I liked the quiet outdoor vibe! Loved the moon milk cocktail. Only thing I didn't like was that the cake was still frozen when served. When visiting back in May, there was only 1 Bar tender and while there weren't too many people, service was still slow. We were not in a rush and the bar tender was busy so we were not upset. The bar tender was super pleasant and apologetic, so no points off for service but they definitely need more help. Overall, I would visit again. read more

We originally found this place on instagram and OpenTable and made a reservation on OpenTable. I'm not sure why the reservation is even an option because there is no hostess and it is open seating. The drinks we got were great! There were many great drink options and they did not disappoint. Unfortunately, it was difficult to get service. When we did get someone to help us, we also ordered truffle fries. The fries were fine, but there was definitely no truffle flavor to them. In general, it was fine enough. This was a decent dinner experience. J. and I stopped by on a Friday evening in time for their happy hour. On arrival we were invited to sit wherever we liked. They have a bar setup with a few tables and chairs (plenty of people were working on their computers, coffee shop style). There's also a back room with couches. Our server soon greeted us and took our order. We decided on two of the red wines - J had a cab and I had a Chianti. We had a few bites beforehand, so we opted for one Man Pizza to share. All of our orders were good - we enjoyed the wines and the pizza was delicious! The main issue was just the timing - it took a long time for our pizza to come and I think our server may have initially forgotten the order. All's well that ends well, though, so it was a nice dining experience. Not this place being here over a decade. Why I thought it was new? Any way I came through here work a bday celebration. Um there's like no parking but they have complimentary valet and there is some street parking further down sunset. The venue is small but there are little intimate spaces all through. There's a small wine tasting room to the immediate left. Then a larger apparently new space that appeared unfinished with seats. They offer food and beverages and some cutesy drinks. They have mood lightening aka its kind of dark inside. Server was pretty attentive there weren't many people in there though. You also have to goto the bar to closeout despite them taking your order at the table. The outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant is cute and I like the lightening. Located just right outside of Rice Village, it's a great spot for friends, dates and they now even have a large party room. Indoor and outdoor seating. Fire pits when it's cold. At the time of this review, they have a happy hour just about every day, so check their website for specials. They also have signature drinks. There's a kitchen with several bites to choose from. The service is friendly, and the ambiance has low light, which is great. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Valet is available, though street parking isn't difficult if you prefer that. It's a genuinely good location for a date if you want to chat without a lot of noise. ​Recently, they started having salsa dancing on Sunday afternoons, which I think runs from 6 to 11. The bar staff may allegedly inflate your bill, attribute another patron's tab to your account, and claim that you did not settle your bill. Furthermore, there have been reports of unauthorized credit card transactions, with one individual claiming a $400 charge the day after their visit. A group of friends visited Simone's for happy hour, arriving separately and opening individual tabs. They settled their respective bills, but one patron never received their credit card back after providing it to open a tab. Despite having a receipt for their order, the credit card was not returned. The following morning, the patron discovered a $400 charge on their account. They immediately recalled that the staff at Simone's had not returned their credit card. Moreover, the staff allegedly claimed that the group had walked out without paying for their meals, despite charging everything to another patron's credit card. The group possesses bank statements showing that Simone's deducted money from all our accounts By authorization, a payment was made to Simone's on Sunset from sll of our bank accounts. YOU WILL find the paid statements below. Upon calling Simone's, they declined to discuss the matter, stating that our party had left without paying our tab. Nice cozy bar/restaurant with an intimate atmosphere. Think sofas and coffee tables. So it's a great place to have a cocktail and read a book, or to come with some friends and have an intimate conversation. I got the Elena's Gin and Tonic, which I sadly had to send back. The Rosemary smoke that they add completely overpowers the drink. Not only does the smell linger, but the whole drink just tasted like smoke. The cocktail tasted much better after it was remade without the smoke element. I also got a mango mojito. The mojito was solid, would definitely suggest that one! For food, we got quite an assortment of food to share amongst the group. The standout items were the pizzas and the truffle fries. read more

The parking was a headache and left a lot of uncertainty, I just ended up parking on the driveway of the property which the bartender allowed. But beware, of parking around here. Its an issue that needs to be dealt with first before stepping in. The lounge/bar itself is towards the back of the building and NOT the welcoming front entrance where the door is locked. How akward. Once inside, you'll it'll feel right. Since I landed during Happy Hour, I elected to get the house red and white with their truffle parmesan popcorn. I thought the popcorn was going to be a smaller serving, but it came out in a big bowl reminiscent of a bucket! Love it. I'll have to bring the wife here one day. Although the servers were kind, the wait to get a drink was incredibly long. I mean, 20 minutes standing at the bar long, then another 5-10 for it to be brought to our table. It's a beautiful place but they should maybe consider hiring additional help or a different method of ordering drinks/food instead of a long line of people consistently skipping one another at the bar. You can park on the street, heard rumors of a valet service as well. We ordered a burger because the menu is quite small, overpriced and nothing looked particularly enticing. The burger was great! The pizza which was about $16 tasted like the frozen pizza you get from the grocery store. You are better off going to Pizza Hut than getting pizza from here. The "truffle" fries tasted very basic. It was regular fries with very little cheese sprinkled on top. If you want real truffle fries, I'd suggest heading to hoppdoddy, where the taste and quality of the fries are WAYYY better than these. They only had ketchup and chutney that goes with the samosas. They did not have any other sauces. Also, the drink I ordered looked beautiful, however, they burned something in it to make it smoke, which left particles of ash and dust inside the drink. It also tasted burnt and ashy which kind of ruined the drink. I've had many flaming and smoked drinks, but this was just HORRIBLE. My friends tried it as well and none of us could finish it because of how excessively smoky it was. I came his for a birthday happy hour and they didn't even do anything special for the birthday girl, when we asked. Overall, it was a bit pricey for the quality of food you are getting. I'm always willing to pay for good food, but this just wasn't it. We will not be coming back, especially when there are so many better options at rice village nearby. The parking situation is also a bit of a hassle because there is only valet or else you have to park way down the street and walk. Cute little wine bar that we almost missed it blends right in. I enjoyed the food and the bartenders were very helpful and welcoming. I will say their parking isn't very good unless you want to valet, we went on a non-busy Sunday and could hardly find anything so I can't image a busy day. The shrimps and grits were my favorite, the sauce was so flavorful and a pretty decent serving size for one person. Would NOT recommend!!! Went with some girlfriends (5 of us) last Thursday and we sat at the bar. We each opened our own tabs. When it was only 2 of us left, we were told 2 others didn't pay. I called the friend who said she did pay but would come back to settle. I waited, but ended up leaving and left my friends number. Next day the friend who 'didn't pay' had her charge show up on her bank statement. THEN, I saw I was charged not only for my steak and two wines but $120 in additional food (that was the friends charge that actually had paid) PLUS a large party fee of $34. Called the owner/manager and my bank....in the end the owner/manager was very rude to me and all my friends who called to state we all paid and showed the receipts and told me I had agreed to pay for those who didn't pay (which i didn't)....but we all paid our own tabs. So for a steak and two wines I paid $225 and although there was my signature (as i asked for a copy of the receipt) I know I would have questioned such a large bill for $60 worth of food. Overall I enjoyed my cocktail and my friend and I both agreed the drinks are strong. I would come back for drinks but not food. I think the food is way overpriced. J only tried the basil martini but it was delicious!! It was not too sweet and very strong, just how I like it :) my friend said the splish splash was very sweet and strong, just how she likes it! As for the food... We only got the spinach artichoke dip and margherita pizza. Not to be that person but the margherita was really more like a cheese pizza, but it was served hot and fresh and delicious nonetheless. Granted, I was also starving. This used to be such a quaint wine bar. What a shame, but thankfully Houston is full of wine bars. I noticed the vibe had changed, the servers are not particularly friendly nor knowledgeable about wine. Quite counterintuitive for a wine bar. Fast forward to a recent experience while attending a hosted bday party at Simone's. . One, our overwhelmed server didn't know anything about the wine on the menu. She kept asking another very unfriendly server who swore to me that none of their wines are sweet - told me the Prosecco was not, although Prosecco is traditionally sweet. Then, seemed annoyed that I confirmed it was sweet. Whatever. Opted for cocktails, which were actually quite good. The overwhelmed waitress took our order, took our card and said she'd be right back with our card. An hour later, our drinks arrived, but no card. We didn't think anything of it, but when we went to close out, we asked for our card back. She didn't have it, she swore she gave it to my wife, but she didn't. The other waiter swore he gave our card to the party host - why would he do that in the first place? But, the party host didn't have it either. Then, asking for our card back really seemed to irk the staff, which is an interesting way to treat patrons. We even asked people at the party to make sure they had the right cards. On our way home, we cancelled the card, confirmed our last purchase at Simone's and moved on with our lives. I decided to check my account a few days later, to find that another charge went through after we left. Meaning, someone in the bar had the card but probably didnt even realize they had the wrong one. My issue here is how the incident was handled. First, gaslighting us and the party host into thinking the card was returned. The not-bothered, but also don't-bother-us attitude we got from your staff. AND, the fact that the card was still in circulation after they knew a card was missing! Lastly, I emailed the bar manager, Eddie, over 2 weeks ago, who has yet to acknowledge that the incident was not handled correctly, even if that means protocol for checking cards when they are handed back to the customers. Where to begin....This was the hands down the single worst dining experience I've had in my life. It started a week before the actual reservation. This establishment made it almost impossible to "confirm" my reservation with several phone calls and open table messages demanding a credit card number. I would call to give my card and no one would be available to write it down... Anyways, the real tragedy was the valentines dinner. We walked in with no one to greet us and after walking around aimlessly for 10 minutes looking for restaurant staff we finally were seated. After being seated, the waitress was unaware if they had a wine list.... the hostess walked away from us mid conversation because she was so flustered and not a table in sight had been helped. We waited 52 minutes without even a water brought to our table so we had to leave and try to salvage our date night elsewhere. We tipped our waitress as we knew she was overwhelmed but I cannot speak more poorly about the management of this establishment. I've never witnessed worse management in my life. I'm truly shocked this place remains open. The staff is poorly trained and this establishment should not last in such a prime real estate location. read more

Firstly, parking was a bit confusing. I guess I got there before the valet attendant was there, even though the sign was out. When I called, they said just leave my car in the front and someone would come and get it. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I waited. The good thing is I only had to wait maybe 4 to 5 more minutes before he arrived however, while waiting, I saw a few people drive around and then park in the parking lot down the street and walk up the bad part was this was all happening during the rain. The location for me is subpar, it received the hype last fall via social media but this restaurant has been in the Houston food scene for some time. As for location, I think that is how it has stayed afloat for years. I would not say it is the best wine bar I have been to, it's alright. I would not indulge in the food too much, they could barely make a passable coffee drink. The location and atmosphere is fabulous, but that cannot be justified when the wait staff and bartenders on duty can barely make an edible plate of food or coffee that is drinkable. I had to send my coffee back since they could not ask me if I wanted it hot or iced, and I prefer hot. As for the "wings", I took a bite and that was that. I will say their cheesy appetizers merit it enough justice to return but I would be wayward of making it a regular appearance due to the nature of the food and service. Parking is also TERRIBLE and I dined in on a night when it was quite slow. I would think twice and look for another spot before making reservations here, you can find better. read more
