NOT IMPRESSED to say the least. Wait time was acceptable, and atmosphere is good. The food leaves something to be desired however. First the appetisers. The cesar salads came out dry. I had to ask for more Dressing. We got the artichoke dip which was decent. It was nice to see actual chunks on artichoke in it as many places don't do that. Wish they offered more bread for the dip. For the entrees. My wife got the beef tenderloin. Horribly overcooked on the ends, and undercooked in the center. The steak was under seasoned and had no flavor and the balsamic glaze was lacking. I had the cedar plank salmon......for the price, I could have bought a full filet and grilled it myself at the house and ended up with a better meal. The TINY filet was not cut correctly with the grain of the fish, and was over cooked leaving a dry mess on the cedar. The salmon was also extremely fishy with no seasoning which leads me to believe it has been sitting in the freezer for a while in the back and was baked and not cedar plank grilled. (You would think a state known for some of the best salmon in the world would know how to do it) Desserts! We were going to get desert but decided against another disappointment On a positive not the Hawaiian sunrise (with alcohol added) was top notch and one of the best drinks i have had. read more

I've been to Uptown multiple times since their opening and I have been so impressed with all of their food options. From the cocktails to entrees, I haven't had a bad meal. They did have sub par service for a long time, but they must have heard the complaints because it's got a lot better recently. We took a break from this place after a couple bad encounters with a snarky night manager. However, it appears she is long gone and things are good again at the Uptown Lounge. Alex is a great bartender and the food is better than anywhere else in Yelm. We have become regulars again. I highly recommend the Asian Chicken Salad and ask for Mac and cheese with bacon and jalepeno. They do a good job with it. They also do a good steak. read more

We decided to take in a dinner before our movie. We want to unwind from a hectic work week, relax, have a drink and forget about the troubles of the world in a pleasant environment. The last thing we want to do is eat our dinner with FOX news glaring at us on 2 different t.v.screens airing a presidential rally. Really Uptown? This is the best you could do on a Friday night? This is repugnant. Your patrons shouldn't be forced to watch this. Here's a tip: project something more common ground, pleasant and enjoyable in your atmosphere. Nice pub and burger menu. The waitstaff are friendly and they pace the service really well. We got bar drinks and loaded potato skins for appetizer. Plenty of crispy skins loaded with cheese sauce that tasted like real cheese, sour cream, bacon& green onions. I had a smoked old fashioned brought out in a bell jar full of smoke. Quite a dramatic presentation! They had malt vinegar to go with fish & chips and they offer burgers in bowls of lettuce for those who don't eat buns. An enjoyable experience. The menu is familiar items, but most of them have an interesting twist. It would be nice if they had a larger selection of beer on tap, but having flights as an option is always nice. They have decent happy hour specials, and I enjoyed the drinks I ordered when I was there. My only complaint is that the service was exceptionally slow (particularly since it was a Thursday night, and not very busy). The Uptown Lounge was anything but disappointing! It is easily the best place to eat in the area. The prime filet mignon was excellent and though it was a bit on the small side, it melted in your mouth with plenty of char and beef flavor. The desert was an apple cobbler with blueberry sauce drizzled over the vanilla bean alamode, (and it was certainly enough for two people). The service was spot on, never felt rushed, but also did not feel ignored in the least. All in all a special place for special occasions. Its unfortunate that I have to leave a 1 star review. My husband and I eat here frequently, and tonight was the worst service we have ever had. It was an average Saturday night, busy but not slammed. We were seated right away. Our server, Christopher took our order- but forgot to ask us if we wanted drinks. We stopped him and requested our drinks. Not that big of deal, he looked a bit stressed out. Four separate times through out our dinner I asked for water. I never received it. I did however get a glass of wine served with a dirty glass. And when i say dirty...not just a spot, but a glass that had red wine in it previously, and I am certain that it hadn't been washed at all. Our steaks were cool when served to us. Mine was medium rare and it was good! My husbands was supposed to be rare, but it was barely pink in the middle. We finished our dinner, and had to wait some time for our check. When the server came, we had our credit card out and ready to pay. Our server walked away. (Without taking our card) At this point, we have become a bit frustrated with our whole experience and we are now ready to leave, but we had to wait another 10 minutes for our server to come back to run the credit card. We spent $80.00 on dinner tonight and did not have a pleasant experience at all. I really hope this was just an off night, and not the new normal. read more

Went to Happy Hour, July 3. Were seated outdoors as it was a beautiful evening. Was told our waitperson will be with in a few. Waited 15 minutes, then finally ordered our cocktails, which took an other 20 min. So far not good. Cocktails were good. Ordered from Happy Hour menu, took 35 minutes to get that. Food was on the cold side. Would have been very good if they were hot enough. Service is lacking timing. They need more staff as waitperson, also more attentiveness in the kitchen. Nice that they bring popcorn to the table to munch on while preparing your orders. Fast service, and if you tell them when your movie starts, they offer suggestions that will be prepared in plenty of time for you to get to your seats for the coming attractions. My boyfriend and I recently moved to Yelm it was our first time out in town and decided to have lunch at Uptown. We were amazed with the food. I ordered the Baja tacos and he ordered the cheesy cowboy burger with the spinach artichoke dips. My husband and I didn't know what to expect, so we didn't have expectations, but holy! We have been raving about the food we ate here for our most recent date night. We have had three dinners at Uptown Lounge and have not been disappointed. The New York steak is awesome. The pickle chips are the best anywhere in the south sound. Steak salad also very good. Service has also been excellent. One less star for seating which is a little awkward for eating because most of the tables are kind of high for the chairs. read more

We both got the steak medallions with asparagus and mashed potatoes which was cooked to absolute excellency! For dessert she ordered some kind of chocolate decadence... which my mom said she would come to Yelm just to get again (she lives in olympia)! The steak was very flavorful and so tender...and the asparagus (which I don't generally tend to order) was seriously cooked to perfection!
