I was referred to UPG group by a friend of one of the doctors. Prior to my visit I arranged my appt. and information, and to my dismay and shock, the front desk person was exceedingly rude. I had issues pulling up there site online and when I called back he treated me as if I had the plague. I was given a coutrsey call 3 days befor emy appt. and I called to confirm and the other front desk person was just as rude if not more sarcastic. The day of my appt. I came in, and since I was slef-pay(non-insurance holder) i was going to be discounted on my dr. visit which was $80. Well it was $175 for the intial visit and lab work would be added and paid on leaving the appt. I sucked it up and paid. My appt. was just a memoriable. I waited 45 min. to be seen, and when the dr. came in it was not the one I originally requested. The dr, was rude and said "well you can have me or wait another day?" I obvioulsy should have ran for the hills. I told him my symptoms and pretty much didn't listen and made me feel as if everything was all in my head. He contnued to rush me and I finally said " I paid $175 and I waited ...you're listneing!" He wasn't to keen on this but he did stay....did he listen,, doubtful. I Left frustrated and still in the dark on my situation. The moral of this is...listen to your gut. $200 to be ignored....I could have taken my ex out and still saved &150. I have been very pleased with this office. They are organized, very thorough, and their communication is excellent. It's not easy finding a provider who proactively communicates about upcoming challenges (i.e., emailing all patients in September with preliminary information about 2017 exchange options while subsequently following up in later weeks to provide additional information needed for educated insurance procurement decisions). Everyone from the front desk to the labs to my great nurse that gives me a shot that I don't feel, they are all wonderful. I wish I could say I had a good experience here, but I have not. After several visits, I am constantly on the phone with the "Billing Department" that is disorganized, rude, and slow to provide any written documents or copies of charges. The staff, while some are personable, do not make up for the others, namely the guy who takes your vitals, who barely speaks to you, looks at you, and curtly gives you directions to follow. It was almost verging on rudeness. After being highly recommended, it took forever to get them to process my entry paperwork, and then my initial visit resulted in tests that were not covered by my insurance and ended up costing me hundreds of dollars. While my actual Dr. was clear and thorough, I felt like he was on autopilot and giving me the same speeches he's given before. I'm sure he has given those speeches before, but as a new patient, i was scared, embarrassed, and depressed. He made me feel worse. Appointment times are changed without notice, and scheduling is inconvenient, they will not work with or listen to any requests about work schedules, travel/traffic time, or anything else other than what fits their needs. I cannot recommend them, and will not be going back again. read more

Terrible practice policy. I called with a terrible stomach ache probably due to an ulceration or some sort of GI issue. I wanted to be seen right away, explained this to the receptionist and wanted to check the availability of an immediate apt and whether or not they accepted my insurance. The rude man they have as a receptionist told me that he couldn't assist me unless I had filled out some paperwork they had online. I briefly told him what type of insurance I had, which is nothing bad, by the way, as it is a PPO plan with a vast network, but he brushed me off and asked me to fill out the form. He wanted me to fax the forms, but having no fax, he reluctantly agreed to give me an email address for me to send the paperwork. I really don't understand who has a fax anymore, but whatever. I sent the first email and for whatever reason it bounced back. I called explaining what had happened, and this man was so rude to me, treated me as if I was an illiterate and pretty much told me that the address he had given me was the right address and if that didn't work for me there was nothing they could do, and I could just get over it and move on. I did attempt two more times to send the paperwork until on my third try it went through. I was already weary about the practice, but being the wife of a healthcare provider myself, I felt guilty of judging the practitioners by their front desk staff attitude. At this point, an entire day of stomach pain, acidity, reflux etc had gone by, with me navigating their stupid new patient policy. Today, the second day of the ordeal, I received a call from the same rude receptionist to let me know that they do not accept my insurance and wishing me luck. Wouldn't it be easier to spend another 5 mins with the prospect patient over the phone to first and foremost check if you practice is in network, before having them go, while in pain, through this entire ordeal? Really? this just made it totally clear in the case of this practice, it's all about the money, zero about patients' health and well being. Take your business somewhere else. A key element of being a good doctor is to have the appropriate staff and policies in place to help your patients navigate the healthcare system in the best way possible. read more

The front desk staff is incredible. The rest - well not so much. I left my doctor of 5 years due to his staffs rudeness and was recommended to go to Uptown Physicians Group last February. In the nearly 10 visits, I saw the actual doctor once. From then on it was his P.A. who while nice, never really listened to my concerns. It went downhill further when I received a statement in November for charges from March and April. The statement shows that the insurance paid the EXACT same amount as I was being billed. The statement shows nothing as far as what the charges are for. Just balance forward. When i inquired, I was told that was a carry over from their previous billing system. Finally after numerous emails through their portal questioning it, I received a call. She was somewhat friendly and stated that this was the way the system works and there was no statute of limitations on how long they had to bill me. Honestly as I get older, I want a doctor who takes the time to listen to my concerns and addresses them. I also want a doctor that has their accounting in order and doesnt bill for supposed charges 9 months later. If you are looking for a new doctor and dont mind these issues - in and out in 15 minutes - this is your office. If you expect more - stay away. read more

Moved here from Atlanta where my husband and I had a great physician. The staff here is beyond rude. I called in for a refill of a prescription for my husband who is bedridden due to a back issue and was told no problem, go to pick up said prescription and imagine my suprise the presciption was not there. I called the office where I get some rude person that tells me "oh you need to come in for a visit" I said no one told me that yesterday. the answer was "sorry anything else you need" click!! So I called back again where I get another person on the phone (mind you this is the same person the day before that told me the prescription was being called in) who then proceeded to tell me my husband has never been prescribed this medication (keep in mind I have the bottles with the date and doctors name on them) he keeps arguing with me and threatens to hang up the phone on me saying I am yelling at him (I am a retired Marine I know how to yell) I raised my voice to be heard over him for sure but NEVER once did I yell. Finally he acts like he is doing me a huge favor by finally getting the dr to approve the prescription when I tried to stop his self fawning over the huge favor he thinks he is doing me he again threatens to hang up on me. I told him the favor he could have done was call me in the first place. Horrible experience. And to top that off the Dr has only seem my husband once since then its been an internist that can only spend about 5 minutes with us. Always demanding a copay even though our insurance does not require one. We get sent bills that demand payment but have no explanation of services. Update: The morning after posting my review, the manager (Barbara) sent me a letter through their portal, firing me as a patient and indicating that I will no longer be treated by any physician at UPG. I called her in the afternoon asking her what was her decision based on. She told me the reason was because of my negative review. She literally fired a patient because of a negative review on Yelp on one of her medical providers, without calling me first to understand why I posted the review or to go over my experience and see how the services may be improved. I believe a professional and ethical manager would try to identify the cause of a problem and try to solve it or at least suggest I saw a different provider. Sadly, none of that happened. Literally just a letter, that is all I got! I asked her if she believed she handled that the best way possible and she was silent. Needless to say, this is completely unprofessional and unethical. Once again, as a Doctor myself, I know how these processes work and if any of us would fire any patient that had a negative review without even asking why that happened, things would be much different. I hope the owner of the practice can read this review and address the situation with Jason and with Barbara. I am certainly available to address any questions or concerns. I am exercising my freedom of speech, but apparently that is penalized at UPG, all because I declined a diagnostic test (which I have the right to do so). read more

Wish I could say I've had the experience that most seem to be having. I move to Dallas from Minneapolis, had a wonderful doctor in Minneapolis, who spoke highly of this office, and the staff in regards to transgender care. My old doctor knew about my job as a Flight Attendant, and so did these guys. Some times due to my schedule I cannot make appointments as I can be called out at the last minute. I tried scheduling a second appointment because I missed one back in April. Only appointment that I knew of, only to find out that I had missed another appointment that I never even scheduled, then to be told they will not be seeing me because they only allow 2 missed appointments. The office manager was rude and never even bothered to listen to me, if you have a policy that is like this maybe you should tell your new patiences about this which was never the case for me. If this is how this office is maybe I'm better not even going, I'd rather give my time and money to a doctor who has good front end staff that lets people know about things like this in the beginning. read more

Coming from out of town and looking for a doctor. Was referred to uptown by a friend. The staff was aloof at best. Rude at worst. All the website info was bull. They don't care about any patient unless you have private insurance, regardless of your ability and willingness to pay out of pocket. Very disappointing. read more

I saw Dr. Thresh, the dermatologist, for facial acne and the removal of a small mole. He spent roughly 5 minutes with me, seemed in a hurry to leave and snipped my mole off before heading out the door as fast as possible. They sent me home without so much as a band-aid, no stitches and with a hole in my back that was bleeding. It very quickly became infected, took forever to heal and left a dark scar on my back. So I was quite surprised when I received a bill for over $200.00 after paying my co-pay. The bill was supposedly for a biopsy and simple sutures to close the wound when they cut the mole off. When I went in for my follow up, the (extremely rude, uncaring) front desk staff tried to get me to pay my $40 co-pay as well as my invoice. When I questioned them about the charges, they kept repeating it was for my insurance deductible which they couldn't explain very well. When I pointed out the "simple suture" part and asked what it was, they told me it was for the stitches to close the wound. I told them I had been sent home bleeding, got infected and now had a scar and I was told that the money was simply for the biopsy. He absolutely refused to acknowledge what I was saying though I repeated it twice. The only reason this place gets 1 star is Dr. Grenato. He was kind and attentive and actually seemed to care about what he was doing. As much as I wish I could keep him as my primary care physician, there's no way I'm setting foot in this place ever again. read more

I decided to give Uptown Physicians Group a try back in December because I was looking for a family practice physician. I googled and read online reviews from multiple sources and narrowed it down to a few physicians. I called multiple offices to get an annual wellness exam and everyone was booked until the end of Jan 2016 except UPG. So I made the appointment with Dr. Donald Graneto after submitting paperwork. The office was very pleasant and welcoming. I was taken to the room 5 minutes before my actual appointment time. The MA proceeds to take my vitals and asks me a few questions. Then here comes the wait, I was in the room for over 30 minutes waiting for Dr. Graneto. I'm an ER nurse and I completely understand if there's a patient that requires more time, but someone could peek in the room and tell me that the Dr. is running a little behind. Dr. Graneto finally comes in and apologizes profusely for the wait. He then proceeds to introduce himself and begin the exam with a few questions. Dr. Graneto addressed my concerns and took my medical history seriously. Dr. Graneto is a very caring, kind, professional, and compassionate physician. His attention to detail and patient interaction definitely made up for the long wait. But here's the best part, Dr. Graneto calls me personally at 7pm two days later to go over my lab results. I've never had the doctor phone me for lab results which I thought was a very nice personal touch. I will definitely be returning to UPG for my care and will be sticking with Dr. Graneto. read more

After seeing doctors associated with Uptown Physicians Group for more than three decades, I never dreamed I would wind up writing a bad review about them. But the practice has changed a lot over the years. Recently, I arrived at my medication appointment 15 minutes late (the first time I ever recall being late), and I was told I would have to make a new appointment and come back another time. I couldn't believe what was happening. After all, I had waited long past my appointment time in the past without complaining about the delay. I told the receptionist I was a longtime patient, I had driven an hour from Cedar Creek Lake to get there, and I would not be coming back again. (I was recovering from ankle surgery, and I had went through a lot of difficulty and pain to get from the parking lot and up the elevator to the office.) The next morning I received an email from the office manager telling me no doctor at Uptown Physicians Group would treat me in the future because of a failure to "maintain a satisfactory patient to physician relationship." Then I received a copy of the letter in the mail. Then I received another email telling me I had missed an appointment and I would be charged a no show fee if I ever did it again. I called the office telling them to please correct their records because I had been late and turned away rather than my not showing up. Then the office manager sent me another copy of the letter firing me as a patient by certified mail requiring my signature to receive it. Dr. Henderson was a wonderful doctor, and now that he has retired and no longer a part of the clinic, I'm happy to have started a relationship with a new doctor closer to home. I was loyal to Uptown Physicians Group for 10 years after I moved away from Dallas, but the clinic did not remain loyal to me. It seems the clinic has become an assembly line for patients rather than the compassionate practice it once was. It's a little jarring to receive officious, arrogant messages from an office manager. When I first posted a complaint about it on Facebook several patients of the clinic criticized me. I thought maybe it was just me, and I deleted the comment. For everyone who continues to enjoy a good relationship with the clinic, I'm happy for you. That's your experience, not mine. read more

Uptown Physicians Group is fantastic. I've been a patient of Edison Leary with Uptown for over a year and I cannot say enough good things about him. His care and follow-up has been spectacular and is second to none. In fact, when I had a specific concern that made me particularly anxious, he followed up with me every couple hours over the course of several days. He went out of his way to go above and beyond!! This kind of care is very hard to find - but you will find it at Uptown. Edison Leary has been absolutely fantastic as has the rest of the staff there. I've always been treated very well by the friendly front office folks and the nursing and the medical assistant staff are exceptional. Also,when Edison was out of town, I also had the opportunity to see Marc Tribble and also Eric Klappholz. They were great as well. These guys are genuine and really care. They take the time to talk to you and understand what's going on. You won't be rushed through and no one is watching the clock. Thanks Edison and the entire Uptown team. Terrible terrible terrible. GET ORGANIZED FOLKS! I called because they were on my list provided by my insurance. Some guy answers the phone and puts me on hold, then never comes back. I call again, a different guy answers. I told him I would like to make an appointment. He wouldn't even discuss my situation or appointment options until I printed out their online paperwork, made copies of my insurance, faxed it to them, and when they verified my insurance they would call and discuss with me. As annoying and unconventional as it sounded i did it. I waited a day, never heard back. I called again, a guy answered and said he found my paperwork but they haven't gotten to it cause its first come first serve. I asked him an ETA he said it would be a few days. SCREW THAT. I called another doctor immediately got an appointment over the phone and told them what to expect as far as my issue. SIMPLE AS THAT! I called this office back and asked them to remove my paperwork and not pull my records. This girl that answered asked if I was a new patient I said I was gonna be. She said my paperwork was not in the new patient file. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! People seriously. Get it together. I had to call, print and fax just to wind up cancelling what I already could tell was gonna be a disaster. If you cant follow up to get a new patient, what makes me think you're gonna follow up if I have an emergency or lab results. Too many peas in one pod. read more

Uptown Physicians Group is great! I've been seeing Dr Lee for about 10 years, when I moved to Dallas, and the entire team is very helpful and professional. I've moved around the country a bit with my work, and this is one of the best care teams I've experienced. And their list of referral practices is very good too. I've recommended Uptown Physicians Group many times. The negative posts are very surprising to me; not at all what I've experienced. I had my last clinical visit with Dr. Graneto a few months ago. I left this visit feeling humiliated and angry. I had made this appointment to address a chronic cough, which remained 3-months after an acute bronchitis infection and also to address a persistent knee joint pain. I had to return to my previous doctor to have these health conditions addressed. Dr. Graneto spent most of the time of our visit berating and chastising me for having 2-glasses of wine a night. He also threatened to cut me off from prescriptions that I have been taking for more than ten years. So, if you want to be in the care of a practice that will get you in for an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, with minimal waiting room time, UPG is the place for you. Or if you think you could benefit from Dr. Graneto's "daily affirmation" app, or benefit from his amateur psychology propensity- then this practice would be appropriate and recommended for you, also. read more
