to try for quite a while because I don't live very far. Finally went in, and it was just ok. I got the sourdough loaf and a cinnamon roll. Figured those would be two good benchmarks for trying a bakery. The sourdough was as good as the one I get from the bakery section in Whole Foods and about the same price. The cinnamon roll was just fine. It was a little light on filling, which made it a bit dry for my taste. The icing also had a consistency closer to whipped cream. Less dense/buttery than I like for a cream cheese topping. The place was very busy and seems very popular.
