I hired Rachel to help design and coach me through a workout program that I could do in my home.

When I think yoga I think women, vegetarians, tree hugging eccentrics, and a workout for those that don't. Well... there were women there. Having come off of a recent ACL reconstruction and working through an elbow injury. I thought this would be a breeze (that's what I get for thinking) and would be an easy prerequisite to getting back into my workout routine and an increase in my flexibility, because yoga equals flexible right? I've done some cross fit and the only yoga I know is from street fighters Dhalsim (YOGA FLAME SON! ). Expecting to outdo the women in this class and showcase my bravado. I attended. Quickly I had my pride stripped away and my expectations exceeded. These women kick butt, this class kicked mine. I am more flexible and confidence in my knee is returning. Yliana is a capable, patient, motivational and spiritual instructor. I have attended several sessions so far and haven't been disappointed in the intensity and variety of the workouts. Today was a rooftop session! Which was GLORIOUS! Because sun in Seattle is like winning the lottery! I will continue to attend her style of yoga. Men, leave your ego or have it devoured.

My friend has even been out of town and I'm still going on my own (this is nothing short of miraculous). I am loving how I look and feel from this class. It's a great workout with awesome music and an instructor who clearly loves what she does; I highly recommend!

Yes, she refunded my money, but fat shaming from a personal trainer is wild to me. If you want to tone up and are skinny this may work for you, but if you fat and really want to lose significant weight, look for a different program. There are trainers/coaches out there that have no issues with modification and working with you where you are NOW. Kimae isn't one of those people. It has taken YEARS of therapy and finding the right kind of coach to be even able for me to say anything about the treatment I received at her hands....which is SO messed up because I really did like the way she would break down an exercise. She would explain how a specific movement would work which muscles. And I was truly learning a lot. That's why I was caught off guard when I was told me she couldn't help me.

My partner and I started bootcamps at around the same time, he chose a former athlete trainer who…read moreis an NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist with an indoor facility and equipment. I went with Kimae's bootcamp thinking that certification didn't matter and having an all women outdoor bootcamp would give camaraderie and be nice for summer. From her website Kimae states she is certified in holistic fitness coaching and group training through the CHEK Institute. For some reason though she is not listed anywhere on the CHEK website as a trainer. From the start our bootcamps were very different, my partner's bootcamp class size averaged 10-15 students where as Kimae's is 40-60 students as she runs two classes at once for newbies and returnees. That is where the problems lay. With that many students Kimae is understandably overwhelmed, unable to check form or field questions. Half of the class time you are running laps as she gives instruction to the other group and then sends them off to run laps as she gives instructions to your group. My partner's bootcamp is entirely devoted to specific exercises that build on each other and each student is given adjustments to their form as they exercise. She is unable to meet the goals of her advertising from her website. More then half of the class miss the instruction she gives for the next set of exercises and have to ask each other. It is very difficult to ask a question as there are just too many participants. She had one entire set of class exercises taken from a magazine page which she emailed the link for. That was embarrassing for me compared to the specific workouts my partner was getting in his bootcamp. She has a weekly statement of nutrition advice she gives everyone and is unable to get more personalized then that. She canceled our group's second week calls and failed to provide the promised food diary feedback via email. After experiencing a mild ankle sprain and asking about the makeup policies, any suggestions for working around the sprain during the 2 weeks off needed for healing and requesting the nutrition food diary feedback she promised now 2 weeks late, Kimae then sent an email with a fake header saying it was from one week prior but she failed to check the reference ID's in the message source, and then she dropped me from the rest of the session and refunded my class fee telling me to sign up with another trainer. I took her suggestion and will now be working with my partner's trainer. I do hope she can run her business in a more sustainable and less shady way and provide a better service then what she is doing. Clients are more likely to continue working with you if you are honest about your mistakes. For anyone considering the bootcamp my advice would be to skip this one, there are better bootcamps in Seattle with more knowledgeable trainers.

Plus, I've been getting my muscles back. So exciting! This is such a great fitness program, and the instructors and participants make it easy to be there at 6 a.m., in the cold, dark Seattle fall. Across the board, everyone is incredibly friendly and inclusive. It's not a bunch of brides trying to look good for their big day (which is great! this would be your ticket!); it's mostly fit moms who are committed to long-term health and fitness. I feel closer to my community, which is a hugely unexpected and positive consequence. I've been going 3 days a week at 6 a.m. at the Phinney Neighborhood Center parking lot, and some Saturdays at 8 a.m. at Golden Gardens. And, really, this is good for any fitness level. I could barely keep up the first week, and I've come a long way in the past month. Each workout is different and challenging, and the hour flies by.

When I first got to OTF I was a little back and forth about the prices, I thought it seemed expensive from a typical gym membership, but then again this isn't your average gym. For every class you have an AMAZING trainer in there with you and everyday there is a new work out so your muscles never get used to doing the same thing (which happens when you do those great DVDs at home). I took the three free classes to try it out and was hooked! I immediately saw changes in my over all health. My endurance was higher I was sleeping better, not to mention I was burning a sh*% ton of calories. I've been an athlete for years, I've coached, and hosted workout classes at Western Washington so I can speak to a wide range of people when I say (OTF) orange theory is for everyone. Hopefully if you are reading my review you kind of already know what this place is about (because I didn't really get into that part) but I will mention that each person wears a heart rate monitors during their work out that is projected on a board to keep track of where they are throughout their workout. So how does this work for everyone For the athlete: If you tend to be more competitive and need a harder work out, This class is great for you you get your results after every class and you can constantly try to improve on them the next time. You can also push yourself during ever work out by making sure you stay in the zones
