Lived here for 30 years. First time trying it out. Wife tried it with previous owner over 16 years ago. Got lots of stuff; pies, cakes, cookies. Delicious. I thought Normas Cafe had best pies until now. Same with Crumbl Cookies. Sugar and Spice is going to be our go to favorite place. I have to try sandwiches and soup. read more

What a cute and rather comfy little tucked away sandwich/bakery in Plano. Honestly, I had no idea it was in this area, until a friend brought me there. And while I sat my table I watch so many people come in and order lunch or pick up delicious baked goods to take home. It's a quiet little gem! The owner is so personal and makes you feel right at home quickly in his space. He loves to talk about what he has to offer - and oh my, the sweets are worth coming back for! For lunch I had a special chicken salad sandwich with baked potato soup - both hit the spot perfectly! You taste the homemade in each item. It was honestly a wonderful experience. Over the years, several people I know and trust have recommended I try Sugar and Spice Bakery. But I'm a loyalist, and Millstone is OUR bakery. Nevertheless, I was on the hunt for really good petit fours (because sometimes you just want a piece of cake and in a two-person household, it can be a pain to work through a larger cake). So I gave Sugar and Spice a try. The shop itself, even in the midst of a pandemic, reminds me of a small tea shop - a place where you ought to meet up with lady friends (or guy friends who enjoy homey cutesy spots) for a cup of tea and a sweet treat. I was surprised to discover they offer lunch, but not at all surprised to discover it was tea house style offerings - pimento cheese, chicken salad and so on. Immediately I regretted not making my exploratory trip at lunchtime. Because pimento cheese. Anyway, I picked up a couple of petit fours since that's what I came to try. They offer them in chocolate and vanilla. I'd arrived close to closing time, so only vanilla was available. I figured I owed my family, and Yelp, a duty to try other things so I also bought buttercream iced sugar cookies, a ginger cookie and a frosted oatmeal cranberry cookie. I needn't have feared cheating on Millstone by coming here. Sugar and Spice is more of a sweet bakery - pies, cookies, cupcakes and so on. Millstone is primarily a bakery, with French-style treats. Different lanes, allowing me to be loyal to each. On to what we thought of the goodies: * Ginger cookie - nice and on the softer side (but I wouldn't call it soft, though a 5 second microwave would have made it quite tender). The ginger was well-balanced. Husband proclaimed this a winner. * Oatmeal cranberry cookie - nice and tasty, but nothing special. That's ok, you don't have to like everything. * Buttercream iced sugar cookies - I planned to eat a half and save a half. I ate the whole thing. It was that good. And the icing wasn't dried out either (remember - I was there at the end of the business day!) * Petit fours - oh man. These were amazing. Tender cake, almond-infused frosting. Winner, winner, winner. No more wishing Stein's Bakery was closer. Will we be back? Yes. The husband's already instructed me to buy slices of pie so he can test their baking skills. As an epic home pie baker, I'm slightly offended by this directive but also relieved since I don't always have time/energy to make a pie whenever one is wanted. read more

My husband & son took me here at my request for a tea-room-like lunch for Mother's Day weekend. I ordered the finger sandwiches (came with chips), fruit cup, thumbprint sugar cookie with icing, and lemon bar with hot tea. I loved the presentation despite the fact it was on a paper plate! It was made beautiful with the doily and accented with a two carrots, pickles & olives. The fruit was a great variety, cut up small so as it was easy to eat, and extremely fresh! The thumbprint cookie was so soft and delicious and one was plenty to satisfy my sweet tooth. Thus, I saved the lemon bar for later. My only comment on what would have made it perfect would be if it had been served on China and my hot tea with a nice China tea cup instead of a styrofoam cup. I bought petit fours for my Mother's Day event I hosted and they were beautiful and tasted great! I'm definitely going to go to this bakery/restaurant again! read more

Wonderful!!! Exquisite!!! What this fabulous bakery did for me was way beyond the call of duty for anyone. The owner ( please forgive me, can't remember your precious name), you and your staff are incredible!! Called asking if they could make 2 birthday cakes and a birthday pecan pie. But, that's not the easy part! One cake was vanilla wedding cake with the Minnesota gopher mascot and colors. The other cake was chocolate on chocolate with UConn's mascot and colors. The pie was amazing! Perfect pecan pie, (oh my gosh, order early for Thanksgiving and Christmas- - REALLY), it had Bevo with orange and white colors. I'm telling you, you wouldn't believe how moist and delicious the cakes were. The PECAN PIE was out of this world!! Of course, had to have a couple of chocolate chip cookies YUM! Mom could never make them this good. Mom's were really good, however these could win competitions. Inside they have sandwiches, soups and salads . They might have more, it smells like home. If your looking for quality baked goods or lunch or p/u dinner . Do yourself a favor. STOP HERE. I've been trying to find a bakery that actually made their desserts from scratch so that I could get a cake for my love's birthday and Sugar and Spice knocked it out of the park! I asked for a carrot cake and it was ready on time, delicious, and flavorful. It's a nice small bakery with seating inside and some lunch as well. Very beautiful and brings peace. Thank you to the owner who provided exceptional service and brought to life what I asked for! 11/10 recommend coming here! And I'll be back for some lunch soon too read more

This place is like stepping into a country kitchen. The owner is very attentive and courteous. I came in to pick up a couple of different types of cookies as I have been craving a perfect chocolate chip cookie for quite some time now. I bought the cookies to go and I ended up buying a slice of carrot cake. Their carrot cake is pure perfection. There is some serious density to this classic cake. There is a ton of fresh carrot, walnuts and coconut to this fresh cake. The spice is just right with what I believe to be a hint of pineapple to it. It's so good. This place has a sandwich shop inside and I will have to come back and try one day. read more

Sometimes when you get a sweet tooth you just gotta cave in and fill it. And I say "fill it" because from all the delicious options here you will be sure to get a cavity. I went closer to closing and Jeremy was behind the counter. Most people hate when it's the end of the day and you get customers but not him. He welcomed me with a smile on his face ready to please. Since it was my first time I decided to get a little bit of everything. Cookies: I got the chocolate chip, chocolate pecan, and salted caramel. These were baked to perfection with the right amount of softness to them. You will do well to get as many as you can as I'm sure they will please the whole family (or yourself). Cupcakes: I got the Lemon and Chocolate. Out of my overall tastebud enjoyment the Lemon wasn't my favorite. It had a strange taste to it. I wonder if they used too much citric acid. The chocolate was super moist and rich but not overly sweet. Cake: I got the strawberry cake and I don't know what they did but I think I found my new favorite place for strawberry cake. It was just like my grandma used to make. Pie: I got the Tollhouse Pie. Jeremy said to nuke it for 15-20 seconds and I'm glad I did. It was like it was fresh out the oven. And before y'all judge me this review took multiple days to complete so I could give y'all the overall experience of what they offer. Overall I highly recommend this place. It's a Plano gem that should be cherished by all around. They have sandwiches and soups if you are looking for something more substantial to eat. So do yourself a favor and swing by here. read more

Came in here after hearing a lot of positive things about this place and the baked goods did not disappoint! We got an assortment of cookies a couple different slices of pie. (The chess pie, peach crumble, and frosted sugar cookies are 10/10) However, while the man up front was packing our order, I was texting on my phone. He got on to me about it asking if I was taking a video of him and I replied no just texting and turned my phone toward him so he could see the screen. We both went back to what we were doing, but not 30 sec later he yells at me this time saying I "need to take that outside" and "stop recording or pointing the camera at him" when I was just standing there texting. He made us both uncomfortable and gave us pretty bad vibes, but while he finished packing things up, the woman who owns the place came and chatted with us the rest of the time. I don't think he is the owner which is why I won't give a bad review because this place was delicious, but I don't think he needs to be the face working with customers. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

This is a local spot with delicious treats. I feel like that really needs to be said. I've only had the cookies and petit fours, but they really are out of this world. Sugar and Spice is a great place to get decorated treats for the family, but I would hesitate to purchase something for a party or gift because the appearance isn't the same quality you would see from a professional bakery. read more

Clean small bakery on inside of Parkway Plaza center, Parker Road at Indepence. When you see SUBWAY, then Sugar & Spice is behind it. A very nice interior with small tables for 4 along each wall. Country, or even Country French look to it. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. I was looking for a snack, actually. On a "bargain table" was a package of iced cookies, and bars for $5. Deal. The sign in the door says something along the lines of "Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands" or something about hand washing, yet the man used his bare hands on the cookies I ordered. He served another customer and took payment prior to helping me. I was a bit grossed out. The icing was okay, but the cookies were stale. I'd rather get grocery store cookies, which is a bummer. On the other hand, I was intrigued by the sandwiches and the pre-made meals, but I have no reason to return. read more

This is a little bakery but has enough indoor seating for about 5 tables of 2-4. Upon walking in we noticed most people had sandwiches and no pies, cookies, etc. I had ordered two dozen onesie cookies for a baby shower. After looking over their display case my husband got a German chocolate cupcake and I got the cherry coconut macaroon. The total for 2 dozen cookies, one extra cookie and cupcake was $66. The cherry coconut macaroon was ok. It's not a traditional macaroon. It's basically a baked lump of coconut with some cherry flavoring. Nothing amazing. My husband said his German chocolate cupcake was good, a little dry but good. The onesie cookies weren't as cute as some Ive seen at other places. They were a little boring actually. They were also very sloppy with the lines. They would have been cuter if they had been smaller, had more detail to them and they hadn't rushed when decorating. Overall an ok bakery. I wouldn't recommend ordering specialty cookies here. However their sandwiches seemed popular based off the amount of people that where there eating them. read more

YUMMY! We are so lucky to have this little family-owned bakery in our neighborhood. The owners are so friendly, it's always a nice experience coming in to buy treats. My favorite item are their thumbprint cookies. They are SO pillowy and delicious and I eat too many of them. They also make a mean apple pie. You can buy a slice of their apple pie for around $4, and it definitely rivals some of the well-known pie places in Dallas that charge a lot more money for their pies. Overall a real gem of a bakery! read more

Thankful I went to this local bakery that was much closer to home than to the bigger place in Dallas for my petite fours. CupcAkes have gotten so over the top $ and way too sweet, so I went with petite four for my daughters baptism. Just the perfect amount of icing--not too much at all. The almond flavor was so tasty. Rude owner, tried to connect with the owner, like I do with all the owners in our community. He must get allot of sales calls or something, but still no excuse to be rude. Ill continue to rate the business. Was a customer before this too! Bet he didn't know I have spent 100s here, and was trying to call and connect rather then just taking up his time in person. Main goal was to get an email I could send info to about why I wanted to connect. Lost my business, not because he didn't want to connect with me, but because of how rude he was and assumptive. Your a business owner, Connecting with people is in the job description lmao. Dont be rude about it, life is to short and towns are to small! read more

While the food itself was definitely good, the front-end operations were incredibly poor, and the service left a lot to be desired. To make matters worse, we encountered the shift manager, Jesus, on Sunday, May 24th. Not only was he arrogant, but he completely lacked Customer Service 101 skills. At one point, he told us the wait time would be an hour, yet there were four completely empty tables inside and servers were just standing around idle. He is clearly an inexperienced restaurant manager who does not know how to efficiently run a floor or manage a team. A major caution for potential guests ordering takeout: The staff has absolutely no clue how to properly pack food. They packed runny eggs into a standard cardboard box, which inevitably leaked right through the holes and made a massive mess everywhere (see attached picture). On top of that, for a bakery and coffee spot, they didn't even carry basic options like 2% or Lactaid milk. My humble suggestion to the owners is to invest some serious time and guidance into improving your front-of-house operations and management training. The kitchen is doing its part, but the front-end experience and sloppy packaging are dragging the whole establishment down.

Since it's in downtown Plano, there's street parking, which wasn't difficult for me since I came at 8 AM. I believe there are parking garages located nearby. There was a continuous flow of people in and out. The location is definitely set up to be a to-go place and NOT somewhere you come to sit and eat. No ambiance. No need to bring the friends and family, just send someone to buy a box of treats and enjoy at home. Being in a strip-mall complex, parking is easy.
