So I've been putting off this review until my new doctor can get my medical records from UPG because they've been known to terminate patients and "lose documents" when they get a bad review online. Sorry to beat ya to the punch there, guys. The front desk staff is only as half as awful as people say. There's a young fellow and an old fellow. The young fellow is a sweetheart, always courteous and kind. I'll wait in line to see him. In fact most people do because the older one teeters the line on verbal abuse, and crosses that line frequently. I'll never forget the day I called in a panic over some chest pains and asked to speak to a nurse and he yelled at me and then hung up. So professional eh? I hate giving this review because I received nothing but kindness and respect from the nurses and physicians that saw me. If only courtesy equated to actual medical savvy, things would be okay. I was often interrogated for needing a Benzo and always received a surprise reaction when I told them that that fill I got filled a year ago still had pills in it (I'm guessing they deal with a lot of folks with a pill problem but they don't have to loop in their responsible patients in that category). I'm an anti depressant utilizer, and with this establishment they require a visit every six months to keep getting fills. The problem with that is when I would come in the doctor would always ask why I'm there and why I need to be seen (I guess to give ya'll my money and get you guys paid by my insurance?) They don't do much in house except blood work (the lab staff is awesome)l, however) So I had to find an outside dermatologist, gynecologist, etc. Overall pretty inconvenient. The straw that kind of broke the camels back here was getting misdiagnosed, which the radiology lab they sent me to misdiagnosed me even though results were not clear, which led to a three night hospital stay, a specialist, a surgical procedure, and a TON of medical bills only to be officially diagnosed with a very minor ailment. This ordeal also led to "other findings" by UPG and a litany of other tests being ordered despite me being otherwise healthy and getting a second opinion from another doctor who couldn't believe such a stink was made about something so minor. Healthcare is a for profit business - UPG knows this and takes full advantage of it. So if you want to risk being verbally berated by front desk staff (the old guy, not the young one), being scheduled for lots of unnecessary appointments and tests, and possibly getting misdiagnosed - by all means, go to UPG. They have a vacancy for a new patient now. read more

This office's new patient intake people offer poor customer service. You have to be a circus performer to jump through their hoops to get an initial appointment. Instead of speaking to you live, they want you to fill out documents and share them via email or fax. These documents appear to give them the right to share your information with whomever they want. They then refuse or can't seem to answer clarifying questions. They also seem unable to grasp simple concepts such as disclosure and release laws differ front state to state and require different forms. I'm paying you for a service, you should be treating me with politeness and courtesy at the very least. At least someone from the office called to apologize, for which I upgraded this review to a two. read more

I love UPG. Peter Triporo is wonderful! I can tell/ask him anything and he never judges but always tells me the truth. I feel like he is truly my partner in taking care of my health. I wish I could say that I had the good experience that the other reviewers had. I recently relocated from the Los Angeles area and decided to choose Uptown to be my primary physicians. I called about 60 days prior to my move, completed all of the paperwork, had my records sent from my providers and made an appointment for a week after I got here. Just a week before my appointment, I received a call from their office that the doctor with whom I had an appointment was going to be on vacation during my scheduled appointment and would not be returning to the practice. They rescheduled me for their first available date - 3 weeks out. I went ahead and made the appointment. The day before my appointment, I got a phone call from their office confirming my appointment for the next day at 2:00. Funny, I had 12:30 in my calendar, but, okay, I probably screwed it up somehow, so I changed my calendar. I showed up at 10 minutes till 2, paid my co-pay, and sat in the waiting room. About 10 minutes later, the front desk person called me up to inform me that my appointment had been at 1:00 and the doctor I was supposed to see had already left for the day. He would, though, be happy to reschedule me for the next available appointment (I didn't ask, but I'm guessing that it would have been another 3 weeks out). Obviously, I told them to nevermind; I am quite capable of finding another physician. Maybe their doctors are the best in the Dallas area. Maybe they practice great medicine. But, if you can't see them because they're so booked and if they consistently mis-schedule and break appointments, then what good does it do to be a good doctor? I wish that I could say that there was SOMETHING positive coming out of this experience - somebody who was particularly friendly, helpful, apologetic, courteous or polite - but, there wasn't. read more

So, most people do not want to admit that they have cosmetic procedures done. I am not one of those people. In fact, I am more than happy to tell you that my experience with Uptown Physicians was fabulous. I made an appointment to see Peter Triporo for a round of Botox injections. Keeping in mind that I was not there for any primary care services, becoming a new patient was super easy. I filled out my paperwork online and had an appointment to see Peter the very next day. Once I arrived, the front desk staff was friendly and professional. I waited all of about 5 minutes...which was a good thing as this needed to be a quick lunchtime procedure. The results of the injections are perfect. I still have movement, but the creasing and wrinkling is gone. My crows feet are gone and there I had no bruising. I love my fresh new face! The location of this office makes it easy and convenient. I definitely recommend Uptown Physicians for anyone looking for a well run group of doctors. Two thumbs up! read more

This is a practice staffed by people who genuinely care about their patients. From the warmth of the reception desk to the upbeat team in the lab, you feel welcomed all-around. I especially want to note the great care and attention given by a fantastic physician Dr Donald Graneto. Dr Graneto is knowledgeable, patient, listens, and explains options clear for patients and gives time and empathy of himself that has become a rarity in modern medicine. Prior doctors would have nurses or others call with lab results, but here you get a call directly from the doctor so you don't get just the number, but what that number means, verification you understand or to answer any questions, and next steps (if any) to take. Dr Graneto has been very accessible (often when other specialists seem to busy to even give you the time of day) and making appointments has been easy to do. read more

I have never experienced customer service and genuine caring at a doctor's office like I did today. This was my first visit to UPG and to Dr. Brady Allen. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment. I was surprised to be led back to the exam room right on time. 2 or 3 minutes later, Dr. Allen took me to his office for a private consultation. He was thorough, friendly, professional and really easy to talk with. Back to the exam room for my physical. I did not feel uncomfortable at any point during the physical. It was really thorough. I was then given a tetanus shot and sent off to get blood drawn. The entire staff was friendly, professional, funny and kind. I was out in 45 minutes. At my old doctor's office I would have still been waiting in the lobby to see him. Personable, professional, thorough, kind and genuinely concerned about me as a person. I've never even considered writing a review about a doctor before. Felt obligated to this time. If you need a doctor in Dallas, go see these guys. read more

So, I feel like I have to share something with everyone. I've been without medical insurance now for awhile. This resulted in me going off my medication. Unfortunately, that also resulted in me getting sick. I reached out to Dr. David Lee at Uptown Physicians Group (he's been my ID doctor since I moved to Dallas in 2016) and asked for advice regarding how to get blood work done for admittance to a program as well as how can I get an emergency supply of my medication, as my health had taken a nosedive. Well, he was able to run my blood work (which I had to pay out of pocket since I became uninsured last month), but I couldn't afford the TB test, which was an additional $150. To my shock, when I got my lab results back, he ran the TB test anyway! Didn't even charge me for it! And, to further show what a wonderful physician he is, he provided me with a one-month supply of the medication that I desperately needed free of charge. I have never been to a doctors office that cares so much about its patients. Especially a patient like me that cannot even afford to go to their office anymore. It went above and beyond anything that I could've imagined. So, thank you Dr. David Lee and Uptown Physicians Group in Dallas, TX. You guys are rock stars and have probably saved my life. read more

Donald A. Graneto, M.D The best Dr. in the Metroplex! A great family Dr.. What impressed me most when I first visited him, he actually called the next day with my lab results, and I thought wow, what Dr. makes call's to patients anymore. Dr. Graneto is very detailed oriented and will always let you ask him, "if it was you, what would you do" which a lot of Dr. s nowadays will not do! The Staff is AMAZING, I have never been to a family practice where they take such concern and get to know you. If your sick and need to get in to see the Dr. they are great at seeing what they can do, instead of saying, you'll have to wait a week or calling if their is a cancellation! When my Internist retired, I was referred to UPG. Upon making my first appointment, I met NP Peter Triporo. I had never seen a NP before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. That was two years ago and what a nice surprise! Peter is amazing! His skills are so good his fresh eyes on my 20 year hypertension issues yielded the real cause and now the best resolution and treatment. I am so thankful as no one with hypertension ever wants to see their BP creep out of limits! He explains things going on in my body better than and healthcare provider I have had....and that is so helpful! And in addition to all of that.....he is such a nice person! Dr. Lee and his crew are great. Very friendly and caring. They always get me in and out in less than a half an hour, blood draw and all. One time Peter knew I was sick and sent me to the emergency room which resulted in a week long hospital stay. The day I was released Peter gave me a call. The most paper work I ever get is to initial approval that no changes have been made in my insurance or personal data such as phone number and address. And the patient portal online contains all the records of letters and lab results from my first visit till now. Not impressed. Seems all they worry about is HIV. This is mainly for gay me and that seems to be who they cater to. I picked them due to my insurance and the doctor I was assigned to was more interested in talking than he was in treating anything. During the time I lived in Dallas, this was my PCP office. I never had any issues with the office, other than they ALWAYS collected my co-pay though I only came in for routine/preventive physicals that are covered at 100% by my insurance. Okay, whatever. Dr. Graneto, who was my PCP, is a great, caring, compassionate, and knowledgable doctor. I cannot say a thing negative about him. My dis-satisfaction with the office, is indeed the staff, that can be very caring and ind on one day, to very sassy and uninterested the next. On top of this, my last physical has caused me to feel differently about the office. The only times I have come into the office while I was a patient here was for an annual physical or routine vaccinations. So, for my last physical, I call and schedule a ROUTINE physical (please understand that I stress ROUTINE because I am in healthcare and know that anything other than Routine, will not be covered at 100%). The office receptionist schedules this appt for me. I come into my appt with Dr. G and we go over my routine physical. I even asked him a question that I was not sure if it fell in the realm of routine, but told him not to answer it if it did not fall into my routine appt, since I was only there for my routine physical and didn't want anything subject to my deductible. I was sure to stress, ROUTINE physical, okay :) He ended up answering the question as it was okay and within the realm of the appt. Now came my lab work - though I was only, only, ONLY there for routine service, Dr. G decided to order an entire panel of lab work outside of the routine tests. Me not knowing what he wrote on my order, went to their lab in the office and did everything they told me. 4 weeks later, I receive an urgent bill from Quest Diagnostics with a pretty high patient balance. Knowing that this can't be correct, I call UHC and ask why they didn't cover my routine lab works? As it turns out, Dr. G ordered way more than a routine lab work panel. After going back and forth with the (very nice) billing lady at Dr. G's office, she apologized profusely for this, never acknowledged the fault, but essentially told me there was nothing she could do about it bc it had already been performed. Of course I was upset about it! I then brought up why I had been charged every time for a routine copay? She looked into my account and said that this was incorrect and the office should not have collected my copays and initiated a refund for me. Thank you! But this leads me to question the office's front desks billing integrity ---which is a whole differs review. read more

I recently made an appointment at uptown physicians because I saw pretty good reviews online. When calling to make an appointment I was immediately directed to print online forms and fax them over with my ins before they would even consider looking at the books for an appointment time. I finished all the required forms and made the appointment but unexpectedly had to leave the state for a family emergency. I received a bill in the mail from them for a $250 no show fee! I called the office and spoke with the office manager (Barbra) she wouldn't help me by rescheduling the appointment and waiving the fee. This doctors office is apparently only money focused and doesn't care about the person. After I paid the fee they then asked me if I wanted to make another appointment... The normal no show fee for a doctors office is around $50-75. This doctors office no show fee is what a surgeon would normally charge. **Update:***after talking with the office about the 250 fee not being on any authorization form they were more than happy enough to work with on the charge.*** they were very pleasant after this. This summer will be 5 years that I've been seeing Dr Lee and his staff. I've had a few minor frustrations here and there, but I've never had any major problems or concerns with them. I always feel cared for and listened to. They've even provided me with other qualified health referrals when they were unable to provide me the best treatment for a specific issue. I certainly wouldn't trust my body and health to anyone else in Dallas! I highly recommended UPG! read more

Horrible scheduling experience with this facility. After calling to schedule a yearly checkup, I was told that my doctor no longer works there (of which I was never informed) and that before I could check appointment times I needed to fill out new patient forms online. When asked if I could fill out the forms prior to the appointment and bring them with me but still reserve the appointment time (since I was in the car), I was (very rudely) told I could not. The receptionist placed me on hold twice, for a total of 15 minutes. He then hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. I called back and he agreed to temporarily hold the appointment for 24 hours. Less than two minutes later, he very invasively called me again and asked what the appointment was for and what prescriptions I needed. I did not feel comfortable sharing my prescription information with him, but when I finally did, he said there were no longer any doctors that could refill prescriptions at my appointment, I would need to come in and get a referral first. This has never happened at any appointments prior and did not seem reasonable or efficient. I again asked for a supervisor and was told she is out of the country through next week. Rude, unprofessional, and the kind of scheduling experience that will result in me finding a new doctor so that I never have to call in again. Unfortunate experience because despite the receptionist's lack of knowledge and unprofessionalism, I had great experiences with my doctors here in the past. read more

Found on Google because offices are located less than five minutes from my flat, however they have the exclusionary policy of not accepting patients with healthcare plans from the healthcare.gov marketplace. Having recently switched to one of these UHC plans, I did not qualify. Also, the voice that informed me of this policy when I called was very condescending in tone. Save yourself some time and from having to talk to this human being if you have a marketplace plan or find these policies/practices to be a little elitist. read more

As a patient of Uptown Physicians Group for six years, I am surprised to see some of the negative reviews. When I moved to Dallas in 2009, this practice came highly recommended by friends. When I became a patient, my physician was Dr. Gene Voskuhl who I really liked. Myself and many other patients of his were sad when he moved on to a bigger role outside of the practice. A new physician, Dr. Donald Graneto, came on board and he has been great as well. I have never felt judged by him or felt like I was being talked down to and that is important to me when going to a physician. I'm not sure which of the doctors in the group some of the negative reviewers went to, but I've had to see a couple of them before and it was last minute and they were all honest and fair as well. The nursing and office staff are all very friendly, Ruben at reception is quiet but keeps check in moving quickly, which is nice because I typically come here at lunch when I have an appointment. I don't think I've ever sat in the waiting room for more than 10 minutes at the very most. My favorite Nurse is Ms. Rita. She's very kind and has a great sense of humor. This practice is not one to write whatever drug you ask for, unlike some other offices in Dallas, so that also may be another reason some reviews on here aren't so nice. The doctors and staff in this office are real with us patients, it's a fair exchange given that you can come to this office with whatever medical concern you have and not feel judged or like a completely irresponsible person. Sometimes the medical advice may not be what you want to hear, and while news may not be sugar coated, it is their professional opinion, and the physicians are all very experienced and have a wealth of knowledge. They may diagnose a condition but refer you to a specialist who has the latest training and knowledge of the latest treatments in dermatology, gastrointestinal medicine, cardiology, etc. I highly recommend this practice. If you are looking for a concierge who will validate your bad decisions, doctors who practically hand patients a prescription pad and let them write their own prescriptions, have no sense of accountability, or simply just aren't able to accept responsibility and follow a treatment plan as recommended, then you will likely not enjoy coming here for your health, wellness, and medical concerns. read more

I am hesitant to write this review, since I have not found another doctor office that takes my insurance yet. I have been in this office for care a few times. One of those times, I had to see someone other than my regular doctor. I felt very uncomfortable during the visit. The doctor I saw was Peter and he kept making comments that I took to have sexual undertones. It felt very unprofessional. I did not say anything at the time and thought maybe I was just not used to this kind of laid back care, but when I got down to my car, this man had also sent me a message on a dating app. My profile has my face on it so he definitely knew that he was messaging the person he had just cared for. I immediately called my friend and asked them if they had ever had anything happen like this and they could not believe me. I should have gone in to report it then but I didn't, plus it sounds like management is very retaliatory anyway. I cannot believe any healthcare workplace allows their staff to prey on patients like this. I feel so uncomfortable going back even to my doctor at this point. Please look elsewhere for care where you won't be sexually harassed. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. David M. Lee with UPG for nearly 10 years. Overall, I've had a great experience throughout the years with Dr. Lee and his team. Dr. Lee listens to my concerns with diagnosis and treatment as he feels necessary. He is genuinely concerned about my health and well being. I feel like I'm in very good hands with the quality health care provided to me by Dr. Lee. Everyone in the office is friendly.
