Being from Hawaii, this was both exciting and exhilarating to say the least. The lodge is about a 30-minute drive from where we were staying at the Obertal Inn. We purchased our tickets online ahead of time, which I highly recommend since rides can sell out. Upon arrival, everything was well organized with clear signage directing us where to go. Check-in was conveniently located in the same area as the gift shop and coffee stand. Since we didn't want to hold anything during the ride, we waited to shop until afterward. After checking in, we were instructed to meet our guide out front near the fire pit. Once she arrived (I wish I remembered her name!), she walked us over to our carriage. It ended up being our lucky day because we had the carriage entirely to ourselves, which made the experience feel even more magical and intimate. Throughout the ride, our guide shared background history of the area and pointed out wildlife we might spot along the way. Sitting bundled up in the cold, surrounded by peaceful winter scenery, was such a serene and unforgettable experience. Before heading back, we stopped for hot apple cider which was absolutely delicious and exactly what we needed in the freezing temperatures. We also had the chance to take photos with the horse, who was incredibly sweet and even let us pet him. Overall, this experience exceeded all expectations. If you ever find yourself in Leavenworth, I would 100% say this is a must-do. It's a beautiful, memorable way to take in the winter magic of the area.

She picked up the 4 of us, took us to the Reindeer Farm, waited for us and then took us to Safeway to pick up our pre-ordered groceries. She is very professional and personable and we enjoyed her great driving skills and local bits of information. Her prices are reasonable for the amount of time she spent with us. We will utilize her great services again next winter. :)

Our wine tour was canceled a few days prior due to an illness. We received Kristy's name and number from a friend at the front desk of our timeshare. I reached out to inquire about a wine tour in the surrounding areas. She DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We had an AMAZING time visiting the surrounding towns. The view at the wineries was gorgeous, we went to some local breweries and did some shopping at an old mill warehouse filled with local food, drinks and gifts. 10 out of 10, I would definitely recommend. I have had a few friends visit there since I went and I shared her contact! She customized our tour based on our interests! Kristy will be my first call on my next visit for sure!

The park is not selling fire wood this year (2020), so we had to find a nearby gas station after we arrived. They do have ice for $2/bag. The campsites themselves are a good size and we felt like we had plenty of distance from our neighbors. There were a good number of kids around making lots of noise, but the camp manager came around at night to make sure the buzz of the campground stayed at a low, consistent level. The facilities are fine and the shower is one big room and was plenty satisfactory. With covid, the playground is closed. In addition there is apparently toxic algae every year, so the beachfront is closed often, and it was on our visit. Finally, the wasps here are numerous. I was wearing flip flops and still got stung on the foot. I don't feel they were particularly aggressive, but they are everywhere. If you cook anything, you will be completely swarmed. Bring some traps to try and keep them away from your site.
