My husband and I took the 2.5 hr bike tour and loved it! The bikes were in great shape, the guides were friendly and informative and I would highly recommended this to anyone interested. They are well organized and professional.

What a wonderful place! From the moment I arrived the staff were waiting with bikes ready, water & restrooms offered, and personal helmet fitting! They were very organized and efficient in helping the whole group depart on time. Not to mention they were all handsome, over-fifty men assisting us! (married, alas!) So, women, this is the bike tour for you! I was part of a group who enjoyed a city tour with bike leader Gary. I had never been to Boston nor had most of the riders in my group which included: a businessman from London who had just ridden a leg of the tour de France, an overseas educator from Nigeria, a local college student, a young couple from New Orleans, and two medical students and myself, here for work from Texas. So not only was it a bike tour it was a really fun social encounter. In three hours I was able to visit areas of Boston I could never explored on my own - nor would I even have known about them! Gary's knowledge of history, architecture, art and even city planning made it so fun. After the Gary's enthusiasm for the area I found myself wanting to move here! That probably won't happen, but now I know Boston is a fun place to return to, with so many areas to explore further, and I can't wait to return! Thank you everyone at Urban AdvenTours for making my first day in Boston so much fun!

WHAT AN ADVENTURE!!! Booked this tour the night prior thinking it sounded fun. Once there I realized I had NOT rode a bicycle in YEARS (like a lot of years!)!! Lucky for me, Bob and Michelle were the best tour guides and assisted me with my tantrum. 2 bikes and about 10 "I give ups" later... we were onto one of the best experiences (on a bike) I've ever had. We enjoyed the city, it's beautiful architecture, along with detailed historical facts! Ken was our third guide who recommended we take the harbor tours to have a different experience. All 3 guides were fun, helpful, and accommodating! Highly recommend this tour when in Boston. From here on no more bus tours for us! ***I also got the most improved rider sticker. Yes everyone knew I was going to potentially crash, fall off my bike, or run over someone. Glad to say none of that happened, whoever I did almost run over two geese and an elderly lady. They thought we were an experienced group of riders... but they didn't count on me peddling away lol! Don't worry, by that time I had learned to use my breaks and WE all SURVIVED! Haha

    Road ready..!!

Haven't had my bike out in a while so I called to see if they were open due to Corona Virus Shutdown and Alex (I think) answered. He was polite and told me everything I needed to know to get my bike tuned up. I drove in, and walked up to mythe front entrance with my bike. They had me fill out a form with what I was looking to have done and then also talked to me about the process. Very easy and all of the staff were very polite and friendly. Got a call within less than 24 hours saying my bike was ready and I can come pick it up. I went down and got it. Checkout was easy and I was also looking for some accessories which they helped me with. Thank You for getting me back on the road!!

I was told to come back tomorrow. I tried calling the next day, but nobody answered the phone so I showed up they didn't remember me. I told him I had purchased a scooter yesterday with my coworker, and then they went to look for it and they said it still wasn't ready and they needed to charge it . I came back the following day called again. No answer showed up didn't know who I was again reminded him an went to get my scooter ready for me to take one problem, though there was no charger with the brand new scooter. He could not find it. So he gave me a charger from behind the counter fast forward to today, May 5, 2026. I tried calling again no answer so I drove in. Doors were locked. Lights are on went to the front and back entrance. No sign of anyone one last check I see the guy who sold me the scooter in the window. I motion to him to come over. He comes over. he lets me in. I tell him about my scooter, he tells me to bring it in. I told him the back brake is no longer working, and my rear tire was making a grinding noise. He told me I could leave it to fill out my information before leaving. I asked him when he thought somebody would be able to take a look at it and he told me about a month. He stated the technician wasn't in today and that they had a backlog of scooters that needed to be repaired, which he pointed to in the corner and then told me there was multiple down in the basement of the same model. I told him that wasn't an option for me to wait over a month and that the scooter is still under warranty for another five months he tried to refer me to a scooter shop in Cambridge, which I live nowhere near and not paying for something that was under warranty. I then asked him what to do and he told me to call Segway the scooter company. And then again referred me to the scooter shop in Cambridge, which I had to reiterate that was not an option and I am not paying for something that is still under warranty. I asked him for Segway's number which he told me he did not have and to "Google it". My only dealings with this place twice have not been good and not the best customer service to say the least. Scooters were $1100 with tax and are under warranty for another five months and they are telling me I have to wait over a month to even get it looked at. Unacceptable!

Because my bike is…read morex-small, and has disc brakes, it's tricky, which has stopped me from just buying something on Amazon. Believe me, I've looked! But now it's summer and I had the day off and so I finally decided to get something done. I did my research, including looking at the Urban Cycles website and calling ahead to make sure the items were in stock. The guy on the phone said they could install the items for $20, but that it was essentially walk-in for that kind of service. (They make appointments for tune-ups and such.) He said it could be two hours or it could be a day. Maybe even overnight. Because I was riding there, I was wondering how I would get home without my bike for a day. Walk? Take the T? I feel naked without my wheels!. Regardless, I told the guy I'd be right there. He said, c'mon in!! When I got there, two guys both helped me through the process of figuring out what I'd need for the installation. Their prices are clearly labelled (and by-the-way lower than Amazon). They said take a walk and come back in an hour. I walked over to Hanover Street in the North End -- very close! -- and had an Italian lemon icee. By the time I got back, my bike was ready. The back rack with basket is amazing. It will change my life. I already stopped for groceries on the way home! The guys at Urban Cycles are fast, efficient, professional. The store itself is full of great stuff and there's more behind the scenes. It's a biker's dream. I *bike* Boston!

Then, you get all the 30 minute or less rides you can handle. If you ride for longer than 30 min, you get charged up the wazoo, so be careful! I was disappointed that there wasn't an app for the bikes, like many other civic bike rental companies have. An app that shows you how long you have until your time runs out, where the next kiosk to return the bikes is at, and how many bikes are available would be nice. Since there's such a penalty for riding for more than 30 minutes, it'd be nice to know when you're getting close. I did a total of three rides. On each ride, each bike was messed up. Usually it was the derailleur for the gears, making it difficult to shift. On another bike, the brakes were stuck in the 'on' position, making it difficult to ride. They could use more maintenance on these bikes. But I still had fun, there are 3rd party apps that are unofficial Hubway apps that tell you where the next place to return the bike is. However, there needs to be a LOT more places to rent/return bikes before this becomes a reliable way to get around the city. Why aren't there more hubs in places where they need them?!
