It arrived via door dash excellent delivery and kind driver. I opened my food and the SPICY SMELL was literally unbearable. I then started thinking maybe I am being sensitive. I cut a piece and tried to eat it and almost choked from the pepper. REMEMBER I am originally from NOLA so SPICY Is my forte. I immediately called the store and was asked if I wanted to come in or get a refund. I requested a refund than the cashier says " I don't know if we can do that so let me check. I waited a few minutes, then I continued to wait , then I hear staff laughing in background, then someone says "ISN'T THAT WHAT SHE ORDERED" at this moment I became frustrated. I had been busy all morning and needed to sleep for work that night. I headed to the store and you would not believe once I arrived at the store, the cashier was helping customers, and the PHONE WAS OFF THE HOOK by an unoccupied cash register. I immediately requested the manager in a calm tone. The manager VERENICE arrived at the front counter and greeted me. I was so furious so the first thing I did was show her my phone and the phone off of the hook. I was on HOLD for 24 minutes see picture below. She proceeded to apologize and attempted to explain they the call was missed. I further explained that DOOR DASH prices are higher so offering a person to come in the store is not the bet alternative. I ordered DOOR DASH for a reason and it is a huge inconvenience when I have to arrive in store to correct a worker's mistake. SHe understood exactly how I felt and offered a solution. I also requested for her to smell how hot it was as well. She proceeded to tell me they are using a new seasoning and she believes the person put too much. My rebuttal was you have to be more careful in preparing food like that for a customer knowing there is a difference. I know you may be confused at why would I still give them 4 stars because as the MANAGER she listened to constructive criticism, offered a solution and made sure I was satisfied. I believe it is very important as a REVIEWER to be honest and fair while also telling the truth along with offering a the solution. Whomever is the owner of this franchise I am sure you may be disappointed with the "24 minute hold time" but you should be more proud of having a manager in place who does damage control and encourages the customer to return for a better experience as well as fix the food again. read more

My review is only for the corn. It's garbage. It got all the fixings that street corn is supposed to have but this ain't it playa. The instant I tasted it I was oh nah, this them white ppl corn. Y'all know what it mean. When white folks take other cultural dishes and make into their own and you're like wtf is that? I did not like how the corn was cooked. It was like it was roasted on an open flame because I see burnt ends. It took away the plump sweet crispiness of the kernels. On top of that there were some bitter parts due to the way it was cooked. I had mine with Nashville hot heat and it was medium heat but some of it could overwhelm ur palette and dismiss any other flavor that's their. I'd get this again tho but with a diff heat level. We also had the tender basket with the sweet potato waffle fries and these things were sooo good! Fries were crispy and had a slight amount of salt on them, I mean they were pretty good. The tenders however fell a little short because they were pretty dry. So if I had to base it on this style of chicken I would say cook shack is better. I got the Thai fries, and they were so yummy. They were a bit sweeter than I'd like but great none the less. Thai food tends to be on the sweet or spicy side, so I had an idea of what I was getting. It's great to have a solid hot chicken spot in Katy! Urban Bird immediately caught our attention the other day. We decided to order the tenders sando, which is a toasted brioche bun with 2 jumbo tenders, kale slaw, bird sauce, and pickles (which I removed). The overall sandwich was very flavorful and exactly what we were craving! What stood out to me the most was the bun. The brioche bun was delicious, and its mild sweetness combined with that of the kale slaw went extremely well with the savory, spicy chicken flavor. In terms of spice, there are 5 levels at Urban Bird: country, mild, Nashville hot, xtra hot, and fire in the hole. We tried the Nashville hot as it is right in the middle, and it was actually not super spicy. Compared to Mico's sammich in Houston, it was much more mild than the medium. Next time we will most likely get the xtra hot just for that extra kick. The only thing we would change about this sandwich is the quantity of sauce. While I did enjoy the bird sauce, I would prefer about 1/2 the amount that was on there. In the future I will most likely ask for 1/2 sauce! The sweet potato waffle fries were very tasty and a great deal with the large amount given for $2.50. read more

I was in the mood for hot chicken, and boy oh boy did this hit the spot. I got the chicken and waffles at the "beautiful burn" level, and I still felt like it could've been hotter! I consider myself having average spice tolerance, so I think if you love you some spice, go crazier than "beautiful burn." Overall, every aspect of the meal was divine. The chicken had a super crispy coating with a great amount of seasoning and flavor (although, like I mentioned before, could've been spicier). The waffles themselves were fluffy and was able to stand on its own against the chicken. The tastes met and formed a beautiful cohesive flavor. The butter and maple syrup was EXQUISITE with the chicken and waffles, and really balanced out the spice levels of the overall dish. Overall, this is a super great place to eat out, and bonus, their outdoors seating has a roof over it, and was generally super clean. I really love the chicken here! My husband and I often get the tenders basket for us, on mild level (which is level 2) and it's slightly spicy. I wanted spicier once and went one level up and boy did they burn. It was a great, slow burn with lots of flavor, but it was just a tad too much for my lips. Lol. And I thought I could do spicy!! The tenders basket comes with two large pieces of crispy chicken tenders and a ton of well seasoned, crunchy caterpillar fries (Crinkle cut fries?) And a dipping sauce that's great. The kids' meal comes with one "unseasoned" chicken tender (no spicy) and a ton of seasoned fries. Sometimes the kids like the seasoning and other times it was too much...we shake off what we can those times and they dip their fries in ketchup and it's fine. Their meal also comes with a drink and a custard at the end, so it's well worth the price. The crisp of the chicken and fries also hold up when ordered to go, which is surprising. This establishment is such a scam. I am updating my review because I was completely lied to and taken advantage of. On December 11th, I ordered two meals of the hot chicken with no heat and an extra chicken strip on each that I paid for. If you look in the pictures, you can see that I received two strips in each basket, that were extra hot along side some smashed up tater tots. When I called up there at 9:14pm on the 11th to let them know of the mistake, I was informed that it was all good and that the next time I decided to order, that I would be given the two correct meals I ordered on them. Which was super cool and very nice. The manager was very respectful and helpful. He took my information and told me to just let whoever answered the phone know my name and I'd be taken care of. Now, jump to today, December 27th @7:42pm, I call up to act on my previous action and I'm told by a different manager she won't honor anything because they apparently fired that other manager and she does not see my name in her book. Even after I explained everything, all she said was that she would give me a comped one meal but not honor both. TBH, it is really disappointing that business like this treat customers like they do. It is truly unfortunate that they take advantage of customers. I gave them a chance to make things right and they chose not to. I highly do not recommend this restaurant.
