    Coffee & cranberry orange scone

Great location with a game-store-esque vibe! It's open and full of light. The tables are pretty spread apart and they're big! Customer service was great and the cranberry orange scone tasted like heaven. We will definitely be back.

    Caffe Latte.

Was in dire need of coffee before work, so luckily this spot is literally across the street from work. I ordered a hot Caffe Latte. It was definitely pretty good for a chain coffee place. I enjoyed the "velvet foam" on top of my latte. I'm not a fan of chain coffee stores at all, but I think this is a solid place. Updated: April 2017; came here again and ordered the same Caffe Latte. It tasted horrible. I am now scared to retry this place again because of the inconsistency.

    Gameporium goodness

Seattle's Coffee Yelp Recognition Award: Best Foam Uptown Coffee is my coffee "go-to" in Seattle. While there is a lot of competition throughout the Coffee Capital, you can't beat their infamous Velvet Foam lattes. In true Coffee definitions, all their lattes would be considered wet cappuccinos... Their secret is not in the type of milk used, but the temperature at which they froth the milk. I have being mesmerized watching the art hundreds of times during my daily recurrent caffeine-lows, but let's not get into the fine details! Bottom line is their coffee + amazing foam topping with a dot = One spot on excellent coffee. No matter where I am in Seattle, I can make an Uptown Coffee run. Belltown, Magnolia, Interbay waterfront, Delridge, West Seattle, Alki, South Lake Union, Lower Queen Anne, Wallingford...they've got me covered. The majority of their locations have the tacky dark green carpet and artsy chalkboard menus, the space is nothing to be excited about. However, I will say that the Delridge/Youngstown location is the most spacious and unique with a Gameporium. Bookshelves stacked with alphabetized games for purchase are organized to the tee by someone as OCD as myself. Not to mention their antique painted walls that feature the historic Luna Park. The only downfall is the very limited amount of plugs if you're planning to charge your devices. All in all, give any of the Uptown Coffee locations a try.

I thought it was because the West Seattle location but their decor is a little old, dark, and depressing. Then my friend told me that all the other locations are exactly the same. Service was friendly and coffee taste foamy. The atmosphere could use some uplifting. Maybe it's just my timing but listening to someone singing "Cry Me A River" and other bluesy songs didn't exactly perk up my Saturday afternoon. Although I think the music fits the interior quite nicely.

Nice and clean place. Parking in front and conveniently located right off I 90 bridge. Their coffee and hot chocolate taste great. I just wish that girl who served me today wasn't that grumpy and smile little bit. It would make my experience much better.

Chai tea latte in its all velvety-foam glory (:

I'm a big fan of small local espresso cafes and Uptown Espresso is no exception. This location in particular is one of my favourite spots. It can be easily missed when you're whizzing by to and from the WS Bridge and the parking lot is pretty limited, but the people working there are so wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect for just about anything, from studying to catching up with friends. And I LOVE that it's also a game emporium, where you have the option of trying out some tabletop games before purchasing. My only issue is that their drinks aren't always consistent. I like my hot stuff hot -- I mean REALLY hot -- and sometimes my chai tea lattes come back lukewarm..... but they're generally very nice about redoing the drink if you ask nicely (:

The vibe of this place and the people that make it happen every morning are world class. Life situations kept me from making my way to the shop for a year or so, but when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a "it's been a while!" The coffee is reasonably priced and imo - best in the area. It's consistent and while I'm a sucker for the 12oz cold brew - I've gone off script a few times and have always been pleased. I've got family that comes into town fairly often, and almost every morning they ask to go because they think about it when they're at home in Chicago. There's plenty of seating, tho it's sometimes so bumping (because it's a great spot!) it can be hit or miss if you can stick around and enjoy the vibe. But generally I've had good luck over the years setting up at a table and chatting with friends & fam before a hike, enjoying the morning with my pup doing some socialization training or throwing a few emails around to my corporate overlords. I've seen ads for their evening events and have been wanting to make it to one, but I always seem to see the poster days or weeks after the event! Poetry nights in a space like boon boona seem like an unbeatable vibe, hope to notice & get to one soon. *Parking is also not hard to find at all. Their drink offerings are standard, although they also have housemade syrups and specialty drinks (seasonal mochas, lattes, etc) if you want to try something different. I love how they highlight their single origin espresso on the menu with the tasting notes. They also offer matcha and teas if you're more into that. I haven't tried any bakery goods, but looking at the pastry case, they're quite popular. After booking a tea tasting at a local tea shop, I went around looking for coffee tastings and found Victrola. Every Friday at 11AM, they offer a free tasting class, so we, of course, booked the very next Friday! Arriving at the shop a bit before 11AM, it was pretty full, with most tables taken and a short line of 2-3 people in front of me. We checked in with the cashier and he said the barista was getting things ready. Maybe 5 minutes later, we were led to the room in the back, where the barista introduced the tasting experience and handed us two sheets of paper, one with the anatomy of a coffee cherry, and the other with their coffee flavor wheel. For this week, it was only us two for the tasting, so we had a full monopoly of the barista (according to him, the prior week was 8 people!). We were able to try two coffees - both single origin, one from Guatemala and the other from Colombia. We started by sniffing the beans and grounds, with the Guatemalan emanating notes of lightly roasted peanuts (per tasting notes, it's milk chocolate, orange, and "elegant") and the Colombian with dark soy and umami notes (per tasting notes, it's pineapple, melon, and date), at least to my nose. The barista brewed both via pour over (if I remember correctly, it was 203F water with 20g of the Guatemalan, 24g of the Colombian in 360g of water). I forgot the exact grind sizes he used. Interestingly, the flavor profile of the Colombian was completely different to me between the grounds and the final brew. Very fruity throughout - I'm not that adept at description, but it's definitely a fresher, crisp fruit, not dried fruit, and not red fruit or berries, nor citrus. I'll have to file this one away as pineapple and green apple, per the barista. In terms of mouthfeel, it's thick, almost syrupy, coating the mouth with the fruity flavors. The Guatemalan, on the other hand, is completely different, starting with roasted coffee, then still with the peanut notes, but also adding a caramel-like essence. Very 'brown' on the color wheel. Mouthfeel-wise, thinner, watery like tea. I have never had good quality coffee before and this was certainly an experience that opened my eyes to how good coffee can actually be. I still have a ton of tea leaves to go through, but perhaps when I'm nearing the end, I'll have to start drinking more coffee. Tea, then chocolate, and now maybe coffee? My wallet is crying...

BEAN BOX: WHERE LIMA BEAN DREAMS BECOME REALITY (DESPITE BEING A COFFEE SHOP)…read more Listen, while others might come here expecting just coffee beans, let me tell you about their REVOLUTIONARY approach to lima bean curation. Their selection of these flat, buttery legumes is so extensive it makes other coffee shops look like they're not even trying in the lima bean department (which, to be fair, they're not, because they're coffee shops). Their premium Giant White Lima collection (displayed with the reverence usually reserved for rare coffee beans) is housed in custom-made glass jars that make other beans question their life choices. Each lima bean is positioned to catch the morning light like tiny, kidney-shaped supermodels. You haven't lived until you've seen their Christmas Lima Bean display (completely overshadowing their holiday coffee blends). The variegated patterns on these heirloom limas tell a story that makes their single-origin Ethiopian beans seem downright chatty at parties. The rare Fordhook Lima section (inexplicably placed next to their pour-over station) features beans so perfectly formed that customers often mistake them for small sculptures. I once saw someone try to order a lima bean latte. The barista's confusion was palpable, but their lima bean organization remained impeccable. Their rotating seasonal lima bean exhibit (which takes up prime real estate that could be used for, oh, I don't know, COFFEE) includes varieties like the Baby Lima, Henderson Bush, and the elusive King of the Garden Lima. Each one is labeled with tasting notes, as if someone's going to conduct a lima bean cupping session. Five stars for their commitment to showcasing these underappreciated legumes in a space clearly designed for coffee retail. I've started a weekly lima bean appreciation club where we gather to admire their collection while confused coffee customers try to order lattes around us. P.S. I heard someone suggest they should focus more on coffee beans, and the lima bean display case audibly gasped. P.P.S. Their limited edition Jackson Wonder Lima beans are stored in a climate-controlled case that probably cost more than most cars. The security system seems excessive, but who am I to question lima bean protection protocols? Note: This review was written while contemplating the bold choice of dedicating so much space to lima beans in a coffee shop on 1st Avenue South. The courage. The vision. The complete disregard for traditional coffee shop inventory expectations. Special Addendum: To the customer who asked why there were lima beans in the coffee grinder - you clearly don't understand the ARTISTRY of cross-legume innovation. Final Thought: Sure, they might technically be a "coffee shop," but their lima bean game is stronger than a triple shot espresso. It's like they misread "coffee house" as "legume palace" and just ran with it. Remember: Coffee beans may come and go, but lima beans are forever. Or at least until someone finally explains to them what kind of beans coffee shops typically sell. P.P.P.S. Their new "Lima Bean of the Month" subscription service is revolutionary, even if it's causing significant confusion among their coffee subscribers.
