    SIMONE BURGER

Simone is such a cute and intimate space for date night. Came with one of my girlfriends to catch up and we had a good time. I had the Simone burger and she had the margherita pizza. Both were delicious! We shared the truffle fries and those were good as well. For cocktails we had Simone's Sangria! Definitely worth trying! I want to come back and check out their speakeasy. At the time, bachata classes were being offered and we definitely were not prepared for that!

It's been many years since my last visit here, it's even cuter than I remembered. They also have a cozy seating area in the back that I didn't remember. It's such a cute place, definitely recommend going here :-) you can reserve the back area for a private party.

This was a decent dinner experience. J. and I stopped by on a Friday evening in time for their happy hour. On arrival we were invited to sit wherever we liked. They have a bar setup with a few tables and chairs (plenty of people were working on their computers, coffee shop style). There's also a back room with couches. Our server soon greeted us and took our order. We decided on two of the red wines - J had a cab and I had a Chianti. We had a few bites beforehand, so we opted for one Man Pizza to share. All of our orders were good - we enjoyed the wines and the pizza was delicious! The main issue was just the timing - it took a long time for our pizza to come and I think our server may have initially forgotten the order. All's well that ends well, though, so it was a nice dining experience. I would consider coming back, but keeping in mind that they are on the pricier side of other similar restaurants in the area.

Not this place being here over a decade. Why I thought it was new? Any way I came through here work a bday celebration. Um there's like no parking but they have complimentary valet and there is some street parking further down sunset. The venue is small but there are little intimate spaces all through. There's a small wine tasting room to the immediate left. Then a larger apparently new space that appeared unfinished with seats. They offer food and beverages and some cutesy drinks. They have mood lightening aka its kind of dark inside. Server was pretty attentive there weren't many people in there though. You also have to goto the bar to closeout despite them taking your order at the table. The outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant is cute and I like the lightening. This is an interesting bar in the rice village area to check out.

Chic little boutique style wine bar. Wide selection of wines and interesting cocktails. Food is limited to pizza and small bites but as long as you're not going there for a "nice" meal you're good. They do have specials like steak night. Best of all is the cool ambience.

PLEASE READ B4 PAYING YOUR TAB!! When visiting this establishment, it is advisable to pay with cash and avoid providing your credit card to prevent potential discrepancies. The bar staff may allegedly inflate your bill, attribute another patron's tab to your account, and claim that you did not settle your bill. Furthermore, there have been reports of unauthorized credit card transactions, with one individual claiming a $400 charge the day after their visit. A group of friends visited Simone's for happy hour, arriving separately and opening individual tabs. They settled their respective bills, but one patron never received their credit card back after providing it to open a tab. Despite having a receipt for their order, the credit card was not returned. The following morning, the patron discovered a $400 charge on their account. They immediately recalled that the staff at Simone's had not returned their credit card. Moreover, the staff allegedly claimed that the group had walked out without paying for their meals, despite charging everything to another patron's credit card. The group possesses bank statements showing that Simone's deducted money from all our accounts By authorization, a payment was made to Simone's on Sunset from sll of our bank accounts. YOU WILL find the paid statements below. Upon calling Simone's, they declined to discuss the matter, stating that our party had left without paying our tab. We would like clarification as we sat at the bar, and it is unclear how six African-American females could have exited without paying. Could you please provide a clear explanation? AND MAKE IT PLAIN!!???

I celebrated my friend's 21st here, and it was a great experience! The drinks were delicious (a bit pricey), and the Rockefeller oysters with pesto sauce were amazing--highly recommend them. The service was excellent--they even brought us desserts to try, including lemon, chocolate cake, and pistachio cake, which were all fantastic. The karaoke room made it even more fun. Great spot!

I was so excited to finally try this place, but boy, it was a huge let down. Giving this place 2 stars just for the ambience. The food was not great at all. The pizza which was about $16 tasted like the frozen pizza you get from the grocery store. You are better off going to Pizza Hut than getting pizza from here. The "truffle" fries tasted very basic. It was regular fries with very little cheese sprinkled on top. If you want real truffle fries, I'd suggest heading to hoppdoddy, where the taste and quality of the fries are WAYYY better than these. They only had ketchup and chutney that goes with the samosas. They did not have any other sauces. Also, the drink I ordered looked beautiful, however, they burned something in it to make it smoke, which left particles of ash and dust inside the drink. It also tasted burnt and ashy which kind of ruined the drink. I've had many flaming and smoked drinks, but this was just HORRIBLE. My friends tried it as well and none of us could finish it because of how excessively smoky it was. I came his for a birthday happy hour and they didn't even do anything special for the birthday girl, when we asked. Overall, it was a bit pricey for the quality of food you are getting. I'm always willing to pay for good food, but this just wasn't it. We will not be coming back, especially when there are so many better options at rice village nearby. The parking situation is also a bit of a hassle because there is only valet or else you have to park way down the street and walk. They have about 4 spots in the front the restaurant, which they also make you valet for. Not everyone wants to valet, so it would be nice to have an option to park somewhere nearby.

I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I asked for something tropical and not too sweet. It was pretty good but not as complex as the catch 22. My husband liked the jaded merchant better than the dew drop. He also was sipping far too much of my mocktail which speaks volumes about how good it was. Love the moody vibes, drinks, and service. So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot.
