I came to pick up a package from the customer service center and was immediately greeted by Alex who was very kind and helpful. I don't think I've ever gotten such a warm and enthusiastic greeting walking into a business before. I didn't have my tracking number, but Alex searched for my package by my name and before going on the UPS trailer to get it, she let me know that's what she doing so I wouldn't be wondering where she went. I appreciated that. When she had me sign for my package, she joking asked for my autograph on the signing tablet. When your package absolutely needs to be there on time who do you trust? Well there are a few options in a competitive shipping market. UPS has been a great choice for my family. This review is for the service center. So there was a hiccup in a promised two business day ship, but it does not appear it was a UPS error. Rather Shop Runner did not deliver its promise. UPS had on an early truck to my home by 8 AM. Typical delivery to my neighborhood is after 5 PM. I did not know that UPS proactively had an every truck in these situations. So the day before I redirected the package to the Virginia Beach UPS hub over the phone by automated service. To double check I also spoke to a CSR live. That was a smooth call. Per the CSR I would get an additional email that package was ready which I did not. I picked up my package at the UPS Customer Service Center located by the Norfolk International Airport. Surface parking was no issue by the door. The lot and area clean. A woman named KK was there to greet me. The office is tiny, but adequate and clean. I only had to provide last name and she quickly found it. Be prepared to have tracking number and photo ID. KK was so helpful, friendly and a pleasure to meet. You could tell she loved her job. Recommend the service center over a truck delivery when you need to control the pick up. The center offers terrific hours opening by 8 AM and even Saturday. read more

What a great place to ship packages!! The location is in the office park west of Diamond Springs Road, north of Northampton Boulevard and near the airport. It had been several decades since I visited UPS's local distribution center. Then Customer Service was a large area filled with people shipping packages with really long lines. When I received a package delivery notice that required a signature, I knew the only answer was to pick it up at UPS. My immediate reaction was "Oh NO!!" It's the holiday season. This is going to be terrible. Imagine my surprise when I stepped inside the door. Customer Service was now one small room. There were two employees behind the counter doing absolutely nothing. I was the only one there. Who would have thought that the advent of franchise UPS Stores located all over town would have caused everyone to forgo UPS's own facility? Why pay the markup and overhead? I ordered a package that required a signature and haven't been home to sign for it so I just went online to change my delivery to pick up at the customer center. It's a warehouse but there's a sign on the left that says customer center, so I just parked at the lot in front. I came in, lady asked for my address and ID, she found my package, gave it to me and I walked out. It was a quick encounter and I fianlly got my package! Pleased customer right here. read more

I have NEVER had a problem with UPS or with the Customer Center which is THE MOST CONVENIENT place to take packages. I am there almost weekly and never have had to wait. I do not understand the negative reviews - how can one assign a low star rating for the hours? UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday so why would their main facility be open? This is not a franchised store. It is the UPS airport cargo facility. Literally where all packages are put on the trucks for delivery. If you are here between 8 and 9am you will see fleets or brown UPS trucks headed out to for deliveries. So. For a drop off location it is FABULOUS. Do not expect the bells and whistles of a retail storefront or extensive customer service. It is a facility offering a service efficient and quick service!!! read more

Ups has become impossible to deal with when anything goes even the slightest bit wrong specifically when dealing with time guaranteed deliveries. For one it has become impossible to get the distribution center or driver to contact you when a delivery is delayed and you need to give instructions for a hold or any change for that matter. The call center will get confused and make bad situations worse by complicating things without actually putting the customer and the actual delivery people together to solve the problem. Save yourself some money and don't use UPS for any time guaranteed delivery's, half of the time they miss the delivery time. If you need a dedicated delivery time, look elsewhere. If you need to communicate with them to ask them to do anything outside of normal speed, paid upgrade or otherwise, have fun with that. read more

This is their center for large package drop off and pick-up's. You can find it back in the industrial park of Diamond Springs Rd. Parking can be a little tight this time of year. Otherwise they have carts to move your heavy items to or from you vehicle and the staff is helpful. read more

On Air Rail Ave in VA Beach: There is not any customer parking close to the office where you need to drop off packages, so I pulled up and started unloading. Was harassed by a UPS employee who did not even offer to open the door when I was struggling with a 75 pound package, he kept telling me to move my car. UPS has become the worst customer service to deal with I got a email saying that my package was delivered at the front door and signed by me I checked my door 10 minutes after the package was supposedly delivered and there was nothing nor did I sign for anything nor did anyone ever knock on my door then I called the customer service center who said they would Get someone to contact the driver and someone would call me back within an hour after two hours no one called so I called back four times for someone to tell me the driver was gone for the day and no one could get in contact with him!!!! I'm so disgusted that my package was miss placed with $80 worth of things inside. Have not been able to pick up the same day of delivery when I missed the package delivery at my home on 2 separate occasions. Also they won't, or delay the delivery if there is any snow on the ground. I had called the UPS company and they instructed me that I could pick it up from the location, however once this location was contacted they stated "the package was not available", and that "I would have to just keep checking the website to see updates on delivery". All in all I payed UPS for 2 day delivery and cannot pick my package up until this particular office feels it's safe to drive in! Not to thrilled with the service commitment and "surely" is not the customer service from a UPS facility that you would expect. read more

I brought my 2 year old in with me to pick up a check that'd been delivered, and let me tell you the woman who helped me, whose name is KK, was INCREDIBLE!!! She talked with my son and shared a bit of her life with us all while expediting my request. We weren't there but a few minutes however I felt like I'd known her my whole life. Had a package sent to me from Texas. It was perishable. Person left a note on the door. I signed the note to leave the package. Unfortunately the driver doesn't understand that reading is fundamental and never turned the paper over to see my signature. After calling the UPS Center and spending 20 minutes on the phone with the rep who was apologetic and kind ( 5218464), I discovered it was in Virginia Beach closed for the day when it said that the truck was still out for the day and would be out tomorrow. Your customer service stinks at best between your drivers and delivering packages. There is no excuse for not checking the back of a slip. Attempted to deliver a signature required package while i was at work. Called the 1800 number and was told it would be delivered the next day. The next day i was off and it was a beautiful day so i sat outside the front of my house all day no attempt was made to deliver the package. Call the 1800 number and this facility and nobody had an answer about where the package was or why it wasn't delivered. WTF this is your whole job to deliver packages and you can't even do that. read more

Had a great shipping experience here. Even though they were short staffed, Ashley was able to help me ship 18 moving boxes across the country. She assisted me and the other customers simultaneously. I had several issues with packaging and she kindly helped. She also saved me $50 by asking if I had a AAA card. Ashley is amazing and made a seemingly stressful situation much more pleasant. UPS always gets my orders to me LATE! I recently paid for 2 day shipping for some electronics and received those items at the end of the third day. No holiday. No special events going on. No bad weather east of the Mississippi. It sat in PA for 27 hours. The day I was supposed to receive my items, they were not even in the same state. I chose this center for my review because my problem probably started there. On 10-30-15 I sent a large TV set to a friend in NY. It was delivered with a smashed screen and other extensive damage, and had obviously been badly mishandled. Even though I had ensured it, UPS denied my claim, and has not replied to my appeal. I have never received such amazing customer service! My package was left in the building and wouldn't get delivered until after my anniversary. Our regular UPS man, Dennis, took it upon himself to personally see what he could do for me. His supervisor volunteered to go out of his way to delivery me the package on the same day even though it wasn't convenient for him! He was so nice about it. I am so grateful to both of them!! UPS SERVICE SUCKS TODAY -I received a medium sized package on the 8th of this month. When I got home it was waiting inside for me. My wife said the driver walked up on the porch and left my package. She walked right up to the door just in time to see him drive away. She opened the door and noticed the package had been RIPPED OPEN! Now I don't know about you but why would a driver leave a ripped open package on someones porch in such a manner? I would think that if he received it that way there must be some kind of form that can be attached to it (like the USPS does) for the consumer indicating it was that way when they received it. If not then I can only assume the driver ripped it open. There were several layers of brown wrapping paper stuffed tightly inside and nothing was missing as I had only ordered a small knife. Maybe he got tired of looking and just threw it on the porch. Also, strange as it may seem there were 3 tootsie pops inside the box and I have no idea where those came from and I threw them away. Very Disappointed with the UPS Pick-Up and Delivery Option. I feel the same as Jay W. from Chesapeake, when you call immediately because you miss the 1st package delivery and want to make reasonable arrangement you do not get customer service, you only get lip service and a Constance replay of want they "Can't more honestly WON'T DO!" This company used to really care and work to service their clients, What happened? I was given the excuse that due to the heavy volume they cannot deliver the package to another location since I must sign for it however UPS is in Norfolk and delivers to my place of employment everyday. It makes more since to bring the package I need to sign for to the very location in which you will already deliver than to stop by a residence in which I clearly advised you before the truck even left that I will not be available at till late afternoon. Sad business practice. Now I will need race across town after work to try and get to the pickup location before they closed.
