Ordered a roast beef sandwich. Get home and open up a dry construction of mystery meat, roll and some pickles. I asked if I might get a refund because it was nothing one would expect to get when ordering a cold roast beef sandwich. So I call requesting to speak to the manager. I was initially told the manager wasn't there. Then when I asked for the non present store manager's name so I could give this Yelp review. All of a sudden she (Lisa) is there AND all of a sudden they could refund me...if I drive the 'sandwich' back to them. All of this was done through one of the young men having to do all the talking with me while the 'manager (lisa) is doing all she can to avoid being a manager. Anyway, I politely told them (through their poor young employee) they unfortunately have lost yet ANOTHER customer. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews but this place wasn't it. They took over an hour to deliver only a couple of blocks up the street. The pizza looked and tasted stale, was too salty, and just overall wasn't worth the wait or money. It was $30 for a pizza that I could have picked up from Costco for so much less. Love uptown pizza co. It's our go to pizza place in the neighborhood. The only reason I'm taking off one point is because they can never get the potato wedges right. The first couple times we've ordered them they were burnt and inedible. The last time we ordered them they were almost raw. Not sure if they bake them or fry them but they're not great. First time trying this place...overall great pizza. Good flavor and plenty of toppings. We had the pastrami pizza and it was good. The only issue was some of the meat had a bit too much fat or nerve...kot sure what you would call that on pastrami...but is made it tougher to chew...I can see past that as it tasted great. The other pizza had so much cheese, it actually made a whole at the bottom center of the box. Probably a combination of how dense, warm oily the box got. Staff was friendly even though they seemed busy. There are a few chairs to sit there and eat but take out or delivery is probably your best bet. You can walk out with an uptown special so heavy, it would make your heart skip! Now?...not so much I spoke this place up to all my crew, made a special trip for that same uptown special, and damn did it disappoint. Excellent crust It's really rare for me to straight out and say a place is my favorite but this place has earned that title. On my first visit I noticed the place was the typical hole in the wall place located in small shopping square. As I entered I was welcomed very warmly by the staff and they answered all my immediate questions. My pie of choice was the "Uptown Special" and it was so delicious! The richness of the sauce was delicious on a thin but very tasty thin crust generously topped with veggies and meats. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and antipasta salad for delivery. I was staying 2/10ths of a mile away. It took over an hour! The pizza was good - on the verge of very good but it was a bit settled and just warm prob from the amount of time out for delivery. If this review were based only on taste I would have given it a 5 star with out a doubt. In my mind they make the best tasting pizza I have ever had. But this is a review of the entire place including some if the people who work there. Look they make a great pizza but their employees leave a bad taste in your moth. Plus I try and go there more often but they are closed more often than they are open and their times posted on line are difrent than their times posted on their window. Then when you call them their answering machine gives you an even difrent time of when they are open. Thanks to my fellow yelpers, I have returned after twenty years. The Uptown Special pizza is still one of my favorite pizzas. I love the ingredient combination but I really love the flavor of the crust and dough. Uptown Pizza used to be known as Lamppost Pizza back in the day. On payday, my father would bring home a Lamppost Special pizza (Uptown Special) which meant good times! When the name changed to Uptown Pizza, we all noticed there was a change in taste so we never returned. Recently, Yelp pulled up this place when I was in the area. The recent pizza photos brought back memories, so I decided to try it again. It felt like old times again. I bought a pizza for my parents, after the first bite my father said, "it tastes like Lamppost Pizza." Needless to say, I and my parents will be returning to Uptown Pizza. read more

I must say this is my new fav local pizza spot now. After looking up the number for this other local spot, I came across the reviews for Uptown Pizza. I've lived in Whittier for 4yrs, and I am just a walk away. I can't believe I've slept on this little spot! The first time I called in an order was 3wks ago and again we ordered from there this past week. We love pizza! Anyway, I recommend you ordered when you're not starving but with enough time to build an appetite. They usually give you an estimated wait time of 45mins-1hr for delivery, but they have arrived sooner both times. Either way, it's worth the wait! If you've ever had Rio's pizza in Montebello, I'd say they have a similar texture which for me it's considered great quality pizza. Forget Domino's and Pizza Hut! Lol...go order from Uptown Pizza. Tried Uptown Pizza for the first time today. I usually go to Brickhouse for all my pizza needs but today, being Super Bowl Sunday we wanted to try a new pizza spot! Wasn't expecting much from this pizza spot. Seemed small and uninviting, didn't sell by the slice, and I looked at their pizza and it had thick dough and I prefer NY Style pizza. So I ordered a small Specialty pizza. Ended up being really good and I hate doughy pizza.
