We are not from Nebraska and were here to visit family. Someone recommended this place for dinner. It had something for everyone especially my picky daughter. We were seated after a ten minute wait. Our shuttle driver from the hotel had given us coupons to try a beer or root beer. Most of us had the root beer although my in laws tried their beer option. They liked their beer but I can't speak for it since I didn't try it. The root beer was unique. It had an herbal flavor and it wasn't sweet at all, quite pleasant and refreshing. I had the tuna that was cooked perfectly. The bed of rice and vegetables were seasoned well. My mother-in-law had the fish and chips. The fish was good but the fries were a little soggy and limp. My father-in-law law had the jambalaya. He enjoyed it. My son had the beef stroganoff which was tasty. My husband had the pot roast which he liked. My daughter had mac and cheese which made her happy. For dessert we shared a caramel bread pudding. It wasn't too sweet but probably needed more caramel. It was still good. The waiter who I think said his name is Josh was very good. He was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The service was great, the restaurant was cute. If you look up on the ceiling, there are playing cards stuck up there. Apparently, they have a show with a magician on certain days. This place was pretty cool. I really liked the look and the feel inside and we wound up going to the rooftop to enjoy some Apps and drinks. I like the option to get the Beer flight since they had 4 different IPAs and I wanted to try them all. I got the hot wings which weren't my favorite but they were still alright. The other people in my party tried the Bavarian Pretzel Bites and the Pretzel Encrusted Fried Cheese Curds which were both pretty good. Didn't eat but I had a beer. First I got the Malt-Balanced "suggested flight". All 4 were ok but the Afterglow White Stout was REALLY good. The atmosphere is exceptional. Located in an old warehouse building, it's spacious yet cozy. The bartender was very nice and helpful with recommendations. And amazingly, they have a full liquor bar and kitchen. I haven't tried their food, so this review is based solely on my experiences with their beer flights. A couple of years ago, my boyfriend and I came to Omaha to celebrate his 28th birthday and we came here and tried their 2oz flight of all 12 of their beers. It was a busy weekend in April so the place was pretty packed and loud. This past weekend, we returned to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was a much more chill atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon in January. We each had a flight of 4 (4oz pours) for $6 each. We sat at the bar downstairs and had prompt, attentive service from the bartender. I've been here many times and figured it's probably about time to write a review. I have never had a bad experience here. Sometimes the service is a little less than stellar but it's never horrible. The food is always fantastic! I get a cup or bowl of the Beer Cheese soup every. single. time and often order the Pickle Chips or Pretzel Bites as an app as well. Living in Omaha, I have been to the Upstream Brewing Company many times. However, it is been quite sometime since I've been there and figured it was about time I should review it! Today I went for a business dinner at 5 o'clock. They were having happy hour, however, you had to be sitting at the bar to get it. While I totally understand this rule, I wish that it wasn't this way considering the Upstream is so busy that a lot of times you can't sit at the bar in the first place. Our server, Joshua, stated that he had only been there for a week. This is pretty surprising considering his knowledge on the food and how well he did with us. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner and he was very patient with us considering that he knew we were going to sit there for a while. Based on my boss' recommendation, we had the artichoke and asiago spinach dip to start. It was amazing! Being kind of an artichoke and spinach dip snob, I had my doubts. My doubts were definitely laid to rest after trying the huge toasted bread points with this creamy goodness! My boss had the falafel pita what she said was really good. I had the chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun. The chicken sandwich was good, but, I wouldn't say it was an amazing. I really liked the balsamic glaze on it, however, I don't think that is something I would order again. It just seemed a little bland even with all of the toppings. This place has a soft spot in my heart because we had our rehearsal dinner here, but sometimes the food is hit and miss. We stopped in Saturday afternoon for some apps and cold drinks on the patio - finally some spring weather to enjoy! Plus the Old Market never disappoints for people watching. There was a small hiccup when we first got seated about whether it was open seating our not but our server made up for it by being awesome. Drinks were really good. We tried a seasonal - Space Monkey Biermosa. It was exactly what I had hoped, like a refreshing combo of beer and OJ. My husband had a wheat beer which was also good. We tried the pretzel bites and gouda mustard sauce and the fried pickles. The pretzel bites were pretty standard. (Nothing beats the ones at The Walnut.) The sports bars nearby were packed and my 77 year old mother didn't want the crowd to watch the Chiefs. We took a chance they'd have a TV with the game on and they did. They confirmed reservation with us via email for 6:30 tonight. We got dressed up and walked from the Hyatt Place to M's. We arrived at 6:15PM only to find the doors locked and the chairs up on the table. Found out that they decided to close today and did not contact us. Donelle was heartbroken. One of her wishes for her 50th was to eat at M's. She wanted to share it with our son. She was seriously excited about this celebratory meal. M's incompetence and disregard for it's clientele really brought her down. The hostess/floor manager at Upstream and our Server Rich fixed that. They ensured that we received a table as quickly as possible despite a 60 minute walk in wait. The Boy's Mac and Cheese with smoked ham and blackened chicken provided two meals, my Tuscan Shrimp Pasta had just the right doneness on the pasta and the shrimp and the sauce was to die for. The wife loved her Filet. Done to perfection with a great sauce providing nice burnt notes and acidity. Amazing service, great food, a tasty cocktail & a free desert brought a smile to her face. Having been in the industry a long time, I appreciate when my server automatically brings me water. Our server did just that. She explained the beer menu and we ordered one. When we went to order, the server realized she gave us the lunch menu when she should have given us the dinner menu. There is very limited parking in Old Market, so that's a bit of a bummer, but no reflection on the food or beer here. I had the pork schnitzel at Upstream brewery. The portion size is huge. You get 2 large pork tenderloins on top of mashed potatoes and enough vegetables to serve 2 people, maybe even 3. While I was happy for the variety in vegetables, personally it was a bit much and the vegetables were hard.The mashed potatoes however were excellent. They tasted like they had cheese or something in it. It was creamy and well seasoned. The pork tenderloins themselves were tender but could probably do with more seasoning. The service was excellent. I was served within 15mins of sitting down and my waiter was very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was nice- casual, open restaurant. Everyone was very polite. read more

We went to Upstream Brewing a month ago while we were in Omaha visiting the zoo. And I am so glad we did! Patrick, our server, was fantastic! He was friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious. Good spot. My fiancé and I were visiting from out of state and saw that this brewery was rated top 5 in the city. Since it was close to our hotel, we decided to walk down and see what was up. Overall atmosphere was pretty good. It is a massive space, even with Covid regulations it would have no issue accommodating large groups. My fiancé is not a beer drinker, but she got a margarita that she loved. I got the flight of 12, and this is where they lose a star. I understand that as a brewery you only brew so much, but it is a bit of a pain to have to sub 2 beers because they are out of stock. It was not a huge deal because I just got some soft housemade root beer- which was awesome. My fiancé got the Mac n cheese with chicken added and she loved it. I got the Rueben which was good; just a normal Rueben. We also got the Poutine which was amazing! It was my fiancé's first time having it. The beers overall were very good. I highly recommend the key lime radler if you want something with lower ABV (3.8%). If you like sour beers, you'll love this one. A higher ABV beer I really enjoyed was the Dundee Scotch Ale (6.6%). Dark, yet extremely smooth. Devine. Also reasonably priced. The flight of 12 beers was only 15 dollars, which is a steal. Good place for dinner in Omaha. This restaurant is big, with multiple levels and a lot of seating. It's great for groups. They have long and round tables. 3 stars - Blonde pizza with mushrooms. Alfredo white sauce, cheese, sliced tomatoes, chopped basil, and I opted for mushrooms instead of the chicken. The crust was a cracker like crust that I really liked! The white sauce was a little runny, and the toppings were sliding off the pizza as I ate it. It could have used more cheese too. I enjoy craft beer and the Upstream Brewing Company does a solid job in brewing up some tasty offerings from its on-site brewery. The Upstream Brewing Company in the Old Market has always been a personal favorite and my preferred location to the Upstream out in West O, if only for it being in the much more distinctive Old Market, since the beer and food are for the most part identical. Other things I like? The friendly, knowledgeable bar staff will allow you sample their beers to assist you in making a choice. I prefer Upstream's ales and find their pilseners and lagers to be far less appealing. Jill, the bartender on duty on the Tuesday afternoon that I was there, was exceedingly accommodating since I would normally order their Flagship IPA or Firehouse, but they had several interesting brews available that I'd never had before. The Cask Conditioned Ale was quite nice. Second, the Upstream offers free wi-fi, which is a nice little perk. I didn't have any food this trip since I'd already had lunch, but based on previous experience, the menu full of upscale bar food is generally pretty decent (the pizzas and the smoked gouda & beer soup are standouts), but some of the items seem a bit pricey. I'm not a fan of their steaks. They serve Omaha Steaks (the brand), which are way pricey and, frankly, way overrated. For sure, there are better craft beers to be found across the country, but the Upstream Brewing Company does what it does quite well. It stands tall amongst its peers in the burgeoning Nebraska craft brewing scene. read more

I've been here twice and have been remiss in reviewing. First visit was awesome. It was in the December time frame. Dinner, a ribeye served over potatoes and veggies, was very good. That visit was a four star visit, easy. Second visit this June... a different story. The waitress was new. She was very friendly, but didn't hit the mark. She promised water, which I wanted. We didn't get water until much later in the evening when she returned and asked if we needed anything and I said.. get this, "Water". I ordered the salmon special. It was not hot. It wasn't exactly cold, but it was NOT hot. As I worked through it there were portions of it that were more warm than others. Did I send it back? I'm not a big fan of sending food back. It annoys the staff and who knows what they do to it while they are 'fixing" it. But even more to the point, I don't want my mis-cooked meal just heated up in a microwave, or whatever. It should have been right the first time. Now don't get me wrong, it tasted good. But I must also mention it was very expensive. In the end it was a huge waste of money. Oh... and after ordering we received our beers and before we could get a decent sip our meals were brought to the table. 1. I needed more time to relax. 2. If it was really ready that quick then, by golly, my fish should have been HOT... and it was not. I felt rushed. There were huge groups of people seated all around us.
