Save your time. Wasted 2 hours waiting for service before walking out. I have a feeling this place won't be around for much longer.

I went to Urban 42, on December 24th as I stayed the night at the Delta by Marriott. I was impressed that they were even open due to it being a holiday. I had a Caesar Salad and Bacon Mac & Cheese. Both items were delicious, I believe the salad dressing was homemade and it was mouthwatering, the pasta was creamy and cheesy, it was made with corkscrew noodles which is one of my favorites and it was topped with bacon and bread crumbs for a little extra added crunch. The restaurant was clean and very nicely setup and the wait staff were very polite. I would definitely recommend this place and I will for sure go back to try more of the items on the menu! read more

The food is actually quite good and they have a solid bourbon selection. However, the service is so uneven...so much so that it really starts to piss you off...After 10 visits it's basically a trend so a 2 star is what it is. I travel to Fargo weekly for business and this happens to be the bar / restaurant in the only full service Marriott in the area. When I'm at the bar and the bartender decides to "hold court" with his peeps at the other end or walks by me a few times without asking what I would like...I have a problem with that. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, a true appreciation from someone who travels a lot. Service has been fantastic, ask for Brenda she is so courteous and really interested in making your dining experience a true pleasure. Breakfast menu and food is fantastic. read more

I go to the Urban quite often on Thursday evening because I really enjoy the music. Also the other customers are very friendly and nice to visit with. I seldom leave negative reviews on any place, but last evening the service was so bad! I just had to say something. I sat at the bar and received my beverage quite timely. Then it was 45 minutes plus when I finally had to flag someone down for me to request a menu. Then another half hour and finally another customer hollered at a staff member to let them know that no one has taken my order. Even though I had the menu laying there by me at the bar for at least a half hour. Again the customer was very nice and friendly. Btw, that customer sat close to me and arrived 20 minutes after I did and they had already ordered and were eating their food. When I received my food, the steak was cold and the baked potato was undercooked. Maybe I was just so "peed off" at that time, that nothing was going to be right?! I just don't get it ! When you walk into a place, why can't you simply get served ?! I'm not a happy customer ! I may go back, but I probably won't eat there again. What were these people thinking? read more

Bar service only review.... We were in town for a wedding and the bar servers were great remembering people's drinks, matching us up to our tabs, and being attentive to everyone as they stepped up to the bar to order a drink. They worked well as a team and were pleasant and efficient. Made our experience fun! read more

Stayed at the Delta for work and wanted some breakfast. Stopped at the restaurant attached to it! First off I'll say the decor and spaciousness is amazing here! I don't know much about the bar or dinner options as this review is simply based on breakfast. The restaurant had 3 servers and about 7 guests. Service was slow to get orders taken and then to get bill or refills I had to find them. It's not the end of the world but one of those little things that are up! Got my omelette and liked the price for make your own at $13. See picture below for final product. The omelette was way over cooked and dry due to it. I didn't have time to send it back so are it and not a lot of flavor. The hash browns were great with there herb seasoning. Not sure I'd do the breakfast there and my next stay I'll try the dinner as I said the bar area is beautiful and they have spent some money on the place. However breakfast was not a hit! read more

This restaurant is inside the Delta Hotel in Fargo ND. I gave it a very low ranking simply because they are never open. At a time when most business are open, we have yet to find it serving in a week of staying at the hotel. I can't attest to how the food looks or tastes but I can say that the dining room environment would not be inviting even if they served the best food in the world. Incidentally, there is also a bar and a Star Bucks inside the hotel, but have yet catch find it open, either in the morning or evening. Common America, it's time to open up again! read more

To start with positives, I'd like to point out the outstanding service at Urban 42. From the warm welcome to the care of the server we were lucky to have, the actual service experience was worth 5 stars. The bar is nice as well and bartenders super friendly. However, a restaurant rating isn't solely based on service or drinks; and this place is definitely not recommendable for its food. I went for dinner with a few friends and not only did it take close to 40 min for us to have our food, but it was pretty bad. The restaurant section was empty on a weekend night which should have been a warning sign. Yet we were given the one table by the kitchen with tons of carts being pushed in and out. This is the first restaurant that I have been to where the servers recommend NOT to try some dishes. Following their advice, we tried acceptable options, which were really below average, and overpriced. The location is great, decoration is really nice, but the food is just not good. So in a few words: go to Urban 42 for drinks at the bar! read more

There's a reason this place is rated as low as it is. Bartender was horribly rude. I get that with a busy bar. This was not.

We ordered steak, pasta and a burger. All of them were great. Fun atmosphere, good service and fairly priced. The steak was done to my specification. Pasta was a good portion - not a huge bowl, but enough to take some home with us. The burger bun tasted fresh and the veggies were crisp. read more

Visited with a group of 6 on a Monday night. Not busy at all. We had a great server (who brought my friend a free small birthday dessert); we appreciated the specials; and we thought the flavor of the bread was really good - even if it was a little tough on the outside. Menu selection was small/average for a newer restaurant. We were upset that the burger came out with the wrong cheese, and without bacon or french onions (the included toppings for a $15 burger). The fries that came with the burger tasted exactly like McDonald's fries to me, which isn't a bad thing, but those are like a dollar. The vegetarian pasta tasted microwaved, had a strange texture, and overpowering pine nut flavor. My meal was $25 before tax/tip and, now... I'm a big girl, but I left hungry. It consisted of 4 average-sized pieces of shrimp, glazed in a barbecue sauce I didn't care for, on top of 4 cheese raviolis (no sauce on these which seemed odd...actually kind of an odd combination to begin with - shrimp and cheese). Then there was a small garnish of cooked spinach on top of which was quite good. I didn't personally like the hotel side makeover from it being The Ramada. There's SO much gray and it feels kind of jail-like when you first walk in. The restaurant is better, with some actual warmth, but it doesn't match the entryway of the hotel. I don't want to be too hard on them, because I know they haven't been open long, maybe had some newer staff, and could make some simple changes to at least get on the playing field, but they definitely need some work. Since it became Urban 42 (Marriott) it has declined significantly. It's staff, drinks, menu, timeliness, and even general ambience are all very poor. It use to be under the Ramada's management and it was a reliable, good service solid menu destination. Sadly I have been there several times over the last couple years and it consistently poor service and pointless menu. My explanation of poor service: is that on multiple occasions we have waited upwards of 34-45 minutes after putting in our entrée orders until our food came. When you ask for more water, more napkins, or condiments it takes 10-12 minutes to come out. Each time I have been there the food comes out basically cold. Standard dishes seem to be made with the most basic of ingredients and absolutely lacking flavor. Each time we have gone they've been out of several things on the menu which reduces their already small menu to even less items. read more

First we made reservations and they didn't have any record of it. Then we sat down and try to talk and all we here is jack hammering - remodeling upstairs. We could hardly hear each other talk. Great steaks...delicious and moist! The crab whiskey bisque soup that they have everyday is flavorful and mouthwatering. Happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4-7 is awesome. The restaurant atmosphere isn't as formal as Basies...so it's easy to kick back, have a few drinks, and eat a wonderful dinner. The drinks are reasonably priced as well. Been staying here for most of a week, and I have seen some awful things. On Wednesday one of the managers? harassed the bartender in front of the whole bar, and on Thursday I was informed that the whole bar staff walked out. The woman covering was beyond unprofessional, was very rude to me. Tonight we had some of the barstaff return, Cat and Alyson took the best care of us they could but it was obvious they were overwhelmed. Didnt even bother ordering food. If you want to wait 50 minutes to have your drinks brought over to you and your medium rare steak fully cooked then this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay away from this madhouse. Which is disappointing because the Delta Hotel that hosts this joint is great. Came here for a 2-day work function, so we had a group dinner in one of the private rooms and oh boy, were we in for a disappointment. We had 12 people in our party and we only had 1 waiter assigned. ONE! For 12 thirsty and fat railroaders! I'm no hospitality industry expert, but for that many people in a private room there should be a minimum of TWO waiters ensuring everyone's need is met in a timely fashion. First it took the guy 20 minutes to just show up and start taking our drink orders (I had to go hunt him down). 15 minutes later he comes back empty handed to apologize because "everybody else in the restaurant ordered their drinks at the same time." So the F*** what??! At this point me and a few others that could not tolerate the situation went to order drinks directly from the bar, and then the situation became a bit clearer. 4 guys "manning" the bar with what seemed to be ADD on steroids who just bumped into each other without accomplishing anything. It took us another 10 painful minutes to get our drinks from these dummies. Finally 50 minutes after we first sat down, the first round of drinks arrived. WOW. Overall most of the food was not bad (better not be as they charge a pretty penny for it). The steaks however, were pathetic. Several people ordered medium rare and most of them came back over cooked to the point that a few were sent back. At this point it was just comical witnessing the incompetence of the staff in this place. I mean a trained monkey could manage this place better. We proceeded to eat and drink as fast as we could so we could go in search of better pastures for the rest of the night. STAY AWAY. This place sucks. No other way to put it. read more

Extremely poor service. It wasn't very busy but it still took over a hour to get our food. Even trying to get drinks while we waited was a pain. You had to literally flag down one of 4 bar tenders even after standing at the nearly empty bar for 5 minutes. Nice atmosphere to begin with. Then the band started. Seems like a great bar but not what I expect from a Marriott dining room with full menu. Stay away from the flatbread unless you like warmed up precooked with cheese sprinkled in top. Showed up just warm and looking fully cooled with the exception of the layer of unmelted cheese. Food was good, but service was terrible. For being such a fancy restaurant I'm highly disappointed. After ordering my food, and receiving my appetizers, 30 minutes later our server came back to let us know that they didn't have the dish we ordered. So we changed our order and took ANOTHER hour to recieve our food. It wouldn't have been such a big deal since we're ordering drinks but the server never came back and asked if we wanted another round or update us on our food. Will never be coming back. read more

We used to love the steaks when this restaurant was called Basie's. We came back and were nervous due to reading some of the reviews. I think that the steak was nearly as good but now includes sides versus the ala carte menu that used to be offered. My husband and I think that the remodel is a positive update. You no longer feel like you are eating in a hotel but a regular restaurant. The service was great! Our server was Lauren and she was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Went to dinner at 7pm on a Wednesday and they were out of everything I wanted to eat from soup to the Stuffed Chicken, even the beer I wanted. Very unimpressed and so I tried to order a pizza that they apparently have at the pool and was told I can't order that from the bar or everyone would order it and we would run out. Isn't the point of a hotel restaurant to accommodate the guests? Even the waitstaff seemed to not care. Sad that I wasn't able to spend my money in the hotel where I was staying I always held Marriott to a higher standard but this was a complete dud. read more

Enjoyed Sunday brunch. Fresh fruit, made to order omelette, French brulet French toast and much more. Excellent service!

The breakfast is great, coffee is hot. I had the walleye hash and the wild rice egg Benedict. I would recommend both to anyone, although the wild rice was the better of the two. Service is prompt and pleasant. The restraunt is in the hotel which is normally a bad omen for me, but it was worth it. I would recommend this relaxing breakfast eatery to anyone. read more

Even changing the decor won't stop this restaurant from a slow death. Party of 6, arrive at 6:15 pm. 10 others in entire restaurant. Sold out of meatloaf, sold out of bisque (only soup on menu) and ran out of blue cheese! Seriously. Ordered at 6:25, salads came at 6:50, told the waitress our movie started at 7:40. Told manager at 7:20 and he said would check and get back. Never came back. At 7:30 we left. No food and no one around. Left enough on table to pay for salads, two cokes and an NA. Never again. Dined here with a group of 6 recently on a Friday evening. Other than patrons at the bar this place was absolutely desolate. The menu seemed limited but that is typical of places that are towards the fine dining end of the restaurant spectrum. The prices were reflective of that as well but not unreasonable. The space had recently been renovated so the decor is fresh and modern. The food itself was just okay. We ordered the pork belly and tater tot poutine for appetizers. Both were good. For our entrees 3 of us selected filet mignon, 1 ordered a burger, another the meatloaf, and someone chose the mac & cheese. The steaks were cooked according to our requests but were under seasoned. The meatloaf dish was probably the tastiest of all our meals. The burger and pasta dishes were okay but a bit on the dry side. Our server was very knowledgeable about drinks and food and was attentive. I really want to see this place succeed. It's in a good location and the dining space is pleasant. But they've gotta make some improvements with the food. The quality of the ingredients is there but the taste needs to be kicked up a few notches. read more

Unfortunately the salmon tartar had so many onions in it that onion is all you taste. Plus it was served over a mash of avocado that was basically brown. I tried to pick through it and only eat the salmon but still only tasted onion. It wasn't too expensive but still not worth the money. I've eaten here before when I stayed with the kids. I dont give 5 stars too often, and maybe based on the other reviews, i lucked out. We arrived late, after 9. Great service, wonderful food. We had the steak frite, thought the sirloin would be tough, but it was like butter. Also had the bison meatloaf, with mash potato and the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. WHO thought bacon and grapes sauteed together would be so good? They are! I would eat here again if I lived here, sadly I don't. Ask for Anthony for really god service. read more

Bring back Basies! This establishment bills itself as a gastropub. I am so over gastopubs and sports bars. It is located in the Delta by Marriott Hotel (formerly the Ramad). First let me start off with the positive. Our server Loren was attentive, informative, and knowledgeable. Now for the not so good. With all the hard surfaces in the room, it was overly noisy with the background music and TVs going. The filets my dining partner and I had were prepared to specifications; however, they were advertised to be prepared with a rosemary and cab-sauv sauce, which was not evident at all and the roasted garlic mashed potatoes were lacking in the garlic department. Now the bad. Aside from a restaurant's food tasting good, the next thing a chef must do is plate and present the food well. The plating was fine; however, the use of the black tiles as 'plates' does the chef and servers a great disservice. They do nothing to enhance the appearance of the food and can potentially create a mess as any juices or sauces have nowhere to go except run off the surface of the tile. read more

Time has moved on. The ill advised remodel is the same as two years ago. Big difference. Employees have brought vibrant smiles and the place has quality life. So interior has life Monte is back a very friendly greeter to true hospitality. Best and that can not be competed against... best by far best Sunday brunch in Fargo not even close. You see. Eric Watson is the head bottle washer... (chief) and in charge. so food that is out of this world and so consistently great. Yes that is right he is at Urban 42. So if you liked Rustica! or his other creation of Mezzaluna than. Join everyone. Best Sunday Buffet not even a contest... Eric Watson has a French toast Creme Brûlée. You'll want more even before you leave. today four meats all cut with a fork. So tasty tender a tongues ultimate delight...so all the employees have reason to smile and serve you with joy. Oh boy oh boy. The food is fabulous. Morning noon and night. Chicken was so tender and moist. Beef pot roast flavored to everyone's palette. Wonderful ham. Fruit and salads just fabulous. Pasta bow tie pea salad was to die for. asparagus salad tremendous. I know last year the valley was fooled into giving honor to spot across the avenue. That place is running rough at best. If you want value for the money you've spent no joke. Get over toUrban 42 it is undoubtedly where the talent is and if your are interested in buying great taste and good food shake hands with Monte as you take your seat. When your finished with your cannoli you will know you've enjoyed the best Sunday brunch in town that can't be beat. My hats off to all of the staff. Special. By far the worst meal I have ever been served. I am not a picky person and have suffered through many sub-par meals, but tonight's service was so bad I could not eat it. And it wasn't just my meal, my two dinner mates had equally awful meals. To start, the server was unaware of shortages in food that caused items on the menu to be unavailable. The time it took to get simple answers about menu items was unacceptable. We finally ordered and had to wait over an hour for our food. When it arrived it was cold and over cooked. The bbq shrimp was rubbery and lukewarm with ravioli that was dry and tasteless. A chicken sandwich arrived with tough, dry chicken and no sauce. The bread was dry and crumbly, there was now way it could have been eaten as served. The Parmesan fries were plain and cold. When we asked to speak to the manager the server went to get him but he couldn't be bothered to come see us. Our food was comped but I would definitely not recommend eating here. The beer was fine, if we hadn't had it the experience would have been much worse. read more
