Cute little cafe located fairly close to Glendale Galleria. Per another Yelper's suggestion, my friends and I parked at Glendale Galleria (for free!) and walked 5-7 minutes over to Urartu. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and honey for sweetness. Taste-wise it was definitely on the lighter/milkier side, however I still got notes of matcha in every sip. My friends got the mango smoothie and the horchata latte - both were pretty tasty! I came here to get some remote work done and appreciated how much seating they had a available (Friday afternoon) and the accessibility of outlets. I did have some trouble staying connected to the wifi near the end of my time there, but I went ahead and just hot-spotted it. The good: This coffee shop is located in a perfect location! It is on a beautiful downtown street with outdoor tables, a giant Christmas tree, lights and festive garland wrapping the street lamps. I tried the "twist" coffee drink hot. It was mocha with espresso and caramel. I thought the name twist would indicate a more interesting flavor combination but I was okay with the classic flavor combination. I liked that it wasn't too sweet and that a puddle of syrup didn't develop at the bottom even after I let it sit for an hour (due to being outside and not wanting to take my mask off until I got into the car). Some mochas or caramel drinks definitely have sediment toward the end of the cup so I was pleasantly surprised that this one didn't. Outside of coffee, they sell cookies, pastries and Fanta in glass bottles (among other things). The bad: There is minimal street parking. There are public parking garages that are free for the first 90 minutes. The interesting: I was intrigued by the name of the coffee shop and didn't know its origins. Ignorant me saw the tan/orange wall texture and coffee sleeves art of a barefoot man in a tunic with wings thought it was Egyptian. Turns out, it's an ancient region that spanned ancient Armenia. The interior of the shop has furniture that you'd imagine would be in the living room of your auntie or uncle. It made it feel homier. read more

The last couple of times I've came to study and enjoy the cozy ambience, there is a crowd of Armenian grandpas who imperialize the coffee shop and leave no room for people to study, to make it worse they don't even buy anything and are quite rude, I'm Armenian and my grandpa is insufferable enough, I don't need it outside the family gatherings! However The soorj is very good and authentic. Edit: if that's so, then please inform your other regular customers that stealing chairs from other patrons as they use they use the restroom and talking obnoxiously loud over the music is quite rude to other people who support your business. read more

This was my first time and I will most definitely be coming back. The sitting areas are comfy and non-corporate, the very opposite of most places. Coffee was tasty and the staff was very friendly. This place is a must try, and my new favorite spot in Glendale! We were immediately greeted by Youra and his siblings, who created a warm and inviting experience for us. We learned that Youra's family had been running this shop for over 20 years - he had taken things over from his dad relatively recently. I could feel his excitement and energy for making this place incredible, and could tell he really loves what he does. Even though this place has been here for decades, everything was updated and extremely clean with a beautiful ambiance. I could totally get work done here for hours on end. I'm visiting my family in LA, and my sister took me this morning to this quaint little cafe in Glendale, short walking distance from her apartment. She was raving about how nice the owners are, and highly recommended getting their banana Nutella croissant. I said, "Giiiiiirl, you had me at Nutella and croissant!" So I ordered that and a mocha, and I gotta say, it was a match made in heaven! Pro tip: have a sip of the mocha after every bite of the croissant! One of my favorite local places. It's a family run coffee shop. But they make fresh croissants every day which are amazing. They have a fantastic breakfast sandwich on croissant which I crave often. This place is located in Glendale, it's kinda hidden but it's fantastic. The ambience is calm and quiet, people mostly go there to study usually, have meetings, etc. the service was fairly fast, and the nice women that took our order was very sweet and considerate. It appears to be a maybe family owned, but it gave greek style vibes, still pretty cool. Very nice and cozy place with great people working there (they were kind to give us an additional gatha as a gesture of hospitality). I really don't see how other coffee places (especially Starbucks with their burnt coffee beans) can compete with these guys. Adorable shop in a very nice location ! Found this placing driving by and looking on Yelp for a good place to have breakfast and saw they had great reviews, so I had to stop by and try it out ! The place is well designed but quite small.. When we ordered our food (a bagel and a waffle) the place wasn't too busy.. We sat down (a down side for the place being small the tables are a bit too close to each other in my opinion) My biggest reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because of the wait time .. We waited about 45 minutes until the food came and honestly I usually don't mind the wait when a place is very busy, but it just didn't seem there was a good enough reason for the food to take so long. My partner and I came here after a delicious lunch and needed a pick me up to prevent imminent food coma. The lady who helped us was professional and gave us a fairly good description of what all the coffees were. My partner got the mocha, and he thought it was one of the best mochas he's ever had. He was very (pleasantly) surprised and said that it seemed the barista made mocha the "right" traditional way--aka pouring espresso into real chocolate and making a mocha from that instead of powder mixes. The mocha was creamier than most places with a velvety texture, and had a slight caramel taste. It was too sweet for me, but I don't have a sweet tooth and my partner loved it just fine. I got the Yama cold brew even though I'm usually very picky with mine (I find most cold brews too acidic), but this was the smoothest, mellowest cold brew I've ever experienced without being a nitro. It had a very unique flavor to it (definitely no Starbucks) and was very pleasant to drink. I cannot wait to be back next time to try the Soorj, and I know my partner is on board for another mocha, so you bet we will be back soon! read more
