Up-Down is one of my favorite spots in East Nashville for a unique date night or casual hang with friends. I recently brought a friend from out of town, and we had such a great time. You pay for tokens (not expensive) and get to choose from 80+ nostalgic arcade games like Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Galaga...all the classics. They also have Mario Kart on Nintendo 64 (no tokens needed!), plus skee-ball, basketball hoops, pinball, and more. The staff makes Up-Down even better. Everyone greeted us with smiles, and the bar staff and bouncer went above and beyond to help me track down my lost phone (thanks again!!). There are two levels (each with its own bar), and the upstairs, dog-friendly patio has cabanas with fireplaces. It's also in the perfect spot for hopping to other great bars nearby. This place is 10/10: cheap beer, fun games, and an all-around solid night out!

I like that this place sells pizza by the slice. The slices are sizable and can fill up most people with 1 slice. The restaurant itself is also an arcade. Lots of arcades available to play. You have to pay for tokens in order to engage in the games. It's a great place to go as a group or for a date. I highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly wine (or beer?). It tastes very good and went well with my pepperoni pizza.

Mood: Adult only funnnnnn! I've always driven by this place and finally stopped on a Sunday! Best day ever. They have $30 deal with 80 tokens, 6 beers, and a fanny pack to keep. BEST DEAL EVER. The game choices are so nostalgic and blast from the past. We definitely like the fact you can use the tokens anytime and keep the fanny pack. The six beer deal was clutch too so includes seltzers and non alcoholic drinks. If you not a fan of the night life then go mid day Sundays where the music is on, games on tv, and no long waits for games.

Up-Down is a fun arcade bar in an excellent location for hopping around in East Nashville. Two levels, each with a bar, a nice rooftop patio that overlooks the Nashville skyline, and pizza by the slice, it's a fun place to kill some time or give in to some nostalgia and play old video games. They also host special events/holiday events.

The girl at the bar was not having a good day when we were there. She didn't even attempt to talk to us, just stared at us while we tried to figure out how the 10 cent token day worked. We hadn't ever been there before - we didn't know. Anyway, they have a lot of games to choose from and the 10 cent token night made it easy to play pretty much anything we wanted. It quickly got too warm inside even at night though with how hot and humid the day was and the amount of people inside. We had to leave early because of that. I'd come again now that I understand how it all works and will make sure to come on a cooler night.

We love going to up down. Unfortunately I always forget to bring my tokens and then I buy more. Needless to say, I have a million tokens to use. The first time I had their pizza I loved it. This time was not as good. Im not sure if it was undercooked or if it had jsut been sitting out for a while. The buffalo chicken one was better than the Mac n cheese one (which is usually my favorite). Regardless, We still love up down. Perfect balance of "party" and chill. amazing rooftop with great views of downtown.

Chill spot for a lowkey date night or for a group of friends. There are classic games like pac man, skee ball, etc. and many others! There is large Kenya and connect four on the rooftop, two bars and you're able to order pizza! Parking is a bit limited nearby but there is a paid lot and street parking. If you're looking for something different to show people when visiting Nashville this would be a good place to start!

One of my favorite little gems in Nashville. Perfect location for pregaming with some brews and pizza before attending a concert down the street. Especially on a Friday when you get $2 pizza slices until 8pm. The bar staff is truly amazing with each visit. The pizza is some of the best you'll find in town. The indoor space is jam packed with the right balance of games spread throughout. The outdoor deck with the picnic tables offers a respite from the indoor noise. Even though it also doubles as a smoking area. Since it runs parallel to the street sidewalk it adds to the people watching vibe.

This is a fun bar spot with old school games. Looks fun, but not a place for a sit down dinner.

Fun bar with lots of classic arcade games. Most of the games are just 1 token, so 10 bucks of tokens is all you need for a fun evening!

Ask the Community - Up-Down Nashville

    Is this kid friendly?

We went on a Wednesday night, and when arriving at 5pm they ID us at the door. So it might not be.

If I bring my dog do I have to keep him outside on the patio or can he come inside so I can play arcade games? He is very small and great at DDR.

An amazing experience overall! Perfect? Not quite - but worthy of 5 stars anyway…read more The good/great: The games! Holy cow! Most of the video games are free to play during your stay. It's awesome. There's a huge selection of all the old classics (Joust, Dig Dug, Pac Man, all the Donkey Kongs, Paperboy - you name it!). Even if you play them all just once, you'll kill a lot of time. Some of the higher end games cost a token or two - that's fine by me, I get it. All the pinball games require tokens - also fine, as the tokens are fairly priced. I LOVE pinball, so I made the rounds playing all my favorites (notably Fishtails, Funhouse, and the KISS pinballs). I felt like a kid in a candy store on a shopping spree! The not so great: We ordered food and it was kinda "meh". The fried food looked and tasted like it was cooked in old, expired oil. Gross. The chicken tenders were overcooked. I hope this was a one-off. The people working there were super friendly and helpful. It's kind of located in a strange part of town, but don't let that stop you from going! Try to get there when it opens so you can have the run of the floor for a while. It can get busy!

Classic video games like Pac-Man that kind of stuff. There are tons of pinball machines which you have to pay to play. Most of them are one token but there's one special one that's five tokens. One token=$1. There's also a bunch of outside patio games that you can play. We actually came because they were playing bingo, which is also free to play and it was really fun. Started at 7:00 and had actual prizes that you could win. We got a gift card for five dollars that you could use for food or drinks. The french fries at this arcade/bar. We're actually some of the best I've had in a long time you can tell they're definitely fresh cut and cooked when they order them. I had the chipotle burger, and it was really good and one of my party had the mushroom Swiss burger and loved it and we also got the nachos. It's a little bit more expensive than a casual sit down, but the atmosphere was fun. Wheelchair accessibility: everything was really open and there was a nice long steady ramp up to the front door. There was a zero rise entry and the bathroom was pretty good. The soap was a little bit high. There is no seating that is not barstool height in the front where the bingo was and so that would be difficult, but there is some seating on the patio that's accessible. The games are all old-school cabinet style games and so it would be a little bit high for someone in a traditional wheelchair.

They were received warmly by the audience. They were not paid ANY of the agreed-to compensation. The staff said it was because they were "short handed", but I don't believe they would accept that excuse if you went in there and ordered food and drinks and your wallet was a little "short".
