Brilliant neighborhood comedy club. While I have not been often, I look forward to more outings and many laughs.

We made reservations for the show Nut-Cracking with dinner reservations. They originally sat us in a place that had no table. We looked at the person who sat us and asked "how are we supposed to eat here?" after 5 minutes he came back and sat us near a table. We were at least near a table, but still expected to eat off of our laps. I WOULD NOT recommend trying to eat dinner here. You will most likely be expected to eat off your lap. We chose not to eat here afterall. Truly disappointed. read more

Everything is Terrible show was awful waste of time. No stand up. They popped in a horribly edited one hour DVD of old comedy clips.

I recently visited the UP Comedy Club in Chicago to see Second City's "An Incomplete Guide to Everything." The experience as a whole was far beyond that of what I expected. The stage its self was very modern with seating for probably 250 people maybe more, however it wasn't crowded or uncomfortably packed full of people. We made sure to arrive early because they do not do assigned seating but rather first come first serve seating. This does provide a problem if you can't arrive more than 20 minutes before the start of the show because you may be at the back but we arrived 25 minutes before the show and had plenty of fantastic seats to chose from. When I first arrived I was greeted by a very friendly staff member that directed me to the correct floor and stage. Once at the entrance to the stage you go to the hostess and tell her how many people are in your party and she will find you seats that fit you parties desires the best. I requested to be near the front and by a table and they easily arranged that for me. Once seated I was seated a server came up to me with a smile on his face and gave me a menu and his name. While I personally didn't order any food or drinks from the menu some other people in my party did. The food was reasonably priced with the deserts being rather expensive, However that was nothing compared to the drink prices. They charged 12 dollars for a glass of wine that wasn't up to par too say the least, sure the poor was decent size but that doesn't make up for lack of quality. My sister ordered a Hot chocolate and said it was delicious and from my view it was very reasonable in size for the price. If you are the kind of person that drinks lots of water have no fear you can get free tap water throughout the entire experience. As for the Show its self "An Incomplete Guide to Everything" was supposed to be about everything that you learned in college - or should have learned in college on the days you slept in. However that was really not the way the show came off, rather it seemed to be a series of very well preformed skits that all managed to come back together at the end to tell you that friendship is important. Do be warned that this show is defiantly deserving of an R rating for content but never the less still fantastic. The performing of the skirts was done with the up most professionalism. Since the Second City group prides its self on improv comedy you expect the improv to be great and it certainly was. Only once did it seem like any lines were forgotten but the show just kept moving along like nothing happened. So if you every want to see a show while in Chicago I highly recommend seeing a Show at the UP Comedy Club. read more

Great show and awesome venue. I really enjoyed the improv and audience participation. However the only downsides are the seats. We did a premium add on and ended up in the very middle with no table so had to try and steal a little bit of the table behind us to sit our drinks down. Also being in the center all foot traffic went past us so was a little annoying. Drinks are good and strong. I tasted more of the booze than mixer which can be good or bad to some. Loved the show tho and the host was awesome despite so rather annoying people in the crowd. Thanks again! read more

I've been to many Second City shows (as well as other Chicago comedy shops) over the years, and was unfortunately really disappointed in this one. The show is "Holidazed and Confused" at UP Comedy. Don't confuse this cast with those performing on the main stage - I didn't see that show - the website is a little confusing in that regard. The cast at Up Comedy didn't seem to have any chemistry with each other or the audience, and if there was a script it was weak at best. We sat about 5 rows back, right of the stage and found that the actors were directing much of the dialog toward the opposite side, making it really difficult to hear. At one point signs were held up as part of an act, but we couldn't see them. We've seen Scott Nelson before and know he can be really good, but would not recommend this show to anyone. It was really disheartening because I bought 8 tickets as gifts. On the upside, desserts, drinks and service was great. read more

My wife and I went to Up to see One Nation Under 1% this past Friday. It was hilarious. Seating was efficient. Go to a HotTix booth to get discount tickets. We had half-price, general admission tickets, got there early and stood in line for a little while, were seated at the foot of the stage, and saw a great show while sipping daiquiris. Can't say enough about the improv cast. I really admire their skills. read more

4 out of 5 stars because 4 out of the 5 comedians were funny. Went for an all Improv Show, but guessing the Improv and Sketch comedies would have been funnier. All in all great show, semi reasonable priced drinks. Seating was a little cramped but other than a great time read more

A really great comedy club in the city that delivers an excellent venue, attentive wait staff and an overall good vibe. I have seen a couple shows here and all of my experiences have been nothing short of positive. The best part is, there is no drink/item minimum like almost all other clubs have. If you are just looking to see a show, no problem. If you do want to eat dinner, you can call them ahead and reserve a booth. Easily my favorite comedy spot in the city. read more

Love love love 2nd city (UP, etc and the main stage) and the shows are fantastic. We've been going every year for the last 12 years and have always had an amazing time!! Would've given it 4+ stars but the woman at the door that seats you was very rude and off putting :( otherwise it's a hoot!! Try not to get seated by the piano/speaker as its hard to hear the performers. read more

We went last night to UP and had a great time. We spent $10 more and got the rail seats. It was money well spent. We bought the 20 ounce drink so that we could keep the glass. George was our waiter and kept our drinks full. The show was HILARIOUS! It was a highlight of our trip!! read more

Had an amazing time at Up Comedy Club tonight seeing The Second City's Fast, Loud and Funny. The staff was extremely friendly and did a great job guiding us throughout the building right to our seats. It was definitely more of a younger crowd. The comedians were fabulous and had great chemistry together. My boyfriend had tears streaming down his face because he was laughing so hard. I will definitely be returning here in the future and would highly recommend this show to friends. read more

Was a little worried when we walked in and the comics were talking about what kind of performance it would be (not a fan of musicals) but was pleasantly surprised! this place was very fun and the wait staff was also great. Wish the show was longer! read more

This place is great for comedy! They are affordable and there's not a bad seat in the house. The drinks were okay but I wasn't too impressed with the food. My husband enjoyed his bacon burger but my veggie burger was just okay. I think we will be back for a show but might skip dinner next time. read more

Terrific place, and adjoined to the legendary Second City comedy club. This place had the Sklar Brothers when I came, who turned out to be hilarious! The food and drinks are filling, but only OK in quality. You don't have to have dinner there, but if you do, you get a closer seat! Very hip and funny club with some blue-chip talent to boot. I'd really recommend coming here and the Second City if you're visiting the area. read more

My girlfriend's sisters were in town and Up/Second City has been our list for a while, so it was a perfect opportunity to finally check it out. We got tickets for a Sunday afternoon "Fast, Loud and Funny" show. We are all big comedy fans and have gone to see a lot of stand up, but haven't been to many troupe/ensemble shows.. and we can easily say that we're big fans now. Can't say enough good things about the whole experience, we laughed hysterically pretty much from start to finish. Tons of talent up on that stage and the dynamic of the performers really worked, especially during the improv and crowd participation bits. As other reviewers have noted, the name of the show does say it all. Service was also excellent, our server checked on us just frequently enough that we were never thirsty. We had perfect seats, dead center about 6 rows back and with a small table in front of us for our drinks. It is definitely a little "intimate", as in the seating is close to your neighbors, but that's never bothered us in that environment.. something to be aware of however, if you're the stuffy type. Overall, a really great time at this club.. highly recommended if you're into laughing til it hurts. read more

Great time caught a improv show that was hilarious! If you need laughter in your life take advantage of this place great atmosphere great people, staff is very courteous. Drinks were not on the tasty side really bland, but my laughing kept me buzzed! We were in a group of five and everyone said it was a great time. Next time we are going to check out a headliner so we will keep our eyes open for a big show! Also I am pretty sure it's Second City affiliated and I love what comes out of that place! read more

This is a fun improv comedy club. To be honest, it was hyped up to be more than it was. I don't want to say it wasn't funny, because it was, just not as funny as I expected. Now being a club that changes routines every show, someone else's review may be different. The drinks looked amazing on the menu, then we ordered them and they were not good. The staff were fun and attentive. It was fun, but I don't see a return visit in my future. read more

Up Comedy Club is a fun atmosphere. Fun for comedy fans especially. Great improv shows and I love seeing stand up shows here. Only thing I am very dissatisfied with is their guest service. I asked once for a certain show if seats can be reserved and the man on the phone just said if you have a ticket you have a seat. Really? Cannot get a better and more appreciative response? It is not like everyone goes to comedy clubs. Just very rude. But overall a fun place. I will not be making phone calls to call for ticket orders. Just do it online. read more

Ok I love comdey clubs. From the on set I seemed very nice. We were seated didnt like our seats so we were told we could sit anywhere in another section we sat placed our orders, well this was a Charlie Murphy sold out show so we were asked to move no big deal we all make mistakes. Big deal was when they guy that brought us our food snatched it back saying it is not completmenty and can we afford it because we moved, then proceded to ignore us the rest of the night. Good thing the comics were funny because Mcdonalds gives better servicxe than that. read more

Nice venue. Wish the mainstage was housed there. Show was good but not up to the quality of the other two Chicago venues.

I took a date to #dateme. The show is fantastic, very funny, and if you happen to be on okcupid, yeah some of the jokes might hit a bit close to home. But still, very funny and nothing to cruel. The venue it self is a bit claustrophobic, I wouldn't suggest ordering food there. The tables are microscopic and there is no guarantee you will get one. read more

Saw the Monday Night Late Show on Aug 1. It was an absolute riot. I highly recommend. Get there well before 9:30 to get in line before doors open. read more
