Olympia Coffee Roasters has been my favorite area roaster for quite some time. I have not yet had beans from them for my daily pour overs that are disappointing - though you kind of have to know what type of flavor profiles you like to begin with but that's on you not the roaster. Love a coffee shop that has pour overs. Had the Rwanda Mbilima with notes of tea, red berry, and honeysuckle. It was one of the best cups of coffee I have had in awhile and I drink a pour over every morning that I make usually double the strength that coffee places will use. The barista making the coffee knew his stuff and it was nice to see someone enjoying their craft. read more

We stopped at Olympia Coffee about 1/2 way to our stroll to the Farmers' Market. We got an iced coffee, a hot London Fog, and the seasonal Delicate. The Delicate sounded a little strange, but that's kind of my jam. If the flavor profile sounds weird together, but I like all the flavors, I usually give it a try. The Delicate is an iced black peach tea with Pistachio milk. It is delicious!! I did not get to go back and take a picture of the menu because the line was out the door once we got our drinks. It's a very neat and clean cafe and if it wasn't so busy and we weren't on our way to the market we would have stayed and enjoyed our drinks there. Highly recommend! read more

I am not a coffee drinker so the coffee portion of this review is based on my cousin's opinion. My cousin loves Olympia coffee. Prior to her visiting me from out of town, i had bought her two different coffee bean bags from Olympia (i had done some research amongst friends and coworkers and they consistently said great things about Olympia Coffee) - Sweetheart and Morning Sun. So visiting Olympia Coffee was one of the places I wanted to take her to while she was in town. We came to this West Seattle location because we were going to have dinner in the area. This location is smaller than the one in Columbia City but still very cute and cozy. There's some bar seating on the inside and there's some outdoor seating for nicer weather days. My cousin ordered the pour over of the Gatta Natural coffee which the barista recommended to her. I ordered an herbal tea. The pour over is done on a cool looking machine and it's cool that they do pour overs - we went to a couple of coffee shops while she visited and this was the only one that did pour over - otherwise it was just a drip/brew. My tea came out quickly and my cousin's pour over took a couple minutes longer. Since we were drinking our beverages at the shop, the drinks came in real mugs which i loooooved. They had some really unique specialty/seasonal drinks. I tried one of their more Fall-inspired flavors and it was good but felt a bit short on flavor. I dig the oat milk (I think it was Minor Figures) and decaf roast not too bright (I lean medium-dark). Sadly no vegan snack options on hand. One thing many maybe don't notice/appreciate is B Corp. It's basically a well-balanced rating of bottom line, sustainability and employee care which is just awesome. Hat tip to everyone at this small business! The space is pleasantly modern and cozy. The front door area can feel a bit cramped since any line can reach the door pretty fast. Neat scattering of some merchandise & goods/gifts. Outdoor seating is good on this cozy corner. read more

This is a good shop to buy beans or get the traditional basic coffees, or try their seasonal drinks. More hot coffee focused but do offer a great iced matcha. Some outdoor seating. About two tables. Gets some natural light. Not a coffee shop where you'd study or work, but a good meet up spot for an hour or so. I always hope one day a shop will focus on or make iced coffees with as much creativity as hot but a girl can dream.. Good: seasonal warm coffees. They had one last winter that was chocolate and orange that I really liked. Has a nice iced matcha that tastes like when I make it at home. Matcha is harder to find than it should be. Not great: completely skip the cold brew. It's horrendous--and from a can. It has no flavor and basically tasted like water. Believe it or not, I've yet to find a better cold brew than Starbucks. It was pretty crowded inside, but we were able to find a seat rather quickly. I got one of their seasonal specialty lattes. Although it looked absolutely gorgeous, the fruit flavor was definitely lost. My partner got a pour over and was not impressed either. They also had cute little stickers available for purchase! A fun experience! I love that Olympia offers open/screenless windows, it was a perfect space to sit and enjoy some coffee and take in the gorgeous July weather. I also thought the service was amazing. I did find there was a lack of shade, even indoors (because of the screenless windows) which made it tough to sit for very long. Wear sunscreen! I really appreciated the presentation of the espresso - I saw someone else with it and it is why I came in at all! They give it to you on a tray with a tiny spoon and a cup of sparkling water. So fancy and fun! My espresso was a bit bitter for my taste and tasted a bit burnt, I wasn't able to finish it all. Still a great experience and I would like to go back and try a less delicate beverage, where these tiny problems may not matter too much! read more

I was at another business across the street and Olympia Coffee sounded like the perfect pick -me-up on this sunny day! I love them for their coffee (duh), but it was my first time getting a matcha from here! I just got a trusty iced oat milk matcha latte with honey but as I was looking at their menu after ordering, I would've loved to try their homemade vanilla or seasonal lavender syrup! I guess I need to go back! Parking can be a little tricky off of California Ave but the area is so cute that a little walk wouldn't be horrible! Full disclosure - I don't drink coffee. I was visiting from out of state, staying at an Airbnb in West Seattle and wanted to get a cup of tea and a snack before my travel companions woke up. Olympia Coffee 1) was open at 7 am 2) was within walking distance and 3) had great reviews on Yelp. I really liked this place - I had no idea Olympia Coffee had so many locations and such a storied history. I got black tea, a vegetable tart and a lemon scone. The tea was good and the pastries were tasty - nicely seasoned (for the tart) and nicely sweetened (sweet, but not too sweet) for the scone. The two women behind the counter were terrific - they were friendly and engaged, which was exactly what I was hoping for from a "local" coffee shop just after dawn. I liked it so much, I went back the next day to refuel during my morning run. I passed at least three other coffee shops on my jog, but none or them looked as inviting or had as good of reviews as Olympia. read more

This cozy small cafe add so much pleasure to my Saturday afternoons whether it's a typical rainy Seattle whether or it's a sunny crisp day. They don't have much space for you to sit down and spend hours in there, but their coffee was a genuine amazement. They make sure everything is made in perfection with accurate weight measurement with their seasonal house made syrups. If you are here in Sweater weather, i would highly recommend to try their "sweater weather" which is a latte with their whiskey syrup. This is a complex review. Olympia Coffee is very good coffee. We are a family of 1- a former roaster for a small coffee business and 2 - a barista before it was the thing to be. We learned well and not even close to a snobby atmosphere. No, we don't mention it. Just my way of saying we know our coffee well, we know when we've found a place with amazing coffee. Olympia is it. It's a small nice space with nice lighting and walkable from the neighborhood. All this makes it perfect. So- we've gone for years and, I will disagree with other reviews here that the baristas on the past have been snobby. I've always found them quite friendly and easy going. Not pretentious, not rude. And I'll say the same for most of the employees today. Then cue the tall blonde woman with the naturally loud, deep voice. Brings them straight down to a 1 star. First abrupt, curt, interaction came around Christmas. They were an hour from closing, place was a mess. She was the only person behind the counter. I got an earful of grumbling, and lots of woe about poor her " it's been slammed all day and I haven't had a moment to myself". I gave her that. I get it. It's Christmas, clearly she'd been busy. Next interaction was January. She was in your face rude. Co-workers seemed on edge. Without saying a word, I was told to be patient she'll be with me soon. When she asked what size I wanted my drink, and I pointed to a cup, I was SCOLDED and told NOT TO TOUCH THE CUPS. That was her job not mine. As I'm waiting for the coffee, another person came in, clearly a regular, and she was polite. Inside jokes, lots of laughing - and - dissing other customers who "think they know it all". Hmmm. Tried not to take it personally. Wondered what I'd done to piss her off. Today, I learned it's not personal. Watched several customers get scolded - for touching the iPad at the register too soon, or reaching for a coffee they thought was theirs, etc. Interspersed with loud welcomes and again inside jokes with the regulars. She's an absolute sore spot. She's so insanely loud and obnoxious. I think she thinks people only come in for her. She has a naturally loud voice but she projects it well and clearly wants to be heard, offering insight about herself without anyone asking. Her behavior is absolutely unnecessary. I listened to her ask a customer why he only tipped 25 cents. "Really wish I could understand your thought process" And mentioned several times that she was holding it in and couldn't use their bathroom because all the baristas know "when someone goes NUMBER TWO in our bathroom. It's so gross! I have to go but won't because it's disgusting!" I do agree with the other reviewers. This behavior is enough to just go ahead and buy your coffee elsewhere even if it isn't as good. read more

Absolutely love the coffee here! They make their own syrups, included with whole/healthier ingredients than what you would find at your grocery store or Starbucks. I had the pumpkin thing last time and it was superb, not too sweet and had just the right amount of foam. The baristas are very patient and accommodating, describe their menu items with a sort of passion that makes me want to try everything on the menu. Its usually pretty busy when I'm there but the shop itself is located near other interesting stores and there is ample parking. read more
