I ordered three flavored donuts that happened to be seasonal, and they were absolutely incredible! You could really taste the freshness, and they stayed fresh throughout the entire day. I love mochi donuts! I wish more places made them cuz they are my favorite type of fried dough. We were next door getting boba and I wanted to pop in and see what flavors they had. We had the place to ourselves and I perused their display case. They had some interesting flavors and I only wanted 3, but their menu prices reflected 6 or 12 ($18 and $30 respectively). I asked if 3 would be $9, and the employee said yes. I chose their ube, Vietnamese coffee, and black sesame with raspberry. Other flavors included gochujang caramel, almond joy, churro, and blueberry crumble. It was hard choosing flavors cuz they all sounded great. I was rung up for 3 single donuts ($3.50 ea) and asked if that was correct. The employee said yes, as only the half dozen and dozen are discounted. I was tempted to get another 3 donuts but decided against it. We sampled the donuts after finishing our early dinner and the texture was spot on: light, chewy, and delicious. They're so fun and easy to eat too; you can pick off the balls and share them (if you want). Each of the toppings should differentiate the tastes, since the donut base is the same, but honestly none of them had strong flavors which was disappointing. The black sesame seeds did were the most flavorful, but not all of the balls had the seeds on them. What can I say other than perfection! The perfect balance or light, airy, sweet, crisp, and doughy! I have been 2x and both times have been great. The quality is consistent and the owner is very kind, giving me a sample of the Ube flavor doughnut which wasn't my initial flavor choice but I hav now gotten it both times. Pictured is my mom who is very picky and loved the Vietnamese Coffee flavor. The first time I went I only got 1 doughnut which was supposed to be for my daughter as I'm not much of a sweets person. I ended up thinking I would take just a bite and that was a mistake because before I knew it I didn't have a doughnut left to give her! The doughnuts are fried in beef shortening which gives them a full rich flavor. They are not greasy and ever so fluffy for being mochi! I can't recommend this place enough. Wonderful mochi donuts! This was my introduction to mochi donuts and boy was I spoiled. The light and airy texture in addition to the satisfying chew of the donuts make them extremely addictive. My favorites were the Uber Uber and Churro. I also like the Chocolate mint when I am craving something not too sweet but chocolatey. Super cute store and the owner was really helpful, attentive, detailed and friendly. They also carry adorable gifts and cards also. So happy to see them at the Matsuri Festival. My friends brought mochi donuts over this past weekend and I've had mochi donuts before but these ones are probably the freshest I've had! We tried the ube, calamansi, genmaicha, lychee and banana foster. The ube and calamansi are Filipino flavors and they are absolutely mouth wateringly delicious! The genmaicha flavor was not as strong but it was still good. Banana foster didn't have as much banana flavoring to it but it's good that it isn't overpowering. However, the lychee tasted awful like perfume. That was super unpleasant cause I've had other baked goods with lychee flavoring and it was never this yucky. I did go back to the store and tried the carrot cake and that definitely was delightful! I would just say that the price per donut of $3.75 in the store which is not like on their website which I think was $2 and some change... is pretty pricey! The owner mentioned that they switch their flavors every month, and they usually don't return flavors so if you find something you like, you gotta try it while it lasts! Mochidot is the only Mochi donut vendor in Phoenix! The next closest is in Scottsdale! Their mochi donuts are perfectly crispy on the outside and beautifully chewy on the inside! The flavors are spot on! We've had the Ube, black sesame, matcha, churro, mango, Apple cardamom and cookies & cream. They've all been spectacular. Our daughter doesn't usually like mochi donuts ( though she LOVES regular mochi) because she says that "they're always soggy!" (I think many of the other chain/franchise mochi donut shops have this problem with their donuts, she's responding to that.) BUT, daughter makes an exception for Mochidot! There is something about their cooking process that results in the perfect texture, and daughter appreciates it! Interestingly, having spoken to the owners at length, they made the decision to open their own original mochi donut shop instead of franchising from other well-known brands b/c they wanted more freedom and believed they had a better process. While this made opening their business much more difficult, we, their customers, are really benefiting from their decision. They can tweak recipes, choose their own rotating flavors and change their prep and cooking process to get exactly what they want. Refusing to relinquish autonomy was a risky move in this economy, but they believed in their product and its paid off! Also, 90% of the time, we are greeted by the owner(s) when we visit and they are 2 of the sweetest, hardest working people you will ever encounter. They're also always looking to improve and asking what we like/don't like and what flavors we would like to see next. Customer service is top notch! Pro-tip: on weekends they sell mochidonut holes! And they are filled! In October 2023, they had a red bean filling and this month, I think it's a custard? I haven't tried these yet, but they are next on my list!! Obviously I had to try the black sesame right away, and oh my goddd the dough was so soft with the perfect amount of chew. And the black sesame flavor was out of this world!! It definitely hit all of the nutty, warm notes of black sesame. I also had the ube donut which was delicious as well. It was sweeter than the black sesame with a more subtle ube flavor. The service was fantastic and the employee helping us gave us a full background of the store and answered all of our questions. New flavors! I do have to say I miss the raspberry lychee from last month and wish I stocked up, but alas! Starting with the staple Ube donut that's always delicious. Tried all the new ones except the powdered one today. Dole Whip was so good, just a hint of pineapple and not overly sweet which I love. Strawberry Crunch had a nice artificial strawberry taste to it, not in a bad way, but in a nostalgic sort of way, loved it! Mail e Butter w/ Pecans this one could have been my favorite because of the candied pecans but the maple butter was toooo sweet, it overpowered everything else. Smores similar to the malt from last month so if you liked that one, you'd like this one! Staff is always very friendly and inside is well kept and clean. I love the giant quote they have on the wall. 2 things I wish were different: First, they don't have a phone number so you cannot contact them about what donuts are available, since they sometimes sell out. I tried messaging on instagram and no response, nor do they post updates on their socials. Second, they offer preorder pick up online, but only for a full dozen and not for a half. Meanwhile they only offer 6 donut flavors at a time, so you would think they would give you both options. This is a great place to get mochi donuts in the uptown area! This is a store sandwiched between Cherryblossom Cafe and Regions tea, so plenty of good food in one plaza! The interior of the store is clean and organized, and you can choose from flavors that they rotate regularly. You can also find some candles/wares for sale on the shelves of the store. The person who helped me out at the counter was sweet and friendly, so service was top-notch. As for the food, I tried the ube, lemon raspberry, and earl grey donuts. The texture and mouthfeel of the donuts were wonderful -- light, fluffy, and chewy, which is everything you could hope for in a donut. I personally liked the lemon raspberry the best, as I thought its flavor was the strongest amongst the three. I wish the earl grey and ube flavors had a stronger flavor, as I feel like the powdered sugar kind of overpowered the taste. Overall, great donuts! Great shop with fun and interesting flavors! I got the peaches and cream, malted chocolate, samoa, and raspberry lychee donuts to share with some friends. The samoa and raspberry lychee were definitely our favorites. We found the other two to be a bit lacking in flavor, but still good. The person working was super nice, and they even took the care to package the peaches and cream donut separately from the others so it wouldn't get messed up.
