Here are my notes from the tasting.

Standouts (IMO) were: 2019 Grenache, 2019 Cuvee Foudre, 2019 Benchland Syrah, and the 2018 Aglianico.
James Y.

Phenomenal tasting. You can get better ambiance elsewhere nearby (I recommend Flowers if you're looking for an outdoor spot), but if you're trying to figure out where to go to take some bottles home, this is the spot. We took 6 bottles back with us. I attached my notes in case they're helpful, but unfortunately my writing isn't very legible, oops. 2019 Grenache: A GSM that would pair well with lighter foods 2019 Cuvee Foudre: Another standout GSM that's a little more acidic than the Grenache. 2019 Benchland Syrah: Would pair well with gamier meats (duck, lamb, etc) 2018 Aglianico: Pair well with slow-cooked fatty meats 2019 Sangiovese West Terrace: I would drink this on its own.

Our fantastic wine host, Lucy!

We loved the private, intimate tasting with lots of attention from Lucy. We felt she was dedicating her time to make sure we were having an enjoyable tasting. We loved how small and private the tasting room is. Best of all, we loved the wine and the fantastic value Unti offers. We appreciate a server who listens to us and doesn't waste our time with wine we will not enjoy. We went straight to red wine. One of the best surprises was being served Rosé after everything. It was perfect! We don't generally prefer Rosé, but we did love this one!! I also picked up a bottle of olive oil, though they didn't have it available for tasting. This tasting was recommended by a page I follow on Facebook. It was a fun experience. We drove home through the country and really enjoyed the beautiful day.

Wonderful reds!

Unti doesn't really show up on the average web search for "wineries in Healdsburg." We were referred to Unti by a friend who is very knowledgeable and VERY selective about wines, who said this place was hands down his "favorite for red wines in Sonoma." With a recommendation like that, we had to go for it! We were able to get a next-day appointment via email and the team was super responsive at helping us pick times that worked for our schedule. Unti has wonderfully good, nuanced Italian varietals. Memorable ones included their Aglanico, Barbera, and Vermentino. But honestly, we had every wine on the tasting (and a few more that the team allowed us to try), and every single one was quite nice. Importantly, Unti's wines come at a remarkably good price point given how expensive other wines in the Healdsburg and surrounding areas can be. At all the other nearby wineries we went to, we picked up maybe 1-4 bottles each at around $45-75 per bottle. At Unti, we got a full case. Both because they were very good, and because on average these wines were in the $30s. Phenomenal value. Additionally, the tasting room is small and intimate. You're not going to have a glamorous seating here complete with 5-course food pairing. Come here for an honest and unpretentious tasting of incredibly good (taste AND value) wine, and kind, knowledgeable folks explaining it to you. Another thing we appreciated was Unti's attention to weather when it comes to shipping. I was initially upset that we had to wait some time to receive the case of wine we had ordered, but that's because Unti timed their shipment to avoid a local heat wave (it was mid-August) and thereby ensure that the wines wouldn't get cooked in hot cross-country drives. Can't wait to come back here again, and I strongly recommend you do as well!

This is by appointment only and I now understand why! It is an experience.. not just wine tasting but the staff here love to talk about their wines, other wines and wines around the world. They are knowledgeable and friendly folks here! All the wines we had, literally the first time at a wine tasting for me, all of them were great wines! I loved the Vermentino, Zinfandel, Barberra and all the other in the list. The owners are Italian and thus the wines are inspired by Italian tastes and some French.. amazing wines. Great service! They also have a cute picnic area. They grow their own grapes and own acres of vineyard land in Dry Creek Valley.

Unti has a lot to offer. It has an intimate tasting room and a cheap tasting price. Appointments are recommended, but I noticed some small groups walking in on this February weekend. The sommelier taking us through the tastings, while not rushed, did not really seem personable or seem to care about our experience. But she presented the six wines to us seamlessly. With that said, I did not love any of the wines we were tasting, which was a little bit of a bummer. Nonetheless, I could tell they were high-quality wines, and I learned a little bit about concrete barrels used for making wine. I wish the outdoor space was more substantial, but it overlooks the driveway, electrical post, and then the vineyards. Overall, this is a non-pretentious vineyard and has a relatively cheap tasting price, boosting it up a star in my overall rating.

We chose to drop in Marine Layer Wines. The tasting room is located in a very nice area in beautiful downtown Healdsburg across Healdsburg square. The vibe was inviting and family friendly. There was a cozy fireplace in the front as well. We ordered a glass of Lyra Pinot Noir and a glass of Aries Chardonnay. My Pinot Noir was smooth while the wifey's Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing. The wine was great quality. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Marine Layer Wines. The staff was nice and helpful. I made reservations for two adults and two young teenagers on a Tuesday morning and were the first guests to arrive that day. We were greeted with a welcome glass and were told they were setting up our table. That gave us enough time to do a couple of selfies and within minutes, we were escorted inside. Season Leef was our host/wine ambassador that morning and we loved her energy, attention to detail and how she treated us like we were members of the MacRostie Winery/family. She was more about understanding our palettes and pouring us what we gravitated towards to showcase the vast portfolio Heidi (winemaker) has been able to produce. Usually not a fan of Chardonnays but it was a neat experience tasting different variables and how each one is slightly different. We know we like Pinot Noirs so when we started diving into the reds, thats when we started figuring out what we liked. Ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2022 Nightwing Vineyard 828 Clone Pinot Noir :chefkiss: My two young teens are used to being at wineries with us so they're pretty good about keeping themselves occupied on their own (even with out devices). But, I really appreciated that Season brought over some paper and a pack of markers for them since they both still like to draw. Plus, we had a couple of good sessions of tic tac toe while we sipped and took our time. We had a great experience here thanks to Season! Seeing that they're dog friendly, we'll bring our 4 legged family member next time.

The winery fit right in and we loved the small location with the view of the vineyards. We booked a reservation for the Root 101 Wine & Food Pairing Experience. I've had cheese and cracker experiences in wine tasting before, but this experience was a stand out with their perfectly curated arrangements of small bites that paired so well with the wines we were presented. Having the food pairing with the wines really felt like it brought out an elevated level of wine tasting because most wine is enjoyed with food when you take it home. The team really worked hard to make sure this tasting was unique and we found each bite to hold its own experience. I've been to Walt Wines in Napa but this location was worth the drive and the experience! Peter hosted us and was very knowledgeable about the wines and the food - having a passion for both. We were very grateful to be paired with Peter for our tasting, he made it a great experience! I would highly recommend taking advantage of the food pairing experience as it helps the wines stand out and just offers something different to a typical wine tasting.

Today we just did a regular tasting which included the newest version of their Love wine. A passion project for them with 100% of the wine cost going to benefit up and coming female artists. Another fun thing to note is each year they grant an artist the privilege of designing the label for the Love bottle. We started with the Love wine and then moved onto the Rosé, we thought both of these were excellent and ended up ordering a case of them so we can enjoy them yet again!
