Up front: this is not a review of the food. My father, whose grandparents were Swedish Immigrants to New York, loves nothing more than making Swedish pancakes on Christmas. So, when we were walking down the street and I saw an 'I Love Swedish Pancakes' shirt, I knew I had to pick one up for him. When I walked in, it appeared that there was only one woman working the whole shop. As it was an early Friday morning, it seemed like it was manageable. She smiled and asked if she could help and when I mentioned the shirt, she immediately pointed over to a rack. I looked through and when I couldn't find my dad's size, I walked over & saw her manning the kitchen. I asked if by any chance they had any other sides in the back and she smiled & right away walked over to see what she could find. She did find the size I needed and I happily bought it. We had some small talk about why I wanted the shirt and it was just an overall lovely experience. Honestly, I wish we hadn't just eaten because I would've loved to try some of the pastries and food the offered. I guess I've got something to look forward to next time we're in the area. read more

Quickly stopped for a matcha. I saw they had Peet's coffee and to me that's a hidden gem. When I was in napa this was a hot spot. Service was great! Although the matcha ingredients tasted slightly different than my usual drink. Still pretty good. read more

So disappointed with the food. We ordered the Swedish pancakes, avocado toast with bacon, and the chorizo breakfast burrito. 0/5 The Swedish pancakes ($15) were awful. They were undercooked and doughy/runny in the middle. Part of one was all torn up and piled at the end of the plate. They tasted like a thin omelette with jam on top. There was no powdered sugar. We all tried it and no one wanted to eat them. Definitely a wasted $15. 1/5 The avocado toast ($11) was cold, untoasted bread with a bitter avocado spread that tasted pre-packaged. I added bacon for $2 and got two strips of very undercooked bacon laid on top. Overall it was edible, but not good. 3/5 The chorizo burrito ($14) was by far the best thing we ordered. Although, it was not anything special. It was quite greasy, but tasted fine. It was pretty small for the price and was missing the potatoes. We ended up all sharing the burrito. I wouldn't recommend eating here. Katy's Kitchen is a much better option in Kingsburg, especially for Swedish pancakes. read more

There are so many things to do there and this is truly an excellent example of a community gathering spot. The service is excellent, great attention to making sure customers walk away happy and full. I really enjoy the food here and love that DoorDash is an option -- it's such a convenient way to order. That said, it's been a little challenging to support the restaurant lately. A few weeks ago, I placed a DoorDash order and called right away to make a small change. I called several times but no one answered. The order was ultimately canceled because the restaurant was closed, but there was nothing posted online to indicate this. This past Saturday, I drove down specifically to get a cup of Pete's coffee and found a note on the door saying the restaurant was closed for the day. Instagram, Yelp, and Maps had all been checked beforehand and didn't show any notice of closure. It was frustrating to make the trip only to find out in person. This is a wonderful spot and such a unique option for Kingsburg, but consistent communication of hours and closures is critical for a business to thrive. Keeping online information up to date would make it easier for customers to plan visits and continue supporting the restaurant. read more

Such a cute place inside and out but it's an utter disappointment, the food and the service. Literally one person working at the time. The one person having to take orders, cook the food, and be a cashier- that's insane. Whoever owns this place needs to hire more staff.. I get it, You're trying to cut costs and labor is probably a big expense, but I will literally never go back after the experience I had today. Had there been more employees working I wouldn't have had to wait 45 mins for my food- especially when I called ahead 15 mins prior to that. And the food was just mediocre.. nothing special.. out of a lot of menu items, etc. definitely the owner needs to be in there working with the staff, and making sure the business doesn't sink. 7/29/23 Getting lunch for today and breakfast for tomorrow! BreaKfast panini with ham and Swedish pancakes ordered for breakfast tomorrow and chicken artichoke sandwich ordered for lunch. The worker was very kind and said it would be ready shortly. I went in to get it. Very cute place. Music playing and it's really comfortable, calm atmosphere. They have outside tables to eat at too! Shortly later the very kind worker said it was ready. Paid for the order and wished a good day! Along comes major disappointment! I'm not sure where to start. From now on I really need to remember to check orders before leaving! Opened up everything and there was only two, thin slices of deli meat in the breakfast panini. No egg. No cheese. Just that. The lunch, chicken artichoke paninis only had a few pieces of chicken in it. Lunchtime. Chicken artichoke sandwich split. It comes with chips too. My sandwich half was okay. The bread was fresh and good. The artichoke sauce was good too. Just major disappointment with only a couple pieces of chicken. Chips were seasoned, but not fresh. Tasted old. Bummer! Mother felt the same and said the chips were stale. I'm not going to add the breakfast tomorrow. I'll be making it better by adding my own eggs. The Swedish pancakes look okay. Good service and okay lunch and okay breakfast. They were busy! I get it, but paying $50 for those two meals(lunch & breakfast tomorrow) is definitely not worth it. Hope they learn and get better! Very interesting inside this place. It's a little kid's paradise with lots of things to explore. It could be a bit overwhelming to someone who's never been. The food I've tried has all tasted great. The breakfast burrito (chorizo & egg) tastes homemade in the best possible way. Their breakfast sandwiches are great also. The other morning I had the idea of going to a beautiful breakfast restaurant but we were a bit disappointed. The place was nice itself, however the food was iffy. The hot chocolate was def, definitely not milk based, & the other thing were the pancakes. They were super dry and the syrup would sink right into them. I'm not sure what kind of pancakes they were but they tasted more like a biscuit because of how crumbly and dry they were . Honestly it was a great place to go eat. I forgot to take pictures of the food just because it was that good but I have to recommend the pancakes, the breakfast quesadilla and the breakfast burrito! And if you love Pete's coffee like me they serve it here! Service was great. Very sweet and they want to give you their full attention. The ambiance is great. Very kids welcoming but in order to play inside with your munchkin you must be a paying customer! We'll be passing again real soon! read more

Please update your posted menu prices. Some of the actual prices charged were several dollars more than what was posted. I caught by surprise by being charged significantly more with no notice or mention that I was paying more. I thought the cashier made a mistake and let her know that she was charging more than what was posted. She informed me that prices for all food & beverage items went up and that the owner had yet to update the prices on the posted menu. I strongly recommend that Uptown Sprouts post a sign (there are many signs posted throughout the store for other notices) warning customers that PRICES HAVE INCREASED IN ALL FOOD AND BEVERAGE ITEMS and for customers to ask for the actual cost BEFORE being charged for the item(s). It is deceptive and hinges on being fraudulent not to advertise the actual price a customer will be charged. Overall, the ambiance was nice, relaxing, friendly, and accommodating. We enjoyed our tasty breakfast quesadilla, bagel and cream cheese, coffee and latte that was served to us directly at our table. read more

The ambiance is absolutely adorable and the staff friendly but the food was very underwhelming. Most especially for the price. I paid just shy of $40 for two meals and two bottled drinks. Had it not been for the drinks we would have had no way to quench the thirst the fries and chips that came as sides caused. I like salty but they were a bit over seasoned. The chicken strips definitely could have been done better. After a single bite the outer coating easily slipped off. Cutest lunch spot especially if you have kids! My friend and I were supposed to have a playdate and take our kids to the park, but it ended up being a rainy day but I'm so glad we came to Uptown sports instead!! The food and desserts were delicious! The service was amazing! The owner kept coming to check on us and even gave our kiddos little toys. It's hard to find that kind of service anymore! On our way to the Bay Area from LA and I wanted to find a decent place to eat that wasn't fast food. Found this gem. Really cute interior, esp for families with kids. My boyfriend and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and grilled chicken club (with bacon) - they both came with fries. The woman who prepared our food had a neck tattoo - I wish I got her name, but she did a great job. I recommend the chicken club over the fried chicken sandwich. I didn't try the desserts or smoothies, but they looked really good. I'll def be back since we make this trip pretty often. read more

Had lunch today at @uptown_sprouts in Kingsburg. We had the lunch special. Which was the Philly Cheesesteaks and it came with fries and a drink. The fries were a shape I've never seen before and were delicious. Well the whole meal was delicious. They have breakfast items, sandwiches, paninis and an assortment of pastries, smoothies and coffee drinks. It's a little of everything. For dessert... mini cheesecake. I added the strawberries when I got home. They had blueberry with whipped cream. Which looks delicious but I'm not a fan of blueberries. The mini cheesecake was very good. They have an area inside you can rent for parties and get together. And nice outdoor seating area to have some food and relax. Everyone there is SUPER nice. After lunch my bff, her 2 year old, and myself came to Uptown Sprouts because my friend had heard about it from IG and a mutual friend who has a son that loves coming to here to play. I would describe US as a cool mommy and me indoor hang out spot where moms (or dads) can let their little ones (ages 1-6) play with safe indoor slides, kitchen inside a camper, pretend fire made of pillows, trampoline, and a tabletop city while sipping on a beverage or maybe grabbing a small lunch here. One of the ladies here told me they usually have adult board games out too and that they also host paint nights. The back room may be reserved for meetings and the whole place can also be booked for parties and private events. My iced hazelnut latte was okay. Didn't get to try any of the baked goods this time around. Maybe settle for lunch here next time as well or a light snack. I really like the concept. Made me feel really relaxed knowing my Chucky was safe and also sanitary as they keep things neat and clean. The month of October was free, but rates start at $5 I believe. This place is very cute and has a great sitting area and lots of gifts and nice items. The staff was friendly and nice. However when we tried to order coffee the person at the counter did not know how to make their drinks and neither did the person tending to the store. This was very sad because we came in to get coffee drinks. I ordered a breakfast panini and the sandwich was cooked a little well done for my liking and the French fries were undercooked. The girl at the counter who is both the cook and the server did not have much knowledge of the menu and stated she had only worked here 2 weeks. There was no one to help her with the menu items or coffee drinks to give instruction. Overall it's a cute place with a great feel and I would give it another try. I think training is very important and there would have been $18 more on the pistachio coffee drink as well as a churro specialty drink we would have gotten had someone that knew the menu was working. Don't get me wrong, very nice people but she apologized for being the only one there and not being able to make what was on the menu. read more
