Word to the wise, if you're going here for trivia, make a reservation regardless how big or small your party is. Drove 1/2 hr to come for trivia. We only had 3 people in our party and we showed up over an hour early and were told that everyone there had reservations and there were no open spots indoors and no one in the lounge/restaurant would be leaving because they're all there for trivia. The staff were condescending and didn't seem to even make an effort. Guess they don't need our business. I went and looked at the Facebook event for that evening and it says "reservations recommended for parties over 8", which is obviously not accurate. Don't waste your time. read more

We've probably been here a total of 20 times, it's definitely hit or miss on the quality and preparation of food but after tonight I'm gonna have to take a break from this place. I've never minded dropping 60-70 dollars but not anymore. Portions use to be good and they've made menu changes to where you're not even getting half of what you once were for a $2 difference. Not impressed to get the tenderloin with 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half vs the meal they use to offer w/ 2 sides and a salad. We love the Uptown. Before or after a movie it's excellent for a creative meal and cocktails. Yelm has a lot of good solid food but the Uptown is the place to go for food with flair. They have a changing seasonal menu with some really interesting specials. Tuesday night trivia is a great time! read more

Uptown lounge is located in the Yelm Theater. All customers need to be 21+ which I understand they don't want kids running around, but I can't help but wonder how much business they are losing because of this. They serve popcorn in little bowls before meals, which is a cute idea. They have a wide drink selection complete with different types of tasty herbal teas. I recently found out they do trivia on Tuesday nights, and I'm hoping to go soon and check it out! read more

Update: they have changed the seating and added more dining tables. With that change, this place is amazing to visit! There hasn't been a thing on the menu that I have tried, that I haven't liked. Listen, Yelm Wa[r]shington isn't exactly the cuisine capital of the prairie, HOWEVER... the Uptown Lounge has the absolute best Burger I'd pay money for in a 100 mile radius. My wife and I had a date night dinner while our kids watched a movie and I made the life changing decision to order the jalapeño popper burger. When I say listen, I mean it... you'd better listen, or just keep reading! I'm not the kind of guy who orders burgers cause you usually get a weird frozen patty thingy, but I took a serious chance on this one. I gotta tell ya, it was mind blowingly good with jalapeño cream cheese, house fried onions, fire roasted jalapeños and arugula. Movie or no movie, go there right now and eat this thing. I have been three times. I was hoping that the third time would be the charm. Sad to say...not the case. I went to a publicized event, The AntiValentines Party, where there was limited menu choices. All burgers, which was fine, since they are delicious. However, we waited to order our dinner for more than 20 minutes last night. Then waited another 30 before asking how much longer until our meals were ready. The only reason we felt it appropriate to ask was because we had watched three other tables get seated after us, and receive food before us. Our waiter soon fixed the problem, likely put a rush on it. We did enjoy the meal once it came. And the manager seemed to want to hear what we had to say, then gave us a voucher for the next time we came in. We will try one more time. Cross your fingers for us. read more

It's nice to have a place right in the theater for a pre or post movie meal. They have great appys...and unique drinks. It has comfortable ambience and every wait person I've met has been nice. I just wish you could order the food and have it served during the movie. read more

I would not go here except because I was also going to a movie after....but the ability to go to a bar onsite before a movie is a life enhancement....between the ethanol and the edible I take about 30 minutes before movie time I am primed and ready. The staff here tends to turn over, the food is usually good and is sometimes great, the drinks run OK to good but rarely great depending upon the bartender. The interior is well thought out though the build-out was done on the cheap, the furniture is not holding up well, this might get to be a problem. The plan was that the lounge would deliver food and drink into the theater but it never happened and I am glad about that, because of the commotion and smell issues. This place could fall apart quality wise at any time but so far manages to get by. read more

My first time in we were seated and then sat at least 20 minutes with no service, we flagged down a lady working asking when our waitress would be by. Turns out that woman was a manager. She sincerely apologized and offered us a free appetizer on our next visit as we didn't have time for more than a drink now. The drink was delicious and I came back for a second try a couple months later. For our free app we had the truffle fries, which were amazing! My entree wasn't what I was expecting and I didn't have more than a couple bites but was not complaining. Our waitress noticed it was mostly untouched and insisted she take it off our bill. So our hotel gave us a coupon for the lounge so we went and apparently they don't serve minor's. My daughter is 18 year's old and has been since February so they said they couldn't serve us. All she wanted was a diet coke and fish and chips, not a whole bottle of tequila with a side of vodka. I don't understand why they couldn't just sell us the food, we didn't ask for ANY alcohol. First time here and it far exceeded our expectations. The decor, food and drinks were all outstanding. In fact the only thing better than the food and environment was the staff. The bartender (Alex) was spot on and the general manager (Eric) was super personable. Well worth the 40 min drive from home to grab a bite and a movie. Super rude female manager that charged over to us super aggressively. We wanted to send back an appetizer and it really wasn't a big deal until she butted in when she overheard our server. Me and my boyfriend went there for a date night (dinner beforehand then a movie next door) and were told we would have a 5 minute wait. 45 minutes later, we were still waiting with no additional information given or assurance that we would be seated soon. Then another group of 4 walked up and asked how long of a wait it would be and they took them right back with no wait. We were shocked. The waitress looked directly at us and said nothing and walked away with the other group. We were sad because there were plenty of other options for dinner around the area that we considered but wanted to try this place since we never had before. Because we waited so long, we went without dinner since our movie time was approaching and we had to go in order to not miss the movie. I have been here a few times with family and with friends and every time it seems like we are paying for more than we are getting. The food is amazing, the service is hit and miss and the drinks always seem to fall short. One of my friends ordered a drink and was asked iced or not, when he received his bill he realized he paid $3 for adding ice. I really enjoy the Uptown. Once you get over the fact that it is in the movie theater and walk through the doors you find yourself in a place that ups the standard for Yelm. The food is good and the atmosphere better. My reason for the four star rating is two-fold. The location of the bathroom is inside the theater, honestly its a little weird. Secondly I was thoroughly disappointed that my calamari came with fried broccoli, which took over the flavor of the calamari. But honestly its the only item that has disappointed me on the menu. read more

Very nice restaurant. Food was good and the feel of the place was great. Nice selection on the menu. I would have given four stars but the server was a tad on the distracted side. Time to settle up on the bill and had to wait about 10 minutes while he had a conversation. Finally had to take the check to him and interrupt so we could be on our way. This wouldn't have been a problem but it appeared his conversation was with friends rather than normal interaction with customers. I will go back. read more

Our experience at this restaurant lounge has always been great and tonight was no exception! Myself and 7 friends had a ladies night to say goodbye to a good friend who is moving. It was the perfect place, they let us make a reservation. Our server personally called me to confirm the reservation and let me know the table was ready for us.
