My experience with Kirk was a little bit different. I came after a car accident exacerbated a past brain injury. I found Kirk's fast paced conversation and painful needle injection style to be disconcerting. One of the first needles he put in broke a large vein on the back of my hand and I was bruised for weeks. When I politely told Kirk over text that I wouldn't be continuing treatments with him, he inquired multiple times as to "why," which isn't something one expects to deal with from a professional. Over a year later, Kirk delayed the receipt of my lawsuit payout for months, as he refused to submit the necessary documents to my lawyer. I have been attending Uptown Acupuncture for a few years now and I must say that Kirk is the finest acupuncture practitioner I have ever been to, and I've been to dozens. I have a condition that is quite extreme and I believe had I not been treated by Kirk, I would have been addicted to the Opiad drugs at this point. I have a very severe case of Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction where the ligaments in my arches have failed, leding to a crippling situation that four-foot surgeries and two complete restorations have only helped in minor ways. The pain that radiates throughout my hips, back and even shoulders and neck due to the deformation of my feet can be extreme and demobilizing. I go through periods that all four of my metatarsals will break if I am not careful as the weight throughout my foot is not distributed evenly and my walking gate is off. When the pain is too extreme and I either have to take pain pills or steroid shots in my hips and knees, I see Kirk for the acupuncture treatments that in my experience is an entirely different game than any other acupuncture practitioner I've ever seen. Kirk's knowledge of the biomechanics of movement in the body is about as impressive as my world-renown surgeon that did my foot restorations. He "knows" where my pain is to an astounding degree and he quells the pain... sometimes in just one treatment or two. Kirk is very passionate about what he does and is one of those few that is a God-given "healer." He has a rare combination of medical science, knowledge, and intuition. I first saw Kirk last year with a chronic hamstring tendinopathy. I noticed an immediate benefit but only got a couple treatments before resorting to a more aggressive (but also effective) approach ... PRP injections. Last month, when my hamstring flared up again full force, I was devastated and feared another several months of injury and another set of painful injections. Instead, I called Kirk and he got me in right away. After my first treatment I noticed a huge improvement and after a series of visits (about twice weekly for three weeks) my hamstring was 100% back to normal. In just that short time I went from being unable to run without intense pain to running a half marathon pain-free. The man is truly a miracle worker. I only regret not having seen him years ago when my chronic hamstring pain first began. This weekend, I decided all this health was just too much and therefore smashed my foot into a concrete wall while running (yes, I am *that* clumsy). As my potentially sprained or fractured foot began to swell and show a gorgeous rainbow of burgundy and violet, I knew a visit with Kirk was critical. He got me in right away and - like usual - went above and beyond the call of duty. He is not simply an acupuncturist, but is an all-around healer. His tactic is not crystals and magic (as he says!), but rather, he takes a rational, integrative, individualized approach towards healing the body by whatever means necessary. When I shared my concern over a possible fracture, he arranged an X-ray with his colleague that same visit. Yes, he's an acupuncture genius, but he also incorporates electrical stimulation (which can be wonderfully intense!), soft tissue therapy (massage and active release), Chinese medicine and kinesio taping. What's more, Kirk is exactly the type of person you want jabbing needles into you. He listens attentively and involves you in every step of the therapy, continually asking for your feedback and guidance along the way. He's a genuinely caring individual, and always manages to lift my spirits with his positivity and great sense of humor! As for some logistics, he's moved to a new location (as of April 2015) which is wonderful. The place is clean and professional with comfortable, cozy acupuncture rooms. He shares an office with two chiropractors, including Dr. McKinney who (thanks to Kirk's recommendation) also helped tremendously with my hamstring injury. I believe Kirk takes insurance if your plan covers acupuncture, but if it not he's far more reasonable than other rates I've seen. About two and a half months ago my sciatic nerve attacked me. I was in alot of pain. I missed a week of work and ended up in the emergency. I was feeling pain on my lower back and left upper calf.
