Smoked Turkey Leg, hot n fresh off the grill
    Erika F.

They've got a new truck/trailer, it's black and shiny! It goes to show that hard work, good service and yummy food pays off. It's bigger and better than the original. They were packed on a Saturday afternoon with at least 8 to 10 people standing in line to place an order and another 6 people waiting for their food. Those are all good signals for some decent eating. Even better was the girls' sport team selling baked goods and collecting change/money for their field trips and what not (1 time event). I had to splurge on a 50 cent upside down lemony cake thingy. It was durrrrn good for my mini dessert after my enormous and addicting smoked turkey leg. I could hear two customers asking people if they'd ever been to Up In Smoke before and how was the food? Everyone said the food was pretty good and they frequent the truck whenever available. Some suggestions I heard being thrown around were the ribs, turkey legs, bbq sandwich, bbq chicken and beans, but of course everyone was ordering everything. The food was being picked off the grill and served fresh, how much better can you get? The prices I spotted are as follows: Chicken leg quarter $4.75, Pit beef ham turkey $6.50, smoked turkey leg $7.75, half chicken $8.50, whole chicken $11.50, half slab ribs $15.50, whole slab ribs $23.00, beef turkey Italian sausage $4.75, potato salad and beans $3.50......This isn't everything on their mini menu but it is the main items. These prices should rock your world considering you didn't have to do any back breaking. Remember look for the billowing smoke not a big sign!

Minced pork, greens and baked beans.

Easy to find location at liberty and rolling road, fair pricing and good bbq. I had minced pork, greens and baked beans. The pork was great! Seasoned well, tender and just plain ole' good. Baked beans were tasty as well. I thought the greens were under-seasoned but after the addition of salt, pepper and a little hot sauce they were decent. I'll be back to this place.

Full rack of Baby backs and reg baked beans

Went here today. They open at 12:00, I got there at 11:50 and there were already five people ahead of me. I'm a fan of SLC ribs, but when talking to the cook he recommended today's Baby Backs. You have to trust the man cooking, so I bought a whole rack of ribs and a reg portion of baked beans. Came to $31.24 Ribs were cooked well. Not fall off the bone, because that's a sign of overcooked pork. These were done correctly and were very tender with a nice bite. They had a pink smoke ring, but only a hint of smoke in the meat. I was hoping for more, but no complaints. As for sauce, I had them add theirs to the ribs. They use Ken's sauce, but doctor it with vinegar and red pepper flakes. They also add the sauce after pulling from the smoker, so the sauce is watery and doesn't congeal to the ribs. After taking them home and trying a few, I wasn't the biggest fan and added my own. As for the beans, they were good, but pricey at $3.50 for a reg portion. There was a little bit of onion and a mild sweet and creaminess, perhaps brown sugar and maybe coconut milk? I enjoyed them. All-in-all the meal was a success. I smoke my own ribs at home regularly, but for the convenience of this place being so close to home, I'll be back and recommend them.

The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and far surpassed what I've had at Canopy Pit Beef in Ellicott City. It's a no-frills setup: cash only, picnic tables only, and no indoor seating, but the quick, friendly service more than makes up for it. I just wish they were closer... though maybe it's better that they're not. Highly recommend.

We arrived shortly before closing. Upon entering, the place is really small and the ambiance was filled with a smokey scent and can be a bit claustrophobic when filled to capacity. There is off street parking available on the lot behind the store. There were tables and benches in front of the store to sit and eat your food. NOTE: THIS IS A CASH ONLY BUSINESS. We were greeted by a pleasant man and placed our order behind clear plexiglass: a "super" (extra meat) pit beef, a pit turkey, and an order of fries. They also had pit ham, gravy and you could get the sandwich as a sub. We watched as they prepared the order through the plexiglass, cutting the meat on deli cutting machines and weighing each meat order. We asked if the fries were hot and were told they were "always" hot as we watched them take fries they were previously fried and "double fry" them for crispiness. They had a list of sauces available to add on the sandwich or on the side. We got the "tiger" sauce (horseradish and mayo) and bbq sauces on the side. Our order was ready in no time and the sandwiches: the pit beef sandwich was piled high with thin slices of well cooked although a bit dry (don't know if it was because it was the end of the day and we arrived close to closing), pit beef with a great smokey flavor. I added the bbq sauce (which was sweet and a bit vinegary, which I liked) on the meat and it added the perfect sweet balance to the savory smokiness of the meat. We wanted to try the tiger sauce (combo of mayo and horseradish) but were afraid as it seemed like this sauce was sitting out on the counter and with the mayo, we didn't want an upset stomach. The bun was fresh and I really enjoyed this sandwich. The pit turkey had thin slices (this meat seemed to be similar to the turkey you can get from the deli) on a fresh roll. The meat was not dry and this sandwich was good as well. The fries were best eaten as soon as we got them and they were hot, crispy, and fresh. All in all, we enjoyed our food and would come back again to grab a couple of sandwiches and try the gravy option.

Upon arrival there's some seats but it doesn't really feel like homey. It was spacious but didn't feels welcoming to make me want to stay and eat. I was alone and sometimes I like to stay and eat instead of take out. Nonetheless there was a small window to view some of what they have but it's manly just menu to go off from. I waited about 10m after I ordered my food which was pretty fast. Now for the food, the Turkey Wings were flavorful, not super juicy but it wasn't tough or dry either. The smothered was smothering for sure, thegravy was a bit lighter than I was expecting but nothing to cray. I ordered a side or Mac & Collards and the wings come on top of a bed of rice. Mac was cool & cheesy, collards were great too even without pork. I look forward to trying them again but I do wish the seating was more restaurant instead of hookah lounge.

My go-to is the BBQ mixed grill, which is an excellent value for the money. You get a little bit of everything for only $27 (as of this writing). The outside doesn't suggest much, but there is a decent amount of space inside. I ordered takeout, but there was a huge family that filled several tables. The folks at the counter seemed busy, but they got to me after a minute to get me my food. Food - despite the name, this is not what I would call a barbecue takeout place. It is a Pakistani restaurant that is meat-forward, but not exclusively meat dishes. We went for the Mixed BBQ, which had plenty of meat for at least two hungry people, but my wife and two of our children had plenty for dinner one night and lunch the next day. The kebab was nicely spiced ground meat and it was decent on its own but also nice with a spicy green sauce. The chicken tikka was solid. There were also some heavily spiced ground beef patties. Child #1 is vegetarian and got a Lahori Chana and a Palak Paneer. The Chana was pretty standard, nicely spiced chickpeas. The palak paneer was solid with a nice blend of warm spices, but I wouldn't call it spicy. We also tried out an order of Chicken Tikka Masala. It wasn't as bright or creamy as I've gotten at other Indian or Pakistani places. It was still tasty though. A variety of breads to mop it all up, and it was a solid meal.
